  1. Man I could never trust somebody enough to do a dm regardless of the rules (excluding bare fists inventory of ash lol). I would just figure that they wanted free (insert items allowed during dm) and would have several friends log in to finish me off if I won. But glad that yours didn't go south (in terms of honor not rewards lol).
  2. Look at his sig... now I will give you ten guesses to figure it out... Not to mention that a greataxe has more than one attack style. The comment of 99 str was to obviously help find out the xp rate at that lvl which would be somewhat higher than at the 70 str required to use dharoks. Anywho, I have been told that you can get faster attack (and def) xp from whipping but of course str training with dharoks owns. Try an hour of each there and you will have all the info you need. Two hours from the time that you will need for 99 for 100% accuracy on the info is well worth the effort. Feel free to share the info though, of course :P
  3. I pay two prices: Premium - I will pay market prices, forum prices, outrageous prices for something that I need or desire greatly. Normal - I will pay what I can afford to be able to make a fair profit for the work involved. For example: I buy molten glass at 500 ea max. Why? because that is all it is worth to me. The work required to hop worlds for 1k b staves, enchant 1k air orbs, and do all the crafting then alching is not worth a less than 1k profit each to me. If you want to sell it to somebody else (which has happened plenty of times) then feel free but I'm not paying a dime over 500 ea unless it becomes a premium product for me (which HAS happened at 79.9 craft lvl lol). I say very clearly that "I pay 500 ea but you can get more elsewhere" and have 81 craft from about 50% dhides 50% air b staves. They would not do the work if they did not feel that the wage was worthwhile. Heck half the time they pay somebody to gather the seaweed 100 ea to save them time. As long as everybody feels that they got what they deserved for the work that they did then it doesn't hurt anyone. Side-note: It IS wrong however to trick somebody by making fake threads, having friends pm them, etc. etc. This guy obviously felt that he was maliciously decieving you and therefore SHOULD feel guilty for doing so. I, on the other hand, have a clear conscious when I pay the price that the object is worth to ME. Edit: Hey look I am in another person's sig, go me lol. :P
  4. I was at a public computer on post when I first started playing and recieved one of these emails. Since there was no fear of getting key-logged etc. I went to the site and put in an assorted amount of: Name: losersyou Password: wishlol or Name: zezima Password: HAHAHA or Name: bite me Password: ********** (yes stars not swear words) Eh, I was bored and was already finished with email. I just hope they enjoyed the 40 or so abusive names/passwords after those ones, hehe.
  5. I've had no problem soloing the se portal with melee but if anything it is weak to slash/stab not crush. I unload full dds specs every other round and sometimes wipe out 3/4 of it's hp. Whip hits about 75% of the time and pretty high as well. I was using full veracs there before and wasn't doing NEARLY as well. I can't say for sure that you are right but IF any of them are weaker to melee than the rest it is DEFINATELY the se.
  6. This isn't a new idea (but I don't remember where I originally read it  ) but quite a good one. The best idea though would be to have the rewards paid out in items such as consumables. You could also try a "Jackpot" slot machine that gave out a d chain (or perhaps a rare) but had insanely poor odds. I'm talking like 1 in a trillion. Something that you would plug in 100gp everytime you passed for the sheer chance of it. Another idea I liked is the player vs. player vs. npc gambling. You can try to outplay somebody AND a npc. The only problem that I see would there would need to be some kind of cap for the return because it wouldn't be much fun with card sharks owning the rs economy in a couple weeks lol. It needs a lot of work number-wise for balance but good ideas all around. To those who say that gambling is a immoral act for a family game: The 100s of millions of virtual "Man - Lvl 2"'s that have been murdered in game is more morally correct than gambling your virtual cash? Does killing innocents in-game get you addicted to real life murder? Answer = No. They don't directly translate across so loosen up.
  7. Good story. Your anger got the best of you but your moxie is refreshing. Got stomped and brushed it off. You get an attitude rating of A lol.
