  1. I've watched it several times and the spell is definitely aimed at you the player not the wand and it does not seem to make contact.
  2. The task specifies Kings, Queens or Rulers. (As well as the sig heroes) The lack of being a king or queen is not a reason to be excluded, as long as you are ruling something. This is the list I have from word of mouth etc of people who quite clearly rule something (or are a sig hero) that do not work:
  3. Wait what? Wait what? Adventurers log count includes various now removed quests and holiday events that aren't really quests at all. In-game total is the correct count in terms of when quest 200 will be.
  4. As proven by the fact that using passwords extracted from the stolen data the hackers were able to hijack a number of jmod twitter accounts; thereby categorically proving they could not in anyway shape or form breach the encryption. Database breaches are relatively easy to decrypt passwords, depending on how quickly they are stopped, because said database also hides away the encryption information required for it recognise what you type as your password as they thing it stored cryptically. Or if that's not found and it's a generic database (eg a generic forum software) then the hackers have logs out there of the various encryption variants those forums run and it is simple a matter of trial and error to find the one that makes the gathered passwords become normal data.
  5. My main take aways from this podcast is there is a design document around for an elf quest that is one of the possible options for quest 200 and they are looking at budgetting minigame reworks plural for the coming year. Also quite liked the point of they are not opposed to straight up taking content out if it doesn't seem worth reworking. Part of me hopes if they look at minigames as a whole they apply this quite liberally. I mean looking at minigames we have that are a bit eh: Kinda ran outta steam but I also think Rogue Trader, Trouble Brewing and Vinesweeper should die. Brimhaven Agility, Shades of Mort, Sorceress garden, swars, stealing creation, tai bwo wanni clean up and temple trekking could be svaved with the right changes.
  6. This. We can't immerse into it if it lasts 45 minutes. Especially when we have to wait several years between each GM installment: WGS (2008), ROTM (2011), TWW (2013), ???? (probably next year or 2015 at the earliest -- no date). It has to be something special and long if we're waiting that long for it. It's stunning that 6 months have passed since TWW and we still don't have any details on a GM sequel. There hasn't even been any Master or Medium quests to fill in the details yet (Dragonkin or Sliske or Kharshai)... I agree with you sentiment but your 'wait times' thing I don't follow. The three you listed aren't really a series, TWW stands alone, ROTM climaxes lucien and mahajaratt ritual, WGS is part of lucien arc. And with that said there more GM than just those 3: WGS 2008 Nomads Requim 2010 Void Stares Back 2010 ROTM 2011 BOE 2012 TWW 2013 1 a year seems to be the average.
  7. I get that you are talking about 'designed for how players play' and thus whether it is 'reasonable' but I still fail to see any issue. They didn't say it was designed to be done below 99, they didn't say they expected people to do it below 99 they just said nothing in the task set requires over 99. Regardless of whether average player style would get it before 99 or not or if its 'reasonable' or not; it's just a factual statement about the task set. Nothing requires you have to more than 99 to finish it.
  8. I have tried but I just don't see any issue about designing to how people play in this matter. Jagex just made an off hand remark that you can do all the tasks below 99 and factually speaking it is possible to do so. So where's the issue? It can be done below 99 so the statement is valid, but there is nothing dictating that it has to be or that even most players will do as such. It's just a pure and simple statement of fact that it can be done below 99.
  9. But the Emir is And Owen vanishes after his quest, Linza and the Raptor can't be spoken to in the legend's guild... It's not going to be hard to get 10, of course, but it's not going to be as easy as you'd think. Pretty good choice for an exploration-based task, actually. Last time I went I coulda sworn you could talk to all 6 in legends, but either way not hard. Also the ORIGINAL Emir may be gone, but there was a line of succession that has been fulfilled. Other options we've got also include the king and queen on misc and the chiefs on jat and neitz. The father guy in tai bwo wanni theoretically could count as could the Jadinko Queen and the skinweaver in ganodermic land
  10. I still fail to see your point. Task are about doing EVERYTHING an area offers and fully upgrading a ring is party of that. And I fail to see how 'designing content around what players actually do' has anything to do with getting a ring below 99 or not. Fully upgrading the ring has no real level requirement beyond ~85 needed to do it (without sinkholes). The fact the task set can be done below 99 is neither here nor there in the design of that task, it's just an incidental fact the task set does not required max dg and can be done under 99. It's not like jagex designed the task set specifically to be done below 99 or aimed it players doing it all under 99, they pure and simply put in no requirements that strictly need you to exceed 99. Its your call whether you play a specific way to achieve that or whether you do wtf you want.
  11. 10 Rulers/Sig heros ought to be easy All 6 sig heroes are always in legends guild, heroes and champs have some but not all of them. Then King Lathas, King Rolad, Duke Horatio, Sir Amik Vaze ought to cover it. If not there is also The Emir in Kharid, the two gnome kings, King Arthur is in camelot iirc, Chief Brundt in rellekka, Commander guy in Burhthorpe are also likely choices.
