  1. I gave thzaar a test run and it seems like it's 2 minute limit, at least that's what the guy at cave says (Could very well mean 2 minutes 59 seconds though) Shame. I mean, I can still just kill stuff for 3 minutes with some prayer flicking or not using piety, but it is kinda offputting and puts the tactic as a whole a little less appealing I DID just get a cape while testing though in less than 10 kills :D I may train there anyway but just prayer flick instead of using the caves all the time. :)
  2. I'm just curious where everyone trains, it doesn't have to be the "most efficient" place ever, just where you typically like to train. Recently I've been training at Giant Spiders in the 3rd level of Security Stronghold, they're aggressive for about 10 minutes and I'm able to completely afk the full 10 minutes at my defense level. I'll often just come back 10+ minutes later to find myself logged out, log back in, heal and pot, reset their aggro, go afk again. :) I'm thinking about trying out monkey guards though, they effectively have infinite life if you get 2 of them close to you and alternate between damaging them so they can heal, and they are literally right next to an altar, only reservation is that they have rather high defense and the minor inconvenience of a nearby poison spider (but i believe it loses aggressiveness after a while?) You can also purposefully lower your DPS (wear holy amulet instead of fury, don't pot, no offensive prayers etc.) so you can AFK on 1 with protection from melee for as long as your prayer lasts. Unless you're high level you don't have to nerf yourself much if at all as they heal fairly rapidly. :) Oh! And I'm also considering dharoking thzaar creatures, i figure If i use rockcake, i can 1hp them with protect from melee and then geniously, I can run into fight caves and very quickly kill myself for full prayer and special attack energy (DBA), free prayer and super strength! Phew. Ok, your turn.
  3. My early complaints have been fulfilled through polls, I hope GWD comes one day but I won't be too upset if it doesn't. I'd like quick prayers and also visible HP/Prayer, but I don't need them. I can't think of any way to attract more players to OSRS, it's objectively a very simple and dated game that requires a lot of time to sink into and an intimidating amount of information to learn. A free trial and wide spread adverts would be the best bet, I guess. As long as the servers remain alive there will always be a core player base for me to PK. I am content.
  4. Most idioms are not grammatically correct. They're made for speech which doesn't necessarily follow the same rules as text, grammar messes with the flow and rhythm of the phrase. It's still a very stupid anti-progress statement though, just as stupid as applying "There's no harm in trying" to any situation, including those that there indeed is harm in failed attempts. I love "Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds." on so many levels.
  5. I like 70/99/70 dharok "pure"s. You can have rune armour fights if you don't want to risk lots. 40 defense at minimum for vengeance in my opinion though, pking just isn't the same without it.
  6. Just play it and have fun. You'll have to go through painful bits like Underground Pass quest, but for the most part you can avoid doing stuff like, say, killing the same creature 8 hours a day. In all likely hood OSRS will not die, it may have way fewer players or stop being updated, worst case scenario the membership fee increases slightly.
  7. "But it certainly doesn't hurt to try and improve it." "Unless you fail to do so, in which case it hurts a lot." I wasn't speaking specifically of RuneScape. Besides, it doesn't matter if you fail and get hurt, since that does not prevent you from getting back up. Yes there is no harm in trying, it's when you fail to see, or refuse to acknowledge, that all the hard work you put into the change is actually harmful. Something Jagex are prone to do. (Remember the climbing boots fiasco?) To be honest I like the current system of having RS3 for those that want it, but retaining RS2 for those that prefer that. As long as both survive I'm happy. Just your phrase was so... Complete garbage.
  8. "But it certainly doesn't hurt to try and improve it." "Unless you fail to do so, in which case it hurts a lot."
  9. My method has changed entirely, here's what I do now. (still open to suggestions and will check out various methods) Ahrim first, pray 15% atk and str (and protect mage), unload 4 dds specs into him then d scimmy for the kill. Usually takes 45 prayer points or less to take it down, can occasionally just spec him out immediately! Dharoks next with prayer, then karils with prayer. The remaining 3 are killed without using prayer, i usually go through a few lobsters. And the biggest change is after I've looted chest i will remember where the ladder is and make my way back, getting 2 chests in 1 trip! A huge speed increase. How do you guys handle the run energy problem getting there? I'm considering energy pots.
  10. Old combat system PVP did not require much skill, the most twitch gamer kind of thing involved some armour changing and gmaul combos. But it wasn't skill less. If you knew when to attack and when to eat, heck, even when to tele, you'd get a lot more kills than the average player. And reaching perfection was practically impossible which made it endlessly fun to try. It wasn't complex or even objectively "good", but it was unique and obviously did something right. RS3 is just a much worse version than the billion clones it's poorly mimicking. I'd much rather play guild wars 2 before RS3, and since they are enormous time sinks almost by definition, you can't really play both. So RS3 has a lot more competition.
  11. Dean seems extremely active on the forums and that thread so I've asked myself :) Here's hoping he answers. For the time being I'm going back to killing 6 brothers and 8 mobs, hopefully add some stuff to the log.
