Kal'gerion Gem Rocks
I don't see why it would up the chances persay. The scrimshaws effect is a small chance of finding a diamond dstone or onyx at the same time as you get an 'ore' - in the case of gem rocks the 'roe' being the normal gem. So whilst yes overall for a set sample size you should find more diamonds, dstones and onyx, it wouldn't be altering the existing spread of gems as you'd mine say a sapphire and a diamond in 1 hit - the sapphire from the rock, the diamond from the scrim.

I was thinking this. Like maybe: A defender that parries melee hits. A small buckler or arm guard of sorts perhaps that can deflect ranged hits. And some sort of ward that can absorb magic hits. Wouldn't be too triangle breaking either - it'd be offering a small boon to the style you are so so against opposed to effecting the style you are op against or the style your meant to be ruined by.

Is there a fast way to have a nice looking layout?
^ This it may seem like a lot at first, but if you load the preset thats similar to the old layout and get used to it and then just have a play here and there you'll be surprised how nice it is. Like you might be trying to use prayers and think I wish I could have these up all the time, then realise with your screen res you could shrink chat a bit or w/e and have prayers on screen 24/7 no problem and then just keep tweaking here and there as you go along.

It would be a nice little effect if it wasn't for the fact stats wise they are still a bad off-hand dagger that can't attack or conversely an extremely bad shield. They really need to make them into an actually off-hand weapon opposed to a bad shield and make them equal to daggers in their attacking stats and THEN they might be remotely useful, thought of course only within their given tier; but there would be nothing stopping them adding in t70+ variants if they so wanted.

I think on the whole there is a missing market of more hybridised weapons. They sold the mix and match of eoc up as such a big feature but with hybrid armours sucking on the whole and the penalty of wrong class you can't really do a whole lot. Dual mage having 2 spells and the possibility of mixing slash/stab/crush 1hs is about all you can feasibly do. I think there could be a lot be gained by creating more interesting purposefully hybrid weapons, especially if they focused on the in-between points of the combat triangle. So mage/range, range/melee and melee/mage hybrids. Enchanted bolts could even play in to that hybridisation, as could the notion of enchanting swords. Whilst the range/melee ground could be used to play up poisons using assassiny-type weapons - potential here as well to side-step halberds into this category (the idea of melee fighting with more range) and play up defenders with some sort of parrying-type effect. And having specifically hybrid weapons could overcome ability difficulties by letting them access both ability pools. So a 2h mage/melee wep would be able to use both 2h melee and 2h magic abilities. In someways I feel the system as whole could benefit from the literal introduction of these hybrids as classes opposed to generic hybrid or all and leave a sort of 'holy grail' total hybrid in the middle of the triangle.

Armour penalties?
I don't know if there is any solid data on how exactly it is calculated, but is pretty simple: It looks at body, legs and shield slot only. If it is All, Hybrid or matches your weapon class nothing happens. If it is 1 of the 2 classes that do not match your weapon your accuracy and damage get nerfed downwards enough that it noticeable dents your dps.

Its nonsense to claim ranged needs all 3 of those to be 'equal' At t90 weapons you can do wtf you like ignoring weaknesses, so for it to be equal all it needs is 1 2h weapon that gets the 150% damage output of 2h weapons aka anything 2h you like other than a shield bow. All we really strictly need from the t90 2hs to achieve equality is 1 melee, 1 ranged and 1 mage with the style of the range and melee options being irrelevant beyond not a shield bow. I mean its not like all 3 drygore sets have purposeful and niches uses, the choice is basically entirely cosmetic. @Urza's point - I think magic staff is a safe bet. I mean in the entire spectrum of magic weapons we have wands, orbs, books and staves - there isn't really anything else you can do for a magic weapon, especially not for something two handed. As for the ranged t90 I somehow doubt it'd be thrown like a javelin because they are hard to balance rarity of cost wise vs the other 2 due to being consumables; plus there is a lack of thrown weak high end mobs.

