  1. i like the idea. i dont think it should be that powerful though. it only should have a prayer bonus, and would be only really effective if the opposing player happens to have the other type of sword. it would be a weak weapon for every other reason, kinda like the excalibur or silverlight. besides, its a random event, and isnt always gonna happen everytime you die. think of it as a troll event or golem event. you dont get a troll everytime you fish or a golem everytime you pick a rock. youd have to die lots of times just to get this event and if its a non-tradable item (like all other random event items are) then nobody can profit from it. it would be a fun item to use in a duel arena, kinda like good vs evil. i think its a cool idea
  2. i couldnt find any topic discussing the age limit either.
  3. why not a keypad on the screen to enter your password? keyloggers are WAY more dangerous than just stealling your runescape account. ANYTHING you type could get picked up, such as email passwords, creditcard numbers, ssn, addresses and personal info. a keyloggers could pick up an entire document you typed in word, as well as searches you make on the web the problem isnt making runescape more secure, but making YOUR COMPUTER more secure so you dont get a keylogger in the first place. get a security system like mccafe or bullguard that allows you to manually choose EVERY program on your computer that tries to send info online, and regularly tells you if you have spyware, viruses or even ad programs on your computer and removes them as for worrying if your precious account might get stolen, i think you people have to little to worry about
  4. maybe hes talking about player-owned stores (rumored to be released with the carpentry skill). its still a store, not a bank. you could stock it up yourself with your own items, and take it "off the shelf" if you wanted, but its still gonna be a store
  5. its all here on runescape realm site. (sorry for the outside link) addy takes 4 mins 30 secs (i always thought it was 5 mins) runite takes 30 mins to respawn
  6. well they introduced the dragon hatchet with the ability to make a mage lose a few levels. so a warrior could attack the mage and make him unable to cast this spell... do mages really need more disabling spells?
  7. nice dictionary. quite a few small grammar errors, but nothing too bad. one point ill make is for the 'noobster' entry, the antagonist adds a suffix, not prefix
  8. theres a smithing update that i dont like. if you select smith 10 or smith 5 of a particular item, you cant interupt the process by walking away from the anvil, like you would walk away from a furnace if you wanted to stop smelting X bars. its annoying because if i just want to make 3 or 4 of an item i have to click the bar, then the anvil, then the item 4 times, rather than select 'smith 5' and walk away when 4 items were made
  9. think about this. if somebody borrowed your guitar and made a song with it, recorded the song and sold it, would the song be your property or theirs? if i create a character, with my time and mouse-clicking skills, within the jagex game, it should be my property. regardless, when i create a new account, i agree to keep my password to myself, and to not share my account or transfer it to anybody else or let anybody but me use that account. if i break the agreement, jagex has every right to ban my account permanently in that sense, it would be illegal to sell your account, and ebay can be forced to remove any auction that would result in an illegal sale
  10. Rofl. Don't make me laugh. Complete nonsense. Of course they have enough power, it's their game, so they make them untradeable. The economy would be much better off without tradeable rares. THey mess up the economy. well jagex wont yank phats, santas, masks, etc off the market. but you are right, the economy would have been more natural without them. there is nothing anywhere near the price of phats in runescape, and if they didnt exist merchanting would have been more sane and passive, and would not be a big deal as it is now. thats why jagex is preventing this from happening in the future. they did not see 4 years ago that making the holiday drops tradeable would be disasterous, and its too late now to fix it. but they have learned from the mistakes and thats why no more holiday drops will ever be tradeable
  11. there will be no tradeable holiday drops. ever none ever anything that could POSSIBLY become a discontinued item will be definitely not tradable ever
  12. that doesnt sort them by the relationship you have with them, which is what the thread is about. the list sorts the offline people by the order you added them, so your "oldest" friends will be at the top, unless you delete them and then add them back. you could "sort" your list this way, but its very tedious whot would be nice is if you could drag and drop your friends list names around to reorder them, like the way you can with your bank items. that would be very helpful, and a step closer to this idea
  13. if you dont want to say anything, just dont hit any keys. the majority of actions in the game is done with mouse clicking, not key commands. why would you want to be able to use key commands while the game is running? huh? huh? lol i know key commands is sometimes faster, like for old windows users or in the days of dos  but everything is at the click of a mouse button. i think most people like it better that way
  14. i think runescape needs a proper clan system. not just a friends list category. its still amazing after all this time something as fundamental to mmorpgs as an integrated clan system is still missing from a popular game such as runescape by the way, the idea is nice, but to me its more practical to just prune your list once in a while. i dont even like keeping my entire clan on my list. if i trade with someone i remove their name after the trade is over most of the time. but i support your idea as it will definitely be an improvement
  15. yup, pretty unecessary, but would be heaps of fun!! plus, firemaking absolutely sucks. im fresh out of ideas to making that bogus skill more useful. i mean, how about mage attacks that incenerate your foes? how about flares as an alternative to superheating? how about crude gunpowder technogoly from the dwarves? (nah lol) but something, please! besides lighting lamps and burning shade remains, (both are p2p actions) firemaking is pointless. who burns yew logs? if your gonna cook, a regular tree will do just as well
