  1. But it's not a quest slot it is a sized based slot. If ROP does not win that slot is gone no matter what else wins. Agility and that other one I can't remember will still use the same slot, same dev time etc as ROP or Seren quest would. The *only* way ROP will get another shot at being this year is if another round of Runelabs asks for the same size or bigger or a quest and it wins the poll; and heck at this stage in the year for an update of this size we are probably already looking towards october or later release.
  2. beats those "big" updates that use a ton of jagex resources but end in about ten minutes of gameplay Indeed, instead we can do plain old fishing for 40 odd hours to get some items to chuck in a PoH room we'll spend 5 minutes looking at then forget exists.
  3. I never said we keep that kind of stuff in our banks all that often. However that does not alter the fact that banks do offer safety deposit boxes where you CAN keep anything stuff you like - it is just a service people most commonly use for valuables like jewellery, antiques, sentimental items etc. IT's also not a fact that no-one keeps that stuff in safety deposit boxes - there'll be plenty of rare, valuable or sentimentally valued books lurking in safety deposit boxes and I'm sure among the billions of people in this world there are at least one or two overly rich people who'd stick a DVD, Blu-ray or video game in a safety deposit box for some odd reason. Heck with video games it may not even be that odd a reason since some of the 20th Century gaming consoles and their games are becoming increasingly rare and increasingly valuable. Given the historical nature of the Runescape world vs real world culture it makes perfect sense - they don't have electronic money, or debit cards they deal entirely in things that physically exist. Slap on the fact the society of Gielinor would be considered more of a bartering goods for goods society than a cash for everything society and banks would be opening to storing a variety of valuable trade goods as forms of currency outside of just gold. Then wedge in the safety deposit box notion and they'd gladly being storing our valuables for us too. The thing is with a game like Runescape just because it doesn't conform perfectly to what we in the modern world do and how our institutions work does not mean it doesn't make sense. The use of the word Bank refers to services and formats more commonly used in the past before we moved away from bartering and into electronic currency etc. but there are still instances of that service remaining in safety deposit boxes. I mean if your gonna claim banks make no sense because of modern standards without any consideration of what came before and the other services they provide then you could claim almost nothing in-game makes sense as it doesn't fit modern standards, People walking around armed to the teeth with swords etc - People don;t do that now, doesn't make sense. People being freely allowed and encouraged to slaughter rare and sentient animals - doesn't male sense, animal rights groups would stop it. People relying on wood fires and stoves for cooking - nope no sense there electric and gas cookers everywhere these days. The list could go on. The fact is you'll never find much sense comparing Runescape purely to modern society alone, you have to consider historic societies and what things meant/were in their cultures.
  4. I'm not all tht fussed with Vic I have the outfits I desire and aside from dg bxp I don't really want to trade any in because, whilst I'm not actively working on any atm, the obvious goal for me at this point aside from trimmed comp is to get the 120s.
  5. You do realise the event tools aren't an actual update we get to use - they are purely an upgrade to the tools the jmods have for when they host events.
  6. Tbh it was kinda Raven and Osbournes fault for over hype. The concept existed and had been provisionally been given a dev slot later in the year for late 14 release but it hadn't actually been put in to dev, so when time scales on other stuff shifted its dev slot vanished and it never began dev at all. They shouldn't of really given us any details until it was actually in dev and thus could be delayed but was definitely happening.
  7. Not true the public consumer side of banks do primarily deal with money it is true, but most 'posh' banks also after safety deposit boxs where you can keep your valuables or whatever the hell you want. Not to mention that banks profit and pay interest by using the money to trade in stocks, shares and sometimes even goods. And going back historically to when our economies were more bartering of goods than predefine currency money what would evolve to become 'banks' would be holding all sorts of random goods for the wealthy. Banks being used to store items is a perfectly legit real world thing.
  8. There is not time slot for it's dev if it doesn't win. Plus all 3 of those names aren't even in the scrum team who will be deving this poll winner.
  9. Email allows disabling the authenticator
  10. The quest resets whenever you talk to gypsy aris and ask for it to be reset - no weekly limit etc. The only limit afaik is on buying the xp lamp once per week, standard weds reset. Source: I did it 5 times in 2 days to buy all the non-lamp rewards.
  11. You can also just have it kill you, respawn by fountain makes spirit 2 bit closer.
  12. I don't care about some stupid cane or a pointless rubber duck. Santa suit is something people usually wear on Christmas. How is it fair that I can't wear a santa suit in game when Christmas is near? It's not, the rest of the items can be exclusive to people who only participated in the event that year. But a santa suit, no. There is no reason why THAT should only be available to people who were playing RuneScape and did the Holiday event in 2008. You know what else people wear near christmas? Snowman Suits Bobble Hats Scarves Reindeer Antlers Santa Beards You know what all these items are? Holiday reward exclusives that are just as locked out and exclusive as the Santa Suit. Or maybe Skeleton costumes and scythes for Halloween...oh holiday exclusive too. Or maybe Bunny ears for Easter...nope still holiday exclusive. Nearly every single holiday themed item in-game is a holiday event exclusive - even then ones that can be obtained by other means (Santa hat, halloween masks, phats) are all insanely costly due to being rares. It's not like it destroys the game or ends the world that you can't make your collection of animated pixels red and white for one month of the year because you weren't there at the right time. Also its perfectly fair because the suit was a reward for being there for a specific christmas. You weren't there, you didn't get the reward. Perfectly fair. Just like it was perfectly fair that no-one in the entirity of the game had asantan suit for the first 8 years of the game. What would be unfair would be removing the prestige of the 'I was there' holiday rewards just to appease a few kids who are mad they missed it and aren't creative enough to make themselves look santa-ish in other ways like people used to do.