  8. Spam Spam squared. Both of you people look around. This is a generally good community that doesn't welcome idiots and jerks *hint* *hint*. If your post has no value DON'T POST IT! On-topic - It would be nice if he did learn something but will probably just use this as another "reason" why he is the world's "victim".
  9. This only forces autoers to other resources and to members. Expect yew prices to plummet. Expect Jagex's pockets to get even fatter. This is the most poorly thought out idea yet if they honestly wanted to stop them... which, if they don't change this update, they don't: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=402 ... sc&start=0
  10. If you quest or lamp for 25 and play the game you will only have 10 hp. When you play the minigame you can die a gazillion times and still get the xp if your team wins. I also just noticed that you only get lvl 16 hp when getting 25 in another skill... that would only require 1 lamp max or 17 hp without one. Not too hard and still quite impressive to be lvl 19 with a shiny red dragon chain on.
  11. The point of poison and recoils is to deal damage WITHOUT gaining xp. In this manner you can kill things such as the vampire in Vampire Slayer. You bring food and recoils and perhaps a poisoned iron dagger to take him out which results in you getting almost lvl 21 attack without gaining any hp xp. This is just an example of how to get started easily with attack. In my opinion the degree of difficulty would be in this order: Prayer - totally easy but quite expensive and has always been possible Mage - a few quests and non-combat spells and you can complete 99 without difficulty Range - Gnomeball, range guild game, quests, and CANNON make this relatively easy as well. Attack - Quests and possibly lamps and Pest Control for the rest Hp/Str/Def - Quests are hard or impossible so lamps until 25 needed
  12. Suggestion: If they bug you and the TITLE SAYS "KARMA" then DON'T READ THEM YOU IDIOT!!! My god, it's not like he tricked or forced you into reading it. Boohoohoo you don't like what you read so you try making an innocent person feel like an idiot because you don't like their story. The story is FAR from flawed and you flame him because of ONE FREAKING WORD!!! Do you have any idea how incredibly stupid that is? Did you know that the word karma wasn't coined by Leesters? Use the search button and you will find TONS of posts well before Leesters'. That is proof enough that "karma" isn't a new topic. Do you even know what the word karma means? Here is an assist: Karma- n - The belief that if one does good or spiritually valuable acts, one deserves and can expect good luck; conversely, if one does harmful things, one can expect bad luck or unfortunate happenings. In his example the guy acted malignantly and got the same in return... how is that NOT karma?!?!? You should really think before you expose your pea-sized brain with drivel such as this. On-topic- Great story and I would have done the EXACT same thing. Feel proud that you acted in an adult manner when you died then got a little vengence when another did not. Good job.
  13. I was in the middle of a trade with another member for 90k ess at 25 ea. Up pops the system update. I noticed that I was a tad shy so I went back to the bank. She sells of 10k. I ask her why instead of sell all to me and by the time we trade for the rest the update hits... needless to say she isn't selling it to me for 25 ea anymore. .... Anywho, I think that the people who, without a doubt, WILL suffer regardless of the situation is f2p newbs... so I went there and gave away all my iron bars worth of iron sets to lvl 10s and below to lessen the impact in an INCREDIBLY small way. Then I get two lvl 3s to fight in their new iron sets and tell them I will pay the victor 10k and the loser 5k when I tele to him in lumby. The fight was pretty one-sided so the losing party x logged to keep his iron lol. It was pretty dang funny I thought. The other guy got the full 15k. :P I was thinking that I had picked a good guy until he started begging for more money immediately after the trade. :x Go figure.
  14. RAHK replied to Thegreatdil's topic in Help and Advice
you get them at.... help and advise Lol too bad everyone didn't post this! Also, feel free to pm me here or in-game if you have a question that you can't get help on. If I don't know it:oops: I bet that somebody on my friend's list does.
  15. Speed and strength for training (low def opponents FTW!) Accuracy and strength for pking (only because you need to KO before escape) Accuracy and speed for dueling (you have all the time you need to accumulate the damage) My opinion ^^^ Fact: A weapon needs to be twice as accurate and twice as strong than a weapon that is twice as fast to generate the same xp per hour PROVIDED that you are not splashing zeros with the fast weapon. I would much rather have a weapon that hits once a minute but DOES DAMAGE than a weapon that hits once a second that hits perfect goose eggs as would anyone.
