    Gloves

i am pretty sure that you can only have one kind of gauntlet at any one time. It costs 25k to repair each time not 20k too. Cooking gaunts effectively boost your fishing by about 10 levels, chaos gaunts allow you to do more damage with chaos spells I think, and gold smithing gaunts give possibly the best smithing xp in the game (although getting the gold ore isnt that easy)
  2. Well sharks are useful for quick hp restoring and are a lot easier to make in bulk than the tuna potatoes. When going to the kalphite queen, I'm not going to get a basket of strawberries out, and I dont have the patience to make masses amounts of tuna/sweetcorn. Sharks are only the way to go. One of the other reasons is that the cooking cape is one of the easiest capes to buy, so as a consequence, people are trying to get fast xp by cooking sharks, hence a huge amount of them on the market, and prices are dropping to encourage people to buy them.
  3. well i have approx 4.2 mil att, def, str and 3.4 mil ranged. So using your formula my hp should be 5.32 mil, whereas it is actually 5.43 mil. This is pretty close I reckon, with the deficit being made up by quite a bit of maging (barrows+steel dragons). I rarely PC (as I use slayer for training), I have only used PC for getting a couple of prayer levels.
  4. Well I'm going to do this tonight before I do the new quest. If it does get nerfed for the worse, I want to make sure that I get a decent amount of seeds first :) And it is a bit more incentive to have another go at getting the lumberjack top! Maybe I will get lucky this time...
  5. This looks like a cracking update. Watermelon seeds from temple trekking - superb! I mean who ever really used to plant wildblood seeds? Might have another go at trying to get that elusive lumberjack top now... I wish that they changed the probabilities of getting it though. Quest looks pretty good too, I'll have to try it later (primarily because I want to keep my quest cape!).
  6. Well what i do is collect cactus spines every time that i glory tele to al kharid, or duel arena tele. This way, they add up in your bank for when you need them. Also, dont replant your cactus seeds - the spines regrow themselves.
  7. well my vote goes to priest in peril. I always wanted access to morytania and it was one of the first things that i did after getting members. Although lost city does give access to dragon weapons, i was put off doing it for a while due to the requirements of having to kill a high level monster with no weapons...! ( I didnt know any better)
  8. I probably put about 4mil into miscellania and waited about a month, just keeping myself near 100% for most of the time. I took about 1.5il back out again (when i had no money) so, that is the result of about 2.5mils worth of goods. I always prefer putting more than required into miscellania as it means that the max amount per day is used (75000). That was on 100% maples and 50% herbs by the way. Manoman, I didn't know that it was particularly cool to get all stats 70+, I just think that it is a solid achievement. The 'cool' things to do at the moment are level 3 skillers (not really my thing). How do your stats compare? And Hazezor, I know exactly what you mean about slayer holding you down. It is just phenomenally slow xp (about as bad as rc) - but still a lot of fun and by far my favourite skill. Oh and I forgot to put in my thread: Tears of Guthix FTW! thanks for all other comments
  9. Cheers for the replies. To answer a couple of questions: 41 rune helms all from monster drops :) Im going for 100 drops and then i am going to alch them all for a sweet couple of mil! Getting to 85 slayer does mean plenty of decent rune drops and clue scrolls (hence the random items in my bank) With regards to getting 90+ stats you are right, but I am a 'guthix skiller' i.e. i like to keep my highest and lowest within 20 levels of each other, although i think that my combat stats might change that by the time that i get to 85 slayer. And my miscellania reward was from about 30 days worth of time after i put 4 mil in. My lowest percentage was about 95% ish. Generally kept it at 99-100% though.
  10. Hey all, any comments/rates/suggestions etc all appreciated. That's my 70+ stats and total level. Bank below: and i thought that I would just post my best miscellania rewards to date. I'm going for 85 slayer at the moment. If anyone has any suggestions as to what to do with my stats, then feel free to comment. Btw, i have almost no money after spending a fortune on construction, guthans and herblore! Hate/rate. Cheers! RT
  11. Unfortunately, I am not sure that I am the right person to help as it has been ages since i last did it. If I remember correctly, the log trap is in the room with all the square platforms, which you have to jump across. As I recall, you are coming into that room from the east, you have to jump all the way west, hit some sort of switch on the floor (dont know whenther it is search floor or what), and then you can jump past the log trap. the 'search floor' might relate to a different trap in the room...
  12. its been a while since i did it, but there is a switch that you have to hit that stops the log from hitting you. If you hit this switch, then you should never be hit by the log. It runs on a timer of about 30 seconds-1 min, which is plenty of time to get pst the trap.
