  1. A local world 83 player mod is so cabbage'd off about the green dragon bots he sees daily that when he reports them, he personally follows up reports with J mods on the private forums every day until action is taken. Never seen a mod so frustrated about bots before. Glad he is taking action and demanding the same from the higher uppers. Some of you argue that it keeps resources cheaper. But think about it, it's a false economy run by bots right there. Regardless of that; if bots were gone, demand would rise and legit players would fill the gap to supply that demand. Honest players earn more profit and it settles into a comfortable balance. It is a pretty sad state when you start to wonder if any players around you are legitimately playing or letting a macro do the work. Almost certain there was two bots at the abyssal demons the other day. Kept trying to attack my targets even while i was seconds into engaged combat. Kinda makes you wonder why you're following these rules that few others do, and get away with. I got the same opinion. I actually think some of us posting on this thread have used or are using bots (at one time or another) to take the easy way out. I consider it cheating and playing the game legitimately will give you more opportunities in the long run. It's like saying how so many people try to make it to show business so that they can make a quick buck and be famous quickly. But they aren't committed to staying there for long. That's why I argue how a lot of present day music artists are only recording songs for the paper, they fail to have a passion to keep going and adapt to drastic changes. They want the easy ways of doing things, and will try to take shortcuts to get the job done. Better to come off clean, and be proud with the work you have accomplished. Rather than use a program to do the dirty work for you, and wonder why something doesn't feel right.
  2. I think Jagex is starting to look into this issue as they reported a while ago that there were bots abusing the Soul Wars mini-game. Currently they are commonly found at Aubrey's in Varrock, at the Red Chinchompa hunting spots, at the Green Dragons in Wilderness and the Chaos Tunnels, and perhaps at Living Rock Caverns. I just hope the ban hammer comes along and gets rid of many of them. However, banning accounts shouldn't be the only thing. They should ban IP Addresses so that they won't just go and make another account only to macro later on.
  3. These are all having a dramatic effect on the way we talk in general. I always preferred complete, sophisticated grammar because that tells me the person is a bit intelligent. You look back at the past and you can see the way people talked, it was more sophisticated and more formal. These days, it's all about being casual. Nobody really talks in that formal, courteous manner anymore like you saw in the early-mid 20th century. On the Internet there is a lot of bragging and boasting. Internet users are basically comprised of Generation X and Y people who enjoy speaking in "L33T" and short-talk such as "lol", "imo" and "wth". No, this isn't stereotyping or saying that all do. It's the majority and the change of the English language. Slang gets old and becomes dead.
  4. The way I do it is do one clue scroll for every Slayer task. Doing a number of Clue Scrolls for one task is to me, a waste of time. Most of the time I get rune items that are less than 50k, but every once in a while I get a couple Zamorak pages worth 500-600k, which is often nice. Even the Elite Clue Scrolls mostly give out junk. You receive better profit overall, though you can't expect a nice item every time. I managed to get Saradomin and Zamorak torn pages on level 1 Clue Scrolls, but the chances aren't as good as they are on Elites.
  5. Is your story on the forum boards?

I get an error message saying we could not find the topic you are trying to view.

    Herblore

There's always a trade-off. What's profitable is not the fastest method, and what's fastest is not all that profitable. Vice versa. I don't play on a consistent basis. And I'm not up-to-date with the methods used because I am one of the older players who hasn't had the time to fully get comfortable with the profit and training methods. I normally don't consider skilling to be too profitable, rather more in hand of being a fast player. If 100K essence is what I need for 80+ Runecrafting, than I'll probably go and do it, despite being slow (slower than Agility). I never did unidentified potions and sold them on GE, because I believe that is a profit making method, not necessarily a way to level up Herblore.
  7. Efficiency and how you do it are two different things. When you start to push them onto other people as I already see on these boards, that's practically forcing them to be out of their comfort zone. During the past two years or so there has been a giant push by Jagex to force players to become more efficient with the way they train. Two of them I know of, Drumgun and Zarfot in particular, try to maximize being efficient in the shortest time possible and that is why they are tops in XP. As I recall by the older generation, I often ran into players such as Zezima and The Old Nite who actually did a bit of running around and doing various activities that weren't XP based (Castle Wars, Duel Arena, etc), neither did they have a mini-game hiscore. When I smelt ore at the furnace with just my default clothes, there is a message telling me, "If you had worn your Varrock armor you could of smelt 2 bars at the same time". That's Jagex persuading me to be a little more efficient with how I train, that I can do it quicker than I already can.
  8. Now that I think of it, I should of kept that Green Mask and Santa Hat I had in my bank years ago. Now I'm paying the price for being stupid on selling them when they were 300-500k (back on early RS2)

