Things like this make me glad I'm a science major. Rats are very genetically similar to humans. They also reproduce very quickly. This is why scientists use mice in lab tests, if anyone was wondering. :) Scientists always release their findings after they find something unusual. Optical mice don't like shiny surfaces. Try getting a dull, grey mousepad (or something like it) and try again. If it still does the same thing, it's probably your mouse.

I believe the free download of Fraps only lets you make 30 second videos. The pay version doesn't have that limitation.

Well it seems like your computer is missing all the drivers for the touchpad and all the things that don't seem to work. I had this problem when I fixed up my friend's laptop. Ran into the exact same problem.. Dell has all their drivers online. If you go to their drivers page, you should be able to find ALL the drivers you need. Download them and install them onto your laptop. If your laptop has no internet, then download files onto another computer and transfer them via flash drive.

Download a program like Audacity. Now the question is whether or not you can do it. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Just mess with the settings and see what your computer can do. You may not be able to record at the greatest quality, but pick settings that'll give you the best quality possible.

I've NEVER heard a vegetarian say that chickens are okay to eat because they're birds (reptiles, btw). I'd assume that chickens and cows were like.. THE thing to stay away from if you were a vegetarian. :?

Well ideal settings would be all set at high. Just set it to whatever your computer can handle. If it doesn't give you anything reasonable, lower the settings.

If you have Internet Explorer 7, it's under Tools-> Delete Browsing History. Delete the temp. internet files.

Is your laptop overheating? Mine shutdown once because I was playing Final Fantasy Tactics off an emulator on my laptop (off the PS Disc).

I have xilisoft audio converter on my computer. It's a big buggy but it will convert wmas into mp3s. Crashes at random times though and I'm not really sure why :x But I did convert about 100 wmas into mp3s last year with it.
