You can not build a laptop from scratch. Megahertz are not everything for the processor but 1,000 (or 1ghz) is still prety slow.

What are you system specs? What program are you using to record video? What are the settings of the program? Camtasia does not lag "regardless" you just need a realy good processor to run it without lag. If you don't have a fast computer, use something else.

wmiprvse.e3e (CAUTION - executable file) should not be terminated! Do not delete it. I have, since it's a prebuilt it comes with a lot of "extras" or crap most people call it. He has Nortan installed which takes up about 5 processes by itself. I currently have 50 processes going when I start it up so 40 is not a lot. Go into add/remove programs and uninstall anything you don't need (trial software ect.). Don'y worry if you need it later you can always get it back on the recovery cd.

You can reset the ipod by pressing middle and menu for a while I'm pretty sure. (or is it middle and play/pause?). You were right the first time :) (middle and menu button)

You may be able to if it supports Java for web browsing, and it meets the system requirements (yes thats for cellphones too). I doubt a cellphone will have like a 250mhz proccesor for Runescape in it. edit: read your other post on the same subject, I think think they got the answer better than me.

There is no Doom4 out. If you mean Doom3 that game doesn't have that high of requirements.

It's already overclocked :D . Yes it is stable (24hrs of prime95). I don't have water cooling either. It's not wise to suggest overclocking here because a lot of people don't know what thier doing and can seriously mess their computer up. After scanning in safe mode (again) it did find a virus. Took care of it. Booted back up in normal mode, and getting system file errors. Anywase the summary of what I did to fix this today. *I did a fresh Windows install (not a format just the windows files) *updated my sound card drivers *then defraged (which wouldn't have caused it because I run it weekly anyway) I think it might have been more the sound card drivers more than the virus. I find Creative's drivers very buggy, The beta ones are much better.

Even if it does have a wireless card doesn't mean he's going to get internet on the bus. I'm not sure about this but a satilite laptop can get internet anywhere.

So you want a laptop for only a 2 hour bus trip? Sounds like a waste of money to me. If you want something to do on the bus, get an Ipod. It's a lot cheaper than a descent laptop. Anywase if you still want a laptop, whats your buget?

I would go with the 930D for the proccesor, mainly because it' just newer and it runs on 65nm than 90nm for the 820, which means it will demand less power and run cooler (and quieter). The memory go with the 1gb in dual channel but go for 667mhz. If you do deside to go with 2gb, get x2 1gb sticks instaid of 4x512s. For graphics I suggest these: (slowest to fastest) x1600XT x850XT 7600GT x1800gto

450mhz would not be able to run high detail. Memory would not help the proccesor speed of the computer but it would help the overal computer speed of the laptop. To upgrade if you mean the proccesor, then yes you could but it's a lot of work to do in a laptop. It might not even be do-able in that computer because you might not find a compatible processor. My suggestion? Don't buy it, if you already want to upgrade the memory, and the proccesor your not happy with the speed even before buying it. Buy something that doesn't need to be upgraded right away.

It will run it. The onboard graphics is not as good as other computers suggested (in your many threads). That has onboard geforce 4 others had geforce 6100 or 6150. Theres a computer going on sale at Bestbuy this Sunday that is way better than everyone suggested for $400. It has: Athlon 64 3500+ (2.2ghz) 512mb ram 200gb hard drive geforce 6100 graphics For $400. I cant seem to find it on Bestbuy.com but it's in thier sale paper. I get them early since I deliver them.

Quad SLI means you have 4 video cards running at once working together to do the graphics work. Same with SLI but only with 2 cards. CAS2/3 means the speed on the memory, the lower the better.

You could play runescape without the upgrades. The ram I would upgrade anywase. That will benifit the whole computer speed, and make high detail better :) .

No SATA3 yet :wink: . It's coming out next year. The video card you suggested is great, but people have bugets and that thing is expensive. If you can aford the price tag I reccomend this card. If not I would get the 1600XT or 7600GT if you have PCI-E slot. Check and see if you have a AGP or PCI-E slot for graphics.

How can you all run on high? Do you have any AA or AF on? What resolution do you guys play at? I can play on high at 800x600( I think), but I refuse to play on anything lower than 1024x768 (yes I know thats stupid). I sware there is a major problem with my computer.

There is major difference between the cards. The x1900XTX is one of the fastest cards out. The x1600 is mid-range preformance, and sadly your x1300 is buget preformance. I hate to burst your bubble but there is no way you can play oblivion on high settings with the x1300. Infact most cards struggle with medium quality in that game.

That can play all games on low detail atleast. If you want to upgrade this get another 512mb stick of ram and upgrade the graphics card. He could play it now with no upgrades. Even if he upgraded to a gig of ram and a 6600GT he could not play on Ultra quality. I can't even play on ultra with my x850XT.

He doesn't need to start from scratch. That processor is still pretty descent. My suggestion is to upgrade the graphics card. I suggest a x1600pro, 7600GS(AGP), or a x850XT. You can also upgrade to a bigger hard drive. I'm guessing that hard drive is 5400RPM? If it is a 7200RPM would be alot faster. You can also upgrade to 1gb of ram but since you already have 768mb it might not make too much of a difference.

Just used those programs, there very good :) . It is still running a little slower than normal. I was thinking it might be a problem with one of the Yahoo Wigets. Could there maybe be a memory leak or something in one that eating up all my memory making my computer slower?