  12. I'm more confused now than i was before asking. Mod dean seems to pull out the 450 - X digits out of nowhere with no explanation, i don't doubt their credibility but they're pretty unhelpful without context. And 7 brothers = 1/44 chance? Huh? Runeshark have 880 chest log and they average 1/15.4. No idea how the mobs effect the chances though Runeshark themselves seem to have misconstrued(?) the same information as previously posted on this forum and think they need 8 total killcount (6 bros 2 mobs) instead of 14... I really wish they'd just provide the code/formula, if they're giving out of context tips like this they might as well. I still have no idea what the difference between 5 brothers and 6 is. Ahrims is currently so time and resource consuming it'd be worth a slight decrease in Guthans items just to get more chests/hour, emphasis on slight. I've got a bad head.
  13. Hey so I've got 70 def and doing barrows... Looking at item prices and have to ask if it's worth bothering with ahrims at all. Having lame melee stats VS ahrim means lots of prayer and or food used, not to mention time. Does anyone know if like 5 brothers + 9 mobs has the same chance of getting a guthans item as 6 brothers? Or any glimpse on how it effects the chances?
  14. I've gave EOC a few chances, I tried it in the trials, I tried it when it was released, and I tried this new hard mode GWD thing. (Not bad, but not good enough) Pretty much the only 2 things I ever did before EOC was PK and kill bandos competitively (crash/anticrash). Both were utterly ruined. I feel like the combat change was a real step down in enjoyability in the game, and other than the bosses the updates have been consistently awful since the "Wait, it's April 2nd, Squeal Of Fortune is surely a late April fools prank, right?" incident.
  15. ...Yeah I'm currently still training my defense, soon I'll have 70 and will actually do some more barrows (To make the money for piety!) :D Advice! I really dislike people asking for "donations" or "tips".
  16. I'm talking about training. Scimmy is 1.75* speed of axe. (4 dharoks hits for every 7 scimmy hits) You still use scimmy when PKing for 3 reasons... 1). You're not always very low life points 2). Using scimmy makes your enemy stay at relatively lower lifepoints 3. Scimmy to axe takes 2.4 seconds, while axe-axe takes 4.2 seconds, your enemy has much more time to react, making a kill difficult. Yeah in the ideal world you'd do this, but I'm far too lazy to do that. :)
  17. Max possible DPS gear (fury, not strength) 100% accuracy is assumed. [Dharoks max = 97] [scimmy max = 42] Enemy has 70 lifepoints. Dharoks: total hits 20495020 for 10000000 kills Dragon scimmy: total hits 39769009 for 10000000 kills 20495020 * 4.2 = 86079084 (117k xp/hour!) 39769009 * 2.4 = 95445621 Dharoks is 111% more kills/time than scimmy. Enemy has 50 lifepoints. Dharoks: total hits 16698542 for 10000000 kills Dragon scimmy: total hits 30485273 for 10000000 kills 16698542 * 4.2 = 70133876 30485273 * 2.4 = 73164655 Dharoks is 104% more kills/time than scimmy. Ok you can see where this is going but I'm going to stop here, there is no practical reason for you to kill anything with lower than 50 lifepoints outside of slayer, which you have black mask for, making scimmy the obvious choice. Dharoks is more accurate than scimmy so the results will be ever so slightly better for dharoks than shown here. In hindsight I should have made dharoks max something like 94 to give a realistic figure as you won't always be on 1 lifepoint. Oh well, it'd still win.
  18. Well Dharoks has (considerably) higher raw DPS than dragon scimmy, but the slow powerful damage results in a lot of overkill potentially making it worse on enemies with lower HP. I'm not sure where to even start to compare the 2 and find an accurate cut off point where each is clearly the victor. Can anyone?
  19. If 2 players clicked an object at the exact same time how is it decided who gets the item? Assume they have similar ping and the attempt to pick it up goes on the same tick. I'm guessing its either the same IP thing as first hit in duel arena, or it's ping based and whoever's attempt goes through first even if on the same tick?
  20. Level 45 skeletons in 6 wildy in the edgeville tunnel (near black demons and chaos druids) There's about 7 of them in a very condensed area, they're aggressive, they have really low def, 59 hp, inaccurate attacks, never ever have players there. Not too far from edgeville bank you can glory to (Or house glory + altar). Quite a good place to afk if you don't concern yourself with the very low chance a pker could come and kill you.
  21. Video was with double runes. (And killcount unknown but in many screenies it's 20+) Per chest after halving: 14.6 bolts, 25.6 bloods, 58 deaths, 101.8 chaos, 304.2 minds... Counted 44 barrows items. So that's 1 item for every 22.72 chests. (Wow that's worse than I expected.)
  22. I list the ongoing chests looted with each item, I have currently looted 42 chests, but won't write it down unless I get an item. If next chest is an item, i will write 43rd chest - Ahrim's staff. It feels like a waste of time to update otherwise. Killcount will always always be 14, 6 brothers dead 8 mobs dead. If I ever fail to do this I'll disregard that chest from the log. Not going to list runes or racks. Too much effort. They're so common you could just record like 100 chests and get their probability down to a near science anyway.
  23. I'm 42 defense 43 prayer so I really can't tank the melee guys and cant kill 3 without pots. I will do this for sure once I'm 70 defense 70 prayer. In fact I think I'm just gonna train defense now, I don't even care much for zerk pking.
  24. Final reserved spot, feel free to post.
