  1. Oh wonderful. It would have been nice if they just surprised us with this, but now prices on pretty much everything are going to be ridiculous before and during the event...
  2. I agree, and on top of that, make it optional. Like having HD. But you don't have a choice really, like the graphics. Unless you WANT to be streaming megabytes of data for every song. Jagex wants as many people able to access their game as possible and I think that's commendable. Even if you made it optional, I'm sure it's just as complicated as making HD was - would you really want them to spend their time making slightly improved audio at the expense of other updates? YES, YES, YES. Improved audio for RuneScape is something I've wanted for a LONG time. On the level of want for the return of Zaros, and Priffdinnas. Seriously the sound effects sound downright stupid and cheesy when put with the improved HD graphics. I'd love such an update a ton more than HD, and that's saying something, because HD was a godsend for garnering a bit of respect for RuneScape.
  3. It's just a new update. You'll forget about it soon enough. Honestly a long time ago I got 65 slayer specifically for dust devils so I could get a chain, and guess what, I killed thousands and thousands of them with nothing. Yet today I got one from a dusty task when I was neither looking for one nor expecting one at all. That's about how all of my luck has been: when I'm searching for something, I never seem to find it. Luck for me seems to come only when I least expect it.
  4. I'm hoping because of this merchants will GTFO of the SoL market and move on to these items. I'm sick of merchants using useful items as mint cakes, hopefully this new useless item will serve as a better replacement to their worthless mints.
  5. Funny, a lot of atheists stand behind the principles of science like it is doctrine. Yet when it comes to disproving God all you need is a bit of sense? Sense could lead one either way, it all depends on one's point of view / outlook on life. And of course I wouldn't take my own life unless I could be absolutely certain that there was no God and thus life had no purpose. I'm not totally certain about anything, really. But I just cannot accept that life has no purpose. Not unless I am given concrete, irrefutable evidence.
  6. Notice the lamps in my inventory. All I gotta say is good thing I was only 50k exp from 85 herb when I decided to finish my Ardy elite diary... :o
  7. Meh I've heard all those arguments before, and I'm just not going to buy it no matter what logic any athiest presents. I'm starting to think that athiests just don't understand the root reason a lot of people cling to their faith. This may come as a bit of a shock to some people, but really it shouldn't: theoretically, if it were possible to disprove the existence of God beyond a shadow of a doubt, and I was presented with this evidence and forced to accept that truth... ...I'd shoot myself. Really, what's the point of living if everything we do is ultimately in vain? Experiencing as much pleasure as we can before we die, in whatever form that may take? And how much of that will we remember when we no longer exist? How many of the material possessions will we keep after we finally die? Nothing. Without some kind of hope for eternal life in some form or another, I find all of the suffering and woe of this life completely needless. Perhaps if there is no God, that is in fact the function religion serves for mankind: a morale boost, more than an explanation for the unknown. I'd hazard a guess that there are a lot of people who think like I do about life.
  8. When I saw the update I felt like throwing up. Completely lame and uninteresting. Then I saw the new teaser, which incidentally is more actual content than the actual update. That made it worth it, quest or no. And of course that cape is fake on account of the fact that it is COMPLETELY OP.
  9. I don't really have a problem with it. Flipper don't do anything more than what buyers and sellers could be doing. If the seller wanted a better price for his item, he could probably get it by putting it at mid instead of min. It might take a while, but as they say good things come to those who wait. Same deal for buyers: it wouldn't really be that hard to get an item at near mid provided they are willing to be a bit patient. If you're a flipper, you're basically doing what these people could have been doing but decided not to, and as such you reap the benefits. Sure it may not be providing a service, but it's no less a legitimate source of income than PKing. The only people I have a problem with in this economy are manipulators. Btw, my method of training herblore is essentially flipping. I put in offers for herbs at quite a bit lower than the "instant buy" price, clean them, and sell them for a bit higher than the "insant sell" price, it does take time, and I don't make THAT much money, but of course what I'm after is the exp, and so far I've gotten 2m exp for it, which at today's prices is worth ~50m.
  10. No, I wouldn't. One of the main reasons I play RuneScape and not WoW or other MMO's is because of their arbitrarily restrictive class systems. Realy, what would stop me from being an archer AND a fighter in real life? Nothing, so why the hell should MMO's have such stupid restrictions? If you're going to have classes in a game at all, I would want it to be like Elder Scrolls: Oblivion where classes are merely a starting point. In that game your main talents simply start at a higher level and train faster than the other talents. But you're not restricted from training the others at all, it just takes longer.
  11. Haha well I found out there was a medium mode with more saves. So I played the game a bit more. Actually got past three bosses, including Tyson, Birdo, and Dracula. God that screen with the moving spikes in the SG&G zone almost drove me insane...
