PLEASE READ THE POST! It has no practical use other than to look cool. The people who make these characters are the same people who buy cavs. They serve no purpose other than to impress.

Hehe, I knew people would come around to this line of thought sooner or later. It is another pretty neat novelty. Like an untradeable phat that you had to get xp to "wear".

All very intelligent observations and ideas but I would like to say one thing to all the high levels out there who can take a pounding about the highlighted section: Stand right dead-center of the portal. You will prevent 1/4 to 1/2 of the monsters from going after the VK. Occasionally you will cause them to act like idiots and walk in circles when you stand there as well. You can take the punishment the VK can't... and if you die nobody cares. :twisted: Also, I have noticed that the NPCs are basically mobile walls that haven't allowed me to attack over them as well as all of the other things that you mentioned. My tactic is the same as yours but when I return from leading them on a wild goose chase and I can't reach the trapped spinner by one monster I cast ice on the one near him which usually gets him to come to me. :D

WOW. I feel the author's pain. This is embarassing, Tip.iters! If you have no grasp on the concepts at hand please do not post! Seriously, it's ridiculous. A few well thought-out responses and the rest is idiocy. Let me write it out crayola-style so your childish minds can comprehend: RED = Concepts you need to know GREEN = Explanations that hopefully make it easier to understand. 1. The MORE gp brought into the game the less it's value. (If you have 10mil you will pay full price or higher for something you need as opposed to having 1gp.) 2. GP is the only factor that it is important. (Any ITEM brought into the game has NO effect on the amount of total gp. Only in certain circumstances can those items be directly converted to gold and ONLY THEN do they effect the total. Rares do not turn into gold or delete gold so they have no impact on the TRUE value of the gp. See Final Note.) 3. GP is INFLATING due to GP being "printed". (Alching, thieving, general stores, mini-games, etc. CREATE GP they do NOT bring it out of circulation. Picture having a job in real life where the boss prints your paycheck out in fresh $20 bills. Picture a store that bought your items in the same manner. See the problem?) Please do not flame unless you know what you are talking about! I hope this is clear enough because I am rather tired but it should suffice. Final Note: True rares lessen the EFFECT of the inflation (NOT lessen inflation otherwise they would have to consume gp like a girlfriend (jk =p)) on the general economy ONLY because it takes the gp of the super rich from going to consumables (magic logs, sharks, d bones, etc.). They do NOT CREATE gp. They are a perfect example of what inflation does to items. If it were not for rares the super rich would be more than willing to spend more and more on the consumables that they wanted. Picture p pots at 50k a pop. Ugly, eh? :wink: EDIT: Ooh, I am quoted in a sig! First time lol go me! *jigs* :P

If you would read you would find out that I mentioned that you need quests and/or genie lamps to get the starting levels. :wink: I mentioned that this was basically worthless... reread it. It's a novelty. Like a wc pure or I Oh Henry I before Mahatma pimped him out for staking (read his thread if you haven't, its awesome)

Now it's possible. 8) (TY darkdude98 for mentioning quests requirements for some armors.) READ THE WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU MAKE A THOUGHTLESS COMMENT PLEASE!!! An interesting thing is now available for the reasonably patient with this new mini-game. If you do some quests (with or without help) to get any of your combat stats 25 (also, god forbid, you could gather 50+ lamps) or above you can now make hp-less pures (like a cannon pure). Not life altering but would make for some cool combos: 13 combat with full rune (chain) 18 combat with full dragon (no square) 20 combat with almost any barrows armor (no weapon) 22 combat with Obby maul 25 combat with a whip, guthan spear, or verac flail 25 combat with 99 hp, a gazillion recoils, food, and a duel opponent =p 43 combat with FULL Veracs or Guthans :shock: or for those who are truly nuts: 103 combat with maxed 99s and 10hp :wink: None of this is really that useful for staking or pking unless the combat of your opponent is also quite low. It would be pretty cool to whip out full veracs in a duel at level 43 combat (too bad you could only hit 1s lol) If you have a ton of luck and a gazillion rings of recoil you could always try to survive a battle with a lvl 100 and hope against hope that he doesn't hit anything good at all in Shadow of the Storm. Beat that and you get level 25+ in any combat skill other than mage I believe. Probably harder to do that than raise it with genie lamps lol but anything is possible, hehe. EDIT: Two useful ideas: 1. 99 hp pure dueling with no food and recoils could own afk lol. Just make sure they aren't too high. 2. Getting 25 in any combat skill only gives 16 hp if you get 1 lamp which only raises your combat a max of one. This would GREATLY speed this up while still being quite impressive. Note: I don't think this has been mentioned as such but feel free to flame if it has. :roll: I am not about to read through all of the pages about the new mini-game.

