  1. That's true; I was thinking along the linesof running a modified client, but that works too. :P If such a method did exist I'd be interested to know Jagex's stance on it. I certainly can't think of any rules it would breach, but you know how picky Jagex can be at times.
  2. Lol, "legal"? I'm not sure how finding a way to run a java applet in an 800x600 window is illegal. That said, I'm not sure how, but I'm quite sure it's possible. Legal, as in within Jagex's rules. :P I expect the only way to do it is by fiddling with things you shouldn't be, thus against the rules. Although, with that said, that could breach over into "illegal" in real world terms too if you're reverse engineering their client or something.
  3. I highly doubt it. There's certainly not any legal ways of doing it.
  4. ...Yeah I think I'll stick to doing it through RS. :P
  5. C:\Documents and Settings\ What about on Windows 9.x? God knows. :P My only suggestion is to do a search of your entire computer for the file (it should be named "jagex_runescape_preferences.dat"). Not that I know why anyone would particularly want to find it.
  6. C:\Documents and Settings\ EDIT: This is for XP users. Not sure about any other OS.
  7. Anti Aliasing Anyway... I decided I'd try and finish off the last parts of the achievement diary for Karamja, which involved me killing one of the level 360's in the fight caves. I thought I'd screenshot some of the monsters along the way. :P All screenshots are with all settings at the max (except AA, which my graphics card doesn't support) at a 1440x900 resolution. I apologise for the huge file sizes, but there's no way you can compress them a great deal and keep a near perfect image quality. [hide=Level 90][/hide] [hide=Level 180][/hide] [hide=Level 360][/hide]
  8. I've never known anyone get banned for using a safe spot, so I'd assume you can use it without risking getting banned. I'd advise against it though. I think it's safe to say the safe spots aren't intentional, though. :P
  9. Really? Wow. :? Apart from the E3 idea, my only theory is that perhaps it's because HD is in beta stages and Jagex don't want outsiders seeing some of the potential bugs in it.
  10. I've always heard they were a good task :o Yes they were a good task until jagex updated the graphics and now they move around too much :wall: I still don't see how people are having trouble clicking them, I've done a few garg tasks since their update and I breezed through 'em. 8-) Anyway... 79 Summoning! :D
  11. I remember that. I personally don't think the shield was a dragon piece of armour, it really didn't fit in with the rest of the set. I may be proved wrong one day though :P. It seems odd that Jagex have chosen to update the square shield halves now, after all this time. It could be perfectly innocent, but if Jagex are planning to release the dragon kiteshield sometime soonish, it would make sense for them to make this change. Funny you should say that. One of the anagrams at the end of a postbag from the hedge (I think) was solved to be "Legends must rise again"; perhaps Jagex will release a sequel to the Legends quest with the ability to wield the kiteshield as part of the reward? For anyone who's interested, here's a close up picture of what the original shield halves looked like together:
  12. When I was training to do the Legend's Quest, I used numerous other quest rewards to level my herblore. The required herblore level seemed so high back then, mind you I've barely levelled it since :P. But yeah, I have used quests to level a skill or two, it's a nice alternative to the monotonous levelling most skills feature. The XP really isn't worth it for skills that are in the 50's or above, though.
  13. Bloody hell, another MMO? And just to confirm, micro-transactions mean that users will be able to pay for something at a very cheap price?
  14. What are you asking here? :P Garry's Mod (the one with no number and the one you pay for) is the latest version of it.
  15. I quite like Stealth, which is like King Da Ka, but a lot smaller. I'd love to try out King Da Ka, but living in England makes that a bit of a problem... America has so many decent rides, we only get a few. :-/
  16. Interesting... It looks like March 2009 is a month to look forward to. I wonder how much (or little) this new game's going to be hyped; most MMO's tend to build quite a bit of hype as they draw near release, however Jagex seem to adopt the quiet approach about these sorts of things. Things seem to be a little different now Mr. Iddison is in the company though, perhaps we'll get some substantial information about the game before its release.
  17. Trickery? What trickery?! /me looks at his laptops and tower, and realizes they're *all* Linux For whatever reason though, I doubt that there will be any "trickery" to run it in Linux...I'm willing to say that they're using JOGL, and as long as you have the proper JRE for it, you *should* be fine. Don't make me sweat bullets like that again, please. Please. :ohnoes: I'm not sure if you've seen this or not, but Mod Chris E has confirmed in this thread that it'll all run on Linux and Mac's. He does state that getting fullscreen to work on Linux is difficult though; whether or not that means it'll be available I'm unsure of, his answer seemed a bit vague.
  18. Lots of levels it seems; congrats everyone. :P Here's another level for the pile:
  19. [hide=] [/hide] Nice. :) Just got 86 myself:
  20. I'm loving the new tipit_theme skin, even more so than the old subsilver2 one. 8-)
  21. Hmm... I'm liking this new skin. It has a very "tip.it" feel to it. Good work :P.
  22. Seems a little harsh that due to these "re-calculations" some players who have previously recieved mutes are now facing permanent bans, even if they've been a good player since their mute. I hope it's a mistake on Jagex' part. But still, congratulations to those who have had their bans/mutes lifted :). I'm still at 7.5 black marks for a ridiculous case of misjudgement on Jagex' side , ah well, could be worse I guess.
  23. I decided I'd log what I got off rock crabs to see if they really were a viable option for gold charms. I was low on death runes so I managed to only get 10 kills in, but here's what I got: [hide]1. 10 Gold Charms 2. Nothing 3. Nothing 4. Nothing 5. 10 Gold Charms 6. Nothing 7. Nothing 8. Nothing 9. Nothing 10. 10 Gold Charms[/hide] I got other drops, too, of couse; I ommited these from the list though as they weren't relevant. From my little (and it certainly was little) experiment it looks as if you get an average of 3 gold charms per crab. Of course if I wanted a more accurate average I'd have to kill a lot more, probably a few hundred. Bearing in mind the time it takes to kill them and the runes it uses I wouldn't deem crabs a viable option, unless you're after mage XP. Mind you, perhaps I was just unlucky, who knows, but for now I'm going to look for a better dropper :P.
  24. I just heard the same in a mates clan chat, I'll try and find them to see if I can confirm it. EDIT: Yep, my first kill dropped 10. I'll try killing a few more to check how common they are. Bloody slow with melee though, I'd advise mage if you plan heading there.
  25. Interesting, I assumed all monsters that dropped charms dropped the gold ones commonly, with the rest being quite rare. As it happens I've been killing a load of ice giants, they drop loads of gold ones. EDIT: Oh, and ice warriors too.
