  1. If hes only going to be playing WOW he doesn't need a machine that can pump out more fps then you can even see. All he needs it to run smooth with no lag. Most people have a buget and can't aford the best. If you were to upgrade the processor, AMD just cut prices on most of their single core processors.
  2. You would be able to run it, but maybe not smoothly even with the upgrades since your processor is slow. Although if your upgrade to the x1600pro and throw in a stick of 512mb ram(768 total with 2 slots, 896 with more than 2 slots) you would have a better system than Anesthesia used, except for the processor. Correct me if I'm wrong but most games are graphics card dependant so you may be able to run it smoothly. I would get a secound opinion though.

Operating system manufactorers wish. Processor support is built into the operating system. You can usually get drivers for the chipset, which updates most of the intigrated devices. For example, I have an NForce 570 motherboard. I go to nvidia.com and get NForce 570 drivers which give me drivers for my Ethernet, Audio, SATA Controller, among others. You have the new socket AM2? You are so lucky.
  4. While your in the case look how many ram slots you have. If you only have 2 you would have to take out the 128mb stick for something bigger. EDIT: I edited my first post with different graphics cards. The first ones i posted were the wrong interface. :wall: I also added SDRAM memory counterparts if your system does take that.

Your timings are considered pretty good. The best timings for DDR are 2-2-2-5. I hear some people are overclocking and getting 1.5-2-2-5 or lower, but most motherboards dont allow lower than that. Slots dont matter, unless your running dual channel. Then you would need to put a matched pair of sticks in the same colored slots.
  6. You are just shy of meeting the processor requirements you would need to overclock to 800mhz or upgrade it. Overclocking can be dangerous, do with caution. If you were to upgrade the processor you would also need a new motherboard. That would put you well over your buget. A graphics card and ram would put you over buget with my choices. Graphics card: Radeon x1600 pro - $116 Geforce 6600 - $86 Memory (DDR): 512mb of ram - $39 256mb of ram - $20 Memory SDRAM: 512mb SDRAM - $53 256mb SDRAM- $25 I would highly suggest installing this yourself because if you brought it to bestbuy they would charge you more than you payed for the parts. EDIT: The card Ard Choille suggested is also very good. EDIT2: I forgot something very important, the power supply. Modern graphics card need alot of power your power supply might not be strong enough. To check this you would need to open up your case and check the sticker on it (top left corner of the case).
  7. Go with the X2 3800 to save some money. With the DFI board I'm guessing your going to overclock? With the extra money upgrade the graphics card to the 7900GT, 1800XT, 1900GT, 1900XT or something of your choice. If your willing to go with something other than Corsair ram you can get some OCZ with better timmings for cheaper. here I have one question why arn't you going for the new socket AM2? You will have a better upgrade path later on.

  9. Thje Wii of course :) . Nintendo looks like it will come out on top this console gen. I will get a PS3 after the Wii if the price goes down to $400 or less. It seems Sony is going to lose some bissness with the steep price they have.
  10. Don't go with a 7800GT they are out dated. Go with a 7900GT.
  11. If you mean the multiplier, then there all locked :( (except for the FX series). Everybody overclocks by the FSB now. Or maybe he thinks that he can get away with O/Cing with an OEM board from HP, Dell, etc. which really isn't the case. I overclocked my old Emachines Athlon XP 3200+ computer. I got it from 2.2ghz to 2.4ghz. Of course I flashed to 3rd party bios .
  12. If you mean the multiplier, then there all locked :( (except for the FX series). Everybody overclocks by the FSB now.
  13. I don't think there is a Radeon x1700 graphics card :? .
  14. AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (clocked at 2.5) Gigabyte GA-K8NSC 1gb of ram Maxtor 250gb SATAI hard drive Radeon x850 Pro AGP (flashed to XT with 16 pipes) Xion II case Logitech mx510 mouse crappy Emachines keyboard I'm happy with this computer. Although I would love to upgrade to 2gb of ram and maybe get a soundcard instaid of using onboard.
  15. They should be a resonable price when they come out. Although the DDR2 memory may be a bit more in price, but it's faster than DDR.
  16. It's not suppose to be to much more than current motherboards and processors. Although the prices for the new processors that arn't on socket 939 already are undisided (or atleast i don't know them). Even if it will not give to much more preformance you will get a better upgrade path in the future.
  17. Well i would wait about a month (maybe less) for the new AMD socket AM2. This will support DDR2 memory and faster processors comming out (X2 5000+ and FX62).
  18. So how do you guys think about the PS3's price? It's going to be $500 with a 20gb hard drive and $600 with a 60gb hard drive. I think this is way too much for a game console. $100 for only 40gbs more of space is totaly a rip off. All the features this thing has is amazing. I realy like the PSP compatibilty. To bad the rumor of the PS3 having a Location Free player are false. The graphics and some of these games look to good to be true. The game by Naughty Dog was breath taking. Unfortanatly, I don't have a HDTV to be able to use a console like this, yet.
  19. i dunno..am i blind or do i NOT see a cd/dvd rom drive? He's probily going to use one from his current computer.
  20. If your going to be doing some heavy gaming that 6600GT will not cut it. If it's in your buget go with a 6800 series card or even the 7600GT.
  21. You would need a PSP that can play homebrew (any version 1.0-2.6). Since only 1.0 and 1.5 PSPs have full acess to kernal mode for full memory acess it will probily not work on later versions. Trying to find a 1.5 PSP now is almost imposible unless buying one used. I just noticed also the PSP does not meet system requirements for Runescape. You need 64mb of ram (psp has 32mb), need 300mhz processor (psp is using 222mhz, can be unlocked via homebrew app for full 333mhz).
  22. How can you if the PSP does NOT support Java? Runescape is written in Java. If your thinking of Javascript, yes then the psp does support it, but thats not for Runescape.
  23. Well Bodomshadow asked where you download IE7 so I told him.
  24. Your friend it lying to you. You can not play Runescape on the PSP. The PSP does not support java. There is no offical plan by Sony in the future to add java support either.
