  1. And you've yet to prove it right. Unless you have proof that you have met with every single person and found them to be moronic.
  2. I believe in absolutes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_truth
  3. Absolutism.
  4. But at least people in the US get to choose who they marry. That's not the point. The point is that those in arranged marriages have lower divorce rates than those in voluntary marriages. It may be that, while the divorce rate is lower, people involved in arranged marriage don't have so much of an option for divorce as I'm guessing it would often result in disgrace and family feuds. You can't measure unhappiness through divorce stats - it's not the only factor. Yes well my post was in response to someone trying to use divorce stats in their favour. Statistics are usually backed up by a study; or if a study is being quoted, the study is cited.

  6. I bolded my beliefs. I consider myself mainline to mainline Christian/Protestant so I guess both of the bolded ones apply. Not so sure about how 7th day adventist and BahÃÆÃâÃâá'ÃÆÃâÃâí got up there, but everything else seems to be in the right order.
  7. Yes, that's what solidifies my theist beliefs :P ironic.

Most objective life skills are taught in school (economics for example). However, most life skills are subjective and teaching any one life skill in a board approved matter is going to end up forcing beliefs down student's throats.
  9. It's interesting talking to a few of my friends about a course we all took last semester. At my uni, your final grades can only end in a 0, 2, 5, or 8. So if you get an 83.4%, you'll get rounded to 82. And 83.5% gets rounded to an 85, so this rounding policy has a huge effect on our marks. In this one course, everyone in my program needed a 60% to pass. A large number of students finished the course with a rounded 58%. They asked the prof to raise their mark the 0.5% or whatever it was to get their 60, and the prof would not do it. I ended the course with an 88 rounded average (88.95% actual), and the professor gladly rounded my mark up to 90, as I had proven myself during the semester. So in this case the professor definitely was subjective, but it makes sense at the same time.

Illegal turns. The ones where people turn their vehicles into the far lane making it impossible for two people on opposite sides of the intersection to turn at once.

I said felt better :P played better; it wasn't plugged in so it didn't really have sound. That isn't a terrible idea. Only reason I was telling you to wait is because you've got an acoustic so that could tide you over. A Stratocaster has humbuckers; basically these are the pickups that give the guitar the distortion sound. Telecasters have a different pickup that isn't so great on distortion but is much better at giving more of a clean sound, even a "twangy" sound sometimes. It just comes down to personal preference. If you don't really have a preference, go for the Stratocaster, as it's probably a more general type of guitar than the telecaster.
  13. Nope. I'm still a little anti-cellphone. Plus I don't think at this point in my life it would be worth the monthly costs.
  14. The reason we put up the trivial internet video sticky was because the majority of the topics made about the videos were spam. All the topic titles were something like "Check this out!!" and then the entire post by the author would be a link to a youtube video.

Basically, with guitars, you get what you pay for. So if a Squier is cheap, it's gonna suck. My cousin had one and he didn't enjoy it - I own a real Fender, and when he played mine, he said it felt a ton better and was easier to play. As far as hollow-solid bodies, it depends what kind of music you want to play. Hollowbody electrics give a cleaner sound, better for jazz/blues/country guitar. It is possible to add distortion to hollowbody electrics, but they often feedback the more you try and distort the sound. Solidbody electrics are more for rock, and you get rock out some sweet hardcore blues stuff as well. I personally couldn't decide and went with a semi-hollowbody guitar (Fender Thinline Telecaster '69 reissue).
  16. It's not easy to make one, feel free to do so yourself. And alot of the questions are about users. I had road blocks creating 20 totally different questions that were still relevant enough, hence the avatar one and history buff one, those were last resorts. My last resorts took me half an hour to work out; I doubled up on one type since I practically ran out of directions to take. The result -.- 13/20 on yours. Finally caved and used a trashmail account :P
  17. Likewise. Me too. Although I imagine I'm between 130-170.
  18. That's quite assuming for someone who doesn't post in offtopic.
  19. Well, it's been a month. I think that's enough time for the engines to have cooled considerably. Obviously I'm not going to go out of my way to create discussions of the sort, but as it was listed as a temporary ban I think one month is a good even number on which to lift it.
  20. The Bible. Often when I'm about to do something stupid, something I know I'll regret later but ignore it anyways, a verse will pop into my head that has more power than my will or my intellect. It gets me through and I am totally undeserving of it.

You're going to hate me for this, but I would advise you to wait until you have more money before you get a guitar and an amplifier. I know you already have an acoustic, so you aren't without a guitar, and I don't think you want to be spending $300 on a guitar and amplifier you won't be happy with and are going to be wanting to replace in a couple years.

Don't get a Squier. They're a cheap Fender knock-off and unless you're looking for something really cheap I'd not suggest getting one. If I have time later I'll look for an economical electric that might be better suited. I know a bit more about purchasing acoustics so I guess it's time to broaden my knowledge. What price range do you have?

I would definitely agree to Seinfeld. I eventually want to collect every season; I've got 3 so far.
