Black Sheeps in Lumbridge
It's part of the recent re-work of the starting F2P Quests. They've added quest-specific items instead of buyable ones (for example, a special egg for Cook's Assistant and a special hammer for Vampire Slayer). The icons are to notify the new player that the item or NPC is part of a certain quest (each quest that got re-worked has its own icon). As part of this update Draynor Manor had a graphical update as well. It's sort of odd that they didn't even mention this in the In Other News section though

Prodigal Son Returns
The one thing that RS people don't seem to understand (since the only PC game that they have played is RS most of the time) is that maxing in Runescape is an achievement or endgame in and of itself. However, in WoW it is expected that everyone gets the max level because: 1) It's easy 2) It allows you to actually USE the real game content like raids and arena 3) Updates rarely cater to those below level 80 WoW is definitely the better game from a technical standpoint, meaning not only graphics but fluidity of the combat system. In Runescape you don't need to learn spell rotations, have quick reflexes, learn to counter other moves, etc since the combat system is simple. You click, you use prayers and you eat. In WoW the combat is much more in-depth and fun. However, RS definitely has better quests than WoW (and any other MMO for that matter) Many might say that the community in WoW is not as mature as it should be, but Runescape's community is a joke. You can't walk 5 minutes without seeing two 12 year olds arguing over who is the "noob" and who isn't. Its rediculous.

thinking of playing runescape again after over a year
If PvP is where your heart is at then i dont think you should come back to Runescape just yet. Jagex claims that they are working on making PvP better (even though they are "satisfied" with the current state of affairs), but as of now Runescape is definitely a PvE game. Combat was never its strong point anyway to be frank..

Adventurer's Log - Updated 18th November
The fact that it's still in Beta doesnt prove that Jagex is forgetful, it proves nothing except for the fact that Jagex doesn't want to be responsible for any bugs that the system might have. Why do you think Gmail was in beta for years?

The 100 logs is a bug that they are fixing as we speak. Check RSOF before you spew your ignorance.

Prayer Drain
Is there any confirmed, definitive article or guide that i can read on prayer drain? I don't really understand how prayer drain works. What effect do prayer bonuses from armour give to prayer drain, and does prayer drain faster depending on how many prayers you are using, or which prayers you are using?

Stellar Dawn scrapped, new one being developed
Except that Valve has a proven track record of excellent titles when the only thing Jagex has is a click-based browser MMO full of 12 year old kids. ;) A more accurate comparison to Valve in terms of the MMO world would be Blizzard.

Video Footage of the old Mechscape!
I'd take what you read on MSW a little lighter than you are. Sure the game is getting an overhaul, but scrapped is not the key word. It's not like they are starting completely from scratch. In fact, to quote Mod Mark Gerhard..... Personally I think this means they are completely changing the way the game plays, but not the graphics or models. A lot of people seem to be upset with the way it looks, because honestly it does look like Runescape in SD mode. I would love if Jagex would change the models around, and even move to a different engine, but chances are they won't. MMG just did a follow-up forum post to this video (link: http://[Censored - Don't use a URL shortner]/QhHc1) and he stated that the graphics in this game were developed before even Runescape HD came out. Therefore, the graphics in the video are nowhere near what the final game is going to be like. The delay is probably going to cause the graphics to be even better than Runescape HD as well. So yes, the graphics are going to be completely changed, not just the gameplay.

Video Footage of the old Mechscape!
Guys, dont worry about what you see in this video. Stellar dawn recently got scrapped (MMG confirmed it on www.mechscapeworld.com) and they are re-doing the whole game. MMG and Andrew thought that the game was not up to their standards, and most of you agree with them that it doesnt appear to be that great of a game. So be glad they are re-doing it. :) This video does provide some pretty cool insights into Stellar Dawn though. It would be interesting to compare the final game to this video.

