  1. You can't look at the difference as (high combat - low combat = difference), you have to look at it as (high combat / low combat * 100 - 100 = percent difference) or a percent difference in combat skill levels, because comparing simply by combat level would mean that a level 128 vs a level 138 is just as fair a match as a level 10 vs a level 20. The level 20 is gonna wipe the floor with the level 10 every time, but the 128 has a good chance of beating the 138. Combat levels were never meant to be more then an approximate representation of strength in order for the wilderness to operate better. 10 vs 20 = 100% difference but the 128 vs 138 is only a 7% difference. At lower levels getting beat by somebody 20 levels lower than you is a larger upset; 102 vs 82 = 24.4% difference, which means the 82 has less of a chance of beating the 102 then the 102 has of beating the 122 (122 vs 102 - 19.6% difference). The 102: 50 att, 99 str, 99 def, 95 hits, 99 magic, 49 prayer, 99 ranged when maxed for 102 (586 levels) The 122: 99 att, 99 str, 99 def, 99 hits, 99 magic, 73 prayer, 99 ranged when maxed for 122 (659 levels) How can you say this would be a close fight between the 102 and 122, the 122 has 49 more attack levels and 24 more prayer levels and a few more hits levels, the only reason the 122 would lose would be due to not being properly prepared; IE wrong gear, wrong spell book, wrong prayers. 82 is an interesting level actually, since 82 is the level where a character with 99 magic, 99 ranged, 40 def, 44 prayer, stops gaining combat levels from magic/range. So in fact at level 82 you have a few possible character builds depending on if the character has 40 or 1 def, or didn't max range/magic yet and instead went for barrows: 70 att, 99 str, 1 def, 88 hits, 99 magic, 47 prayer, 99 ranged (503 levels) or 60 att, 86 str, 40 def, 80 hits, 97 magic, 45 prayer, 97 ranged (505 levels) or 60 att, 73 str, 60 def, 77 hits, 89 magic, 45 prayer, 89 ranged (493 levels) for an average of 500 levels. Final difference comparisons: 122 vs 102: 20 combat levels 19.6% difference in combat levels 73 combat skill levels 12.5% difference in combat skill levels 102 vs 82: 20 combat levels 24.4% difference in combat levels 86 combat skill levels 17.2% difference in combat skill levels This shows quite clearly that the difference in combat levels isn't what matters, its the difference in combat skill levels and percent differences.
  2. With 99 att/str/def/hits and 49 prayer you would be 119 combat, and you could also have 99 magic and ranged without gaining a combat level, it is your fault then that you are not maxed stats for your combat level. Whereas you could also be 50 att, 99 str, 99 def, 95 hits, 99 magic, 49 prayer, 99 ranged at 102 combat. You would be losing to somebody 85.7% of you level, in my opinion that is still a reasonable level to lose against, especially if you don't have maxed stats for your level. OnIIx, you could raise your magic and ranged to 99 and gain only 1 combat from the hits levels and then easily beat a tank. How could you 'easily beat the tank'? You now have the same range\defence stats he does. Because now hes equal in a distanced fight and more powerful up close....not too hard to realize.

  4. Since when is there a difference between a mage/range tank? There is just tanks, since your magic and ranged levels can be even w/o raising combat a single level (just look at the stats in my sig). There is no such thing as being over powered, certain builds beat other build, as it has always been, the triangle is no longer a triangle, but instead an interwoven web of different character builds that can be defeated by other character builds. The only time you could say tanks were truely overpowered was rs1, when a level 25 could have 40 def and 80+ magic.
  5. Updated guide In this case the higher level ranger could be nice and move to a slightly more difficult spot, but is not obligated too. THe lower level could also change worlds or find a different area. However, I haven't really noticed any difference in how often/hard the avians outside the Eyrie hit except for the level 131's.

