  1. I don't really see the relevance of those staff cuts listed to Runescape. 1) Out sourcing customer support, pretty standard move these days to improve profit margins 2) Cutting staff from Transformers different game with a different budget. If that's going wrong it's not really Runescape's fault. 3) Cutting staff from 'experimental' projects nothing really all that new here, Jagex has often done a number of experimental projects that just ended up failing (stellar dawn, funorb etc.) Trying to claim this as a sign of Runescape dying is like saying a national superstore chain laying off staff in a tiny store in the backend of nowhere that wasn't being profitable is a sign the whole company is tanking. Or that they are tanking by 'outsourcing' the checkout system via self-service.
  2. I'd agree with Quyneax. End game, by definition, means the final setup. If you are using parrots because you have some stats to max its not your final setup and thus not the endgame. Equally I dunno if parrots/xp voyages are even worth it; they are fine to do if your not maxed and there is nothing else you can send out of course but as an actual purposefully sought source of xp they are a bit meh. You can get much more xp much faster by actually training the skills and in terms of gp:hr the money you save by using xp voyages for some (eg prayer) is outweighed by the profits to be made from using resource voyages to make port armours and scrimshaws to flog.
  3. ^ Can't be backwards either in BTS video they said they'd be getting a guy to do one challenege from each week irl and they mentioned the only ones doable irl for week 1 was 50 bananas and 15 skills So 30, 13 and 8 are all in the first 7.
  4. Any chance of geupdater.com being added? Does nice round goal sigs eg: http://sigs.geupdater.com/goal/divination/99/0-1/Sy_Accursed.png And nice adventurer log ticker-tape sigs: http://sigs.geupdater.com/adventure/5/Sy_Accursed.gif
  5. So with the dwarf quest confirmed to bring 3 dragon weapons what do we think they will be? Throwing Axes is confirmed from a while back, which leaves two more from: Dragon shortswords Dragon warhammers Dragon hastae Dragon knives Dragon javelins Dragon brutal arrows Personally I'd say brutal arrows and hasta won't ever happen since both items only exist via player smithing and we can't really smith dragon. Concept art of Javelins and knives have been seen in a BTS vid so they could be possible; would also make a logical 'set' to do all 3 missing thrown weapons in 1. But part of me feels like it'll be the melee two, or just the shortswords since mh and oh could count as 2.
  6. That list of tasks a fair bit of it seems legit, but one or two make me go really? edit cause I derped on where I was posting.
  7. Vorago sounds more like dis-improvements considering he's already such a long winded unrewarding pita to cause him to be under-fought and thus cause t90 mage gear to go up up up. Adding new attacks just seems as thought it'll make matters worse, unless of course they tuck in an overhauled drop table and removal of the only 5 ppl or w/e get drops
  8. That concept art image is labelled as 'minion portals' and also looks near identical to the circular areas in front of each god where most of their fighters are spawning. It's not anything to do with the battle results.
  9. @Ginger Yes. The 2DS is still a handheld and it still plays only handheld games. It's design looks far less portable than the 3DS, which moves away from the portable format a bit. It isn't being particularly marketed at the audiences who play candy crush or angry birds or other such mobile gaming hits either, it's being aimed at 'new gamers' like little kids opposed to the young adults/adults with expensive gadgets that are bored on the train or waiting room or w/e mobile market primarily hits If anything I'd say there is less overlap between their handheld market and the mobile market in the 2DS than in any of the other previous DS range. @Polar certainly. Like I said from the start the markets do overlap to an extent and of course you have to react to the market as it evolves as a whole. I just don't think there's really any direct competition between the handheld and mobile markets, I mean it's not like you see Nintendo trying to upsell their device as better than a phone and you don't see phone/tablet stuff upselling as better than a handheld in the same way you see nintendo and vita trying to score points off each other or xbox and ps doing it.
  10. Decent month, but does DG really need a hard mode? Also since DG is getting a hard mode can Blink PUHLEASE be moved to said hard mode and be given an easy mode? Comparative to other bosses he is ridiculous between waiting like 0 seconds from knock down to vanishing and that darn magic dust stuff that can basically 2 hit and is near unavoidable (especially since you actually have to run towards it to try and kill him)
  11. I direct your attention to my original point: "Thing could change, but where we are now handheld and mobile are two distinct markets and even if they do overlap a bit I doubt there'd be much direct competition I mean Desktop vs Consoles overlaps and there isn't much in the way of big competition cause they are different play styles and thus audiences." I recognise there is an overlap my point was they do not directly compete. There is a distinct difference between 'avoiding competing' like you claimed I said and not directly competing like I said. Your version implies intentional avoiding any overlap or conflict with titles for the other market, my version is that they do all their work on their market and do not pay attention to any overlap or conflict with the other market.
