  1. Btw, in the credits list, it's "Culinaromancer" Culinary refers to the art of cooking. :P
  2. Ranging armor made from white dragonhide already exists. \
  3. I love Beowulf :D . But isn't the Epic of Gilgamesh the oldest Epic Poem? Beowulf is the oldest ENGLISH work of literature, and possibly European Epic, not sure on the last one. Yeah, Gilgamesh is the oldest epic. Beowulf is the oldest epic in English. (Not in English you can understand, but still English...) Every time I see the name "Gilgamesh", I think a crazy swordsman with six arms in a red hood killing people for their swords. >.<
  4. I don't think it's even that complicated. All Jagex has to do is dump a few items in. Some elemental runes at 15 ea. Maybe some slightly cheaper rune armor. It's not like a store, where the player can KEEP buying them from, and the money still leaves the game. It would be easy for Jagex to put money in or take money out.
  5. First: For whoever said there are infinite carbon atoms being produced, that is not true. If you want to get technical, we HAVE found what we think is the boundary of the universe. Therefore, the amount of matter we have is limited. Due to the law of conservation of matter, we can only make so much carbon even with fusion. Second: There are plenty of people who throw away 300-600m. If they have 4-5B in items there really isn't all that much left for them to buy. Why not throw away a few hundred million so that you can have done something VERY few players have done? Also you do end up with a nice hat after that you can actually wear. And finally, again, for whoever claimed because crackers are limited therefore party hats are, that's not enough. An item HAS to be limited itself. As in, the source is GONE, and it can no longer be made. Whether or not the source is discontinued is irrelevant. There's only so much gold in the world. That doesn't make golden rings discontinued. Golden rings can still be made as long as we don't run out of gold.
  6. For those who don't understand this, items do NOT appear in order from most valuable to least. The item that has the highest in-game value overall appears on top. The rest is randomly placed underneath. So since law runes are like 100+ ea, and there are 650 of them, they're treated as 65,000. That's a pretty darn high store value, making it more than the Guthix Helm and Rune Trimmed. Then the rest is randomly piled underneath. Good PK. :D
  7. Wrong. Opening the cracker triggers code to randomly CREATE a hat and a random item, as shown by the fact that people have opened a cracker, been rolled back, and opened it again, receiving different items each time. If an item is discontinued because the items used to create it are limited, then pretty much EVERYTHING in real life is discontinued. There's only so much matter in the universe that can be made into iPods, but we can still make iPods, meaning they aren't discontinued. Again, only when the item itself can no longer be made, or is no longer made, is it actually discontinued.
  8. I thought the person who cracked it got the Party Hat and the other person got the random item, I could be wrong. No. It randomly decides who "wins" the party hat and the other person gets an item. At the time of the release, sometimes the item was worth far more than the party hat. :-w
  9. I am not a player mod myself, although I was informed by someone who did have access to the player mod center recently. It clearly states that people should not be reported for saying the URL or naming a clan website or a fansite. I know this is a direct contradiction to what it says on the main site, but from that we can probably surmise that Jagex cares very little, and they realize how futile this is. Hopefully this discourages people from trying. And yes there are people still banned for fansite or clansite advertising, but that's generally because Jagex doesn't look through the appeals. Player Mods are instructed to NOT report these as offenses.