I was aware of what he said, but I was making it clear that there are other ways/methods to ectoing. Obviously, if you're going to compare the best conditions in pest control to the worst in ectoing... its one sided. When comparing things you either have to compare the worst conditions for both... or the best conditions for both. Thats what I was getting at. And clearly... the best conditions for ectoing would be buying the Drag bones in bulk and then ectoing. Not killing the dragons and blah blah blah. If you need a better explanation as to what I'm getting at... I'll be more then happy to explain further. I just don't want to post a bunch of figures and opinions only to either be ignored or to have one of my lovely "fans" come and decide to flame me for being "negative". :? I understand very clearly that you are correct about buy/ecto is by FAR the fastest prayer xp (short of BURYing ourg bones *eep* :shock: ) and I understand that playing this game with 25 126's would be incredibly fast prayer xp. My point is that you say that his specific example is wrong unless he does it as specifically as he stated... I am FAR from arguing with all of the other points that you made because they are all valid and well-proven. You can go forth and mention other things that have nothing to do with what he said to prove a point that you are making but that still has nothing to do with the subject at hand: 1. He said a specific example. 2. You said he was wrong unless he did exactly what he said. 3. You went on to say things about an example unrelated to his. (Unrelated because his example was finite not open-ended.) I'm not trying to make you feel bad for making an error. I am not trying to start a flame war. I agree that I doubt that it helps but since no other ring is needed you might as well take it. :P What you kill is probably an important factor of which runes etc. you recieve but this is about barrows items and nothing more :wink: Feel free to do 100 runs on every monster I promise I will read every last digit of your results. I'm not kidding I will if you feel like doing all that work. :) It would be nice to organize another thread like this but I don't see it happening from the simple fact that not many kids have the discipline to do 100 runs, annotate 100 runs, kill a set number of things for 100 runs, kill ONLY those things for 100 runs, and then be honest enough to say that they accidently killed a rat that time they got the guthan spear. I hope this thread doesn't encounter those problems...

I beg to differ, I highly doubt the prayer EXP at this new place is better then Ectoing. At level 58 I would get about 561 exp from this new mini game. Thats only about 2 dragon bones ectoed. Now... it would be different if you were killing the dragons yourself... but most people usually buy the bones in bulk. So I would have to say you're wrong in that respect. Correct me if I'm wrong. EDIT: At first I forgot to take into consideration the amount of points a person gets. I suppose if you'd get 15 points in the new mini game, it would be the same as ectoing, but definitly NOT better. If you get anything below 10 points... My guess would be that you'd be better off ectoing. NOTE: I am by no means saying this game is useless. God knows I'd be playing it if I was still a member. I just also understand where some of the complainers are coming from. I knew someone would argue the point, and I am glad you did. I forgot to take into account that prayer level makes a difference. But my point was that when KILLING dragons, it is slower to ecto. Of course buying bones would yield a much higher xp/hour, but that would also cost way too much (the mini game is free, no food required, prayer recharges each time). Also, When you buy bones and ecto, you ONLY get prayer XP, but when playing this minigame, you get combat XP for killing the monsters and portals. At 494 (argh used to be 988) xp per point, I find the prayer XP to be pretty good, considering each game takes 2-3 mins tops. I am 77 Prayer BTW. Oh and one more point.. Ecto is BORING, this game isn't :P. I would just like to point out the things in bold.... Y2g2003 he very clearly stated that he meant killing them and followed it up even clearer rebuttal stating the same. He is NOT arguing that buying/ectoing is slower as you have mentioned again in the post above... :wink: Anywho I can't wait to try this game out even IF the xp is garbage because it sounds like a ton of fun. :D