  7. But you didn't know the icon -.- I would thank him for this but i found out before looking at this thread :ohnoes: EDIT: Notice Sometimes How is that even considered "manipulating" a URL, they uploaded it to the public www directory of their server, have no authentication on the file, the only thing they have is refferer checking and they don't have it blocking a null refferer. Manipulation would be SQL injection or XXS, this is neither. That mod needs a better education on the working of the internet as well as needing to read his company's own rules for the game.
  8. However common sense is an area that the majority of runescapians lack.
  9. Introduction: The purpose of this guide is to suggest some basic rules of etiquette and ways to be polite when killing Aviansies on a crowded world. It is quite frustrating when a player has been killing a specific group of avians for an extended period of time and then someone comes along and begins to (attempt) to steal the kills. Suggested Kill Groups: Credit Tip.It for original image Green lines denote suggested avians to kill, yellow lines denote avian that is acceptable to be killed by whoever it wanders closest to. Why so few in each group you might ask? The answer is multi-part. Unless you are a quite high level ranged or using expensive arrows, by the time you will have killed one avian and picked up your drop the previous avian will have respawned or will about to respawn. So by taking a second or two pause (or none at all) you are saving someone else the frustration of having their kill stolen. On less crowded worlds its okay to shoot nearby aviansies that wander onto your screen and you have not noticed anyone else killing that particular one lately. Do: -Change world if you login and the world is crowded -Change world if the specific spot is taken and the current player in possession does not want to switch -Stop shooting at someone else's aviansie if you accidentally shoot it -Give someone some bones if they need them badly -Shoot an avian that is attacking someone when there are more then one attacking them and are low on life -Trade with someone who wants to check their drops value -Change areas when somebody logs back in from taking a short break and the guy at the spot over will back up the now-returned-player's claim -Flick on Eagle Eye and assert dominance of a spot if someone is trying to take it from you (nothing says MINE better than 3-hitting) -Advise someone about better equipping themselves for killing aviansies -Sell your rune crossbow to someone as you are laving if they accidentally high-alched theirs and don't want to lose their killcount, they will surely pay the most they can Don't: -Shoot any aviansie that spawns at random -Purposely shoot at a taken avian -Claim to have been at a spot before someone when you weren't -Half kill avainsies -Assume that because the aviansie is attacking you while you pray it is yours when you already have a target -Think that because you are a higher range/defense/prayer/combat that gives you more right than a lower level player By following these guidelines you will: -Increase your profit by not having to search for your next aviansie to kill -Not get others frustrated/mad at you -Not have your kills stolen in revenge Note: I will add inside the Eyrie after completing my current 4k KC trip and remembering a grapple.
  10. This is true, but the ancienters are there for fun, not points, anyway SC gives hardly any points for killing, anyway, get over it, it's a game, there is going to be bad and good things.. Lets see, figure about 35 kills a game at about 70 damage per kill(avg hp might be lower but many eat) at 5 points a kill is 12,250 points. Now add in the points from all the arrows / runes I collect from your dead corpses and the number easily goes way higher, add in even more points from making my own runes / arrows and I'm easily getting 30-40k points a game. Its your fault for not being able to defend against a mage, try training your skills higher so you can fight back, we had to spend countless hours high alching to get our barrage so you should be willing to spend an equal amount of time if you want to defend against it.

  12. This should be a fairly simple add-on, but a "value calculator" so that once you look up an item you can enter a amount and it will tell you the value using the min/avg/max prices.