  10. That's the point. There's nothing "inside" of crackers. A real life party crackers are toys packed inside of wrappers for children to pull. Hence, if something was packaged inside, and people stopped making the crackers, the toys inside WOULD be discontinued. But in the case of Runescape, crackers don't contain anything. When pulled they randomly create 2 items, one of the six party hats, and one of a set of random items. Then each player randomly gets one. Since crackers don't CONTAIN party hats, rather, they PRODUCE party hats, as long as crackers exist, party hats are not discontinued. At least, not by definition. While it is true that crackers are limited, that does not discontinue party hats. Just like, we know the amount of crude oil in the world is limited at this time (yes I know in theory we can produce oil by killing every living thing and letting it rot for millions of years but that's pretty unfeasible), but gasoline distilled from crude oil is not discontinued. We are still producing gasoline every day from the crude oil we harvest, even though crude oil is not limited. Just because the source is limited, or no one in the right mind would want to use that specific source to produce a product doesn't make the product discontinued. Again, just because the source is discontinued doesn't mean the remaining source can not be used to continue to produce the product until it is depleted. Like the Crude Oil Gasoline. We only have so much Crude Oil left, and we're not going to see any more of it being made any time soon. However, we can still use what's left of it to continue producing Crude Oil Gasoline. That's why Gasoline isn't discontinued. It will not be "discontinued" unless all the plants stop making gasoline from crude oil or we run out of crude oil. The same applies to party hats. By definition, discontinued means that it will not or can not be produced. People STILL pop Christmas crackers on occasion to show off their wealth. Christmas crackers still exist. By definition, party hats can not be considered discontinued UNLESS Jagex decides to remove the ability to pop a cracker or no Christmas crackers remain. The latter scenario is next to impossible, since accounts still exist, banned, holding Christmas crackers, that are not deleted. They still can be appealed and the crackers used. Thus unless those accounts are deleted as well, that situation won't occur.
  11. dis̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâ÷con̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâ÷tin̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâ÷ue ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâverb (used with object) 1. to put an end to; stop; terminate: to discontinue nuclear testing. 2. to cease to take, use, subscribe to, etc.: to discontinue a newspaper. To discontinue means you can not make any more of them. Seeing as this is Runescape, christmas crackers do not CONTAIN party hats. They CREATE party hats. They aren't programmed with a set party hat inside. Therefore, the number of party hats can increase. So by the definition, he has a point, they aren't discontinued. If you want to post at least post why you think it is discontinued. What the OP is stating, and what I'm agreeing with, is that by the definition of the word "Discontinued" and by how this game works, party hats are NOT discontinued. And finally, before someone says crackers do contain party hats, they don't. As evidence: There have been multiple pictures of people stacking christmas crackers together in their bank, or in noted form. That indicates they are the same item, meaning that the party hat is selected and distributed AFTER the cracker is activated. There have been incidences of people who opened a red p hat, were rolled back, and opened a yellow. I've heard of at least 10 incidences but only one I ever saw enough evidence to be certain of.
  12. Is the Way of obtainign them created: NO Is the definint "Production gone": NO In any way are more being brought into the game, or the ways to get them getting brought in: NO Even if a few discontined crackers contiune to yeild them since they are not being produced it is Discontinued, and my spelling sucks. I have 10 packeges, 3 paxs hold guns, if one gun if opend, but no other packs with guns are being made, even if there are packs with guns in them THE GUNS ARE DISCONTINUED! Nuff Said, But that's not the same. I see your point. Christmas crackers don't CONTAIN party hats as they would in theory. Rather, activating one CREATES a party hat. So if you have only materials to make one more gun, guns aren't discontinued. You can still make more guns. Only, the pieces of it are discontinued. If these were IRL Christmas crackers, yes they would be discontinued, since those contain objects. But technically speaking, christmas crackers don't contain party hats in Runescape. They randomly generate a party hat and another item when used on another player.
