  1. If your only goal in life is to make it to your grave as safely as possible, you will probably succumb to the same fate as all the other people out there who chose to live a life of mediocrity: http://www.collective-evolution.com/2013/04/27/the-top-5-regrets-of-the-dying/ You are correct about happiness/success being measured by the things you do though I was mainly talking about my whole family and the people around me who expect me to become some brilliant physicist or something. My life and my happiness aren't going to be determined by a super successful career. I'd rather work an average job and get to raise a family and experience that to the fullest.
  2. A lot of people want to make a huge impact on the world and do fantastic things. I am completely fine with living an average life and just being a good person to those around me. I don't think my idea of being successful and happy depends on how big of things I do. I'm quite content with the idea of working an average job. I think that as long as I marry someone I love and have a few kids, that's the most excitement I'll need to be happy.

  5. I remember watching that movie on Netflix. Unbelievably intense.

About to go TA a physics lab. Sucks that they switched from using KyPlot to Excel. The stuff we do in physics lab is so much easier and straightforward using KyPlot. Now I have to refresh myself on how to do all the same stuff with Excel, and make sure I can remember it in case the students don't remember. It sucks TAing a Monday/Friday lab. If Monday is a holiday, lab gets moved to Friday, meaning I get to spend the majority of my Friday early evening in a lab, which blows.

^ I'm seriously considering trying those, too. I use disposable ones because they work fine for me, and I definitely hate spending 30+ dollars for every five razors if I were to buy expensive name brand stuff. If I can get a better shave with that, and spend less, I'm all for it.
  8. I doubt I'm dehydrated. That's one thing I made sure of when I got back to school. I've been drinking water like crazy (and not just right before workouts - all the time). Maybe it is because I'm out of shape, but I've never experienced something like this in my life. And I've been out of shape plenty of times. I just find it weird that the nausea goes away for the most part if I keep working out. Maybe that's because my brain is occupied more with the workout than with the fact that I'm feeling sick. And I guess I also have a terrible tendency to psyche myself out so that a little nausea turns into a full blown "i'm definitely going to throw up" feeling. Meh, I'm going to try and go to the gym every day at the same time as my class to get my body adjusted faster. I just really hate lagging behind in workouts. Part of that is because there are other dudes in the class who I know I should be finishing before. But hey, I'm competitive when it comes to stuff like that.
  9. Triple post! So this is more of a question for you guys. I didn't feel like I should start a new topic for this, so I'll just ask it here. Over Christmas break, my sleep schedule was really messed up. I would go to bed at around 2am or 3am and wake up at around 10am or 11am. Now that school has started, I have a morning fitness class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7am. The past two classes, I've felt very nauseous during the workout. Specifically, after doing a portion of the workout and getting a water break or something. The first day, we did a quick and easy workout and I felt fine during it (a little tired but that's because I'm out of shape). At the end, when we started the post-workout stretch, I suddenly felt very sick (to the point where I thought I would throw up). The second day, we did a longer workout. We started off which a bunch of pushups, situps, jumping jacks, lunges, skiers, squats, etc. I felt alright while doing these, but then, once we stopped to take a water break before doing the next circuit, the nausea hit me really hard, and I felt like I was going to throw up again. I was thinking about not doing the next circuit (which would be very embarrassing for me since it wasn't difficult and I had never had this issue last semester), I decided to try and do it. Once I started doing the circuit, the nausea lessened. It was still there, enough to make me very slow at doing the workout. So my question involves whether or not my body adjusting to my new activity schedule likely explains my nausea during workouts. If so, I'm hoping it will go away as I get myself used to waking up early again. Again, I didn't have this issue last semester, and it's the same class, so it has me slightly worried.

School started. We got into groups for our final presentation in my philosophy class (at the end of the semester), and I already know two of the dudes won't do any work (I've done a group project with one of them before and I did it all, and the other straight up told us that he wasn't planning on doing any work for the class). Fantastic. Programming language class will be tough, since we'll be working with Haskell and Prolog, which all rely on recursion which I'm not too good at.

    >chrome >ads You're welcome. I watch a lot of YouTube videos and Twitch streams so I don't run adblocker. I'm willing to let advertisements run if I know I'm supporting whoever I'm watching.
  13. Saw The Lone Survivor. Quite a depressing movie, at least for me. I walked out of that theater not in a good mood (not because the movie was bad, but because of the subject matter nature of the plot). So it ruined my day in that sense. But the fact that it could affect me that much emotionally probably speaks to its quality. One thing I really liked about it is that it was super realistic when it came to gunfights. The people weren't, I guess "super soldiers" like in most war movies (zero dark thirty specifically comes to mind, where the soldiers rarely take heavy gunshot wounds). I mean, these dudes get shot up and take damage like crazy. Not to mention the amount of damage they take from the environment. Anyways, ultimately, I'll give it an 8/10. Also saw RIPD for the first time. It was ok, I guess. The plot moved along real fast, and a lot of the dynamics were pretty iffy when it came to how the two worlds interacted. Jeff Bridges was funny. I'll give it a 7/10.

So Chrome has this thing now so you can see which tabs are contributing to audio output. Seems pretty nifty, especially if there are those annoying ads on certain pages that automatically play. Just something I noticed.

I'm used to eating at least two apples a day, but I've gone three weeks without any apples during this winter break and it's killing me!
  16. My little sister (Sophomore in college) wanted me and my older sister to watch the One Direction movie with her, so we did. My confession is that it wasn't too bad. The amount of girls who go bat shit crazy over them was hilarious to watch. But also, their music isn't too bad. Kinda picks me up, I guess.
  17. Skryim is seven dollars cheaper now. It's only $7.50, which is a steal. 114 hours into it. Got bored for a while but then I started the Companion's quest line, which I finished in an evening. I guess my plan now is to look at the achievements and just focus on getting those, cause I don't really know what else to do. I guess I could look into some mods, but eh. Maybe I'll take a break and pick up Black Ops 2. I'm craving some multiplayer game. EDIT: Borderlands 2 says -125% on the featured page, which got me excited, but it's only -75%. Still, I'm thinking about getting it. What do you guys think?

I got my final grades today. Surprised that I got an A in my database class. Also, I got my first mechanical keyboard today. It's real sexy. Brown switches were a good choice. It is also has a blue backlight, which is awesome.
  19. I bought The Witcher 1 and 2. Just another series I'll have to play through now. Still pretty addicted to Skyrim.

So close to being done. Last final is in three hours! asljfshojkljejhow gonna get my pee pee kicked in, though
  21. Still progressing through Skyrim. Taking my time doing side-quests and stuff mixed in with the main quest. My character's a stealth character. My sneak is around 82. That shit is so overpowered, but it's so fun. Trying to get my magic skills up, too, cause i like the way magic looks. In short, really enjoying the game. It's hard to be motivated to study for finals and do final projects when the icon to play is sitting on my desktop.

Four days until the semester is done. Why does it feel like there's weeks left?! Oh, I know why, cause I'm up to my ears in shit to do.
  23. Watched Man of Steel last night. I guess it was ok. I would say 6/10. The action was alright. But I thought the villain was pretty lame. There were parts in the movie where I was extremely bored. But, now I can say I've watched it at least.
  24. Went to the midnight premiere of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. Daaaaaaaaaaaamn. 10/10. Liked every moment of it. Well, almost everything. [hide]Thought the love affair between the elf maiden and one of the dwarves was pretty dumb.[/hide]
