  1. :( I found out about the poll 18 hours after it had been made, I had been só busy that I didnt have time to check Deviantart. I still am, have to finish this 'Immersive Space' in Flash first. -.-
  2. EDIT: No more votes needed due to a overwhelming amount of votes for my entry. If you didnt vote yet, vote for the one you like most. ;) Hello everyone, To every Deviantart user out there, a photo of mine made it to the top 10 in a Tree contest. Please vote for #9, my photo, and I might be able to get into the top 10! Vote here! It is currently ranking at 4, so please vote quickly! Sorry for the shameless act, but hey... for once.. ;)
  3. In case you need more board-designs, here are some by one of my favorite vector-artists: [hide=STEP ASIDE FOR THE BIG IMAGE][/hide] http://j3concepts.deviantart.com/art/Bo ... -108701582 It keeps on getting better, well done.
  4. So thats what the 'worthy foe' sigs are about :P Great art, so wrong that its entertaining.
  5. Yeah the MP-E 65mm is pretty much the god of macro photography (I'm dying to try it out myself). But it doesn't focus to infinity so you have to be pretty die-hard about macro photography to buy one of your own. Last time I checked, it was at around $800, plus it is HIGHLY recommended that you get a macro flash which is another $500 - $700, unless you want a flash bracket which seems rather annoying to carry around. I'm very sorry, littleboy, for hijacking your thread :ohnoes:  If you really want more macro, you could always get near the 100% crop of your photo. You can get a bit closer once you do that, but the quality will start to lack pretty soon by doing that. A ring flash would be the first thing to consider if I would start to focus more on macro, but still, the EF 100mm is still an excellent macro lens. :)
  6. Wow, interesting. I heard about focus stacking before, but I have never heard of the MP-E 65mm. I thought 1:1 was the max, and you could only go to 2:1 and beyond by using teleconverters and extension tubes :)
  7. The photos above all look great, but the more I think about it, the more it starts to look fake... -The waterdrops in those photos seem unnaturally big. I havent seen them as big as that, and I know lots of stories where the photographer uses some substance (wax?) to keep the drops intact, while adding more water to them. -All these photos could have been made inside a softbox (except the second one) which also doesnt add to the 'natural' feel to them. These are all great money makers though, and I havent got a clue how much effort he put into making these. :)
  8. Meh, I dont think only the subject as in 'waterdrop' is overdone, its the lighting that lacks too which is just as important as the drop itself. Waterdrops can make great photos, once it has been done right. Like the one below, the lighting is great and the colors are fresh too. Combine that with a sharp waterdrop: Great results. [hide=Photo][/hide] Dont worry, its something that every photographer did/will do. Some stick to it and improve by doing it (Tripsis :P ) And some like it, but dont actively search for it except when they know they are around (me).
  9. I think they look very good, especially the second one. Maybe your could move the center of the 'impact' a bit higher, it seems like its just a bit too low. Keep it up :)
  10. 4 people already, including me
  11. First of all: No, not the TV series. Photography Competition - Numbers Enter a photo which has a number/numbers in it. Present the numbers you found in an original way, and stand a chance in this competition  Manipulated or not, its up to you. I personally think that photos should not be as manipulated in a way that you can see it, the photo makes the photo and not the things you did to it on your computer. Manipulation is fine, just dont do it too extremely ;) . But anyway, its up to you what you do with your photos. The Rules: 1. Everything has too be your own. That means any photos, manipulated or not, have to be yours. 2. Older photos are allowed 3. 2 entries max. Like every photo-competition, I have to see whether people will actually enter instead of looking at how the competition goes. Dont be lazy, (especially if you like photography) and participate :) As for the deadline: Something around Febuary 4th, it could become later if people need more time. Or, if we get around 10 entries in around 2 weeks, the deadline will be shortened. Thats all, look around and have fun
  12. Another year? this was just one competition :) Congratulations, I wish I couldve entered something. -.-
  13. Looking good, again  Some things for you to try out: Try to position your camera until its just not completely horizontal to the water. These photos are all moderately high from the water, this results in a busy background that takes the serenity (wrong spelling, I know) away. I dont know the situation in your softbox, but I think you should be able to get a white background from that. (Using your new flash might help too, to freeze the water or to flash outside of your softbox for a diffused light) Take a look at this one, its pretty much the 'perfect splash photo' and this is the kind of position I mean: This is an interesting website too, about the history of splash photography: http://courses.ncssm.edu/hsi/splashes/history.htm (Think of the photographers that used film :ohnoes: , hundreds of shots with just a few good ones.. that should have cost them alot of money)
  14. To add to the list of inspirational artists: (I try to avoid the 'fanboy' thing, I dont really promote the pageview-related-fame but here are some artists:) http://mustafadedeoglu.deviantart.com/gallery/#_popular A great all-rounder, he's got some great street photos too. http://slpdomain.deviantart.com/gallery/#_popular Her photos are very inspirational and she experiments alot, but she upload so much that I usually delete most of her deviations. http://notbland.deviantart.com/gallery/#_popular Photographs cars mostly, but you should also check him out if you dont like cars because of the light and movement he captures with his camera. http://pheelfresh.deviantart.com/gallery/#_popular A great landscape photographer from Norway. His stories in his Artist' Comments are great to read.
  15. Marcadamus is a true master indeed. His photos are unbelievable, I havent seen a single photo of him that I didnt like. The same goes for Werol, but he always seems to saturate his photos just a tad too much. His work is great too, he just uses a different style I guess :)
  16. http://pelicanh.deviantart.com/art/Anci ... -105895768 Sure. ;) I knew someone would notice that -.- Artistic nude is a form of art too, and this is a very subtle photo of a great looking (dutch) woman. You cant deny it, she looks nearly perfect. :)

  18. Lazy? maybe.. but here's the link: http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com/favourites/ These works got into my favs because they inspire me. Every single one is incredible and amazes me.
  19. Keep it up, the cropping is a bit off at the 3rd photo but they're all good.
  20. Haha, post the results in this thread
  21. Landing on sea without a boat to float on? ;)
  22. Your body needs to 'recharge' itself, sleep is something that your body needs to keep going.
  23. These drawings were found by the allies in 1945 (In Germany), and they are getting auctioned now. Its some kind of an arrow-dart with a 1000kg bomb on it, its a very narrow plane so it would be nearly impossible to take down from the ground. The pilot would escape by using some kind of parachute after he would release the bomb. [hide=Weblinks]http://www.geenstijl.nl/archives/images/dartpijl12.jpg http://www.geenstijl.nl/archives/images/dartplane.jpg[/hide] [hide=The (big) sketches] [/hide] I wonder what would have happened if they continued this plan, and if it would have changed the course of WW2. I'm not sure if the 'escape' plan would have worked, the pilot would be seen by lots of people and he would land on enemy territory. Discuss
  24. :( If the weather stays like this, I wont enter anything. I went to the woods yesterday, it was sunny but there was nothing interesting enough. I didnt see one single insect, while I intended on making some macros. However, I will enter something once the snow falls down. Not sure if that will happen again though.
