Most people use the pencil tool to do linework simply because it is the most free form tool in the whole set of tools... Its hard to get straight lines when you first start, but eventually drawing with a mouse becomes second nature...

jabraulter and random are back... Ahh things are getting good again in the gallery... :P What ter said about the highlights is some good advice... your forehead could use a bit of work... I don't like the bright line on the left side of his face... I would just go ahead and take that off and let the ear blend into the dark... overall looks pretty awsome... I did a super quick edit to her... (hope you don't mind) I used more pinkish colors for skin.. Dropped in bewbs and a bit of shadow (left out highlight) Gave the skin darker shadeing... (and replaced alot of yours) Changed the hair a bit... Overall I think mine looks flameing crappy... I was just trying to show some of the quick things that needed ot be worked on

weeelll imo I gave up one pixel art (in its purest form) Along time ago... I define myself as a windows painter... I now try and use as many colors as possible to achieve the result I want... I feel that many people try to dither when they could easily use a nice and simple medium color. They end up putting 2x the amount of work into a piece that they need to, and sometimes (with beginers) they get really frustraited when thier dithering doesn't look good. Where as selecting a meduim color you can just draw a straight line through there... Urrg... that got a bit long winded :wall:

Well... if i am doing stone walls then i try and outline with a dark color and then move inwards getting lighter... For stone you need two lighter strips at the top and rh or lh of the stone with other darker lines at the bottom... Its pretty difficult to explain.. I'll post a pic as soon as i finish my new pixel...

Well I don't agree on the arm thing... :? if i placed those pixels down the side it would just be off her hip the normal length for a human arm... The hat I was trying to make it look as if it was pushed back on her head... It didn't really work... :cry: Here, I edited a bit (still doesn't look all that great) This is more how it would have looked if i had drawn the hat first... since I was working off of a template I just went and tried to draw it fitting in... Something that hasn't ever worked

Yeah... I haven't been able to really improve on my pixels lately because i haven't gotten more then 3 replys on any of my threads (on two forums) Anyone know a place where people still rip work to shreds to MAKE you improve?? Oo... yeah that was how it was... They were like the gods of the forum... They were good and did thier best job, and because they always did thier best job and put all thier talent and skill into a sig they expected the same from you... When you didn't put all your effort into it then BAM!... There goes the harsh C\C... Take a lazy bg and BAM!.... Ect ect... They wanted you to be as good as they were and if you didn't at least try then you weren't even worth thier time... :cry: I miss those days.... I'm not motivated to pixeling as much anymore... I would suggest a three color tear with a blue outline white center and a brighter (yellow\blue?) in the very center to show a highlight... Im not sure if that would work though :?

QFT! I don't think I would have been near as close to where I am now in art if it were not for a lot of critism, a lot of it which was very harsh. I didn't like it back then but it did motivate me to try and get better to "prove them wrong". As far as C/C goes there are a few posters lurking around that are giving some great C/C for pixels. However, sadly, I feel that the quality of C/C for some abstracts isn't "as" good. [minus Cad's critism perhaps]. Mostly because I haven't gotten any in a while. :( Meh ill say the same about harsh C\C... when i started Gs simply tore my work to shreds again and again... Comments like "you know pants aren't metal poles, they have folds!" Got thrown at me time and time again :ohnoes: Still, i wish there were people who would still do that... :(

tears? could use a bit of a touch up they seem to be a bit too dark now... overall its pretty good if that was the shape and character you were looking for... nice highlights

Yeah Dk used a better example of a cartoon sig... yours kinda sucks... also you shouldn't post work done on another forum (rsc) on this forum... unless your can proove they have given your permission... Doesn't matter if it is still watermarked\sampled you need thier permission