Armour penalties?
This is entirely wrong. Since the day eoc launched it has been the case that mismatching classes nerfs damage and accuracy. There has never been a time when this was not true, it is the precise reason hybrid and all class items exist

But I did not use terms with negative connotations to describe legacy mode and nor did I remotely imply it was ONLY combat. Let's take another look at what I actually wrote shall we. "Oh and legacy mode beta to, but alas I could not give a monkeys about" - Perfectly neutral language, expressing my disinterest in the legacy mode beta. "upgraded momentum version 2" - My opinion of what the legacy combat is, again no negative language here - momentum serves a purpose and if anyone cares to look back to older threads I have previously mentioned being quite happy with the notion of it being buffed to compete with abilities and even pointed out before in essence this is all Legacy is doing and therefore having both side by side is redundant seeing as they serve the same niche and one will render the other useless. "layered with a nostalgia-scape interface cosmetic override" - oh look here's a specific reference to the interface portion of things and once more not a negative word in sight, unless in some alternate reality 'nostalgia' is synonymous with bad. It is simply a fact the old interface, and the desire for it, at this point is driven by something nostalgic - be it nostalgia for a return to an interface you deem more workable due to NIS issues or nostalgia for the look of it. It is a form of nostalgia. And as I mentioned already, that is not necessarily a bad thing. "purporting to be some magically saviour that will fix all the ills of eoc by pandering to those who refuse to deal with change and need to be tricked into thinking they've got old combat back, when it;s not really at all." - Ah here is some nice negative stuff, but note nothing here is about what legacy actually IS, it is about what it is purporting to be aka what Jagex is making it out to be and the market they seem to be aiming it at (eg players who have long since quit or have refused to have anything to do with eoc combat and re thus quite out of touch with how the game has developed as seen in their special guest testers for the live stream). And this is where my disagreement lies - I think it is wrong that they are hyping it up to be something more than it actually is and acting as if it is some magic cure that fixes everything wrong with combat at present.

6-May-2014 - Elder Divination
Dying species seems to be a recurring theme in RuneScape quest lore of the past few years - Mahjarrat, dragon riders, white dragon. I wonder whether that's intentional or just lazy writing by JaGeX. I think it is somewhat mistaken to say it is a current theme. Mahjaratt as a dwindling population with no means of breeding has been established for many many years. White Dragons as an extinct species has been around ever since 3rd age rewards from treasure trails. Dragonriders breeding issue has been established for a few years, and they were thought to be extinct here anyway. It's just coincidental that these species and characters feature in recent stories, but they have all been long established.

Legacy Mode is coming to the beta servers later this month. As for when it actually launches in the live game depends how it fairs there, but I wouldn't expect it before August at the earliest.

Cool rant bro. NIS has had bugs present ever since its release. Those were reported countless times and were never fixed. Letting people use the old interface over the NIS is a good thing because a fixed interface normally wouldn't come with all the problems you get from NIS. The concept of being able to make your interface into whatever you want to make it look like is good... except it doesn't look like Jagex is competent enough to make it work. I can agree for the combat side of Legacy mode, but the whole point behind the NIS was to allow you to make your interface look the way you wanted it to look. Want to position certain windows wherever you want on the screen to give your interface your own personalized look? Check. Want to change the interface's look and feel instead of being forced to use the blue and yellow look? Tough luck. Want to make your interface look exactly like it used to be before the NIS? Oh no you can't do that either. Why not though? Not allowing people to have the old interface pretty much defeats the purpose of the NIS. :/ Then there's the bugs and quirks with the NIS that have never been fixed, such as (but not limited to): - Several parts of the interface moving around, one pixel at a time, each time you load the game; - It not being possible to have a dynamic interface — pre-NIS, if you resized your game screen, things such as the interface stones would automatically resize themselves to match the new screen size. With the NIS? Change your screen size, things get detached from where they stood, things get distorted, things completely change position, etc. I want to be able to have my interface look the way I want it to. It is technically do-able with the NIS, but as it look like Jagex probably won't be willing to put in the effort to make it work, a fixed, pre-NIS interface is the only other solution. Cool rant bro. You'll note I never actually said there was anything wrong with either legacy combat or the interface override. I simply said I, personally, do not care for a further upgraded momentum or for what is essentially a cosmetic override to the interfaces. Especially in the given context that Jagex is purporting the combined thing to be some magically fix that will solve all the issues of combat and resurrect pvp, whilst also heavily plugging it as old combat returning when it is not really any different from a boosted momentum with a cosmetic reskin to make things look like they used to.

