PHP/SQL question
It's in the php script: $sql = "INSERT INTO table_name (name, age) VALUES ('$name', $age)"; Yes I have been deleting as I add but I don't see it as relevant. I added the record with id 48 first, then 49, then 50. But they are ordered 50, 49, and 48 in the table.

PHP/SQL question
I've just started to dabble in PHP/SQL, and I've run into a problem. I have a page set up so that you can enter your name and age, and it will enter these into an SQL database. The description of the table is as follows: Now, sometimes when I enter data, it inputs it into the table in a weird table: (note the 50,49,48 in the id field). My input script is as follows: <?php if (isset($_POST['name'])) { $name = $_POST['name']; $age = $_POST['age']; $booleanage = validAge($age); if (!$booleanage) { exit(' invalid age entered.'); } $sql = "INSERT INTO table_name (name, age) VALUES ('$name', $age)"; if (@mysql_query($sql)) { echo ' name entered into database';} else { echo ' error entering name & age into database: ' . mysql_error() . ''; } } ?> Any thoughts?

Medical Question
Your symptoms are pretty common I think. In my phys-ed classes in high school, one of the students asked the teacher about the students you mentioned, and then like 15 guys in the class were like "Yeah, I've got that too". It's happened to me as well, I wasn't ever worried about it and it's gone away.

The guy didn't knee him. It just happen to be a bad hit. Leafs suck anyways... If the guy didn't knee him intentionally then why was he given a game misconduct?

Texas: You just can't make this stuff up anymore.
First, what makes you think that morality can be applied to non-human animals? Second, if you can prove that holding animals morally responsible makes sense, can you prove that the animals being hunted are actually innocent?

What did you get for christmas?
You obviously know nothing about golf. a complete moron who has no idea how to play with the most expensive club wont beat someone whos very well aware of how to play with a piece of [cabbage] club Exactly. It's obviously a combination of skill and equipment. I wouldn't dare step onto the ice with "throwback padding". I would be crippled on the first check.

Moving topics instead of locking?
Not this topic. All the topics that are supposed to be moved are in the wrong forum. Else they wouldn't have to be moved. What I was saying is that users should take the time to post in the correct forum in the first place. Moving topics for them is saying "here, let me move your topic for you. You don't have to post in the right location because it will be moved there. In fact, don't read any more rules because we're going to babysit our users".

Do your views contradict?
I had 3 tensions in my result, and I only agreed with one of them. The other two were wrong interpretations by the site. The one I agreed with was a tension because I misread the question :P

morality
If he could actually stop you from doing it, then it'd be forcing. Otherwise it's just a disagreement. I would say that even if he couldn't stop me from doing it, he's still trying to force his morals on me. Agreed. Like forcing "do not kill" on lunatic murderers who think their actions are justified.

morality
thats right, you cant help people that dont want to be helped. In other words, you cant force your morals on others. I don't know if you meant it that way, but are you implying that forcing morals on others helps them? By telling me it's wrong to force my morals on someone, you're forcing your morals on me.

Moving topics instead of locking?
Not reading the rules, posting in the wrong forum, and then getting mad at staff for enforcing the rules you claimed to have read when you signed up? Stupidposting ftl.

Help me spend my X-mas cash!
As for your guitar/amp, it's only going to sound as good as the weakest link. So if you buy a $400 guitar and a $150 amp, the package will sound like $150. I'd suggest getting the fender, and then waiting until you can afford an amp worth at least ~$250.

NHL
Gah, Leafs are so injured. A Blackhawks player took a knee at Peca and took him out for the season. Wellwood and Ponikarovsky were both injured during practice, as was Antropov.

What did you get for christmas?
I don't play hockey yet. I'm 20, Canadian, and never played ice hockey before, so I decided to do something about it. I'm joining this league. It's basically a league for those, 21+ that have never played hockey before and want to learn. I start in September. I can't wait!

morality
I don't see your logical leap here - how does the existence of god have any effect on the concept of intrinsic morality? It seems that you're basing the concept of morality with that of religion. I think (to "dumb down" his argument a little), the reason intrinsic morality doesn't exist if God doesn't exist boils down to materialism. An atheist is generally going to be a materialist (only material things exist). An objective moral standard cannot be a material thing. Can you reach out and physically see or touch this moral standard? I think a materialist would argue that since a moral standard cannot physically exist, then there is no objective moral standard by which we can judge actions. Yea, I realized afterwards that it was a really dumb thing to say. Subjective morality is completely reasonable when believed by an atheist. But if everybody beliefs in a lack of morality then this world would degrade into a frenzy. I guess pragmatically we need to act as if morality is objective when dealing with things such as laws.

Do any of you guys work?
I always work full-time during the summer (may-sept), usually greenhouse work or something simple like that. Never really had a job during the school year, but this next semester I'll be doing personal work for a professor (extremely part time) and (hopefully) be working as a TA.