  16. people scam people out of their passwords with or without the filters. dont make it look as though the scam works because jagex filters words. the filter is there for a reason as for "hearing the truth", if you have to same something about someone that requires the use of obscene language, then its an opinion, so its not truth. go back to language class and learn the difference between factual statements and opinion statements instead of trying to cuss people on runescape. geez
  17. i would like to see using molotov cocktails as weapons karamja rum + [metal type] nails + ball of wool = [metal type] molotov cocktail. light with tinderbox and they become stackable and weildable your range level would determine what kind of nails you could use and wield, as well as affect the max hit. and your firemaking level would determine which types of cocktails you could light. once lit they are non tradeable, and cannot be extinguished  8)
  18. omg i love this idea!!!!!!! seriuosly. walking is really slow, a bit leisurely. and run is like a sprint. i use it when fighting hill giants in edgeville dungeon to beat other players to the first hit. but jogging, for covering long distances on less energy (most work related tasks, etc) at half the energy rate, that would be a great improvement. i hope jagex implements this
  19. i like the idea. it would be good for both the buyer and seller
  20. Congrats, you now belong to the 5 people who have posted on this thread who actually get the idea. There's really no point in selling hats to the trader, since you would get less money from him than you would get from other players. It would'nt even drop prices that much, because it is a gradual release of the item, and a white party hat from Larry would still cost 90 million (or whatever the price is now). hmmmm... bari, im also reviewing your idea. ok, say a white party hat is like 50 million on the market, on average.. instead of walking around asking players to buy my party hat for 50 mil, i could get my 50 mill from the npc hat trader. is that right? also, if this hat trader works like any other shop, then buying from hime would mean spending about 4 times the market price, since all shops make a ridiculous mark up on buy/selling the same item. so if theres a white party hat sitting in the shop syock, its gonna cost you nearly 200 million. that would make sure that that hat never returns into the market of course, not all merchants will want to go this route, but many would. this might also turn off buyers from rare trading, since the option would amost inevitably stabilize the price of rares. and more merchants might rather hold on to their rares in hopes that the npc updates at a higher price later the other issue is jagex having somebody constantly monitoring the price of all rares on a daily basis. short term rare merchants make their money by buying low (through haggling or trading for non-cash items) and selling high. if i trade 400 rune ores for a santa, this price cant be traced by the npc, since the shop value for the ores is way lower than the market value. a lot of vigilance would be needed to keep these prices up to date. even the current market value is only a rough average, since it could be +/- a mill or 2 depending on the buyer, seller and location, peak time, world, etc the npc could also be used to manipulate the market, since the average guy would use the shop as a guide to see how much he should sell for. also, he would most likely try to sell his rare on the market for slightly higher than the npc would pay, otherwise there would be no point in him merchanting to lose money or waste his time to get the same amount as the shop price. keeping up with the price would be a tricky job, to put it mildly
  21. i would love 30 spaces in inventory instead of 28. you could make 10 steel per trip, or 6 mith, which is cool for smithers :D , it really wouldnt hurt to have 2 more spaces in inventory. i would suggest 5x6 instead of 4x7 to get the 30 spaces
  22. its not spam. people have a problem when someone makes a new thread about a topic that was discussed before. people have a problem when someone bumps up an old discussion to avoid making a new thread. basically you can never make everybody happy here so i say let the guy make a new thread. in fact, the people who complain about making another thread on the same topic are sometimes the SAME people that complain about bumping old threads, so they themselves dont even know what they want i dont think an rs3 is necessary because, like others said, there are still room for updating the versino we have now. in terms of graphics, game play and options, this version rocks. not to mention no need to download a huge program and you can play from anywhere.
  23. i think it could work like the way regular online messages are sent. rather than a long note on a page, just a 1 line message as it would appear if the person was online. i personally dont think the postal service npcs are necessary, and especially needing one to open your letters/package for you. just clickinc on your envelope/box should open it... but thats off topic, and really for the other thread in order to send someone an offline message, that person must be on your friends list. if they are online, their name will be red. you simply click their name and send a 1 line message as if they were on. similarly, as with other chat options, you could set your offline messages to on, off or friends (only people on YOUR friend list could send you offline messages)
  24. look at how many new money making threads are started everyday. either somebody has a question about how to make money, a suggestion, or a guide to making money. there are literally hundreds of different ways to make money, each with varying effectiveness, and each suited for different people depending on their play style, levels, time and skills. it would make no sense at all to sticky all the threads that deal with discussions on making money, and making money can never be dealt with in one singke thread. it is sinmply too broad a topic, and i think it deserves its own board, to better organise the site and make it more useful. the other benefit would be that help and advice would focus on in-game tips and help with things like quests, training, and locations of items and strategies for monsters and that sort of info. i think it would make the board more useful overall
  25. i think there should be a forum designated for money-making tips and discussions, that is separate from the help and advice section. that way the help and advice section would be questions about in-game help (like locations of items, help with quests, or how to do things in the game), while the money-making section will be open to people coming up with ideas, schemes and projects for making money. i think there is enough interest in this paticular info to make it a section of its own