  13. Technically, Java only supports 1D arrays. Higher dimension arrays can be done as arrays of arrays. Thus, there is NO limit to the number of dimensions you can have. For example, the following code makes a 3D integer array with size 5*5*5: int[][][] stuff = new int[5][5][5]; (This can be thought of as an array of 2D arrays, which in turn are arrays of 1D arrays.) Also, I don't know where you got 2D physical memory from, but again, computer memory is really just 1D. Pointers are essentially integers that refer to a certain place in memory. This is where the 4 GB memory on 32 bit systems comes from; 32 bits of data can hold at most 2^32 (4,294,967,296) different possible values. My personal opinion is that JaGEX implemented the map as a single 2D array with stairs and similar things acting as "teleports" to a separate location in the array. Beat me to saying it, all languages that I know of that have support for arrays support n-deep arrays. In fact in c++ the way multi dimension arrays are handled is actually just a overloaded way of accessing a 1-deep array. In c++ if you declare: int size = 2; int ctr = 0; int array[size][size][size]; int i, j, k; for (i = 0; i < size; i++) for (j = 0; j < size; j++) for (k = 0; k < size; k++) { array[i][j][k] = ctr; ctr++; } would result in: however in c++ an array is stored sequentially in memory. Assume the pointer named array points to a memory location of 0x0001 then the following would also be valid ways of accessing the data, albiet as a one dimensional array. So pulli23, next time you decide to go off on somebody be sure you have your facts right. Also, java just like all .NET languages use a JIT compiler and therefore are naturally easier to decompile unlike assembly languages like c++; however, by using obfuscation and encryption within the code it can be made near-impossible to decompile.
  14. It doesn't actually bother me at all, this was more a commentary on the sad state of the average RS player. I started the game when I was 12 and I never went around calling everyone in site a noob for no reason, so I don't see why everyone insists on doing it now. No idea, but it was good crafting and fletching xp.
  15. I've got 30,000 of my 40,000 I made left, so for tasks where a cannon and melee aren't really useful I use them.
  16. Thats from not clearing your internet cache, sometimes it won't load the proper image, so apparently you viewed a questionable site that had a en.gif image that looked like that :-X pwnt
  17. I told somebody that they act like they have the maturity of a 12 year old and got 10 black marks for it and my appeal denied, hence unfairly, but thats not the point of this rant and I deal with it hoping that in a year it will be removed.
  18. A little about my character first: 106 Combat 75 Att 71 Str 89 Def 88 Hits 70 Prayer 95 Ranged 99 Magic 42 Summoning 99 Cooking 91 Fletching (with materials for 99) 70 Firemaking (with materials for 99) Frequently wear my green party hat around because I like the way it looks with my armor. Unfairly permanently muted for telling somebody: ---------- 1) High defense does not make me a noob, it just means you need to train your attack better. 2) Using a cannon on an unpopulated world does not make me a noob just because you decided you decided to come train on the world after I was already there. 3) Using a cannon to train slayer does not make me a noob, it just means I want fast exp. 4) Using a cannon to train range does not make me a noob, it just means that unlike you and your iron arrows I don't want to wait a year. 5) Using red chinchompas to train range does not make me a noob, it just means I have money. 6) Using prayers does not make me a noob, it just means you need to bury some more ones to even the playing field. 7) Killing you when you are collecting spirit shards does not make me a noob, it just means I want to win and play the game like it was meant to be played. 8) Using ice barrage and then stepping away and using my dark bow does not make me a noob, it just means you should have better armor and a ranged weapon. 9) Using protect item does not make me a noob, it just means I value my equipment. 10) Having low strength and attack does not make me a noob, it just means I'm not melee-oriented. 11) Having played for 7 years and not being max combat doesnt make me a noob, it just means I have more focuses in life. 12) Having a party hat does not make me a noob that has no life, it just means I have played a long time. 13) Merchanting does not make me a noob, it just means I have a good head for economics. 14) Freezing you and not letting you get a high score in Fist of Guthix does not make me a noob, it just means I'm playing the game how its meant to be. 15) Eating food does not make me a noob, it just means my inventory isn't empty. 