  12. Jad won't hit constant 90s unless you completely fail at prayer switching. Nomad's attacks are unblockable. Really though, Jad and Nomad are two completely different brands of challenge so I don't think that they're even comparable. Personally I found Nomad a lot harder, but someone else might find Jad harder because they have the reflexes of a snail (no offense :-P).
  13. Then multiply that by 13 million accounts. = around 16 gigs. Big freaking deal, my PC's HD has 1 TB on it  They already have to keep track of which songs each player has unlocked anyway, and there are 632 of them.
  14. +1, content you expose your children to should always be appropriate for their age and maturity. It CAN have some harmful effects on them if they're not ready for it. Still, even children have a grasp on what is acceptable in video games and what is not in real life. As for video games turning teens and adults into killers, well that's absolute crap. Unless the games you enjoy are like, REALLY, REALLY dark. And you're already a bit messed up to begin with.
  15. This looks... really boring. A summoning minigame that you can do... once a week? Lame, really lame. When they said there was going to be a summoning update, I didn't expect this.
  16. Cape #3 using my new full slayer helm. Jad got creamed. [hide][/hide]
  17. You went the wrong way. =D> No invisible platforms if you take the right path. Ah I see. I found it now. K, well after about 4 dozen attempts on that part while smithing gold on RS I think I'll just call it quits. I don't feel like loosing my sanity today.
  18. DL'd it, managed to get past the part that guy was ranting about in the first vid in about... 3 minutes. Then I quit after I saw the next part involved invisible platforms. That's just cheap. You can take any relatively easy game and make it impossible if you throw in invisible platforms. Case in point: Super Mario World. Get a rom for it (preferrably legally :P), and get ZSNES. Load up the game. Enter the first level. Push "1" on your keyboard to turn off the BG1 layer. There you go. One impossible game.
  19. I completely agree with this. People ask for "elite" content, and when it comes out, they can't take advantage of it, and they whine to get it so they can. Can't use elite content? Guess you aren't elite enough. The fallacy here is believing that the same people who asked for "elite" content are the same people now complaining. That's if you view a fire cape as "elite" - many posts claim its not elite at all - it's easy, as all you have to do is switch prayers. "Elite" or not: I guess it depends on what pseudo arguments are being made at the time. In reality, this is boiling down to whose daddy can buy them the best Internet connection. If Jagex had made the SoL an added reward for Fight Caves only, no one would be complaining. It's the repurposing of old stand alone minigames as new skill content that is so annoying. Connecting different parts of the game (parts that are widely unused and ignored) to skills is bad? Well it CAN be bad. If the old piece of content is underused because it never served a useful purpose in the first place. I find it kind of stupid to force people to do one thing to accomplish another thing entirely. Why not make the original content useful instead? In this case though fire cape is a useful item in its own right, being the only cape with a str bonus, and downright awesome looking. And besides killing TzTok-Jad has everything to do with the theme of Slayer: the ability to kill some of RuneScape's most dangerous creatures. In fact they even made the fight cave potentially easier by having Kuradal offer to change your assignment to fight cave, allowing the use of the slayer helm (and now, the full slayer helm with its +15% range goodness). I'd like to see this theme of boss assignments continue. I'd love a level 90+ slayer guild with some grandmaster that assigns random bosses. That would revive some of the more under-visited bosses of runescape in keeping with the theme of Slayer: to kill things for glory, not just cash.
  20. Hey I just got a good idea for an alternative to fire cape: an enchanted fire tiara. 2 Fire runes = 1 charge. Every time a wyrm attacks you, regardless if they hit, it drains 1. And the best part is... you can't use your precious slayer helm :twss: Possibly this item could also be used to be protected from cold weather ticks...
  21. What? Wooden shield? Where did that notion come from? Anyway I'm almost positive you don't need it. I've had two tasks there myself (NO HEX FML) and I used whip + defender. Might want some super anti though.
  22. But SoL is also a lot more common than claws. I haven't gotten a pair of claws in 1000+ kills, which is about 30+ hours.
  23. Den, it is possible to defend again jad when he is offscreen. Keep your sound on so you can hear his attacks. Use protect from range, but if you hear a sound like a retribution prayer going off, immediately switch to protect from mage, and after the hit switch back to protect from range as the buildup for that attack is unfortunately silent (wouldn't think stomping would be silent...). As for the healers, all I can say is keep calm, and lure one at a time, after each jad attack. Half the battle with Jad is just realizing that he's easy as dirt and not getting so nervous, because shaky hand increase your chances of making a mistake exponentially.