  13. I reckon that you should be using duradel. since i got to about 104 combat I have used him all the time and it has got me to almost 82 slayer (from 78 since i started using him). the advantages of duradel are that he gives long assignments, and generally pretty decent ones too, so you can stay on task for longer once you have found a good task to do. The disadvantages are that he doesnt assign trolls or dagannoths, which are superb xp, particularly if you like cannoning your way through tasks for faster xp. I'd recommend duradel, but its up to you.
  14. Well I got a drill demon recently, but I also got one about a month back, so I reckon that the frequency has just increased of him turning up rather than not at all. Mind you, in the 2+ years that I have been playing, I have only ever had 2 mimes and irritatingly still dont have all the emotes. Some people seem to get them all the time, but alas not I. I keep getting the 'Odd one Out' quiz show. Grr.
  15. heh, good effort on your levels and good luck on your goals. I just find it really interesting that you wanted to get 100 rune full helms from monster drops as that is exactly what I am doing too lol. I currently have 40 (all obtained on slayer assignments). Getting to 85 slayer is a real killer by the way, the amount of xp per hour is pretty terrible and if duradel is being mean then you can keep getting many lame assignments in a row. It is good for levelling combat though as you said in your thread.
  16. well done - i never take my qp cape off, although you will have to put up with people asking for the emotes all the time :( Trustme, it does get tiresome after a while. The only problem that you have is that you have to do all the new quests whenever they come out as the cape has a nasty habit of unequipping itself for new updates! Also, try doing every new quest without a guide - it is much more rewarding, although it does take a bit longer running backwards and forwards all the time.
  17. meh, nothing great there. I consider myself an average+ skiller (obv with combat levels) and you only have 3 skills that are higher than me, two of which are buyable and relatively quick to level. The 29 slayer is pretty good i guess, but the combination of many unwanted combat levels and 8 non-combat skills less than 50 doesnt make this a great account. If you put things like 'one of the best skillers in rs', expect to be flamed. zzzamorak is head and shoulders above the rest. I'll rate this as 5/10, keep up the skilling though. Try to get all skills 50+, then it will look a lot better.
  18. my limited kq experience with 2 other friends is that we just keep the drop whoever gets it. As we more or less do the same damage, then the drops are split relatively equally. Obviously, if we get a big drop like a dragon item (not happened yet) then one of us will sell it and split the cash. Some sort of teamspeak is also pretty handy too.
  19. I have also spent about 10 hours on this minigame, having got about 10 boots, 7 hats, 2 legs and no top. From what I understand from RSOF, they changed the drop rate of the boots to 50% after the first day that it was released (prior to this all the stuff was relatively easy to get), with the other items making up the other 50%. From the general drop lists that I saw, it seems that the hats make up about 35%, legs 10% and tops 5% (these are just guesses by the way). The fastest way to get an event is to use route 1 and skip every fight that you come across, but even doing it that way gets you one of the events about every 10-15 mins, longer if you get a lot of the 'birth of a ghast' or 'bog' ( i get this all the time) random events. I guess what really bugs me is that every time that you get a broken bridge event, there is a 50% chance that there will be trees there and no lumberjack kit. It's like Jagex are taunting us....
  20. Well I head over to kelgadrim once in a while. There are the arzanian mines with 150+ gold ores, the construction dude to buy gold leaf, marble etc., and there is the awesome blast furnace for coal efficient smithing. I like having places like that a bit quieter - it makes a change from ther hustle and bustle of the major cities. Increasing the cap on each server would only crowd w2 even more. Can you imagine ~4k people all standing in fally park? The lag would be incredible... and for the person who said that there was noone around Uzer - well if there was something to do there apart from the quest, then I am sure that there would be more people around in those places...
  21. Thats pretty incredible drops. I have terrible luck compared to you. I'm 81 slayer and get rubbish drops from almost all monsters. I had to kill 500+ cave horrors to get a mask, and I wasnt even on task :( What I will say is that selling mystic armour is not easy. Most people dont want to pay the high prices of the mystic, so good luck with that. I just alch mine now as I hate going on forums trying to sell stuff (or even worse, world 2). Maybe you will get to 85 slayer before I do... I did seem to notice that you have an incredible amount of herbs in your bank. Are some identified and some unids? you would do better to get them all id'd and save yourself some more bank space. Also, leave your farming gear with the leprechaun to save more bank space. 6/10 on bank - nothing amazing, not too bad either Good luck!
