The only people who are affected are the people who use antennas, like you thought. If you have satellite and get your local channels through that then you will be fine. However if you have satellite but still get your local channels through antenna then you will need the converter box.
  2. As far as I know police here in the US aren't allowed to strike. Probably not many government workers are, my dad is a USPS worker and he and all the other mailmen had a part in their contract about not striking.
  3. A wage cap on CEOs wouldn't be that big of deal, most of their money comes from their bonuses and increased value of their stock. I know a few CEOs just get a $1 a year salary, and are still billionaires.
  4. Why does that bother you so much? Sorry, I can't understand why it does. As for the story, it sounds pretty horrible. Imagine being in the middle of that scene. I'd be scared as hell. There's a lot of sensationalism the media uses but I agree, I don't see anything wrong with this particular wording. Just a different way of saying "many".
  5. I have no problems with a store choosing to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas in order make not people feel left out. I also have no problem with a store choosing to say Merry Christmas even if someone gets offended because of it. You don't own the damn store, let them say what they want. Anyways I am agnostic but I still celebrate Christmas as a consumer, and then only because of family obligations.
  6. Yep Seth Green is awesome. Breckin Meyer was the other guy in the store, currently he is working on Robot Chicken and that's all I know of his off the top of my head. Hulu videos do have pretty crappy audio unless you watch the 480p version.
  7. Meh, I've come to accept the half-[wagon] pseudoscience (remember Charlie?) but the fact that eclipses aren't a rare occurence is really bugging me too. The only thing so far that fits into the eclipse thing is Daphne, because it seems like she's experienced losing her powers before from what she said. The jungle place was Haiti, by the way. They were looking for the Haitian. Normally the fake science stuff just annoys me some, but this eclipse thing really, really annoyed me. I thought I heard them mention a country South America, but Haiti makes more sense, since his brother would probably try and take over his home country first.
  8. The eclipse thing is really pissing me off. How are they going to explain this since a full eclipse happens more than once a year? Then they had Kansas, California and some jungle place all having a full eclipse which is impossible.
  9. del Toro said that it was left open to interpretation, you can believe that it was all real or you can believe that it was just the fantasy world in her mind. He said he likes to think that it is real, and since he created it that would probably be the "correct" answer if you had to choose one. EDIT: Oh and I want to mention I love this movie, haven't made a top movie list in a while but I think this would make top 10. EDIT2: Also don't know if I mentioned this here or not but I met Doug Jones at a comic convention a month or two ago. Extremely nice guy. Almost too nice, he gave me a hug just for talking to him for a few minutes. His presentation was pretty interesting too, told a good story about working with Dennis Quaid on a movie earlier in his career. Plus he's a Hoosier so that automatically makes him awesome :) . For those completely lost I didn't mention all this out of the blue, Doug Jones plays the Faun and the Pale Man in this movie. EDIT3: Here's a pic with Doug Jones and a friend (I'm on the right side of the pic with the stupid smile).
  10. I'm with justin on this one. Why the hell does every website need a friend system on it?
  11. Even if it's a little part it's still a spoiler. I've been getting much more enjoyment out of TV as a whole since I stopped watching previews a year ago.
  12. I loved Le Samouraï but it's not for everyone, it's a little slow. [url\http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043456/]The Day the Earth Stood Still[/url] - I watched this and a few other movies last night, and while this is the second time watching it and all the others were first time I still enjoyed this one the most. It will be interesting to see what the remake is going to be about since this one was mostly about proclaiming peace during the start of the cold war business.
  13. Ah, I don't watch previews or anything like that, they usually spoil too much.
  14. The eclipse happens at the end of the first episode, after all the current gen people have shown they have abilities for a while. Claire surviving as a baby, then filming falls for weeks before the eclipse. Nathan flying out of the car wreck that crippled his wife a year or two before the eclipse, Peter also flew with him in the first episode before the eclipse if I recall. Isaac was drawing the future for a while before the eclipse. Could go on for every character. I don't know where the eclipse giving/taking powers theory came up, all that was mentioned in the episode was that it seemed like there was a correlation there. We know correlation doesn't equal causation, but if it didn't mean anything it probably wouldn't have been mentioned. Also keep in mind a total solar eclipse happens twice per year. EDIT: For those interested, we can assume that since the show started in 2006 the total solar eclipse that they saw was in 2006, but no where they showed in the show would have actually seen a total solar eclipse: Wouldn't have seen it in New York or Texas.
  15. I liked it. Feels like a broken record now but I'll throw in I liked CR a little better. For me that was mostly because of Eva Green though. Bond is also feeling more like Bourne now, but I have no problem with that since I loved those movies too. Since I pretty much just repeated what others have already said I'll throw in one more thing, I like that Bond movies are having continuity now.

I guess those of us who don't have avatars have to go naked.

I generally don't talk much at all in group settings, even with my best of friends. That is until the alcohol comes, then I talk a bit too much (I've never actually seen a Star Wars themed porno but apparently I think they are the best thing ever).

WTF is up with glass eating stuff? I don't check OT for a few days and crazy stuff starts to happen. Anyways I just popped in here to say that I just got back from a gun convention, and the people there are hilarious.
  19. Yeah the age thing is probably why I hadn't heard of it. I don't know anybody under 20 anymore, except for my niece and nephews who are all under 6.
  20. Claire survived as a baby in the house fire because of her regeneration. Also she and John Connor were filming it for days before the eclipse happened.
  21. I loved that episode too, maybe because I was kind of in their position about a few months ago. I had never heard of High School Musical before, and apparently it was a really big thing. I only found out about it because of that one chick putting pictures of herself on the Internet. So actually it was whenever that happened, can't remember exactly.
  22. True it probably wasn't the best example for that reason. BSG probably would have been a better example, I didn't mention it because even though the filler episodes are good the actually story line episodes are great, some surpassing any single episode in Firefly.
  23. People expect instant gratification from the storylines rather than character and plot development. I'll agree that is one of the main reasons a lot of people gave up on Lost. I have no problem with filler episodes as long as they are good. Hell my favourite series consists of mostly filler episodes (Firefly). They barely advance the Blue Sun Corp/River Tam plot at all the entire series.
  24. Jeph Loeb was one of those, and if he does anything on Heroes like he does on the current Hulk series then he needed to be fired. Hulk is easily my least favourite comic I get right now, just keep getting it in the hopes it gets better someday.
