  1. Not very exciting at the moment but when there's more data I'll have separate tables to list how often I get each item and some sums based on probability of item per chest etc... I will NOT be recording runes or bolts as they sadly just take too much effort to keep track of. I'll use this part to tell you my current method (tips would be welcomed) Start in Canifis bank. Run to cellar behind pub, walk through shortcut, climb up the tree and run to the boat. Cast "charge". Kill the brothers in the following order: Verac, Torag, Karil, Guthan, Dharok, Ahrim. Mage the first five with Flames of Zamorak, wearing full melee offensive armour. DDS + d scim on ahrims. Obviously skip any brothers that lead to the cavern and go back once 5 are dead. Now kill 8 rats/worms as you make your way to the chest, the last brother usually appears as you open chest, kill him before looting. Loot chest. Teleport home - Pray at your altar, use the portal room to teleport back to canifis, run to the bank and resupply if necessary. (Otherwise save a few seconds and just go straight back to the cellar)
  2. Well it looks like I'll be doing a lot of barrows and not much else so I might as well record my loots. Note that every chest will be 6 brothers dead and 8 mobs, as this is supposedly the best way. 2nd chest - Dharok's helm! 35th chest - Torag's hammers... 50th chest - Guthan's helm!!
  3. Maples all the way to 99. They're more than double the total xp/hour than magics or yews, and still fairly profitable. Wear a bunny necklace for much more common bird nest drops, they can significantly increase the amount of money you get.
  4. Meh I never used it and can't imagine many others will either when the novelty soon wears off... Really happy to see almost all the other little patches though, I'll have to time travel a bit so so they give me a ThZaar slayer task, so I can check my progress as I 1hp dharok Jad with the use of my rock cake, It'll take me 1m tries of course!
  5. Hmm I'm looking for this research but can't seem to find any. I really am curious how large the difference is between 6 kills (Only barrows) and 14 kills (6 barrows 8 monsters). I accept the possibility and probability that it does increase the chance to get items, I question by how much and the blanket statement that 8 is the magic number for optimal efficiency for everyone (IE 1 defense mage pures can kill brothers fast and safe, but mobs are relatively difficult to kill) Furthermore, is there a reliable estimate of chance of item per chest with 14 killed? If they know that it's best surely they had to first work out roughly how common the loot is and a large sample size to compare it with other variations in killcount.
  6. If you don't kill a brother you don't get the option to get their loot... So, if you killed 1 brother and 13 skeletons, you'd have the same chance of receiving any of that specific brothers loot, but this of course is 1/6th the chance of ANY barrows item if you had all 6 brothers. Hmm i just read through the first dozen pages of the forum dean was on and it's worth noting they're talking about EOC barrows which has been through several changes... I've always thought kill brothers only and you get roughly 1/16 chance of item... Monsters just give runes...

One can assume that, like many other things in the game, a higher killcount adds to the chance of an item with an exponentially declining rate. 13 kills may be slightly better than 8 kills, but 25 kills isn't very much better than 13.. for example Well first of all... Dean claims that killing monsters increases your chance of barrows items (excluding bolts presumably)? Are you sure he didn't say it gives the optimal amount of cash (ie more runes)? I only brought it up to help gauge the practicality of training melee on the skeletons and making optimal profit while maintaining high xp. (Accomplished by doing as few chest openings as possible) It likely is a exponentially decreasing increase in reward, and if it is, it'd be useful to know at what rate the increase of reward declines.
  8. Oh... Ankous then. Decent cash. Does anyone know exactly how the barrows chest functions with kill count? Like if you killed 200 skeletons, would you get lots of runes... Or is there an upper limit of like 8?
  9. At the moment I would recommend chaos tunnel mummies (The ones you chin)... Because they drop ancient staff which currently goes for 180k ea. Also a few rune items and very frequent sapphire/emerald jewellery that is worth alching. Should pay for your prayer pots and then some.
  10. Gonna use these prices... Nature rune = 290 Coal = 210 Steel bar = 730 Iron bar = 240 Iron ore = 100 So straight away you see you lose 50gp per iron bar if you mine the ore yourself... And you make 20gp profit per steel bar, again assuming you mined the iron ore. 150 loss per iron bar without mining anything. 80 loss per steel bar without mining anything. Steel bars all bought is a cheaper alternative to alching for easy low cost magic xp, though it's kinda annoying and slow.