  22. I can see both sides of this argument, trembake is right when he says that people just used to camp out at the bandits or axe hut for quick xp before. The influx of high levels is one of my strongest motivations to get high slayer. To me this is a great skill as it shows that you have experience killing monsters and experimenting with different combat styles (range, mage). However, I do feel that is pretty ridiculous that you can get high mage and range having never fired a bow. Clearly, though, the amound of xp that you would get would be tiny as it is your level squared/6, so a level 1 ranger would get 1/6xp in ranged! PC only really starts to make a big difference to training when you get a skill to ~70+ as the xp is pretty fast then. To give some numbers, comparing a 40 str and an 80 str. Every hundred points, the 40 gets 29.3k xp, the level 80 gets 117k xp. Bear in mind that it will take the best part of 2 hours to get 100 points, so you are comparing about 15k xp an hour to 60k xp an hour for the different levels. Bearing in mind that the 40 will probably take longer to finish games, or may not get the required zeal, this is really pretty slow xp (maybe 3-4 hours for 100 points). Therefore, it is really not good xp for levelling low skills. I am amazed that so many level 40's still go to PC - the xp is really terrible!
  23. yeah i think that the people coming onto the lands are up for a bit of adventuring and vampire slaying so thats why they do it that way. I actually think that this is a nice addition to the minigame - it certainly got me playing it (even if it was just for the lumberjack gear). TBH, though, this minigame is still not much fun, particularly getting the staff of ivandis, guthix balance potions etc. I rate it at about a 4/10. Still got lumberjack shirt and boots to go... :(
  24. Well you do make an interesting few points there. The problem that I have is that Jagex have to encourage people to try out their new minigames once in a while. Too many people will look at them and assess a) rewards, B) financial gain c) xp gain. If these are not sufficient, then people simply wont do the minigame. Now this is where untradeable items come in. Giving a unique reward which people have to earn if they want to wield it is a good incentive for people to play the minigame. The counter-argument of course is that more people will play it if the reward is tradeable, thus giving people the opportunity to earn decent money. However, if the item is too easy to get, then everyone will get it, then it becomes a worthless money-maker, and still no-one does the minigame. rewards such as the lumberjack kit should stay untradeable along with the fighter torso as it represents a considerable effort to get. Compare this with the gloves of silence (or spottier cape). These are very easy to get, either from getting the required hunter level or just buying them from other players, and as such, dont really represent an effort to acquire. you are absolutely right here. Of course if the gear was tradeable, then I would just pick up a set on the market and save myself a couple of hours. But I reckon that Jagex feel that they have put a lot of time and effort into their minigames and want to see people playing them, not leaving them all barren, given the investment in time and resources they have put in. Now, I admit that when I saw the Temple Trekking update (never bothered with the first one either) I had no interest in doing it. However, I might actually find that I enjoy doing it, or that the other rewards (not lumberjack gear) are pretty decent and offer a nice variation in gameplay. How else am I ever going to find any of this out unless I actually give it a try, and I have incentive because there are decent rewards on offer. This is why intermediate-long minigames such as BA and Temple Trekking should have untradeable items as a reward. Quest items and skill-made items should be tradeable, and like you say, wieldable only once the person you have traded/lost to has completed the quest/is a certain skill level. Just to add to the comment Huta made, I do the mage training area. I do often see people around there, the main reason being that infinity is worth several million a piece, and it is not a bad way of training your magic skills either. Because infinity is so hard to get(10+ hours per piece?), if it wasnt tradeable, then nobody would ever do the minigame as each piece takes far too long to acquire. I think that the lumberjack gear is slightly different as it is much easier to get (in terms of the length of time taken). Interesting analogy though.
  25. I agree particularly with respect to the fighter torso on this one. BA is a minigame that is quite a lot of fun, but after spending hours trying to get the fighter torso, you have earned precicely zero xp, and people would feel that doing something else is much more preferable (i.e. they can see a tangible improvement in their character after doing a minigame/skill). The fact that you cant even earn money from this minigame makes it pretty dire too, I think that the granite plate is an exception to this. Hence, making the torso tradeable is a pretty good idea and makes it worthwhile getting. In this case you could argue that you cant wear/wield it until you have defeated the queen at least once. However, I think that I have to disagree in general with your thoughts though. Some things shouldnt just be available to the rich. Being able to wear a non-tradeable earnable item is a status symbol (like a chompy hat). Similarly, some things that give direct skilling benefits such as the lumberjack gear imo should be also be earned (I'm thinking of doing the ramble myself just to earn this gear - I wouldnt go near it otherwise). For weapons and armour that are likely to be taken into the wildy should all be treadeable as there has to be some risk vs reward for all parties involved (skillcapes excepted). Generally I think that the balance is pretty good between tradeable and non-tradeable items. People make a huge fuss over the torso, but hardly anyone wears it (esp in wildy) as the defence bonuses are pretty lame, and dont really offset the +4 str that it gives you. There is in fact a viable 'wildy inv' consisting of boots of lightness, penance gloves, skillcape, skillcape hood, fighter torso, barrows gloves, camo/mime/lumberjack trousers. I can't think of anything untradeable in the necklace or ring slot though. (maybe a quest item like glarials amulet and ring of charos). Imagine the pker killing you just to get bones lol!