  12. Yeah I don't see what your point is about whether or not people WILL do it below 99 that doesn't matter. The point is jagex has said no task will NEED 99 and it is perfectly possible to achieve a maxed ring below 99 thereby fulfilling their claim. It's not like anyone is claiming you WILL do the tasks below 99 or the task is to fill a ring before 99. The task is just to fill a ring. Jagex separately said no task will require 99 dg, and it is a fact you can do the ring under 99.
  13. ^That feature seems to be bugged anyway. Past week or 2 no new threads have appeared in my one of them (eg sept bts etc)
  14. I found tht bts quite dull. Didn't really tell us anything new other than free cosmics and laws in dg and hard mode lets you pick your boss. What intrigued me was the concept art on the screens behind him.
  15. Even then, I'm not sure how many players with under 99 (Outside of big-name clans, at least) have fully upgraded a ring track. I was under the impression that chaotics were more of a priority. True, but what players do and what is strictly needed are not the same thing. And arguably it is doable even with chaotics 200k tokens for claws, 200k for staff 300k for ccbs = 7mil xp Just over 300k for a fully upgraded ring =~10mil xp for the basic chaotics + full ring. And of course if a player was to be optimal they'd opt for virtus over chaotic staff taking us down to ~8mil xp. But strictly speaking one can have a fully upgraded ring at around lvl 85.
  16. Because it said fully upgraded ring, not fully upgraded ring class, which can easily (and obviously has been) interpreted to mean all twelve EVEN WITH the "no 99+" clarifier. A minor issue re: wording sure, however it obviously has affected the perception of the statement of a number of people (enough as to require a JMad response). And yet in the jagex wiki and in DGS etc etc terminology everyone uses terminology of having 'a berzeker ring' or 'a desperado ring' or 'your rings should be desperado and zerker' or 'working on their second ring' Just find it strange when our day-to-day language defines one customisation track as 'a ring' combined with the fact jagex clearly said it would not need over 99 that people randomly assumed 'a fully upgraded ring' would mean anything but a singular customisation track.
  17. I'm missing 'the powerful' title only atm; hoping it'll turn up sometime in the next 3-4 weeks. If I get to week 9 and lack it I may camp bol for a day or two to slaughter.
  18. I'd note I wasn't claiming Runescape would be a word-of-mouth driven game again only that being out there on portable devices that can be easily played in a more public context would do more in terms of word-of-mouth advertising. I know I (and many of my friends) have ended up getting games, songs, books, apps etc by seeing/hearing them in passing in a public setting. It just catches your eye and you look it up later.
  19. In terms of after event etc: Losing warpriest is next to impossible the entire set is auto-safe on death the only place you can genuinely loss it is wildy.
  20. I'm glad you are forewarning us of this downtime due to occur 1 month ago. I'll put a note in my time machine.
  21. ^That is a good point. If you are referring the divination tutorial tasks, opposed to super september daily challeneges you need to speak to the npcs at the divination came in draynor to turn them in and progress the task set; it does not however churn out rewards like dailies do.
  22. Because it is impossible to training 15 skills without buying anything... Set xp for melee to controlled, kill something on slayer. 5 skills down, 0 gp spent. Bury the bones. 6 skills down. Kill something with ranged. 7 down. Killing something with magic or teleport or hi alch a drop you just got. 8 down. Cut 2 logs, burn 1 fletch the other. 11 down. Mine a some ore. 12 done. Smelt that ore. 13 done. Use an agility course or shortcut. 14 done. Harvest a wisp. 15 skills done with 0gp spent. You could perhaps argue magic and ranged might cost you something in ammo, but you can easily swap them out for fishing and cooking. Or you could pickpocket a master farmer and plant the seed for thief and farm. Or go to runespan for rc. Or do a dg for dg (and a multitude of other skills). Or use the circus for free mage and range. Or hunt something for 0 cost. Or wait for farm to grow herbs to get some herblore. Or use a clan citadel to get mine, wc, fm, smith, cook, craft or summ for 0 cost. Or maybe pick some flax or sheer a sheep and use a spinning wheel for craft. Or mine some clay for craft.
  23. As long as the item they are showing if is one of the like 3 items buyable with loyalty of course.
  24. The thing is though they haven't exactly been 'pumping out' new content. As well as the weekly patch notes we've had 2 or 3 weeks dedicated solely to fixes in the past 2 years. Not to mention numerous reworks of older content that has become dated like the eoc and quest remakes. Plus they have actively mentioned desires to rework agility summoning smithing and mining, plus we know of a construction rework due later this year. And they have expressed awareness of most minigames needing some TLC, just a matter of prioritising them. I just don't see the need for them to 'slow down' to work on existing content, they are already managing to give us a good mixture of new content and upgrades to older content; plus the frequent update schedule is what keeps the game fresh and exciting for many players, you only have to look at the amount of people complaining of being bored on non-update weeks or weeks that don't apply to them to see an idea of the damage to play figures extended periods of non-update would bring. I could see the benefits of rebalancing the ratio of reworking to new content in favour of rework for a year or 2, but I don't see the need to slow down.
  25. When exactly were these sporadic updates supposed to be happening? We've had near weekly updates for like 90% of the time rs has existed, about the only prolonged period without them was in 01 just after launch when it was still basically andrew paul and ted and not a formal company with extra employees to help out.