  16. Combat lvl 104 (thank you minigame for that hp, attack, and combat lvl) Total lvl 1630 Best Skill 213 qp =p No, it's an embarassing 92 fletch. Fletch -.- all in my sig EDIT: make that 1 hp lvl, 1 combat lvl, INCHES from a range level, and TWO attack levels. 85 att/hp FTW! I love you pest control.
  17. I agree. It is both unnecessary and detrimental to the minigame's longevity. The gp isn't a goal for any people playing since it is now so low and without a "goal" like cw armor there will be no real reason to play after the novelty dies down. I really enjoy the game but I surely won't go play it when it is just me and 6 or 7 lvl 40's after the easy xp/gp. It will still be great fun at tip.it events though *hint* *hint* *HINT*... like once a month please? :D Oh, and welcome back to your topic.
  18. I'm an idiot because I don't get the last sentence's significance. I admit it because you sound quite certain that it means something that goes over my head. Good job. Would any average person call this a full glass of water? Yes, EXCEPT for the air at the top. I would dare to assume that 90%+ people would still call it full but I would be technically correct to call it a FULL glass of water EXCEPT for the tiny amount of space occupied by air. Either way it's a choice of semantics that is hardly worth mentioning regardless of how peeved it may make you. You, my good sir, are an idiot. :? IF you would have taken the time out of your precious schedule to actually READ the topic you would have discovered how *gasp* I EXPLAINED how to do so. Another thing I would like to mention back on topic: HP-less range pures would be much faster to make with a cannon, the range guild mini-game, or possibly even the gnomeball game. I haven't played the gnomeball game in ages so I don't know the range xp, though. HP-less mage pures would be much faster with questing followed by cursing/alching/teleing etc. You could also be semi-useful while playing the minigame with only 10hp by repairing gates etc. that break down. You would get 1-hit a ton but heck you aren't doing anything else. :P
  19. That's why he put "No square" as in "no squareshield". Ever heard of editing? I get my panties in a bunch everytime I read someone saying "FULL" anything when there is stated to be one piece missing. It's bad enough we denizens of the internet make up all sorts of new words, in most cases for the sake of shorthand. What I find disturbing is that we are now adopting political type of speech. Saying something to sell an idea with a complete lie. Other than that, what your post is about is rather interesting. I am sorry if I took this the wrong way but that came off pretty snobby in my opinion. What is the point of words such as "except" or "without"? To state that something is lacking something else. So how else would you phrase an entire set that is missing something? "A lvl 18 wearing d med, d legs/skirt and d chain?!?!" or, to follow this arguement, "A lvl 18 wearing MOST of a dragon set?!?!". I think that words that mean "except" etc. should not be banned from usage, sorry. It IS a FULL set MINUS one piece. Taking away a piece of something does not change it's name unless it changes it's nature. Speaking of political it sounds like that's how you are trying to act: politically correct. Don't get me wrong, I too despise the degradations brought upon the english language by the modern times and the internet but this is FAR from one.
  20. Not always. When sig selling was legal, I was going to buy one for 10m. Instead of just keeping 10m rotting in my bank while the sig was being worked on, I bought a rare so it could at least gain a little interest. I don't really need cash, but it seemed like a waste to just keep the money in my bank. So that makes me a "greedy, money grabber"? EDIT: I rolled eyes at you! NOW YOU MUST RETORT!!! ...Where's a good argument when you need it Lol, want one? Your new bloodveld avatar BLOWS compared to the previous one!!! Bring him back!!! He was faithful for so long!!! Lol jk but I do like the old one better. On-topic: Prices fluctuate during peak hours, holidays, bad weather, everytime a new item comes out, noobs, liars, manipulators, luck, body temperature, gas prices, and balding pygmies' finding four-leaf clovers. Seriously. The market is so variable you can gain/lose millions all day long depending on your luck and skill. I would suggest buying at night and selling during the day for the best luck though.
