Laptop gets really hot and shuts off?
From experience, it seems HP and Compaq laptops are notorious for having ventilation and overheating problems due to the poor design. Some things you can do to stop your laptop from overheating... I know some of it may sound stupid, but for whatever reason these seem to be the most common things that cause the laptop to overheat in the first place. I'm not listing these things to judge you or anything. ;) #1. Do not place the laptop on your bed mattress, pillow, or anything similar. Not only will you be blocking the ventilation of air on the underside of the laptop, but you're also allowing heat to be trapped in a concentrated area as well. #2. Use a cooling pad. These generally run for a few dollars for a usable one. It is possible to use a cooling pad fitted for a 14" laptop for a 17" laptop, and does NOT have to be one fitted with fans (although these may also be helpful; downside is that some of the dust may get blown right back at the laptop). What this will do is basically prop up the laptop to allow for air to pass through under the laptop. #3. Get the laptop cleaned out for dust occasionally. I'm not talking about taking an air canister and blowing it across the laptop. I'm talking about actually opening it up, but only do so if you know for sure how to put it back together. Laptops are not as easy as a desktop to piece back together, and there are a lot of things in the small space you should not touch! Because of the small space, clumps of dust can accumulate easily, especially when there has been no proper ventilation to begin with. The reason why it never heated up in the first place is simply because it was new. You've probably accumulated quite a bit of dust in there now that needs to be cleaned out. :)

Keeping Up with the Yearly Tradition
This was just one of many things I had feared with the return of free trade. Now it's back to non-stop beggars. Before at least there was a limit to the amount people could beg off at a time, but now that it's unlimited, it's just asking for abuse on both sides, i.e. beggars harassing those who do not contribute to their <whatever> fund, while the "givers" harassing the beggars for begging to begin with.

Thanks! :)

Keeping Up with the Yearly Tradition
Yea, same thing was going on down in the Living Rock Caverns too. Some guy said he got scammed out of 21 million. Either he stupidly went PKing with his more expensive gear or made a terrible stake agreement.

Keeping Up with the Yearly Tradition
Despite all the "changes" that have recently been put back into the game, I've decided to mostly ignore it, mostly because I don't see it as something so drastically important that I need to dedicate time to it. Instead, I'm going the complete opposite route. For the past few years, I've been making it a point to not do anything combat related in RuneScape for the entire duration of the Lunar New Year celebration, and two weeks after that. This means a whole month dedicated to pure skilling. In years past I've done woodcutting, firemaking, fishing, and crafting. This year I'm planning to mine. This may mean I might just get 99 mining after all after having attempted to last summer but failing because it was just too boring. What started this tradition was simply the superstition that doing anything remotely violent during the new year celebrations meant I'd face more violence that year. Not that I entirely believe this superstition, but better safe than sorry. :P So some of you will find me at the Living Rock Caverns mining the concentrated old ore in world 77. I have about 78k gold ores left to level 99 mining, and I usually mine about 3k a day with school, more during the weekends. :P Anyway, in regards to the wilderness and free trade returning, I've found myself needing to turn rather Scroogey in some ways. For one thing, I realized just how much my so-called friends really considered me a friend. Last night I was bombarded with "OMG WHEN IS THE UPDATE COMING?! YOU SHOULD KNOW! JAGEX TELLS YOU ALL." It was rather saddening to see that those I considered friends were merely using me as a tool for their update news, not to mention their bank. As much as I'd like to help all 200 of my friends, there is simply no way I can go and choose a random 15 or so people to give away rares. Simply put: I won't be giving anyone anything. This sounds awfully selfish, but I don't want to make it seem like I favor one friend over the other. Free trade may be nice and all, but honestly if you're gonna just beg for free stuff and get used to that rather than working for your items, then you're no better than a scammer. Anyway... 祝你們新年快樂﹗恭喜發財﹗身體健康﹗(Happy Lunar New Year. May you have a prosperous healthy year! :shades:)

I think I'm gonna hide in the concentrated ore mines for a while as the chaos ensues upstairs in the Wilderness. XD

Would you betray your best friend for a Phat?
No in both situations. Friends, on-line and real life, have feelings.

Tip.It Times - 23rd January 2011
First Article I have my doubts about how well this update will go through as well, especially because of all the changes that have taken place in the past three years while the wilderness was "dead." Yes they've already said they'll move things as appropriate, but one can't help but to think that something will get bugged. I'm not expecting Jagex to be perfect 100%, but for an update this large, it better be damn close. Second Article Oh the memories of the old Wilderness! I wonder if people will remember how to run between the trees to get their pursuers stuck. I honestly don't think it's going to be much different from the current set up other than the drops, and that the people will be a bit more spread out across the worlds. EP was something that definitely annoyed me too as an old PKer trying to get into the new mode. I mean, what was the point of risking even 200k if chances are I'll only get maybe 20k in the end? >.<'

Now What? Bless his grave or get a free 30+m? <FREE TRADE UPDATE>
I'd still bless. It'd be a common courtesy to fellow players. I remember before the time of graveyards people would simply dogpile on the guy that was about to die and claim it for their own. But now and again you'd have people who immediately pick up the items and return them to the player when they've returned.