  13. I don't think the nature rune price was heavily impacted by the shop price in the first place. If everyone sells natures runes 374 each, yes, people are going to have to pay 374 ea to buy them. But they always have the choice to buy them, or make them. In reality, what people are paying for is for you to do the work to create these nature runes, so that they can use them for xp. The higher people charge for the nature runes, the more people are going to make their own or run them. As a result, all those people demanding 374 ea are gonna have a hell of a time selling them. The nature market is pretty much at equilibrium, meaning that the amount of nature runes wanted at 300-350 ea is the same as the amount of nature runes being made. If 1,000,000 nature runes are made every day and placed on the market, and 1,000,000 nature runes are being sold for that price, it means that's the right price. People are willing to pay so much, and people are willing to sell their time for so much. If the people who make these 1,000,000 runes suddenly demand an extra 75 gold pieces each, a LOT fewer people are going to pay for them and would find alternative means. If there are 1,000,000 runes for sale and only a quarter are purchased, that means the other 3/4 of the runes aren't being sold, and they just effectively wasted their time. What's their response? Undercutting. Telling the buyers that they'll sell their runes for less. End result is the price falls back to where there's an equal amount of people buying and selling at that price. It is possible for nature rune price to increase, but it must be due to two reasons: 1) The major source is removed or substantially reduced. Something has to convince people they're not going to make nats for 300 each, and they stop making them. 2) A change in demand. People want XP bad enough that they are willing to pay more and more. And in order for that to happen, more money must come into the game. If you have 100 million, you'd be more likely to spend on nats for magic training than if you had 5 million. Now if EVERYONE suddenly found themselves with 5-10 times the money they had before, more are willing to pay for magic, and hence, since more people are willing to buy, the price rises to the point where again, the same amount of people are willing to buy for that price as produce for that price. Shops aren't a major source of runes. The Magic Guild and Mage Arena stores are pretty much the only shop source of nature runes. They produce maybe 3 runes per minute. 2 stores per world, about 70 worlds, and 1440 minutes per day. That's only about 600,000 nature runes per day... assuming EVERY rune is purchased the moment it hit the store, never allowing the store to max out and not sell any. A good runecrafter with 50-74 runecrafting produces 1.2k runes per hour. At 75+, you can probably produce about 1.5k due to an extra 11 per trip from giant pouch. Double crafters can produce 2.5k+ easily. There are thousands of runecrafters who spend hours crafting every day, making the runes supplied from stores seem insignificant. Also, monsters tend to drop lots of nature runes as well. The Kalphite Queen drops them in 75s, and nowadays every other world is occupied with a pair of hunters. There are tons of other monsters that drop them as well, so easily as many come from monster drops as stores every day.
  14. Mhm, +1 to that, besides if you want more HP for a boss Jagex can do something like the KQ, possibly with more forms. Or... just make a boss with uber defense. Good point. And just FYI, Yiazmat isn't hard either, just takes forever. I don't want to sit down for 3 hours to fight a boss in RS that a group of level 70s can end up killing too. :(
  15. Trading karils bow for guthans spear 3 days after barrows came out.
  16. I can't tell you where I got this from, but in the player mod center itself Jagex states that naming a fansite should not be reported. I realize Runescape's knowledge base says not to name ANY urls, but according to the player mod center, Jagex does not heed reports about fansites.
  17. Zamorak's fortress is the name of the northeastern part of the God Wars dungeon... I usually call the wilderness area the ruins of Annakarl, since that's the closest teleport.
  18. Against another player, having low defense may be effective. But in the long run, maxing them out in that order is VERY inefficient. If you ever decide not to PK and work on a decent skill total, slayer's probably going in there somewhere. Defense makes slayer a lot less painful. If you ever decide that PKing isn't profitable enough (which is usually the case), and try hunting large monsters, the lack of defense and prayer will drastically shorten your trip. Staking wise, it's been proven than high attack + defense are better than high attack + strength. There's really only one small portion of the game in which having a high level limits you. And pretty much every skill is beneficial at one part of the game or another. So if anything, intelligent leveling is getting levels wherever and whenever you can, or raising them so that they make each other easier to train, as wakka once mentioned on his guide to 99s.
  19. So if broomsticks were third, you would be saying "Why don't they just pick the top three votes?" So if every one of the items had approximately the same we should release half a dozen holiday items and emotes right? Everyone voted. You didn't win. GET OVER IT. I REALIZE F2P players don't pay. But lets be fair: many of them one day will be members. Very few people come to the website, put down $5, and start their RS career as a member. Holiday updates are meant for EVERYONE to enjoy. Even the F2Pers. Seeing as it was partially MEANT for them, why shouldn't they get a say? MOST people who've disagreed with you so far have been members, myself included. Just stop being a bad sport about it.
  20. This update was made for everyone. It is one of the few updates that F2Pers get to partake in. There are more lower levels playing this game than higher levels. When the lower level players choose to have a Varrock achievement diary instead of the Relleka achievement diary, is that lower level dictatorship disappointing the tens of thousands of higher level, also paying customers? When a guaranteed update is to effect everyone, everyone should get a say. If there were more Liberals than Conservatives, even if the conservatives were paying more taxes or something, the idea of a democratic decision is that EVERYONE has their say, and their choice holds an equal weight to everyone else's choice. Thank you Look all the people who are disagreeing with me are f2p On the contrary. I've been a member for years, and I have only ONE nonmember friend, who is only a nonmember temporarily, and has only been f2p for a week. He's planning to begin members again next week I'm just saying that since this update is aimed just as much for the nonmembers as the members, it's only fair that if you want to poll it, nonmembers should have a say too.