  21. First thing: if you are taking this personal please tell me because I don't want this to turn into a flame war. It's nice having an intelligent dabate with somebody who can look past the end of their nose to see problems that effect others as well as themselves. Thank you. =] well, not really. i think its safe to say that jagex NEVER INTENDED for money making in runescape to involve investing it items that are predicted to rise continually. i think jagex had every intention of rewarding people with skill-based and risk-based WORK, not investments. I agree wholeheartedly but I don't see where you can get that I said something that would imply I wasn't of like mind. They would have created a game that had markets, stocks, etc. if that was their desire. Regardless of their intentions though they DID allow an investible item group to enter the game. not only that, but there would be no way to predict that dragon bones and prayer pots would be the items rising. the beauty of an open economy (no monopolies) is that if dragon bones rise suddenly, youll find LOTS of players killing dragons to benefit from the price [bleep]e, and what happens? the market is flooded with bone sellers and the prices go back down Firstly, those were only examples of higher-end consumables not meant to be without rebuff. Secondly, what you say is true in a limited sense. Limited as in temporary not lacking. Every single time there is a huge [bleep]e that would happen. The problem is the [bleep]es would level off AND the prices would ONLY rise (short of some game altering change by jagex like a super p pot that refills 50% or something.) To prove my point look at coal prices. Long ago you could easily purchase coal for 100 ea... then 150 ea... now you can't find many sellers unless you pay 200 and for LARGE amounts you can pay upwards of 225 ea (check forums off and on). Without rares absorbing a lot of the EFFECT of inflation these prices would be forced to rise faster and faster due to the nature of inflation itself. in fact, investments would be scarier than ever. if cavs and berets were the primary items merchants invested in, then there would be sudden crashes when jagex release things like infinity hats and wizard hats (g). the problem would be that the "most valuable" item could flip at a moment's notice with the new update and new fad, and it would make this type of investing too risky for too many people All of that is EXACTLY correct. The problem is: psuedo-rares would not be "investments". To invest in something you would need to put your gp in something that would RISE in value not FALL. I pointed several examples of those things of which all are "consumables". Think if you had bought 200mil worth of coal in the beginnings of rs2 (you would have had to buy every coal mined lol but you get the idea) at 100 ea. BAM! You just doubled your money today. Only the first 99 runesmiths and merchants could have done this but you get what I am getting at. my point is that the rate of inflation itself would not be so high. if the most expensive item was under 10 mil, then lots of people would not be as motivated to hi alch 2k magic longs. once somebody made 10 mil and bought the best item there is, they would work on other aspects of the game, because there is no real influence to produce billions of dollars. of course there would be some multimillionaires, but i can bet you that money creation would not be half the rate it is if there were no rares at all Again I have to agree and disagree with you (I do that alot I know lol). YES, if what you said was true (max item 10mil) then that would be the case. BUT the problem is items that are at that price NOW would not be if inflation had it's true reign. When a new psuedo-rare debued they would enter the market at a MUCH MUCH higher price because there would be a ton of excess gp that would be worth less now than ever before. Example: 1mil bought the first rune 2handers. Because of the nature of the game at the time they were invaluable for pking. They were ancient magic... They were whips... and they ONLY cost 1mil. Nowadays 1mil is obtainable in a day EASILY. Back then 1mil was MUCH harder to come by. Therefore it was worth more. Ask an old RSC veteran what they would pay nowadays for a weapon as potent and rare as a rune 2hander was back then. It would be a TON. The point I am making is a mil bought a LOT more then than it does now. yes, i