  12. Well back when the standard spellbook spell "charge" came out, there was no delay between casts, and it gave a massive 180 xp for 3 blood runes. So you could just spam click for fast albeit expensive xp. But then they made it so you wait 60 seconds between casting... Has it been patched in 07 yet?
  13. So it's not triggered by attempting to open the chest naturally? It just happens when you're normally checking chest for traps?
  14. Hey so I've been looting the nature rune chest while alching for some extra xp/gp... I notice sometimes when a bot fails the chest will spit out poison damaging everyone, and often the bots die because of it... So how do i make it poison? Every time i do it it just damages me once and nobody dies...
  15. I'll play it as long as it has a few dharok pkers on at any given time, the fact noobs won't be playing doesn't really effect me besides making food a bit more expensive. It was fairly predictable people would have a go of the new gimmick and then abandon it, i just hope Jagex foresaw that and won't do something silly like charge $15/month or even close the servers down. I guess there's always Guild Wars 2 if OS dies... (Similar combat to RS3 but obviously much better)

I learned a cool trick recently, you get no randoms in pest control bank so people autoalch there, if you alch just east of the bank till you get a strange plant some of the popular alch bots run to click your plant as some sort of random prevention feature... Then they go back to alching in that spot; where they get randoms, and swarm can kill them.

Hi Hedgehog, that's excellent and does exactly what I asked for, I can see how to change the parameters to meet my needs. :) I intend to create an application to run 100's of items automatically separate from the browser, hopefully directly from whatever database zybez uses rather than the actual web pages.
  19. That's just not true. There are not 5 people of every combat range in every world. You're lucky to find 1 noob that doesn't know what the proper PK worlds are, or you'll find 2 guys that have hopped specifically to fight each other. In my experience people tend to not fight again after a few fights (myself included) so you need lots of opponents for variety. No, you can not rely on coincidentally finding someone like you in a random world. Friends protecting you is very impractical. I know what you mean, i often PK in the same area as friends and if one of us happened to not be in a fight and saw someone about to rush we'd stop them, but we're usually in our own fights or looking for one, or just don't see the rusher. You can't rely on this. I really don't feel like i'm exaggerating here. You're rushed in about 33% of all fights and going to other worlds is seriously NOT an option, i don't know how on earth you got that into your head...
  20. "Get people to fight you on random worlds" - What a waste of time, what a horrible situation you must put yourself because the combat system is flawed and you have to hide from rushers. Many people will refuse to waste their time and hop to another world to fight you once or twice. "Get friends to protect you from PJers" - You must have some good friends to protect you for hours at a time, mostly ineffective too as a dbower can just run up and spec you from nowhere at any time. Another huge waste of (other people's) time to get around the system being flawed. I think a better way to tackle this would be for you to present a reason why a PJ timer SHOULDN'T be added other than "change is bad". Ineffectual impractical ways to get around it not really convincing me that no change is necessary.

I'm basically thinking about a tool that could refresh specific webpages such as forum market places and analyse the data in specifically chosen fields, if the data is below a set amount it would present itself in some way (perhaps make a noise or pop up some text) to inform me. For example it could be set to refresh http://forums.zybez....280-nature-rune every 10 minutes, and if it ever sees "Selling (>1000) for (<290)" it would let me know. A very useful merch tool. Do you know if this is possible to create? And what would be the best thing to create it with?

  23. It really is objective and I've talked about in other threads a truly effective "PK" build would be a cowardly dbow rusher, for most kills, fewest deaths, most money consistently earned... I guess the 40 defense build is just what I feel is the most fun area to stop at and truly "Most power per cb level" It's the point you unlock vengeance and the best powerful cheap/free armour. 1 attack 60 strength sucks FYI, iban pures own them. I don't personally have what I'd recommend others get because I'm going to be a dharoks pker straight up, I feel low risk wildy is flawed with the reobtainable untradables and it makes it very costly. (It's almost impossible to break even if you win every single fight, the risks are just too garbage while food and pots are expensive.)
