August 26th 2008 - All Fired Up
Considering this is a FIREMAKING update, those requirements are very high. The last beacon already needs lvl 92 firemaking, it shouldn't also need 70 Smithing/59 Construction when those skills have nothing to do with beacon lighting. Oh well, you'll get "that guy" with every update.

Wannabe-mods
You're not allowed to talk about drugs on Runescape. If you want to, do it through an instant messenger, not on Jagex's turf. "If you don't like it, don't look at it" isn't a valid justification for breaking the rules. Oh and one more thing. If you've ever reported someone for Rules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, or 16, you are a gigantic hypocrite.

Wannabe-mods
Wannabe mods are annoying, but their presence keeps the game from turning anymore for the worst, so we have to live with them. I've found that your best bet is to think before you speak, generally that helps in not saying something that can be taken out of context. Then again if you have that many offenses for offensive language, you've got to be doing something wrong. Think of it like having spiders living in your house. They kill smaller pests and feast on their entrails[1] but some of the bigger ones will bite you if you encroach on their territory. Racism has gone to far
But here's the thing. Once they do that, they can start handing out temporary bans, removing reporting rights, and handing out other such punishments much much easier than before, because if anyone complains that they didn't know the rules? Bull. Jagex gave them ample opportunity to learn how to use the report system effectively, be that through the tutorial, in the game via the stronghold of security and whatever this new one is, as well as multiple documents on the knowledge base. 1st offense: Warning 2nd Offense: 24 hour removal of reporting rights 3rd offense: week long 4th offense: month long 5th offense: Complete removal of reporting rights

Do You Take HD For Granted?
Everytime I look at the difference between the items pictured on the ground, and then what they look like in your inventory, I'm reminded just how big of a leap HD was, graphics wise. Aside from that, I think I take them for granted. I didn't play my f2p def nub for a month until they made the HD f2p with extendable window, just because I had gotten so used to it being full screen and the regular suddenly looked so teeny. And it really made me think about what people have asked me in the past...How did I get used to everything being so small? :shock:

Pker attitude-Spreading like a disease?
Absolutely. I met a small clan of pkers that I joined, they were pretty nice, not to mention hilarious. I was the supply-guy of the clan, getting everyone the pots and foods they needed at lower prices. Every single one of them got banned around the same time (I had nothing to do with it, and by "all of them" I mean the clan had only 6 people in it) for offensive language, but I still thought they were nice guys.

I really don't think it's possible for them to receive pictures or anything more complex than basic text. Anyway, I doubt there would be any way to enforce it. I think if jagex brought in a system where you could send a screenshot in, they would be overfilled with noobs sending in pictures of them going "LOOK LOOK, THIS GUY KILLED ME IN BH UNFAIRLY, MAKE HIM GIVE ME MY STUFF BAK PLLLLZZZZZZ" Which is why Jagex needs to start enforcing the "misuse of customer support" rule, and start taking away the reporting ability of kiddies who misues it.

I would say that person is an idiot for using a horrible method of making a house. Why put so much more stress on yourself? I'd praise someone who can make the most efficient house in the best time. In this case, that would be P2P. Not every person cares about the most efficient means of completing a game (or house) :wall: Some people like to build their houses with their bare hands simply for the challenge of it, which, while being very inefficient, can be very satisfying. Other people prefer to have their houses buil-.... nevermind... I'm not continuing this [cabbage] conversation between houses and runescape. Yea, except those people who build their houses by hand, doing it for the challenge of it, don't usually expect someone to hand them a reward for it at the end, their equivalent of a skillcape.So that analogy is still wrong.

Enforce a megathread policy
I've seen megathreads work in every other forum I've ever been a member of, I don't see why Tip.It would suddenly be an exception. And you wouldn't have 10 different discussions, assuming people can read the thread. So for example, you'd have the: PVP world's effect on _____ megathread, which would stop yet another thread every single time someone saw an item they think may be effected.

Enforce a megathread policy
A megathread is a thread about a subject too small to have its own forum, but so big that you'll have an infinite amount of topics sprouting up about it. My first example is a megathread for the upcoming PVP worlds, which are months away. Myself, and I'm sure many people who frequent the General discussion forum are getting tired of seeing a different thread for: "How will the pvp updates effect: fish armor capes achievements attitude players rates members updates quests cooking skills every little thing under the sun Does everything need its own thread? No. So when it comes to big and much anticipated subjects, I think a megathread should be created and all the discussion on said topic should take place in the megathread.

Umm, you can get a lot more racist than what is written in that pic, granted you're not some kiddie that flips into moral crusade mode every time you see something someone somewhere will find offensive. "OMG, HE SED BLACK PEPEL, CAN'T GET MUCH MORE RACIST DEN DAT!" I suggest you read up on 4chan and their raids on habbo hotel and you'll see how really deep racism over the internet can go. The world isn't set in a with us or against us mood. Just because I don't 100% agree with what the OP said, doesn't mean i'm some racist bigot who wants Nazi KKK members to rule the world. Racist comments have been spreading around the net for over a decade, it's the result of anonymity and no consequences for your words. Reporting and ignoring these players was the best thing to do, not making a redundant thread on an issue that's been talked to death (The concept of "I don't like it, I should ignore and/or report them"), that were it to be seen by the players who did this would only encourage them to sit in the grand exchange and do it more. I say they are not racist because they do not truly believe in what they are saying. They're two teens having a laugh at the expense of other people, getting them riled up to the point of practically throwing up all over their computer because of rage. The internet is serious business.