am aware that the rising cost of rares absorbs the rising amount of gp being circulated. this has already spiraled out of control as the prices will continue to rise, and more gp will be created AS A RESULT, and the prices will rise AS A RESULT and so on. the rise of the price of rares is directly linked to the urge of players to hi alch at ridiculous rates, and the amount of gp in the economy is directly linked to the rare price increases, so each feeds the other with no break in sight. So you are telling me that people would not desire and therefor work their tails off for expensive things if they were not investable? All of the psuedo-rares beg to differ my take is that there would be less gp being created, because there would be no escalating price commodity to chase, and no powerful demand. there would be no real cash investments, and there would be significantly less gp in the ecomony overall. wealth would be based on assets rather than cash. people would spend their resources on skills rather than gp profits. inflation would be at a much more "natural" 3-4% per year. thats the way i see it if rares were never in the game in the first place When rares become absolutely unobtainable for new players (in a year or two when they are worth billions each) does that mean that all of the new players will stop working? No matter how fast they alch they will never be able to alch faster than the prices inflate. For every mil they alch the rares will rise five. It will come to a point where they will NEVER have a chance at a rare when they join. Now, does all this mean the won't play? Of course not. It means they will do what they do know. Work at smaller goals and hope against hope. I have maybe 50mil in total assets and to catch a phat set I would have to sacrifice all the things in the game that I enjoy to reach them... which I, and I would like to think MOST, won't do. I go after the goals that I enjoy and that are obtainable. Picture all the rares being made untradeable. After the massive amount of people who quit because that was 90% of their net worth prices would start to rise... and quickly. If you were super rich with 500mil+ gp sitting in your bank how much would you be willing to pay for the next useful psuedo rare? A ton. If you decided you wanted 99 prayer and you had that kind of cash with nothing to put it into you would camp out on forums outbidding every bone buyer that came along because you could afford it EASILY. Right now it costs ONLY 113mil to ecto 99 prayer from 1. To a portion of players this is chump change. Ask r2 pleasant. By paying only 22mil more they could buy all the bones they wanted at 3k each. Now think if there were *shock* TWO people on forums at the same time with the same goal. How much higher would they bid over each other? What about 3 people? 4? 100? Without someplace to spend their cash the super rich would make gp almost worthless in short order. Look at Diablo 2. You can't buy ANYTHING from another player with gp it has nearly zero value for this same reason. The past is the best indicator of the future. :? Now let me go play this game we mention because I adore this new minigame. I wish they made only 3 of the portals killable though so it would last the full 20. Less rewards for me but a TON more fun. :o I'll check this thread later see ya. :) I hope somebody replied in the half hour or so that it took me to type this lol.
  22. Barrows has three important factors which I will list in ascending importance: 1. The gp printed from the chest is yet another way for gp to enter the runescape community. Is this a problem? Yes. A big one? Hardly. The time needed per run and the amount of gp generated keeps this low as does the final point in a HUGE way. If jagex wants to create gp printers this is DEFINATELY the way to do so but I still think it is unnecessary. 2. The barrows entering the economy had the same initial effect as any good psuedo-rare (whips and chains no pun intended). It has the same EFFECT on inflation as rares do but a much smaller and TEMPORARY one. If I remember correctly prices on certain things were a little more stable then as a result. 3. The need to repair barrows is basically a TAX. Taxes of this nature are a HUGE hole for gp to fall into which WAY MORE than compensates for the gp spawned from the chest. This is probably the second best gp hole that I can think of other than rune shops. GREAT JOB Jagex!
