  1. Regret: Choosing physics as my major instead of computer science. Meh, I guess there's always graduate school for comp. sci. Maybe I'll survive that.
  2. So I guess I will post this here instead of some Halo thread, cause it has to do more with music, but Martin O'Donnell's contract with Bungie was terminated for no reason. He's been the composer/co-composer for Bungie's games for a while now (so H1, H2, H3, Halo Reach, and Destiny). I really liked his music, and I'll never forget the main Halo theme (I doubt many others will). So I'm disappointed. He made some killer music. http://kotaku.com/halos-composer-fired-without-cause-1563698238
  3. I played around 7 games last night. I had to force myself to keep playing. I was getting angry because I was doing really bad. Haven't gotten used to FPSs on the keyboard and mouse. But I told myself that I just have to play more to get used to it. So I kept playing even though I was all heated. I think the thing that most messes me up is tracking people while they fly around and tracking people while I'm flying around. I'd probably have an easier time if it was COD, where you can't jump really high up into the air and where players aren't zipping around the map so fast.
  4. I'm listening to the Ender's Game soundtrack while I write a paper about it. Definitely putting me into the mood. EDIT: I mean seriously, I can't be the only one who thinks it's cool to feel a legitimate emotional response when listening to something like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVhgZhTdEGI

Got sick of drawing Feynman diagrams for physics homework. I bought some Cinnful Apple Angry Orchard hard cider, so I broke that open. Now I'll probably try and play some Smite. Gotta write a paper tomorrow. Probably do a comparison between Arena and Ender's Game and the aliens in both.
  6. I was watching my housemates play it on the 360, and I found it funny because one of them loves COD, and plays Titanfall the exact same way as you would COD, which doesn't really work. And I realized the playing on the controller makes utilizing the jump system a lot more difficult (unless you've got a scuff or you play claw). Cause wall-running effectively requires being able to turn while in mid-air, which is real cumbersome on a controller (taking your thumb of the thumbstick to press A, etc).

Prolog is one [bleep]ed up programming language, I'll just say that. Aside from that, it's pretty neat.

I get along fine with people in real life. I just find that I share interests/have more in common with those people I interact with over the internet. I like staying in, playing video games, watching movies/youtube videos; my friends prefer getting smashed every weekend and most week nights. In other news, it's 2:30am and I just finished up a late night coding session with my partner for this group project. We are writing a lexer for this mini language our prof outlined for us. 7 hours ago it looked like were weren't going to be able to turn anything in. But we managed to attack the problem step by step and put something together that works great aside from one minor detail. So I'm happy. It would've been a drag to spend 7 hours working on something that doesn't work. EDIT: just realized i was responding to a message on the previous page. oh well

I had a lot of online friends during my Runescape days. That's what I miss. I'd spend hours just hanging out and talking. I don't have much in common with my real life friends anymore.
  10. Dead Space 1 is free on Origin. Even though it's Origin, I decided free is a pretty good deal to pass up.
  11. I didn't, but I follow one of the players on twitter, so I was getting updates on how his team was doing. There were still a lot of viewers for it, right, despite Ghosts being a terrible game (my opinion)?

About to graduate in May with a major in Physics and a minor in Computer Science... Unfortunately, I have no desire to go to graduate school for physics, and research really isn't for me. I basically [bleep]ed myself over with my choice of major because I don't love physics at all. All my major does is tell people I work my ass off and that I'm ok at solving physics problems. $23,000 worth of loans to pay off (I was lucky with scholarships and stuff). Still, that will be $237 a month for the next ten years (assuming I don't get lucky and manage a kick ass job that pays a shit ton of money). Really have no idea what I'm going to do once I graduate. Hmm... I seem to be pretty good at school. How about grad school for Computer Science? lol
  13. I tried using a controller on my PC for the game. I felt slower and didn't feel any more accurate with my shots despite being very comfortable with playing fps with controllers. Guess I will have to just get used to the keyboard and mouse.

Sure. But I like to think he was being polite in doing so. :p

Card said that none of his books could be made into a movie. I think they chose the book which had the most potential as a movie, but then they [bleep]ed it up for the most part.

If you aren't a fan of the books, I'd say Ender's Game was an entertaining movie. The graphics and cinematography were pretty awesome. Some of the acting was below par, though. And the plot is semi-suspenseful (though I think the movie didn't do a good job at all of building up to the climax; I've told everyone who went to see the movie that they should have read the book first). But, if you are a fan of the books (I am a huuuuge fan), the movie is utter crap. However, I did like the visual interpretation of the battle room. The battles weren't as cool as they were in the books. But I liked seeing what someone thought it would look like (because I, for one, would love flying around in a room like that). And second, I really liked the musical score. I bought the movie even though it got so many things wrong and there were so many things I didn't like about it. I bought it because Ender's Game is among my top 3 favorite books. I would have bought the movie regardless of how good it was, just because it's a movie based on one of my favorite books.
  17. I have a roommate who loves that song. He loves that movie, actually. I like to give him shit for it, but I really don't hold anything against him.
  18. Went to watch 300: Rise of an Empire. I guess it was entertaining. So much blood and crazy shit. Pretty ridiculous. Also, there was a weird, violent, angry sex scene in it which my friend and I found extremely funny. Definitely not worth $8.50. But I'd say a good movie to redbox when it comes out.

I'd find it funny if Sheldon was boning me. Only for a second, though.
  21. Since I've never played an FPS on the PC, I'm getting wrecked in Titanfall. Fortunately, I can always go for the grunts and spectres, which makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something. The other night I went 1 pilot kill with 6 deaths, but the game was worth it because I managed to get a titan kill by completely ripping the arms off another titan. I was so pumped after that kill that it didn't matter if I did shitty afterwards. I just need to make sure I approach this game "uncompetitively," since I want to have fun, and getting competitive (for me) kind of ruins a game and the fun of playing it.
  22. Someone a few pages ago talked about the movie The Raid. Well, I saw in the previews when I went to see The Monuments Men that The Raid 2 is being made. That shit's gonna be intense. As for The Monuments Men, I liked it a lot. Even though it is set in the time during the Nazi regime, fortunately it had very little super gory scenes. There were some occasional intense deaths, but nothing like Saving Private Ryan or other Nazi war movies. Actually, there was quite a lot of comedy in it, which really made the movie fun. And the plot was interesting enough. I'd give it a 9/10.

Back in Spokane. I still want to be at home on break. Tomorrow is a homework day for sure. And I drank a Rockstar since I drove home from Seattle this morning and was pretty tired during the drive to Spokane. Now it's keeping me up even though I want to go to bed.
  25. Lol! Those are pretty unique features. I liked running around the city and on rooftops, so I knew all the ship stuff in Black Flag wouldn't be my cup of tea. But I can see how if you like that kind of stuff, the game is awesome.
