Best Graphics card to get on a budget?
If this does get out Microsoft will indeed have huge lawsuits. The only thing that is making a lot of Vista sales is dx10 support. Do you really think that they will let their cash cow disappear? How do you know it will not be buggy? Microsoft has claimed XP is not designed to run dx10 (which might be true). Vista was designed from the ground up (only keeping the kernel and a few other things) and changed many things in how they operate in the operating system.

Best Graphics card to get on a budget?
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39095 You realy think thats going to work? I read from a more reliable source because theinquirer is never reliable that he can't some of the files working correctly. Even if it does get to be fully functional, it's probaly going to be slow, buggy, and bounce out errors while trying to play a dx10 game. It might even be ilegal to distribute decrypted dx10 files to install it anyway. EDIT: If you can only afford a 8600gt, then get it. You will not be disappointed, but try to get the 8600gts if you can.

Best Graphics card to get on a budget?
DX10 will never be compatible with another operating system (unless of course the successor of Vista comes out). Windows XP can not run dx10 because of software limitations, Microsoft has no plans in the near future to support it. You said you have a pci slot. Are you sure you don't mean a pci-e slot (also called pci express). There is a huge difference between the two. If you do have only a pci slot, you have a major problem because there are no new graphics cards for that interface. If infact you do have pci-e the 8600gt is a great card but I highly suggest the 8600gts because it's a lot more powerful for not too much more. $245 here I don't know where your finding the 8600gt for 244, it's $200 from tigerdirect. here Even if you don't get Vista for the dx10 capabilities, the geforce 8 series cards are very good in dx9 too :) .

Best Graphics card to get on a budget?
If you read the thread before posting you would notice he budget doesn't even come close to buying one of them. If you were indeed joking then stop it, it's just useless spam that helps nobody and your probably only trying to get your post count up.

Death to internet radio: a possibility?
Guys this is totaly different. Limewire, Bearshare ect. are all P2P (peer to peer) file sharing sites, not internet radio. Those file sharing sites are already illegal, and that why nobody uses them, right? Internet radio is something totally different, it's like the radio you listen to in your car or whatever but online, and much better quality and choices. The RIAA are going to raise the royalties fees and basically force them to shutdown because they can't afford it. The radio itself will not be illegal, but the RIAA doesn't like it and there is no legal way to shut them down so they do this instead.

A (Semi-)Legal Question for Y'all
I got a detention for having a myspace (with a lot of other people). They demanded it be taken down immediately or suspension. When I mean a lot of people, like 50. It wasn't for me mentioning the school, drugs, drinking, bullying ect. (which I didn't do) it was just for having one. I go to a public school now so my Myspace is not a problem anymore =D> . (this was in a private school in 8th grade)

Best Graphics card to get on a budget?
The 7950 card is about $200 (USD), but thats not the point I was trying to make. Yes the dx10 capabilities are good for future games, but dx10 only works on Vista. If he doesn't plan on upgrading to Vista anytime soon, he can get a cheaper and faster dx9 card. For instance (prices in USD) the x1950 pro is $135 and the 8600gts is $175 and they both trade blows in performance. Don't get me wrong, the geforce 8 series are very powerful cards, but the mid range (8600 series) are overpriced for the performance you get. We don't even know if he has an AGP or pci-e graphics slot yet so this all might be a waist after he posts anyway :P .

Best Graphics card to get on a budget?
First of all he lives in Canada, Newegg does not ship to Canada. The x850 pro is not future proof at all. It does not have sm3.0 even and will not run any new games coming out that require it. It's also open box, which means you have no idea what your getting, you could be getting just the graphics card in non working order for all you know. I have that same exact card and they do not run that hot. Mine gets to 70-75c under full load (COD2 of maximum). If your using a fan override (i'm guessing ATI tool or tray tools) to quiet it down you need to disable that and cool it down. The maximum temp they are suppose to get to without damage is 100c, and 110c without melting.

keyboard help
You need to give more information than that. Does the keyboard work on another computer? Have you tried a different keyboard on your computer? It may just be getting too old and you might just need to replace it, but try the above first.

Best Graphics card to get on a budget?
The 8600gt is not faster than the 7900 series. They both trade blows in the benchmarks, but the 7950gt wins most (if not all) benchmarks against it. Other than that, your post hit dead on with the facts. It is sometimes better to get the last generation card than the current generation because you can usually get a better preforming card for less money. Tell us if you have an AGP or PCI-E graphics slot, or I might suggest graphics cards for the wrong slot. EDIT: If you plan on running Vista anytime within the next 1-2years please let me know, because you might be better off with a new dx10 card than dx9.

Vista? Yes or No? And help
Wait, so your saying other people use a computer like a 5 year old but you don't know NOT to disable explorer. Explorer.exe is a main system file of windows. Vista isn't a ram hog? Are you crazy? Xp uses about 400-500MBs of ram at idle, Vista uses 900MBs at idle. Almost double of what XP uses. I have XP and Vista dual booted and almost the same processes starting up. Infact I might have more run at start up on XP than Vista.