  12. I never said they markets avoid competing with each other. I only said the markets are not in direct competition as they have different audiences etc. Equally I never said Jagex would be a major player in that market, simply that I do not think Nintendo would be considered major competition for them as they are aiming at a different market, namely the handheld opposed to the mobile.
  13. Is it not maybe a little harsh that each challenge is 1 day only and you have to do them all to get the top reward? I'll certainly be getting them since no level reqs = easy to do em for someone with stats and geepees; but still just feels a little harsh to have no wiggle room at all on that top reward.
  14. But there's no purpose in having a ridiculously expanded tear-away to the point where you have so much space that you could accurately within the negative space, which is quite unlike the chatbox entirely. Who said anything about purposefully making things bigger to give blank space? The fact is certain interfaces have blank space based on how you place and size them to fit your layout. For example I have invent, gear, skills and music in a side bar box; that box is the smallest it can go and still show the player model layout for gear. This layout leaves a lot of blank space around the model, equally it size also means there is a large portion of blank space in the inventory and skills windows. Further more beside my chat box I have a box setup to fill the space between chat and the 8 menu buttons to fill out a complete lower screen bar. This has prayer, magic, def/con abilities, emotes, notes, clan chat, friends list and friends chat in; given the size of the interface the first 3 have lots of blank space in them. I'm not having 'ridiculously oversized' interfaces. I'm having normal interfaces that work for my layout of choice and the fact is there is enough blank space when viewing certain tabs that being able to click through such blank space, just like the chat box, would make sense since it's blank and you might see the thing you want to click there due to transparency.
  15. You wouldn't want a click-through inventory interface. There too many important things in all of those submenus that if it were click through, you'd have soooooo many dead clicks at important times. As for the scrolling game zoom, why not just lock it? But there is a definable difference between the boxes that are actual inventory spaces etc and plain blank space - just like click through chat differentiates text from blank. Also I don't lock zoom because I make use of changing it subject to the area I'm in and what I'm doing, but lockable or not it is an obvious bug/flaw in the system.
  16. But like I said actual mobile gaming and handheld console gaming are still independent markets. 3Ds fights with Vita and the like, not with ios and android etc. devices.
  17. Btw in customisation all the loyalty outfits appeared along with gazes in a new 'effects' section
  18. These NIS upgrades are rather ruined by the obvious flaws. The new border is nice...but it now make inventory 5 a line at size that matches the 8 button menu which is annoying. Split priv is cool..but you can't tell when you are in priv or not and it doesnt exit after u send a message Click thru chat is cool...but feels a bit odd when u still can't click thru other transparent things AND scrolling chat with mouse wheel does game world zoom too.
  19. I wouldn't be surprised if it's to do with bol; unless I'm mistaken we have not had a week with no system update since bol came out and it'd make sense that they need to preload assets for the Duke result and the army result (as well as removing assets for losing choices from prior votes); possibly even extends to needing to actually put the data for the tier 3 emotes and armour items in game.
  20. Agreed. And if Jagex is really serious about tablets and handhelds, then Nintendo is gonna be major competition. But we shouldn't be surprised, since Nintendo has survived off handhelds since 1997. I do not think Nintendo would be competition at all to Runescape on tablets etc. Yes Nintendo is a big player in the handheld gaming market through their dominance of the handheld console BUT Nintendo don't do anything in the mobile gaming market which is the market Runescape would be in for smart phone and tablet usage. Thing could change, but where we are now handheld and mobile are two distinct markets and even if they do overlap a bit I doubt there'd be much direct competition I mean Desktop vs Consoles overlaps and there isn't much in the way of big competition cause they are different play styles and thus audiences.
  21. Its 1/3 of the playerbasea small part of the playerbase with most of the bots who jumped ship from RS3. They would be stupid not to, but they dumped a load of resources in to it and hired staff so they are stuck now. Fixed.
  22. They do update OSRS but only in a limited fashion, they don't have tools to dev anything truly new but they have been able to clone map areas and recycle npcs. Then recently they've found an 07 mapping tool so they can make new maps for existing assets, with some being able to be recoloured slightly but they still can't create anything new. Then they also recently found an archive of update assets and have established they can plug them in to OSRS and they will function meaning they can offer some of the 07-08 region content up to their polls (eg GWD)
  23. Assuming you worked that out right (as in 3 runes = 1 charge) it's 97k at 17gp a rune.
  24. Subscribed day it came out and looking at my profile it looks like I got 30k loyalty points today. Same seem as if they have either double all points or added an extra year on to the scale to take us from 15k > 30k
  25. Yeah pretty much since it closed a week ago folks been reporting updated amounts awarded. So it seems like the back-end of the loyalty program is in place, the delay is just in the store itself.