    Herblore

At level 76, it seems disappointing that I cannot make Extremes let alone Saradomin Brews. Biggest problem? Lack of funds. One goal I set months back was to reach 80+ in all stats. 80 Dungeoneering can be done with a team, 80 Runecrafting will take a lot of Essence (really not that much considering it's less than 200 GP ea and you can get 100+ essence per day as a reward for doing Ardougue diary), and 80 Farming only needs a bit of cash and a few dozen tree/fruit tree seeds. But Herblore poses a problem. It is difficult for me because I normally spend my money on various items and skills if I happen to have more than 50M GP in the bank. The past year I had no problem with Herblore because it was much cheaper. Now with the update and increasing costs of inflation, I may have to shell anywhere from 50-150M GP just to get 81-85 Herblore. One way to pay some of it off is to sell the potions back (no Extremes) and go on TD/GWD trips. But the boss hunting trips are luck-based, not skill-based, and I will still lose a lot of money even if I sell the potions back. I only know the methods to obtain a high Herblore level prior to the Extremes update during the first part of 2010. I am capable of doing it, yet Herblore will cost me more money than I normally spend on Prayer and Construction.
  10. Very interesting, but I know most of this considering that I followed the hiscores and stat pictures from early 2003 to mid 2006. I think in this situation I prove to be valuable because I got a number of pictures from that era of Runescape. Sadly most of them are bank pictures and showing off my stats, but I have a few famous players and a few 'received' pictures that might be worth viewing.

    My "luck"

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Jagex has ever given out the drop rates of an item. That being said, you can't take any drop rate stated by another player as truth and expect a whip every 500 kills like Mr. 99Slayerawesomedude says. Don't expect the rare items, or you'll never get them. "A watched pot never boils." As for disconnecting and dying, it happens to all of us. Complain to your ISP if it happens frequently, or pay for a faster connection. All you can do is keep playing, things will even out eventually. I try to think of Runescape (and life, to an extent), like a deck of cards. Everybody gets dealt this deck of cards throughout the time they play. Some people get their Kings and Aces early on, others get dealt 2s, 3s, and other low cards until much later when they start getting a lot of face cards. Just keep going and your luck is bound to improve. By the way, thanks for posting this. I've been at a loss trying to come up with an activity to do in game, and I think I'll go do some Barrows runs. Wish me luck! One of the best statements I've heard in a long time. Just as with everything else, it's a gamble. Some people find success early and then fade out. For others it takes decades before they finally hit their stride and make it big. To do this consistently is not only difficult, but extremely rare.
  12. It's the worst over at green dragons down there. Lots of people there all wearing the same outfits, and they all moved in the same patterns that you really wouldn't expect from an actual player. Actually, they are right next to the baby black dragons. The red chinchompa hunters are obvious, and Jagex has already witnessed the problem over at Soul Wars. But I also sense something suspicious with the miners/fishers in W84 Living Rock Caverns.
  13. People with maxed combat get the big advantage. They can easily camp at Bandos racking in a dozen or so kills at a time while obtaining at least one good item (usually a hilt or shard). I'm put at a big disadvantage because I can't use turmoil, summon a unicorn, or make extremes. Thus my overall profit and kills per trip is not that great.
  14. Despite the cost it is still one of the best combat amulets available. That coupled with Bandos gear, Fire Cape, Dragon Boots, Rune Defender/DFS and a good familiar (Bunyip or Unicorn), you're bound to do a lot of slayer tasks easily.
  15. Any good strategies to kill them other than the Tormented Demons which I can't kill effectively yet or the Corp which is beyond my skills? I lack Extremes and am too low level to use a Unicorn.
  16. Despite Summoning being very useful at high levels, I would go for Ranged. More EXP towards a 99 or Total EXP equals better in my opinion.
  17. I realized that and then I had to turn on Leech Defense in order to hit him.
  18. I have been playing Runescape long enough to know most of the training methods involving skills and strategies to be a good player. I have most skills above 80 and am somewhat efficient in leveling certain stats. But I for one have a piss poor bank account and it's been that way for years. Not because I'm stupid, because I just don't know the best moneymaking methods. For those who are wondering, I hope to increase my budget to around 20-100M in wealth, which includes GP, God Wars gear, TT items, holiday rares, etc. I've been effective with my time and the way I train, but I cannot manage a bank with a considerable amount of wealth or hold on to lots of GP. I tend to throw it away on skills or on luck-based trips in hopes of obtaining a rare, expensive item. I have a terrible bank for my account and I think it's time that I increased the wealth and the budget that I have. With such a low budget I can only train a select number of skills and getting a larger budget seems to be difficult. I understand that it takes a lot of work to obtain a lot of wealth (not merchanting at GE) just as much as it is to obtain high level stats. I know a couple methods to get profit, such as dailies and Miscellania Kingdom, but I know there are more. Whether it's doing an infinite number of Slayer tasks or going on Barrow/God War trips, I just need to know how to increase my budget the legitimate way. Keep in mind that I want to be around the 20-100M range or better. My stats are in the sig.
  19. Yeah, I got confused because Tip It's Dungeoneering guide said that Har'lak is weak to Magic. I think that's wrong. So a rapier along with stat restores and cure poison potions is the best solution?
  20. I used to think it was my network acting up because of down time. A lot of the servers are laggy for me and I think it is a result of Jagex implementing Dungeoneering into the game. It still needs a lot of tweaks and fixes.
  21. Up to this point I have not been on a team where I had to fight Har'lak the Riftsplitter. But he is to me the toughest boss by far, and I'm not counting the Night-Gazer, Shadow Forger or Bal'lak since I haven't fought them yet. He summons showers that deal damage, poison, and lower your stats. My problem is that I cannot hit him, and I've used Melee, Magic and Ranged. Ancients is the only thing I haven't tried with Mage, Ranged doesn't seem to be effective, and I cannot hit him well with Melee. I deal a blow every now and then, but it takes me an average of 2-4 kills before I finally put him down. By then I get a big penalty for the number of deaths I've racked up. Unless Rune Tip It recommends that I use Ancients, Mage is highly uneffective. I was able to kill Rammernaut easily with Mage, not so with Har'lak. What is the best strategy, and what melee weapon should I use?
  22. I pretty much feel the same way. I only started to notice this trend from the past year and I'm just surprised that it took Jagex this long to finally post it out.