  13. I'd hardly call it punishment or unforgivable when it has been the norm for like a decade or more that anyone with any iota of experience of the game is aware of that holiday items are awarded at 1 event only and act as a mark of prestige to show you were there.
  14. So they have hidden a small amount of forcing you to do everything in this event if you wanna be all 'completionist' about it: Pure blue eggs are theiving only. Pure green are hunter only. Pure red are combat only.
  15. Yeah those awesome awesome boosters. I had 6 whole boosters for Champion Scroll drop rate - that's 1500 kills of that sweet sweet 20% more likely to get the scroll. I already have Zombie and Abby Spec champs dead so I thought lets hit up Earth Warriors, a mob I've not tried recently for scrolls but have prob killed like 2k-ish of previously. I left that cave with 0 boosters and 0 champ scrolls. I'm so pleased 5 months worth of reward enhancers got me precisely nowhere closer to beating a req at all.
  16. Jagex can't design a game around people who have bad lag because it'd just make for awful game design. Certainly they need to consider internet that isn't 100% perfect lag free - but they do that anyway as seen by even the high end twitchy pvm encounters being doable with mild 'average joe internet' lag/delays. But if you start tailoring to people with significant lag in design make things slow and unchallenging for people with average or better internet. It's not like you did badly, 9 fires is perfectly respectable amount to have going, most people I know doing the quest only did around 7-8 with the 'good' people getting to maybe 12 at most. Plus when you light a fire you go west, not left, and that will not always make you move towards Char. Unless for some reason you are running side-to-side over the short distance of the arena and not utilising the length plus only ever lighting fires when moving from the west edge to the east edge.
  17. I think part of the optimisation issue with Java vs C++ is it isn't as good at adapting to different hardware/driver setups in terms of self optimising. For example: My macbook with more than enough specs for rs can barely run it because Java and mac = fail. My super duper desktop that is still way ahead of most high end gaming specs runs perfectly without flaw. My gaming laptop that actually has better specs than my desktop and only falls behind on GPU minutely cause built in stead of card gets laggy and struggles a bit at max graphics - even though 'proper' games with higher specs run perfectly) My media box that barely has any gpu at all cause I remote in to it runs it perfectly. By rights of pure a simple specs the 1st three should all run max graphics easily, whilst the 4th should struggle a bit. But lol nope java throws a wrench in that. It's like, to put it very crudely, Java is told 'render x by doing y so Java will render x by doing y no matter the cost to cpu, gpu, ram etc. C++ is told render x then will look at the cpu, gpu, ram etc and go well the best way to do that here is y, so I'll do that. Not saying its impossible to make Java work right, but to my understanding you have to do lots of faff and work arounds to make Java do it nicely where as C++ just kinda does it anyway without extra instruction almost.
  18. If you turn auto retaliate off you wont run at Char. Fire walls aren't a big worry anyway since you can just run through them and tank the hit. No way to remove animation. Honestly not much in the ways of tricks to what is a relatively easy fight. Armour is meaningless, as is your weapon - so best to go light weight and a nice fast ranged wep. Then just light a whole heap of fires to drive your damage up and get as many hits in as you can before Char goes super angry or fires go out.
  19. Yeah overrides never interfere with checks on what you are wearing other than s elect few specially coded ones - ie the dark cultist and zombie costume overrides from new Dimension of Diaster quest specifically work for that quest as if you are wearing them, so for example you can use the zombie override whilst wearing cultist robes making Evil Dave recognise your evil look, but still allowing you to go upstairs past Captain Rovin.
  20. They probably realised theres less time for people to point out the glaring flaws in the poll if they don't post it before hand and the critique that does come will be drowned in the live poll vote discussions making it a loverly 'look people like it - power to the players win' instead of 'erm yeah those guys are right we did leave off really obvious options/made dumb wording, but er look theres a shiny thing over there oh now its live its all fine =D'
  21. Hopefully this delivers all they promised with html 5 and more. Certainly a more tried and tested solid base to build a game on that should be able to support better load times etc for most machines and good that they are moving away from java since it does kinda limit what they can do long term especially with it being kinda a dying breed in terms of support etc. Can't wait for beta to arrive! For me the big boons C++ should bring, aside from optimisations in general, is that it generally should be better at rendering textures onto models so they'll look nicer, it's kinda better at doing diverse colour palettes so helps nudge things to more realism than existing colourings and, most of all, much better lightning engine possibilities to properly show off the nice model work on newer stuff.
  22. Without a guide going in blind on launch day it took me in excess of 12 hours to complete the quest and I was still among the first small amount of players to beat it. And this is from someone who is pretty darn good at puzzles, so at 4 hours a day sans guide in excess of a weeks playtime solving it is entirely possible.
  23. Click bait youtubers that purport to be clever and sciencey and have 'researched' things by spending about 5 minutes messing around and then passing off that tiny spec of data as solid results are the absolute worst. They are, at best, just looking to lazily profiteer off misguided people who assume the feigned 'science' of it all is more well founded and at worst spreading harmfully incorrect information.
  24. I'd imagine she meant silk, seeing as we are talking about the t20 gear and the 3 options are Steel Armour, Studded Leather or Spidersilk Robes. The former two of which are readily obtainable after getting a bit of coal to produce steel and the later of which requires spidersilk.
  25. ^Thank jebus for that. In my clan we had 3 clannies killing guards for 4 hours and came away with 1 set of the studded ranged armour that has since been shared around. And that came from 2 coal drops to 1 guy, 1 stud drop to me and nothing for the 3rd.
