Bring 1-2 pieces of food for emergencies. Bring runes to highalch drops with. No point in bringing torags armour, *if* you are to bring other armour, bring dragon or rune armour that has no repair cost (personally I take dragon skirt + berserker helmet, but keep guthan plate on the whole time). Compare the defence of guthan and torags armour at the kb. Bring whip + rune defender or obby shield to fight with when you dont need to heal, the spear is a little slow. Super sets yes, with guthan you can stay as long as you want, so you eventually want to bring 2 4-dose bottle of each.
  2. Regarding Ahrim's stuff, you need 70 def AND magic

If you want variation, get some slayer tasks from lost city or shilo. Guthan set is perfect for many of those tasks - and in addition to combat exp you will also get slayer exp :)
  4. First, make sure you read this: http://tip.it/runescape/?page=new_members_P2P_guide.htm Then, this is what I usually advice new members to do:
  5. Islwyn isnt the one you recharge from, that is another elf... Erm, hold on, will check details since I havent done it for ages, but I *think* its close to where you start roaving elves. Edit, you recharge at the elf Ilfeen, location on this map: http://tip.it/runescape/index.php?page= ... randar.htm
  6. Whatever you do, dont start adding rooms without first making a plan for the whole house - that can be VERY costly if you find out you want to have rooms at other places. Take a look at this topic: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=468279 Lots of people have posted their house layouts there, so it would give you an idea of what works well, and different ways of house plans that work. After looking at that, do what expall suggested and start to draw your own layout :)
  7. No abyssal area is in the wilderness, even if you have to run through low level wilderness to enter if you cant use the fairy rings. That means you can not get pk-ed once you have entered, only on the way there. It's still possible to die to the monsters in the abyss of course, and since you get skulled when you enter you will loose everything if you die. Regarding weapon: Do NOT take a whip, it simply do very little damage on the abyssal monsters, a dragon long sword is way better. I dont have personal exp of using other weapons in there. I agree with everyone who said focus on the weak abyssal leeches. You can kill many of them in short time. *if* you go to the abyss through the wilderness, do not tele out when you are done. Go to a rune altar and craft runes from all the essence you collected while killing the monsters first. Then you can tele to wherever you want ;)
  8. I would say its very much about if you only are after the exp, or if you are after exp + raw materials for other skills. Farming, herblore and crafting are not on your list of skills you plan to raise at the moment. Still you might want to do that sooner or later. In that case, you might want to spend some time with the master farmer, keeping sweetcorn, strawberry, watermelon, white berry, poison ivy, limp seeds + higher herb seeds and eventually wildblood for later. Also some time at rouges den for the gems. For exp only, pyramid plunder. But when in need of variation and raw material for other skills, master farmers or cracking safes - especially when you get your thieving level up a bit and can do them without getting caught.
  9. I enjoy skills that offers a lot of variation when you level them. Slayer is a very good example. I simply go where the slayer master send me, which often mean places where I most likely dont go on my own choice. In addition to that, slayer give exp in several different areas, combat stats + prayer + sometimes mage or range. Herblore. Not mixing the potions as such, but the whole concept of collecting raw materials from both monster drops, spawns and farming. Collecting monster drops when I am on slayer assignment or clue hunting, spawns when I am in more or less lazy mood, farming when in the mood for that. Variation, that is what I like. :) Crafting. Kill dragons with chance for clues + bones for prayer exp in addition to the hides. Seaweed collecting, lunar magic supermake glass, run to obelies (and finally the extreemly booooooring server jumping to get the staffs). Cut gems (thieves, mined or drops), make jewellary, enchant or high alch. Mine and craft. Simply a lot of different ways: Variation :) Buying raw material and sell finished high level end products: That is not for me, as it simply makes me very bored.

How much of Recepie for disaster have you done? You will be able to buy more apples from the Lumby chest the more you have done of the quest. When the quest is completed, you can buy 50 apples at the time from the chest. So my best advice is to make sure you do as much you can of the subquests in Recepie for disaster :)
  11. If you havent already, I suggest you take a look at tip.it's treasure trail guide, it's here: http://tip.it/runescape/?page=treasure_trails.htm In it, you will find tables of what monster drop which level clues, pictures of possible rewards, and help with riddles, anagram and other very useful stuff. Whenever you get on to doing level 2 or 3 clues, the coordinate locator is *very* useful :) If you have a question about any clue, please doublecheck the guide, it *is* covering everything I know of, but since its a very large guide, you sometimes dont find what you are looking for directly. If you still have any questions after doublechecking the guide, please ask them one the forum for clues and random events. On that board ou will find also find a topic about different peoples favourite ways to get the different level clues. There are also sticked topics about best and worst rewards from treasure trails - dont expect to get good stuff every time ;)
  12. Not to mention how often I fail when I try to pick the ogre coffins.... I mean, it's easy to think a level 96 thief would be reasonably successful with something that takes level 20 to thieve. But nope, I fail, fail and fail.... and before someone ask, yeah, I do keep my stats up with superrestores and Relicym's balm.
