  1. Some ringtone company keeps on raving about 'Achmed the dead terrorist'. :wall:
  2. I wonder what goes on in your mind.. That book wins.
  3. Maybe you should invest in a nice camera bag/tripod/filters. A good circular polarizer can cost quite some money, but its a must have if you like Landscape photography. The lenses you have right now seem fine to begin with ;)
  4. Grats on the new camera  As for the 'test shots': They look ok, they are basically snapshots. Which isnt bad at all, you will move away from the 'snapshot' period when you have your camera under control and you know what you can do with it. Looking at other photos and experimenting+practice will help alot too. When shooting cats (something I do.. too much), try to include their ears as much as possible. But it can turn out nice if you dont, like in the third photo. My personal favorite is the first 'Character shot of Bandit', which doesnt look like a snapshot and seems kind of 'pro', even though that wasnt your intention. ;) The colors also look best, try to do something with the lighting/contrast/saturation in your photos so they dont look bland. Maybe a tiny bit of sharpening could be added as the 'final touch', but it doesnt really need any. As for the background, the green kind of distracts the viewer. I played a little with it, this is what I did: [hide=Basic Editing] [/hide] 1) I selected the green background with the Lasso tool, converted that part to black and white. 2) Re-framed it, so the interesting things stayed 3) +25 saturation, thanks to LP for that 'trick' 4) 5px border, since I always finish it with a border. The one below is overexposed, maybe you could change the levels to make it a bit darker. Thats it, if you need any advice ask me. Im glad to help, especially when it comes to photography. :)

    New work.

Try to balance the colors in your signatures, or at least work with 1 main color that you will work with. The second one kind of looks like it has 2 signatures in one, they both have potential. They could also use some sharpening, so it looks better graphic-wise. Text-Looks good, doesnt need a change. Keep it up
  6. Moved to Tech and Computers.
  7. Lingo :o Thats awesome.
  8. Replace the gray with dark army-green, and you have my shoes. Bought them while I was in America, Potomac Mills. 8-)
  9. [hide=Blacksurge Story] [/hide] Thats quite a story. I think you should forget about her. It might sound blunt, but there's nothing you can do if she lives 800 miles away. I read about 75% of the story, so am I right to say that you only talk to Kylie online?
  10. Hmm.. in that case, it would be a wise decision to upgrade to something that is truly yours :) If you dont really care about brands, I would suggest the Canon 350D. Its the best selling camera in history, and I can tell you its a great camera because I have got one too. If you really like the 'Nikon' interface and you want to use your previous lenses, take a look at the Nikon D80. Its a bit pricy, but it should be a great upgrade from the D40. I would also suggest to try a Canon camera in a camera shop, so you can feel it in real-life and you will see the differences. Nikon users will mostly stick to Nikon, same as Canon users.
  11. Are you sure you want to upgrade including the body? Ive read that there are some pretty good lenses made for Nikon cameras by Nikkor, check them out ;) Why exactly do you want to upgrade? And what kind of subjects do you want to shoot with your upgraded gear?
  12. $1000 = 637 :ugeek: Anyway, I would buy a Canon 40D with a new lens. [hide=Pictures] [/hide]
  13. thats a serious lawlz moment right there, cant be more then 20-30min drive from me OT: what kinna camra you using woopidoo Canon EOS 350D + Canon EF 100mm f2.8 USM. Nothing else in this case, also no UV filter because I shattered it.
  14. Haha, lots of people say that. This was after a day of rain, one of those gray, boring days that we've had for the last couple of weeks. And then I think about you Americans, where it never seems to rain :)
  15. Thanks again. 'Facets' I believe :-k Added another one, a sunset. I cycled like a mad man to find a spot that was good enough, the sunset was already fading. Taken on a bridge.
  16. Moved to the Art Bazaar. ;)
  17. Thanks alot everyone. :) I got the blur because 1) the plants were quite far away (1 meter or so) and 2) I used f5, which gave me a shallow depth of field just to get the fly sharp. I like the blur alot personally, that way the fly really stands out. I wont stop photographing, dont worry :)
  18. After a time of not using my macro lens, I took it outside to do something with it again. I walked to a bush in my garden which usually has some insects on it, but this time there were lots of these flies and some wasps on it. I dont know why but there were alot of them, maybe they were gathering water after the rain or something. [hide=Photo][/hide] [hide=Second photo][/hide] [hide=Third Photo][/hide] This photo could also be used as a wallpaper, I'm using it right now (which I dont do that often, own photos as wallpaper) 1200x800 1900x1280 (dont know the exact numbers, Im sure it will fit on your screen.) Comments/Favs/CC/ all welcome.
  19. There's no true balance in the colors. I see bright blue, black, burned sky behind him.. I cant add anything else besides 'Its alright'. ;)
  20. Yes, all of your questions go to the Questions sticky ;) -Locked.
  21. Thanks  I thought this topic died. So I sent the 4th photo to the city-hall, to see if they wanted to buy the photo for posters/website/etc. But I got a somewhat harsh reply back that they werent interested :( Better luck next time.
  22. This isnt really 'out my backdoor', its from my parents' room window. Right after my dad was done gardening in the backyard, on a boring day. And he was also painting the fence, as you can see :) [hide=] My cat likes to walk on the roof, she mostly jumps out of that window to reach that place.[/hide]
  23. Unmanipulated: Manipulated: (No real 'manipulation' as in colors (sp?) , but I did more than just a level adjustment.)
