You have a strange definition of a tank. Take for example my stats (see sig) I consider myself to be a tank. There is no reason that a "tank" shouldn't raise attack/strength and no reason they shouldn't keep magic and range the same level, because as long as the game considers your character a mage or ranger; attack, strength, and magic/range (accordingly) don't count towards your combat level. In addition having 70 prayer allows me to use piety for a massive +25% def bonus, something that I think any real tank should invest in, a few extra combat levels for a massive boost to def and a decent boost towards melee abilities. The concepts of a mage-melee or range-melee hybrid are pointless, because a hybrid is supposed to be low defense, and high in two combat forms. If you have a high magic or range you should have both of them equal in level, since it doesn't affect combat level, same goes for high melee stats, there is no reason not to have the maximum magic and range levels possible for your level as a warrior. Same for pures, if you have 99 strength or attack, there is no reason not to have both magic and range as high as possible.

Thats what I do. Less lag, but more importantly everything is closer together, so I don't have to go moving my mouse all the way across the screen all the time. "Mouse distance" is completely irrelevant, its really easy to turn up the sensitivity of any mouse or touchpad to compensate for the new game size.

Not that I can remember, I think they were added into the quest plots on rs2.

Why change something that has been in place at the core of the game for 8 years?

The Vertigus! New Level 88 Slayer Monster; New Weapons!
Riptide Mage replied to Slayer_Jesse's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I very rarely post in the suggestions forum, and even more rarely is it a positive post, but I actually like this idea. Could put the monster in the area around the Fishing platform, something like paddling out in one of the boats and a fight similar to that of the 3-tentacle/head monster from temple trekking, or on the other hand could put it in one of the underwater areas of the game. Only criticism is that the name vertigus sounds like vertigo, and the creature looks more like a sea monster than a flying monster. -

There is this thing called "Recent News", people should bother to read it more often.

Is $1.33 cents a month more really going to hurt your wallet so badly?

10th July 2009 - The Jagex Anti-Hijack System and DevBlog
Riptide Mage replied to Mil's topic in General Discussion
If its an RSA SecurID token it would be nice if Jagex would allow users that already have one for other reasons to use their existing one instead of having two to keep track of. http://www.rsa.com/node.aspx?id=1156 The devices use an algorithm with a unique seed for each device to generate the next number. It may be possible to attempt to predict the next value using a program such as Cain, but it would require knowing a large number of sequentially generated values. Even if the algorithm is fully known it will be nearly impossible to know what account is using what seed or what itteration the device is currently on. Most large companies use similar devices to control remote access to their LAN networks via a VPN, if there was a risk of the system being broken Runescape would be the last of the crackers thoughts. -
There are many other times in the game (Runescape, not MA) that your inventory is emptied or blanked for cutscenes. From what I've read its seems like this is a matter of code not being ran to restore the inventory after the tutorial has ended due to the tutorial being prematurely aborted. A simple, logical way of doing cutscenes would be calling a single method with a parameter of the cutscene data that performs all the pre/post- cutscene operations and then returns the results of any choices made during the cutscene. public int[] doCutscene(Cutscene current) { initScene(); displayScene(current); deinitScene(); return current.getResults(); } This would ensure that things such as clearing the inventory always happened before and after a cutscene. While I'm sure its much more complicated in the game, reusable code like this would prevent something like this from ever happening.

It shouldn't matter what a player chooses to carry around. There is absolutely no reason glitches like this should make it into the game, let alone the outright rude response by the mod. Who says it only happens on logging out? Might lose items if you lag out, which increasingly frequently has been caused by servers lagging. Its way more than an oops, we pay them to develop the game, so we shouldn't be paying for a half-assed and not well tested product.

PvP Artifacts and It's Effect on Runescape Economy

Which I suppose is the reason why the quote in my original post is the only spot on the entire site he is mentioned? GTFO with this uncited "jagex said so" crap. I didn't necessarily mean return to his original job, but return to the game at all.
-
Been several years and as far as I know he hasn't returned. He used to be one of the most useful NPC's in the game only to be discarded in RS2. Thoughts on if, when, or how he may return?

There is no way to tell the physical location of an IP address except for the a rough estimate as the location of the node. Using any sort of IP lookup website or tool reports that my IP is over 50 miles away from where I physically am.

Pretty sure zezima wasn't around then, and if he was wasn't a rune smither.

Why not just go to the duel arena?

Probably a list of IP-addresses of people who don't want to see the splash screen, which will be stored in another database. Useless waste of space, why would they even bother making it easier for people who don't use cookies, it really is their problem. :? Exactly. OP, that is a despicable action of you. Cookies make the web work. Browsers really shouldn't let people disable them. Or JavaScript. sarcasm right? Of course not. People shouldn't be globally disabling cookies or JavaScript, EVER. These actions should ONLY be taken for problematic websites... in which case, why visit the problematic website in the first place? I have had cookies and JavaScript enabled for years and nothing's ever happened to my computer. Turning them off to "increase security" is nonsense. What increases your security is being smart in your browsing habits. I agree with this sentiment largely. I do have cookies globally disabled, but I have a firefox add on to quickly and easily allow cookies for a specific domain permanently or for a session. Any site I use semi-regularly I allow in, any site that I stray too tht needs cookies I let in for the session. I have this setup because I have a habit of drifting a bit on the web and end up with a ton of basic tracking cookies, whihc makes my virus scans take yonks. And because it works well for me. I tweaked a lot of bits n bobs on my pc to make it perform better, but 1 side effect (that i culdnt track down) was insane amounts of fragmentation happening on cookies that were over a week or 2 old (eg sites i hardly visit) that was causing lag. 1) How in the hell do you "agree with this sentiment largely" when you're saying the exact opposite of what I am? 2) As for the last paragraph of your post... thinking back on the DDOS thread, I'm just not going to say anything and will bang my head against the wall instead, to save Tip.It's disk space and its administration headaches. Clarifying some things for the real world: -4 kb cookie files aren't going to become fragmented since the odds of not having 4kb of contiguous space is almost 0% -tracking cookies are not viruses, they just allow for more targeted ads -adblock plus or peerguardian will block the tracking cookies from ever being downlaoded w/o the need to break the rest of the internet -its better to have cookies automatically cleared when the browser is closed than to not allow cookies

"N00b skillcapes" : they're also skillcapes!
Riptide Mage replied to Demoli's topic in General Discussion
I got mine in about half that time. Fletching does not take 90 hours or even around that time if you don't waste time. Stringing yew longbows is about 150k xp/hr, no? So about 90 hours to 99. If you're using a faster method, you need to add the time it takes to earn the money to pay for the extra speed. Consider that a typical 'scaper probably has an income of about 200k gp/hr, give or take. No you don't, because that money was earned while training another skill. I reached 99 fletching when less than 13,000 people had it, alched all the magic long bows I made, and made a pretty good profit. Its quite easy to get 400k gp/hr at green dragons with average gear, super pots, and a BoB. All you need is enough money to buy a few hundred logs and string at a time, fletch them, sell them, repeat.