100% f2p isn't an achievement. Getting 99's in f2p tells Jagex you have no intention of getting members, in which case I doubt they care about your "achievements". Runescape is the only time I've ever seen people expecting to be rewarded for doing something less efficiently.

Only 39% of Americans voted in 2004, of which 50% voted for Bush and 49% voted for Kerry. So only about 20% of Americans voted for Bush. Understandable, considering his approval rating. Oh and about the next President, good luck getting a new President after Bush attacks Iran and delcares ML, suspending the elections.

Ding! Every type of player gets blasted. If you can't deal with it, get off the internet. But Sirgudi makes a very good point, a lot of the general hatred towards pkers came from a section of pking, the pures. And even in that, it was a section of those pures that came out to destroy the reputation of all pkers. The kind of pures I am referring to are the ones that drop traded from their mains, justifying the unfair advantage by saying everyone does it anyway. The kind of players who threaten to sue Jagex on the RSOF becaue a weapon accidentally leveled their defense to 2 and now they're quitting because Jagex ruined their "life". The kind you'll often see ranting that there's no dragon armor equivalent for pures that requires no def levels. The kind of players who rioted after Jagex made it clear that luring was a bannable offense. The kind you'd see posting on the rants forum with a message like "Why was I perma-muted? All I did was tell a player to go [bleep] himself with a [bleep][bleep] and then [long string of *'s] until it falls off. Jagex are clearly biased because I'm a pure, they want me to quit! The kind of players that probably sat in Lumbridge and lured new players with "trust trades", or to the dark wizards south of Varrok (I used to set up new accounts to see how long I'd get before a scam or lure was used against me). These players are hypocrites, and the scum of the game. They only have morals and values when it is convenient to them. Pures are considered the arrogant children (who think they're clever for manipulating the combat system) of the pkers, but it's not like skillers are left out of these assumptions. If you're decent on the overall highscores, you're an autoer/account sharer/ nerd with not life. If you're higher, you are a no life nerd, and if you're lower, you are a newb and therefore lower than the fecal matter of a small woodland chipmunk. Before the trade update, if you weren't willing to give your whip as "charity" to a player who was "just hacked", you were a no life nerd. Replace "give as charity" with "Lend for free" then you have the current predicament. Coin-wise, players begging for 3k in f2p worlds remind me of hobos in New York City begging for change, the only difference is the hobos are old enough to drive. Moral of the story: Both sides get equally bad treatment, it just seems like your side gets it more because you pay more attention to negative views than positive or negative views on the other side. Moral of the moral of the story: Runescape's population is a black void of arrogant children, less-than-offensive immaturity, and acts of idiocy that turn Social Darwinism into a new scientific fact. The strong genes survive, the rest can be found in a Habbo Hotel chat room, browsing /b/, at Falador rioting, getting banned from every venture they come by, and figuring out the fabled million ways to pronounce and spell "noob". Welcome to the internet, may I take your coat?

No i think it just means a quieter community, ive never had a thread on the RSOF rants nor do i browse them regularly, but i think players need a place and have a right to vent and rant somwhere, If anything this just means more rants will come to TIF and by that logic will decrease the quality of the community here, A normal rant session I saw today on the rants forum: "OMG dis update 4 nubs!" *Thread lock* "OMG y u lock thred?" *Thread lock* "WTF STOP LOCK THRED!!one!1!" *Thread lock* "stupid mod, stop locking his threads!" *Thread lock* "Mod ____ is stupid! demod him!" *Thread lock*

That's part of being wrong. They're changing the name because a huge amount of the rants get locked because they're spam or in the wrong forum. Changing the name to game feedback and starting new will help that.

It wasn't a quest, it was a tutorial. It'll probably be as long as other introduction quests, like Wolf Whislte (I doubt it will be f2p)

PK Anywhere: A Skiller's Dream Come True
There aren't going to be millions of bots around, you have absolutely no idea what your'e talking about. Yes, the prices will rise when pkers rejoin and go back to beating each other senselessly, as the demand for potions food and runes will skyrocket. At no or low cost? Have you not noticed that the "masses of bots" are gone? The bots were not here to supply players, they were here to make money to sell to players for real cash. Why the hell would a company set up bots to satisfy pkers? Nice doomsaying on the "any source of income will be destroyed", it just added to you looking like an uninformed fool. What a stupid, ignorant comment to make, completely destroyed any of your credibility. Pking didn't stop any updates, and Jagex isn't going to stop giving skillers updates with the introduction of pvp worlds. Jagex has said nothing about using current worlds for pvp only worlds, you're making things up to use as your evidence. "Pkers always get the best updates", cry about it more, baby. Looks like a few people, like Atta, will be happy that they got their Pker binkie back, so they can cry and whine when anything they don't like happens, that it's the pkers fault. Tl;Dr: One giant facepalm.
