There are 7100 stations in the US that the switch doesn't apply to compared to 1800 that it does. If you want to stay analog, you can still pick up 80% of the stations after the switch. As I and others have said a multiple times before in this topic, if you have cable you don't need to worry about anything.
  4. They used the word empath in a different way, in super hero terms empathy is when your power is to take another person's powers. Sylar's empath power at first required him to cut open the head and understand what was going on. Now he can just empathize with someone and gain their power.
  5. Before Elle that was the only way he knew how to do it, he couldn't control the hunger (or didn't want to). The hunger definitely exists because Peter got it too when he took Sylar's power.

I didn't know that, that's good to know. All the people I know with satellite get their local channels through the satellite so I never had to worry about that.
  7. Sylar can read minds by opening people's heads? No he can't. Yeah that's what I said in my last post, a few people have posted that he can and I am not sure why. He "understands" minds by poking around and his intuitive aptitute does that work.Has nothing to do with mind reading. Which means that at least he (Perhaps normal people too) has the power in him, dormantly, since he only needs to see one instance of it to activate. Yes, if he gets a mind readers powers he will be able to read minds, that is obvious. Right now he hasn't and can't. He is just an empath.
  8. Sylar can read minds by opening people's heads? No he can't. Yeah that's what I said in my last post, a few people have posted that he can and I am not sure why.
  9. I'm guessing he's opening her up to see what she knows about his "parents." Yeah, Seth Green is the man. I don't think Sylar can read memories with his power. I'd also think it is lame if Sylar wasn't a Petrelli, that was a good plot and they made a big deal about it (Sylar still thinks he is Peter's brother in the future they are trying to prevent now). Him being a Petrelli would make sense since the other two empaths we know of are both Petrellis (Peter and Dad), and Nathan was nothing before being given his powers.
  10. His power is to affect people's minds in certain ways, the power neutralization and memory wipe are just part of that. He can't affect them to make them do something or read their minds (as far as we know).
  11. It's been so long since I've used my Wii for anything but GameCube games I can't even remember what my mii looks like.
  12. I thought that was pretty cool also, and while I don't remember what the messenger looked like I think it would be great if they got the same actor back for it. That's what I was thinking, she didn't start screaming as early or as loud as the others we saw. Plus, looked like less blood.
  13. CBR is pretty great, the best place to get comicbook or superheroes in general related news. So this week, do you think Sylar killed Elle? Please no spoilers from next weeks previews. Sylar going back and forth between good and bad is going to get old after a while.
  14. Yep, mini-series first. Also the Razor movie should be watched after season 3, even though chronologically it takes place during season 2.

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/si ... index.html Use the skywatch applet, it will tell you when the best time to see the ISS is. For the US you can put in zip code, then it has preselected international cities to choose from. Make sure to choose ISS from the drop down menu, but you can look up all the other satellites too if you want.

Oh right, my physics teacher told us today, Jupiter and Venus (I think?) are both in the sky around this time, and both quite bright. And since the moon is in the crescent stage, apparently those three together look like a smiley face. ;) Yep, Jupiter and Venus, just looked it up. Tonight is the night it's supposed to look really cool with the moon :) .

I love looking at the stars. Some are satellites, and there are actually two planets close to each other and pretty bright right now.

yeah, your room is huge compared to mine. bust out the piggy and put a 42" plasma in there. a 32" would be decent in my tiny room though. still deciding if 1080p is worth the premium (planning to hook up a PC to it) or i can always just get a 720p and stream the media instead and i haven't started umm... getting the episodes yet. I have to wait a few more days til my bandwidth cap resets. If you are going to use a HDTV as a monitor, I would recommend getting 1080p. But if you go smaller that 32" (you really should if you plan on browsing the 'net with your head 2ft away from the screen) then you could probably just get a 24" computer monitor for cheaper. Just glancing at the first page of monitors on newegg I see this 24" monitor for $300 and it gets better than 1080p resolution. However if you are just going to be using that PC as a media center then a HDTV would work just fine. Use this chart for a guide on whether you need 1080p or 720p, I originally was planning on using this as only a TV and was going to be sitting about 8 feet away from the screen, at that distance with a screen size of 32" people with 20/20 vision can't possibly tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.
  20. The Blu-ray version contains a cast reunion extra as well as a commentary for one of the episodes that the DVD didn't have. The extra episodes that are advertised are the three that were never shown on air, but they are on the DVD version. This is what I glean from amazon reviews at least. As soon as I read your post I almost had a heart attack thinking I missed some episodes :) . @pfilc23: I haven't heard of many people who have watched Firefly and haven't liked it. There are a good amount of Sci-Fi and Western elements to it, as well as some comedy. The short run of only 14 episodes also means that if you don't like it then you didn't waste much time. I was hooked after the first 4 or 5 minutes of the first episode. But if you don't want to do that, then I could suggest Rome. It's uncensored and on a premium channel, can't remember which one. I am also not a fan of crime-dramas or medical shows, but I did enjoy Veronica Mars a lot. It's a crime show kind of, I've never watched a CSI or anything like that though so I don't know how similar it is. You've already mentioned some of my other favourites: Lost (probably should wait until the end if you don't mind waiting 3 years), Weeds should be coming back at some point, Dead Like Me I think is over but the movie is coming out sometime (supposed to be over the last summer). The only other real favourite I can think of is Battlestar Galactica, can't remember if you've mentioned seeing that before or not. However if you like watching things all in a row it might be better to wait ~4-5 months when the show finishes.

2009 for the US, 2011 for Canada. Oh and I forgot to ask Carlo, have you started watching Battlestar Galactica yet? I seem to remember you mentioning that you felt like watching it.

Sadly only 720p, I wouldn't recommend getting a 32" 720p HDTV for a monitor. It's a little too big for a monitor (and a little low resolution wise) and not quite as big as I would like for a TV, but it was affordable ($450 for 6ms seek/1200:1 contrast ratio, great deal at the time).
  23. indy500fan replied to Faux's topic in Off-Topic
Only if you get your TV over the air via antenna. If you have cable or satellite, you don't need anything. You can get a $40 off coupon, and every place is selling the converter boxes for $60 so it only comes out to be $20. I already watch TV on my computer screen because of the Internet and because I am using my 32" HDTV as my monitor :D .
  24. Thanks to Serenity being made, there's no chance for the series to come back :( Did you know Joss contemplated adding dinosaurs into this show? That would have multiplied the awesomeness even more. That's the main reason why Serenity never made it very high on my list of favourite movies. I love it, but there were just too many bad feelings about it. It signified that the series was over, it hardly mentioned the Blue Sun Corp as being the bad guys, it showed a badass River which was awesome, but would have been cooler if it happened at the pace the series was going. This was probably the first time watching that I didn't let any of that get to me and just enjoyed it, and I enjoyed the [bleep] out of it. Done the Impossible: The Fans' Tale of 'Firefly' and 'Serenity' - I was introduced to the 'verse with the DVD of Serenity, so most of the stuff discussed in this documentary was before my time. I still get the feelings they all have though. While a Big Damn Trilogy is pretty much out of the question now, I still have hope for something. The comics are ok but just not as good as the show or movie.
  25. "Firefly" and Serenity - Sixth or seventh time watching it, and it's still easily my favourite TV show. Feels so good while watching it, and I get so mad once it's all over. WHY THE [bleep] DID THEY CANCEL THIS???