Stellar Dawn scrapped, new one being developed
I highly doubt the CEO of a multi-million dollar company would do something so stupid

Stellar Dawn scrapped, new one being developed
MMG recently did a QnA with the Mechscapeworld fansite link: http://www.mechscapeworld.com/ In this QnA he revealed that when he and Andrew played the completed game, they felt it was not up to their standards and decided to stop trying to "fix" the game and just build a new one. He also revealed that the name of Mechscape is in fact Stellar Dawn. Now it makes sense that the previous head of mechscape, Henrique Olifiers, resigned. This means that the game will not be released around the holiday period of 2009 as was previously confirmed, but late next year.

20-Oct-2009 - Ardougne Achievement Diary
Can someone explain what the "people can now purchase multiple skillcapes" update means? Could you only have one skillcape at a time before?

Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
I must say a lot of people on RSOF and TIF got the hint spot on. Many people said Ardougne Achievement Diary and Dual Arena update. Grats guys :)

Its either: 1) To close the minimap (which can be restored later) 2) To quit the game

'NextScape' (MechScape) to launch March 2009
I personally am glad that Jagex is making several games/platforms. They are growing as a company, and expanding their markets. You guys need to realize that Jagex isn't going to be that informal, small team run by Paul, Andrew, and Constant anymore. They are a real company now with a bigwig CEO and 400 employees. This was inevitable considering the popularity of Runescape. I think they will be able to develop Mechschape without ruining the Runescape experience. After all, they are developing for FunOrb, yet we still have bi-weekly updates, and a huge graphical update coming our way.

Lol, calling other people nerds on the internet is so childish. Are you guys gonna grow up any time soon?

Will the new graphics be "Acceptable?"
I think the graphics look pretty impressive honestly (and I play high-graphics games such as Crysis and COD4) The textures are sharp, the 4x anti-aliasing will get rid of all the rough jaggies, the lighting and shadows make the game look really advanced for a Java game, and the water looks gorgeous. I think that Runescape will be much more marketable now, to new players and other-mmo players as well. Plus, Jagex will always update the graphics of Runescape (compare RS2 when it came out with today's RS2, theres a pretty big difference in graphics quality)

Your graphics card is an integrated chip with no dedicated memory. Your processor cannot be upgraded unless you buy a new one. However, you can't just install a new processor in an old computer, you will have to buy a new computer. Basically, you are screwed. \

Guide to RuneScape's new Graphics - Do YOU meet the Req's?
I have: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86ghz 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM Nvidia 8800 GTS 320 MB Considering I have a dual core, 2 gigs of ram, and a DirectX-10 level graphics card, and that I can run Crysis at High.... My computer is going to OWN the new runescape graphics. G'day.

LOL at the people who say that the new interface looks like WoW. You guys DO realize that Runescape was the ONLY mmorpg that didn't have that kind of interface? Every single mmorpg has that kind of interface, because it looks the nicest, and is the most efficient. Runescape getting this kind of interface is not "copying" any game, it's becoming a real mmorpg, instead of a small java game that people play while browsing forums.

Rs2: Blaming Miniclip For All The Evils Of Runescape
Runescape did have its fare share of immature players back in the day, but Miniclip made the game unbearable to play. It was really the only reason that I quit the game... it was just getting way out of hand. I have NO PROBLEM with kids playing video games (especially a family-friendly game like runescape) but when the kids are PURPOSELY acting like brats and calling people "lol YOU ARE A NOOB LUZL1" then its annoying.

Oh I'm a bachelor and I'm ok...
1 word: Bertolli (Frozen pasta dinners that come in all different pasta types and flavors, and it t tastes like resteraunt food. 10 minutes on a skillet and your good to go!)
-
Will anyone be left to play RS in 5 years?
The reason why I quit runescape wasnt because of the graphics (all though they are terrible) or the updates. I quit because the majority of players are immature and ignorant little kids who talk trash every second. Ive since gone on to much more mature games which you actually have to pay for, but am still waiting for Runescape 3.