Jagex Stance On Multilogging - Changed
This is not true in most cases. The games multilogged are those that are utterly dead, yet provide a tangible reward. Before they died they all sustained active fcs that played rigged games without anyone multilogging.

If you watched the video you'd see what is presumably lleyta is more than just texture and lighting changes. Yeah i saw that, but other than that its supposed to be mostly texturing and lighting in the other places. This was something confirmed by a mod some time ago. They said that was the plan a while ago yes, however Lleyta's look clearly contradicts this which would infer the plan changed.

Well so much for the notion a quiet May might herald lots of awesome content for June. 1 actual meaty update with a quest. 1 tiny content update with 4 skillchompas adding more plain old boxtrap hunter and training boons to other skills. and 1 graphical reworking. To me that's kinda like 2 weeks worth of update, since the skillchompas and graphic rework are so small they could easily be 1 update and the later 2 aren't overly interesting to me. I don't have much cause to explore the elf lands at present, and I have no need of the skillchompas. Hopefully there's some good ninja fixes to save this month. Oh and legacy mode beta to, but alas I could not give a monkeys about upgraded momentum version 2 layered with a nostalgia-scape interface cosmetic override purporting to be some magically saviour that will fix all the ills of eoc by pandering to those who refuse to deal with change and need to be tricked into thinking they've got old combat back, when it;s not really at all.

Summer Package: Road to Elf City
Try tens of thousands of years XD And I don't think its the same at all to the white knight really, in lore terms. After all thinking in lore terms 'ancient' referring to Zaros stuff is because his Empire crumbled at the end of the 2nd Age which is a solid 5k or so years ago. For Seren and the elves there is no converting or anything special about it being 'ancient' because their civilisation has stood where it is and survived since the early 1st Age which is close to 10k years ago. What to us is 'ancient' content is just a normal part of their civilisation, which predates human civilisation by a long shot (since we were largely tribal in 1st and 2nd ages (aside from those caught up in the Zarosian empire), consumed by war in the 3rd and only exerted dominance and constructed civilisations in the 4th)

Clearing cookies defaults RS language to Spanish
Are you just clearing cookies or clearing all of the internet cache? If the former I'd expect there is something lurking in the temp files that is telling it to load in spanish, which the cookie was overriding.

But how do you open the doors you have to range, right after that? I'd vote to just completely remove the doors, tbh. I'm sure there would be a way that 2ndary door could be tweaked to fit or removed entirely whilst maintain the 2 button approach of the initial door. But I'm not to fussed how they do it really.
-
Summer Package: Road to Elf City
Not really since both Zaros and Seren are ancient and we already voted for the new Seren spells and 'blessings' to be added to the existing ancient magic and curses books - so though not necessarily at launch there will be Seren content in the books that is being allowed to switch in her city.

A spider boss would be a nice addition to Underground Pass area I think - we already have spiders going on there and it'd give the area a bit of revisit value post-quests plus that side of the map is kinda lacking on the boss front. The vast majority are currently wedged in the Falador region (broadly speaking even vorago and qbd etc are) with a couple of desert and morytanina.

Elf City – Design Documents - General Elf City Discussion
I always thought that'd be a good addition as a consumable item perhaps, like a heavy crate or barrel to help you open the door. Heck could be used as an item sink for over abundant items - barrel has to weigh 10kg say to operate the button and you add items to it, destroying the item but add its weight to the total.

Jagex Stance On Multilogging - Changed
^ Well GOP played to purposefully earn points is done 50:50, so it wouldn't be quite as bad as finding a team to lose. There is an FC for fog that usually gets ~20 in most evenings from people seeking the minigame armour or w/e else. Soulwars also has a couple of remaining fcs iirc, but that is the hard one until they revamp it to be worthwhile.

Can we get some OSRS F2P promotion?
I am not being difficult, I do not think it is any different. They are both just news stories. Also I don't think your 'evidence' amounts to much. 1 is a simple rss feed bot of the newsfeed, nothing special. Could OSRS as a whole perhaps use one too? Possibly, but certainly not a special announcement with banners and stickies for a specific update. The other was a thread for content being specifically given to fansites to tease updates - it wasn't just plugging random news stories being hyped. It was content made by Jagex specifically for fansites to post in the form of images of next weeks update.