Vista? Yes or No? And help
It's not the firewall that doing that to you Zonda. It's a new "feature" Microsoft added called UAC, or user account control. It's a lot worse than a firewall, don't get them confused  . The first thing I did when I installed Vista was disable UAC. =D>

Windows XP to be discontinued in early 2008
Off topic: Its been done  Doom3? Did it have playable framerates? Like over 25-30fps. I stand corrected :)

Windows XP to be discontinued in early 2008
Most people that say Vista sucks have not even used it for more than a day. It's really not that bad. The drivers are starting to mature and it's starting to become on par with the speed of XP. Most of the hype applied to Vista sucking is people are just getting on the bandwagon and think it's "cool" to hate Vista. Granted, it's not perfect, but nothing is when it comes out. The major changes they put into this version will be worth it by next year. I find Vista more stable than XP. Although I have tried the built in decompresser Cruiser was talking about and his results were close to mine, although 3rd party applications are no slower on Vista than XP. Most of the problems people are having are with bad drivers which is not Vista's fault, it's the company that makes the product. These companies knew about Vista a long time before it came out to the public, they should have started on drivers then. Another thing people are complaining is "it will not run on my 5 year old machine". Well really, if you don't have something newer than that, don't expect it to run, thats like asking my P3 to run Doom3, it's not going to happen. In 2 years when Vista becomes more mainstream those system requirements will be minimal. My rant is over for tonight. =D>

Official HackySack/ Footbag Thread
I use to do this last year before school a lot. I use to be good, well I considered myself good. I could maybe do it 25 times using my chest, both legs, and almost every part of my shoe. I mainly did it in the circle group where everybody would pass it around. There would always be that one person who would mess it up to :x . I haven't tried it in over a year now so I'm probably really bad. I didn't even know there were special ways to lace your shoes up for better control either.

If you mean delete stuff on the hard drive, it would not help much if at all. If you don't have a lot of ram you could close some programs and have just the Runescape (or whatever your recording) windows and hypercam open. My suggestions about changing the settings would be the best and easiest way for it not to lag.

Not everybody can just go out and buy a new computer when something is wrong. Try to suggest some good advice next time. To make it less laggy you can lower the frame rate of the video (set it for 20fps) and lower the video quality.

Vista? Yes or No? And help
I highly doubt you have dual quad cores and 4 gigs of ram. Those specs are for a server, not a home pc. Please give us your real specs. I also believe those benchmarks are not 100% accurate. The Nvidia drivers that these benchmarks used were not the newest for Vista (from looking at hardocp the website who actually benched this), which the new ones are considered the first "real" Vista drivers. They didn't benchmark ATI cards with XP and Vista. ATI drivers are a little more developed for Vista at the moment. Granted Vista does have it's flaws but if you can upgrade for very little money or for free, I would do it. Your going to have to upgrade to it eventually and if you can for free, might as well before the offer expires. For the formating the hard drive you may have to erase everything but there is an option to upgrade and keep your files, but I don't know how good that works. Still make sure you have everything backed up in case something does go wrong. Lol right because you know what type of computer i have? QX6700 quad-core processor 4GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667 mhZ 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX Yes dell shipped me the vista cd for free it came with the computer. That is different than what you said before. You said you had dual quad processors, you have 1 quad core, not 2. Your computer specs are actually believable for a home pc. To answer your question, you should not notice any slow down with that pc. As long as you have up to date drivers you should be good. The Nvidia 8 series is meant for dx10 anyway, which only runs on Vista. That is his ram speed, not the processor. Don't bother with the upgrade adviser either, I guarantee that will run vista.

Coupons and Savings
My mom is obsessed with saving money. Every Sunday she looks at all the sale papers and coupons looking to save money, even if it's only $.10. She will never buy anything that is not on sale. It can get rediculus at times when she absolutely needs something and she will not buy it if no brands are on sale. Me personally, I never use coupons. I rather buy the item when I want it instaid of waiting a month for it to go on sale. The only coupons I use are the $5 Bestbuy coupons when using their rewards card.

what operating system do you use!!
Mac do get viruses. They get less viruses because there is a small user base verse pcs and hackers target the operating system that they can do the most damage on a large scale. Macs are not proven safer than Windows, it's just not many people use them.

Overclocking
There are plenty more socket 754 coolers on Newegg. Look at the bottom of the sort tab and it will say socket 754,939, 775 ect. that all one cooler can support. Although you seem to know very little on overclocking and semprons are not designed to be overclocked much (well the 754's aren't). I would suggest if you realy want a faster processor is to buy a new one instaid of buying better cooling. You can probaly get a 3200+ for socket 754 for like $45. Although it would be 2.2ghz so you would not see any huge performance gains.