  23. Hehe that made the whole story  I hear the rune makes human flesh nice and crunchy. Great story thanks for sharing.
  24. Another thing that I thought would be funny is the opposite. An hp pure! That would be crazy as well and a great hybrid skill pure. A lvl 25 with 99 hp getting attacked by a tree spirit (lvl 39 tree spirit at lvl 25?) would probably be able to get a whole load of magic logs before their hp ran out lol... and BOY would they have some fun with duelers and an inventory of food and recoils  . They would get owned still but it would be pretty funny having to eat 10 sharks or something from your own damage on a lvl 25. 8)
  25. consider this. the existence of tradeable rares in runescape create a very powerful demand for them. the demand is super high not only because a rare item is collectible, but more importantly because it is a 100% guaranteed profit investment. no matter how expensive a rare is, people will pay the price for it, because they are guaranteed to make a profit on it in the future. this is a form of passive income, and is a very attractive commodity in order to satisify this demand, people who want a rare for investment purposes are going to need LOTS of moolah. how? 2 ways, either print their own money (high alching) or get it from elsewhere in the economy (merchanting). lets say for argument sake that the money for the rare is half alched cash and half merchanted. now he can afford to buy the rare at above the price the previous seller bought it for. the next in line rare owner is also alching and merchanting his way up to the rare price, as is the next in line and the next in line. because of this, we have a people making money chasing after the very fast rising rare price. more money is being made by alching, so more money in the economy. more money is also being transferred, so prices of other items are also being affected now, lets take rares out of the economy completely. imagine that rares were never tradeable, and p hats were nothing more than primitive looking wooly hats. do you think that people would alch and merchant as much? would there be as much money in the economy? would there be anything in the ecomony increasing at 100-150% per year? think about it. there's no right or wrong answer, just what you think would be the state of the runescape economy if there was never anything such as atradeable rare Well you can think of it that way or you can realize that if there were no rares then there would be other items that people sought. If people were honestly comitted to making safe investments they would never buy frivolous items like cavs, berets, etc. and would instead invest it into items that can only go up (prayer pots, coal, d bones, etc.) The fascination with rares would be transfered to other items. Without rares the super rich would be willing to pay much higher prices for things such as d chains, guthans, whips, etc. Rares keep the EFFECT of inflation lower because it gives the super rich from putting their assets towards "useful" goods. No rares = Investments are now merchable consumables. They are stable and slowly rise (much faster now that there are no rares to absorb the impact of inflation). Psuedo-rares are now incredibly expensive because people have more gp available for high-end purchases. D chains would probably remain well above 100mil with whips above 20mil. With nothing else to spend their incredible reserves on the super rich would be willing to pay a TON more for the VERY NEXT d chain/whip that entered the market. Auctions would actually be AUCTIONS because people would have a lot of disposable income and would want to show their wealth. General consumables would raise at an incredibly fast rate because without any items to go for after attaining all of the psuedo-rares the super rich desire they would have no other goals than stats (and fun people come on it's a freaking game... falling on deaf ears? =p). When somebody went to sell 1k magic logs there would be a small bidding war because it is much harder to gather items for use at an affordable rate. Look at what is happening to p pots/ranarrs. You can get 7k ea EASILY and I have seen them go for 8k ea occasionally. People want them and are willing to pay the higher and higher resulting prices. WITH rares = Investments are nearly SOLELY rares. They are a fixed amount of items that can ONLY get more rare (bannings, lonely deaths, etc.) They act as a HUGE buffer to keep prices stabalized. Psuedo-rares enter the market at a much lower price due to the fact that it is common knowledge that there will always be more entering the market and there are MUCH better investments for your excess gp. They also fall at a faster rate because they are not the "best" show of wealth. General consumables rise at a VERY slow rate because of the rares absorbing the EFFECT of inflation. This is why coal rates have ONLY doubled after years. Well, actually a lot of people mine the Essence, craft the Natures, make their own bows. That bring pure GP in. So calm down. I don't even know why I bother posting on this forum anymore...I don't think I'll ever make a thread again. I can't tolerate responses from people who have no idea what is going on. - i agree with you that people really need to think before they just post nonsense on here... I mean seriously is natures, essence, or bows gp????? lets think here for a sec....... NO! - i will agree with everything except when u say general stores dont bring it out of circulation. Whenver you buy an item from there money is taken out of circulation. I can agree that purchasing items from shops is a great money sink but there are a TON of items that are sold directly to general stores as well. If you think of runes and arrows the stores in general are a money hole but GENERAL stores sell nothing more valuable than a few gp while paying for things such as many monster drops, coifs, hard leather bodies, willow longs (u), lower smithed items, lower smithed bows, and many more items. In summation, you are correct if you include all stores but not if you only point to general stores as I did in my example. NOTE TO AUTHOR: Look at these two guys! They have brains!!! Come back and post lol we aren't all idiots. They (and others) have shown a marked increase in intelligence over the initial posters.