16) I'm not a noob for using silver bolts instead of a better metal, it just means thats how I trained my crafting. 17) Using a cannon with ammo I smithed doesn't make me a noob, it just means I don't mind taking a while to get ammo and gaining smithing exp. 18) Ranging with my dark bow + dragon arrows (p++) while in my infinity robes and casting blood barrage does not make me a noob, it just means you should've been better prepared. 19) Not wanting to duel you in a dds-only match does not make me a noob, it means I don't want my fate left to a RNG. 20) Buying my way to a fast 99 does not make me a noob, it means I spent time earning gp instead of training that skill the inexpensive and slower way. 21) Not having done Heroes Quest, Legends Quest, and even Shield of Arrav doesn't make me a noob, it just means I don't quest much. 22) Having a low fishing level doesn't make me a noob, it just means I buy my food. 23) Not answering your question because I am muted does not make me a noob. 24) Being muted does not make me a noob, it just means I was unfairly hit by the mutehammer. 25) Not selling you some random item does not make me a noob, it just means you need to visit the GE. ---------- I'ld also like to clarify that the fact I'm being called a noob/nerd doesn't bother me at all because I'm not the person whos upset that somebody is playing the game how it was meant to be played. This is more of a commentary on the sad state of the average runescape player now. I started playing this game when I was 12 in august 2001 and back then I saw nothing but respect between players, unless it was a clan rivalry or a deathmatch, and then naturally insults and taunts were bound to be thrown. Now it seems that every single action is worthy of being insulted for, whats next? "You're a noob for logging in!!!!!!1111111111111!!!!!!elevenelevenoneoneononeoneone!111111111111!!1!!!"
  19. I'ld love to know how you can play a game that isn't out for another 60+ days and hasn't been pre'd by any release groups. Also have you tried upgrading to the latest build of java?
  20. I'd already included that as the alternate to two certain ones opening.
  21. Added Hide tags, didn't know they existed. And also the [windows key] isn't a shortcut, as it interrupts the game and takes the keyboard/mouse focus away from the runescape or internet browser window that you have open.
  22. First off, I love the re-worked graphics and the ability to play the game fullscreen. However, why not utilize the fullscreen function more efficiently, and position features in more appropriate places. Note I am using 1920 x 1200 as my resolution, which is standard for many medium to high end laptops and desktops. Sections: 1) Game Menus 2) Chat Box 3) NPC Conversations / Skill Options 4) Bank Interface 5) Fullscreen Toggling 1) Game Menus Now that we have a bar of menus instead of two rows above and below the display, we should be able to view more than one menu at once. This could be implemented in a couple ways: Certain Menu's are automatically opened when an associated menu is opened such as (bold denotes which menu was clicked, in case of both bold/red either menu could be clicked for the result): Inventory + Worn Equipment Combat Styles + Prayer List Combat Styles + Magic Spellbook Combat Styles + Stats Stats + Quest List Friends List + Ignore List Friends List + Clan Chat Options Emotes + Music Player [hide=][/hide] The other option is togling two menus open based on clicks. Clicking Menu A opens menu A on the right and nothing on the left, clicking Menu B would then shift menu A to the left and open Menu B on the right. Clicking either menu again would close it and shift the other open menu to the right. Clicking Menu C would close the menu on the left, shift the one on the right, and open Menu C on the right. 2) Chat Box Two things I would like to see be done with the chatbox: the ability to position it where you want, and for it to not be as translucent, there are WAY too many situations where I simply cannot make out the text from the background 3) NPC Conversations / Skill Options Fullscreen is simply a royal pain for skills such as fletching. Instead of moving my mouse around 150 pixels to select that I wish to make some longbows, I instead have to move it roughly 1600 pixels, which does actually add a great deal of time for repetitive skills. Solution: place it in the bottom middle, looks good and isnt ridiculously far away. [hide=][/hide] 4) Bank Interface Also a rather large nuisance to not be able to easily look at both the bank and your inventory side by side. [hide=][/hide] 5) Fullscreen Toggling The simplest suggestion is to use [Right Alt] + [Enter] to toggle between fullscreen and windowed mode, as used in most other programs that offer these two viewing modes.