    Dungeoneering

Sorry guys, but I'm bumping this topic back up because I still find a lot of flaws with Dungeoneering. I'm doing it purely to raise my skill levels, nothing more. It's not technically a skill. It's a 'Stealing Creation, Soul Wars' influenced mini-game that so happens to be labeled as a skill. Really, is there truly anything new or groundbreaking in Dungeoneering that we haven't seen before? No. I've been playing for several years now and I finally got the nerve to go and try out Dungeoneering two days ago. I'm currently level 37 and I just found out that I have to reset my entire progress to lead me back to Floor 1. For the third time. Seriously Jagex, why do I have to repeat back to where I started over and over again, just because I didn't have the floor to advance to the next floor? The 'prestige' system has really hurt my overall experience and progress in the skill. I managed to gain Dungeoneering XP even when I didn't complete it (excluding XP Lamps, token XP, and other Dungeons giving you one-time XP) when I went to exit up the ladder. I didn't beat the boss but realized that I had a few deaths. Sure, I was bailing out, but I had to do it because I would receive an even worse penalty. My problem is not the tokens or the rewards. It's other players. I already messed up my chances to progress when I had a few teams that were incompetent and had to leave early just when things were starting to heat up. As said earlier, I can only wish that we had NPCs to help us out. I'm sorry but so many teams that train Dungeoneering just aren't worth the trouble.
  24. This is the best comment I've heard yet coming out of this topic. I too, have seen this happen within the past year. I not only see this at the Fishing Guild but also at the Red Chinchompas, Living Rock Caverns, and the Soul Wars mini-game. These bots aren't the same as they were 4-5 years ago. I mentioned this already, but I was training Agility at Ape Atoll a little over a month ago and a level 137 replies that I was botting. I for one never touched a bot program in my life and admitted that I was fast at clicking. Then he goes to PM me to try to calm down and I told him that high levels should know better. He then replies "Level 138s bot you dumb ass you should know better." Like I never seen that coming? They are hard to track down (minus the Red Chin Hunters), and I vividly remember the level 3s who spent weeks at the Yew Trees. I'm upset that Jagex is doing little to fix this problem. This new generation of botters is really taking a toll on the prices at the Grand Exchange and many of the skills on the hiscores in particular. With the addition of Living Rock Caverns and Ivy from the past year, they are perfect training methods for bots because they are AFKable.