I can tell you EXACTLY what 6 KC will get you (I used ROW since there is no need for LIFE with POTs :? ): 0 Bolt Racks 0 Blood Runes VERY FEW Death Runes I did 100 runs with 6KC (btw turn off auto attack while you are down there it helps heaps :wink: ) and never recieved a single bolt rack or blood rune. I also recieved deaths less than once in 10 runs. If I remember I recieved 3 runs with ONLY gp as a reward, recieved 6 barrows items (best was guth pl8 :cry: ), and recieved gp as a reward EVERY SINGLE run. For 6 KC racks/bloods were at least 6 times rarer than barrows items which lead me to believe that it is impossible to get them without killing npcs... and where might you ask are my VERY detailed logs of EVERY single gp/item/rune from that test? I had got 6 runs into another 100-run test (16 KC 6 brothers and 10 skeletons) when my main computer died (as you can see from my location... sigh). I lost all the pics of the stuff that I got along with all the hard data. I have no desire to do this again as it was much more tedious than the 10k and 9,999 KC's so I figure this is as good a spot as any to share what I learned. (for those of you who doubt that I did what I said feel free to search for "9,999 KC" and keep it to yourself)

Leo is an awesome event to get while training any place with keepable drops. You get a FREE BANK TRIP without having to waste time nor tele. Bank all your drops and get back to training with a new emote or some nifty threads. 8) I WISH that I could get Leo consistently while training... I have gotten him once while getting the 28 bones for rag/bone man but never while training.

My favorite bob sighting was when he got seperated from his lover. He was in the corner of the dwarf shortcut (taverly-side) and she was in the bar. They were pointed at each other and not moving... was kinda sad lol. I figured he would be long gone by the time I made it back but he was still there trying to walk through walls.

PRICELESS!!! Ah, that made me laugh hehe. If only you could plan good randoms such as maze or leo.

If I am killing time waiting for somebody/something or a respawn etc. I bury all bones. If I am low on food/prayer while killing blues I will bank the bones and eventually ecto them. Prayer is an awesome PvNpc skill but the value is more varied PvP.

Yep it is a bad idea, I got 9,999 AND 10k (which, like he said, says Too Many), and recieved garbage. :cry:

In your first post you say: "Are they worth the time and effort of creating these characters? What are the benefits of these pures in the wilderness?" Just trying to answer your question. What more do you need to know? It's up to you to decide if you want a def pure to survive in wildy, or some other pure to get kills. Simple right? I don't mean to be rude, but be more specific in your question when you're looking for specific information. :wink: Lol the most polite flaming I have ever seen. 8) Anywho, if you get 5 level 40's with 4 1def and 1 ONLY def you can have a huge amount of "firepower" with an almost impenatrable defense... as long as you make sure the def pure is taking the hits lol. I would be seriously impressed with a 99 def pure because you can't hit more than 1 with 1 str so that is a HUGE time devotion.

I was at my grandparents 50th anniversary so I missed out. :cry: Sounded like a ton of fun though.

It's a matter of time, eventually you will get hit for 50+ and get a trip to lummy :wink: OT: I usually alchy next to rune rocks in Hero's, although I have been looking for a change in scenery lately :? If he doesn't open the tomb, he wont attack 8) Why would he "do barrows" and not open the crypts? He most likely sidesteps or entangles or ices. It's not that hard but a good bit of lag will kill you easily. Even if you get hit 50+ you can easily sidestep and heal.