  21. If you think it looks like void hood, you've evidently never had a void hood. They look completely different. As to the hood winning by sixty votes... so what? IT STILL WON. If two basketball teams play, and the ending score is 95-94, the first team still won, even if it's by one point. Both goods were popular. That's fine. One still had more votes than the other. So that's the one that wins. You can't say "Both basketball teams win because one was behind by only one point" can you? -.-
  22. Get over your ego! The point of the vote is to get what the majority want! Not to get what you want.... Was I talking to you? Mind your own business this is my option ffs F2p always want what they don't have, and members have plenty of it EX Hoods we have 30 of them now 31 And I'm members with five cape of achievement hoods, as well as Ahrims hood, and I still wanted the Grim Reaper's hood. And now I'm fairly satisfied with it. More people wanted hoods than broomsticks. GET OVER IT. I'm SURE if more nonmembers voted for the broomstick, you wouldn't want them not to vote anymore. It was the same after the achievement diaries. Hordes of angry level 100s with 200+ qp complaining that people with low skill total, low combat level, or low quest points shouldn't vote because they're the ones that picked Varrock over Relleka. This update was for everyone. Holidays are one of the few events that Jagex wants to celebrate with ALL their players. If they want our opinion on what we should do, since this is aimed just as much at nonmembers, they deserve to vote as much as we do. I didn't get the emote I wanted. So what? It just shows, more people wanted the zombie hand coming out of the ground. That's okay with me, I can still enjoy what we DO get. Be a good sport about it. Don't try to remove a group of voters just because they disagree with what you want. _________________________________________ Okay, back on topic. I don't think we should have a vote. Part of it is because it's more fun as a surprise. The other part of it is that people are sore losers. If they don't get what they want in a members poll, it's the fault of noobs. If they don't get what they want in a poll for everyone, they blame it on f2p players.
  23. First, whoever said ad's give 10 cents a click... it's actually like 1/10 a cent per click. Also, I don't think ANYONE should be voting on these holiday gifts. 1) They used to be more exciting. Waiting for Halloween and Christmas, not sure exactly what we're getting, but knowing for sure we DO get something. 2) People whining constantly. I'm sorry, but Jagex can't cater to EVERYONE. Jagex offered several choices, everyone chooses one, Jagex goes with the one option with the most choices. Everyone is in high spirits til they realize they didn't get what they want. Then they start demanding a choice of gift, demanding that certain people shouldn't vote, etc. Be a good sport about it... seriously. 3) This is the one that bothers me the most. NO ONE SAID THE STUPID BROOM STICK WOULD LET YOU FLY AROUND RUNESCAPE!!! Hovered means to be lifted into the air a couple feet or so. We have very little knowledge about what Jagex could have intended by that, although it would likely be something similar to marionettes, with multiple options and some funny emote. Granted, it COULD be a broomstick which you can mount and fly across Runescape, but that's highly unlikely considering all the bugs that could create, abuses, etc.
  24. in china? [bleep] that. shifts? i bet its noon in china now. pft if i was in the situation id farm gold to keep my self warm to, id be farming whenever i could. if it made me $ and was so relaxing as sitting in your own home(provided most probably dont) You just achieved -10 IQ Level! I don't think you fully understand how bad sweatshops are in China Mario... Sweatshops, while having incredibly horrible conditions, are still actually more comfortable than their homes. At least they have AC to keep all the computers functional. People freak out about the sweatshops requiring workers to work 100+ hours. Wal Mart's workers in China work 130+ for even lower pay rates. They're HAPPY to work on weekends. Especially when it's a hundred degrees outside, and their little shack has no air conditioning. Or when it's freezing outside. At least these sweatshops have heaters to keep people warm so they can still do the work. For the pay rates these companies offer, ANYONE in those conditions would take the job. These conditions aren't the same as sitting in your own home. They're FAR better. That's why sweatshops are such a problem in China.