An epic glitch that has, sadly, just been patched.
One of the most epic graphical glitches ever. :D

Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Little story behind this: My team and I were having trouble looking for a key to open up the remaining room (we had already killed the boss), which the carpet in the home base ate so we didn't notice it was there until much later... Anyway, while we were looking for the key, one of our team members decided to have some fun, putting in about 10 to 12 toolkits around. Eventually the idea caught on, so after the door was finally opened, we all bought some toolkits with our remaining money (collected well over 500k total) and filled the whole boss room with toolkits. :D

What will make you quit RS
Well Boxxy is back, so this might actually.....oh wait, whoops, wrong forum :ugeek: OT: College pretty much makes me take a break every semester. Off Topic: Creepily enough, some people have told me I can sound like her lmao. On Topic; Yea, I wasn't playing like a TON during college, but I still had some time to play a bit. :P

Over One Year of P2P Later
I had meant to write an entry, but as you can tell I usually don't blog anyway. XD So it's been about a year and a bit over a month since I got P2P on my main. And honestly I have no regrets. Sure I lost my status as one of the higher skill-total F2Pers, but I gained a renewed interest in the game as well, not to mention even more friends. As of now, I have achieved at least three P2P stats to the 90s, including Thieving (99), Fletching (90), and Slayer (90). I've also managed to get 80+ in Herblore (80), Farming (81), and Summoning (85, with enough charms to get me to 93 at the moment). The rest unfortunately are in the 70s, but I can deal with them later. As you can tell from my signature, I got my quest cape pretty fast. I still have yet to get a fire cape (5-0 Jad), and still need to try to get full void. But all in all I guess I'm pretty happy having made this switch. So let's talk about the Wilderness & Free Trade instead! It's the talk of the community for the most part, with a majority of the votes going for their return. And now it's officially been announced that it's going to return on February 1st. Most of you know my opinion on the vote, that I was okay with the old Wilderness coming back but not Free Trade, so I voted no. Not surprisingly I got quite a bit of flames for my choice in game. They thought I was crazy to think that the prices were going to skyrocket once everything was said and done with the vote. I wonder what they're thinking now as they're trying to buy their supplies. Currently Super Restores (4) are at 13.5k each median, while Super Sets (4) are going for about a total of 3.8k each and rising. Rune Armour sets are also rising, now above 170k each. This trend will continue until close to the release date, and chances are the market will crash hard once that does happen. We can thank the merchant clans who a majority of us hate, who now have a schedule to play with to once again manipulate the prices sky high. Hate to say it to the PKers, but I told you so. :P Have fun trying to buy your stuff. But it isn't just the PKer. Skillers are also facing an increase in raw materials as well. Herbs needed for the potions that PKers commonly use are going up, ores are going up, etc. Honestly, with free trade, merchant clans will have more power than some think. That might not seem the case now, especially since we really have no reference. There were solo merchants back in the days of free trade, and many of them managed to get quite a profit. But now with the large number of merchanting clans, they can easily take advantage of the market and control the prices even more. The GE put restrictions on how fast the prices can raise. Imagine without that restriction. So prices may go down, but would they go back down to what we're used to and what we want? Or will merchant clans completely take over? Who knows. On the real life bit... I'm currently finishing up my last semester hopefully at the college I'm at now and will hopefully start working on my therapist license starting this coming Fall. ^_^

What will make you quit RS
I honestly thought college was going to make me quit. I actually ended up finding a lot of free time on my hands once studying was done and it kept me out of trouble. :P I was playing on and off, but otherwise stuck with the game. Been playing this game for almost ten years now... And still love it. But if there was something that'd really make me quit, it's probably the community if it gets so bad that I literally rage every time I log in.

What is your TRUE Combat Level
I personally think the current system is fine the way it is. Adding in skills that do not directly involve combat would just get too tricky to deal with, especially in the case of skillers who do not want "combat" to begin with. :P I like to think of the current non-combat skills as talents that build up a character's professions, so to speak. Yea, it sounds like WoW, but that's essentially to me how it works. You have a system that levels up combat, and another system that allows you to build up skills that would be beneficial to your character. :)

Tip.It Times - 16th January 2011
Well I wouldn't call it all disappointing of course. There's a lot of potential to be had with the finale of the Red Axe series and hopefully more people will enjoy fighting Nex later on; I actually like the fact that it isn't another OMG BAWSS RUSH LAWL! But the Wilderness & Free Trade Petition/Referendum/Discussion sort of overshadowed a lot of the updates we had this month, and in an indirect way almost made all the other stuff not so hyped as it should, especially Nex. Heck, I even forgot to write about the $10k a month give away. >.o Not that there is much to write about, but there's not much discussion/to discuss there unfortunately (unless we wanna go "OMG JAMFLEX GIVE $120k OUT DIS YEAR! WERE TEH MONEY$ COME FROM!?!?!?" etc.). :P I guess what I'm really trying to say is just how the community reacted pretty much killed the excitement for some of the updates.

Plus we need to consider Jagex's definition of mid-level to high level players. :P For the most part they need to be able to keep it interesting but not impossible as an event I think.
