  1. No it will not work. Recovery disks check to make sure it's the same computer the disk came with. You can however find a guide to extract just the windows XP from the disk and burn it to a CD to use. I don't think you can discuss that here because it's against the rules.
  2. My pick was quad SLI. The 7950GX2 card is 2 7900GTs, so 2 of the 7950GX2s is quad SLI  .
  3. Yes, defently go with Core Duo if your getting a notebook. You can even check out the new Turion X2 made by AMD that just came out. I haven't seen any benchmarks yet so I don't know how good it is compared to the Core Duo. Dual core would be best on for Auto Cad. One question, why do you you want to run Auto Cad on a laptop? Wouldn't a Desktop computer suit your needs better?
  4. Most people would say the most expensive of everything on http://www.newegg.com or something :D . Here's mine anywase. Core 2 Duo X6800 Extreme Edition 4gb of Corsair Cas3 memory 2x 7950GX2 (in quad SLI) 4x 15k RPM 147gb hard drives in RAID0 Windows Vista Ultimate Edition Creative X-fi Elite edition The biggest LCD I can aford with the rest of the money.
  5. Well now my computer is crashing :( . My mcafee firewall said it blocked 2506 events today  ! Is that normal? Could that mean someone is derliberatly trying to get access to my computer? It says only 5027 events blocked this month and 2506 from today? It says blocked 2514 events this week, only 8 more than today's total :? .

When you hear the beeping check the motherboard manuel and it will tell you what it means. You make sure that the 12v (the square four pin) plug is also plugged into the motherboard?
  7. Well my computer had been running slowing for a few days now. I thought it might be a virus sinced I haven't scanned in about 2 months, it found nothing. I scanned with Ad-aware, Spybot, and Mcafee virus scan. I have a Yahoo wiget that shows the current internet traffic and it's constantly going at 3kb/s or more while not doing anything on the internet. I thought it could be a virus that it "calling home", but the scans didn't find anything. I recently installed a soundcard (creative X-fi) and maybe it could be all the bloatware it comes with causing the slowness? I have a heatwave here too :( . It's 92F (33C) degrees here already. It's only 11:18 in the morning too. It's suppose to be up to 100 degrees today.
  9. My Ex-friend was a complete idiot. He's 15 (my age) and acts like he's 7. He does the most babyish things you could ever image. He went to the beach with people I invited and all he did the whole day was throw sand while I was trying to talk to some girls. He thinks girls are "icky" and thinks liking/ dating one is the worst thing possible. Remember he's 15, usaly you do this when your 7. He likes to get people mad and thinks its funny. Even doing the simplist things like plugging in a light he makes it a big deal. His parents think this is all normal too  . I have seen people that they say there 12 and 13 on this forum and can talk a lot more maturely than this guy.
  10. Well it could be overheating if it only does this while the computer is stressed playing games. Download speedfan at http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php It shows the temps of the computer. Leave it running while playing a game to see full load temps. Exit after playing for 20mins or so and get the max temps the computer reached and post them here. Hold your mouse over each temp and it will say the max temp it reached so you don't have to worry about missing the full load temp.
  11. Here's some benchmarks that are not by Intel supplied boxes. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.h ... VzaWFzdA== http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.h ... VzaWFzdA== In the gaming benchmarks the FX62 stands up to Core 2 duo but in the media programs it comes up far behind Core 2 duo.
  12. A) extra smooth FTW \
  13. You sure that dell box isn't a dual proccesor system? For that price it should be.
  14. It does? I never heard of that before. Come to think of it I have had some problems with images loading but never realy looked into it. Guess that solves my problem, thanks :) .
  15. Fasterfox: Speeds up the firefox browser. here Forecastfox: Tells you what the weather is outside. here Videodownloader: Downloads videos from popular websites. here PDF download: Veiw pdf files in your browser window, instaid of downloading them. here I agree with Artie 900, flashblock does rule.
  16. Sorry double post :wall: . I am getting lag on these forums today for some reason.
  17. Zonealarm I used for a long time before I got Mcafee. Awsome firewall for free. Sygate I believe was bought by symantec (the people who make Norton) and it's not free anymore.
  18. If you want to game go for a desktop. Since you have a very big buget you could put $1000 to a desktop gaming computer and then $1000-1500 for a laptop that just does the basics for school.

I have never seen this before. This is wicked funny     . I loved the part when the camera man leaves after he lags. Then looks into the garage and sees him smashing stuff \
  20. I realy gotta start editing my post faster :) . If you do have an extra monitor to use then I suggest my first suggestion with the graphics card
  21. **** I forgot to see if that came with a monitor. I checked I don't see one :( . You could buy a graphics card in store but it would be more expensive than that online website. I don't suggest gaming with that computer I suggested unless you buy a graphics card. EDIT: Here's something I found that comes with a monitor and good onboard graphics. You could play games on this without buying a graphics card. Although if you diside in the future to upgrade to a graphics card, you can. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8100050002
  22. As much as I hate the celeron I do suggest this computer. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 9040473547 Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814102650 With that it's under your $450 buget and you can play all games atleast at low quality. Maybe higher quality for CounterStrike. EDIT: Yes you probily could build a system for under $400 that's alot better than these pre builts.
  23. Who said the performance rating was out of 10? I am not 100% sure about BETA 2 CTP but on my builds of Vista [5365 and 5456 both interim] the best you can get was 5. 1 is the worst and 5 is the best. . It gave speprate scores for each part then a total score. My graphics card score was like a 5.9 so it has to be over 5. Oh that may be it with me, the partion. I gave it 50gb. I was hoping to test the file system out too and maybe see what the advantages are.. Does anyone know the benifits of the new file system? Overall for a beta I didn't have problems with it. I find it much harder to use than XP. Although that could just be me :? I guess you need a dedicated graphics card to use vista. So that means no more intergrated graphics. Does that mean prices will go up on pre-built computers?
  24. I'm mad now. My computer is a very good gaming computer granted it's only single core and a x850 graphics card but it's still considered very fast. The vista preformance rating only rated it a 4! not out of 5 but out of 10! I would be thinking this system would have gotten a 7 for todays standards. Taken right off of the Microsoft website. A Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least: * A modern processor (at least 800MHz1). * 512 MB of system memory. * A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable. A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least: * 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1. * 1 GB of system memory. * A graphics processor that runs Windows Aero2. * 128 MB of graphics memory. * 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space. * DVD-ROM Drive3. * Audio output capability. * Internet access capability.