  13. Using a loom to weave baskets. Read this to see what I mean. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basket_weaving
  14. Not with a quest monster, but when killing the giant snails on the temple trekking minigame, their shells sometimes fall at places where you cant take them. Thats not a big loss though, since they have no current use in game, but it seems to be the same problem that you have.
  15. From my experience (96 thieving, several of my higher level from master farmers), master farmers does NOT give tree seeds, only birds nests do. So, firstly, birds nests are the only source of tree seeds. Also, ground birds nests are second ingredient to saradomin brew. Last, bird nest give red, green or blue eggs, who has no current use in game.
  16. AAArgh, I misread your title I read "A Guide to Fun RuneCrafting" hmmm, why cant there be such a guide? :wall:
  17. http://kbase.runescape.com/lang/en/aff/ ... le_id=2159 black mask :P
  18. Give it a try, see how you do, get an idea what you need to work on. Remember you dont loose any items when you die in there, except for food, potions and arrows of course. But take some cheap food and arrows and go in take a look :)
  19. What takes time is getting the battle staffs, they spawn very slow in shop, so you need to do a LOT of server jumping, buying 5 at the time. In addition to Varrock staff shop and Yanille Magic guild, the chickenleg house shop on Lunar isle also sell battle staffs. When I do it, I take an air staff, 27 orbs + 81 cosmics. Run to air obelisk, charge orbs which give 1 empty space in inventory when all cosmics are used, so I can tele back to edge with my glory ammy. Boots of lightness of course :) But yeah - it is VERY good crafting exp.
  20. The saw from eyes of glouperie raise your level +3, and can be combined with tea. 28 uses before it need to be recharged. So tea + saw =+6 construction, which means you can build a golden altar at level 69. You can also play around with Evil Dave's stew (recepie for disaster) and get as much as +6 construction but it's appearently very random. But if very lucky +6 from stew and +3 from tea =+9 construction
  21. Earlier today I was at shades, and had it happen once, only once today. The day I made my other post it happened repeatedly. I also was at abyssal demons today, and had absolutly no problems there. I could however imagine how horrible it would be if you had to manually attack them after each time they teled.... So whatever it it, it's not happening all the time - but I have absolutly no clue what triggers the autoretaliate to act up :(
  22. You need to duel someone to get in there. You need to choose obstacles in the dueling screen. Yep, definitly one of the clue locations I dislike the most, because it either involve asking a friend to come help you, or getting a stranger in there. Edit, here is a little more detail: Best is to do it with a friend first time. With a random stranger, no matter how you try to tell them to wait with fighting until after you found your chest, they never seem to understand what you are talking about... When doing it: first check the tip.it locator to see where it is located. If you know the exact spot, you dig it up very quickly and are then free to fight. Second: In the duelling screen, make sure to check the obstacles box. I've gotten into the right arena every time when on clue so if you just remember to check the box, you should be fine Third: A lot of people hang out there and accept to fight without any staking or anything. I guess part of the reason is that the low levels find it fun to fight me who high level, but I think it still should be reasonably easy to find someone. Edit 2: McGuff is right, NO wizard will pop up inside the duel arena.
  23. Great guide, and very similar to I do it my self :P Meleeing them is great :D A few minor differences though. I prefer prayer robes instead of initiate armour, since they have the same prayer bonus but are lighter and cheaper. I have skipped the 1-click teleport item, and prefer to tele with dragon ammy. It's a calculated risk, I save 1 inventory space but risk to not get out in time if things go wrong. Since I usually kill mainly iron dragons, I take 2-3 super att pots, but only 1 super str pot - iron drags drop 1-dose super str reasonably often so I can still stay super potted. Then the biggest difference. Cannon. I always bring it. Sure I loose a few slots so I can bring fewer pots, but on the other hand I kill more dragons each trip. Well worth it in my opinon. The inventory space used for cannon is then used to pick up drops and such.
  24. Yeah, it happens every now and then, expecially in multicombat areas. It's similar with the pouches for runecrafting.
  25. Yeah, I have also had problems today and yesterday when killing shades in mortton.
