That's a ridiculous argument. So because the world sucks, we should let you do whatever you want and inhale your toxins into our bodies? I don't see how anyone could possibly defend smoking. It's harmful, it costs money, and it harms others, even. It makes you smell gross, it tastes gross, and if you need it to relax you, then you've got problems.

I'll smoke a cigar on a celebratory occasion, but that's it. Gah, this FireFox American spell checker is telling me "occaision" isn't a word. Is that the Canadian spelling?

w00t I want some on Christmas though. To complete the magic :-$ It's supposed to rain :(
  4. yeah, I tend to disagree with her on most everything. But I still respect her opinion a lot more than everyone else's. :P Oh, her views are generally consistent. They're just consistently opposite mine.
  5. Oy, Astra, Ghost. Who do I disagree with the most? mad :P
  6. 5' 11". I'm pretty sure I've stopped growing. All of my friends are taller than me :P
  7. Well hockey's a more physical game to begin with. In hockey, it's legal to shoulder-check an opponent in the face. I don't think that's legal in basketball :P Also, fighting is against the rules in hockey - they just let them do it. It's a major penalty for fighting, and if you get in a fight with less than five minutes left in a game, you get auto-fined. One of my favorite Person-Player fights was Tie Domi vrs. Intoxicated Philadelphia Flyers fan in 2000. :P I didn't know fighting was legal in the NFL. Like, players can drop their gloves and helmets and just smoke each other in the face like in hockey?

That happens with all relationships early on. Once the initial infatuation stage ends you'll have your friend back. It will happen to you one day too.

  10. In my 26 month tenure as an offtopic moderator, I never spent any extra time on deciding whether to lock a religion topic as opposed to a spam topic. Having been there, done that, I can say that I may have split a thread on religion once or twice, in over two years. The threads that aren't originally meant for religion, yes, I split more often. But the threads designed specifically for religious discussion never really had problems with them.
  11. That's honestly what I think as well. The fashion companies thought "how ugly can we make clothes and still have people buy them?". I call them roadkill boots.
  12. I'd be for that. Things have been getting out of hand, topics have been dragged off topic and into religious arguments and they have got far too heated. I think some cooling off would help. And/or more strict rules for people getting out of hand on those topics. For instance, a user once suggested that all members of a certain religious affilitation kill themselves, called them all idiots, etc. Afaik, no action was taken at all. It's these users that are ruining the discussions for everyone else.
  13. Because the TET never planned any events with convenient times for Aussies.
  14. Enslaved to brand names? Not me, personally. I mean, you can call me "enslaved" to fashion, but really when it comes down to it, I like to look nice for me. I don't buy brand name clothes, but I still buy clothes that look nice in my eyes.
  15. What they need is larger disciplinary actions. $500 000 per team is what, $100 000 per athlete, if they decide to charge the athletes to pay the fine. I say suspend them for the remainder of the season without pay. That would fix things in a hurry. Of course it would have massive repercussions on the club that is losing revenue over this, but that would also encourage other clubs to keep their players in check.
  16. I'm with How2PK. When me and my friends go camping. We just barbeque food and talk all day long.
  17. In other words, change the story to gain converts. I wouldn't say they were changing the story. They were simply trying to make new converts feel more comfortable. No one's saying they wouldn't have converted if they didn't change their holidays.
  18. It's called syncretism. So if the point you were trying to make was to once again try and insult Christianity, it's a no-go. Syncretism was a way of making new converts (without oppressing them) more comfortable with Christianity by allowing them to celebrate their old festivals; just with a Christian twinge to them.
  19. Exam exemption based on attendance? That's odd. Our school used to have exam exemption based on marks going into the exam. Then they realized that exempted people from exams didn't make any sense and made them mandatory. As for me, I finished on the 15th. Calculus: 77% on the exam, 75% final. Linear Algebra: No mark back yet. Advanced Data Structures and Algorithm Analysis: 93% on the exam, 90% in the course. Programming Theory and Object Orientation: 80% on the exam, 78% overall. Machine Architecture and Assembly Language: No mark back yet.
  20. Of course I understand that, but why celebrate on the same day?
  21. Christmas isn't even a religious holiday anymore. It's a day to celebrate materialism and greed.
  22. Anyone that uses "u" instead of "you" shouldn't be taken seriously.
  23. This is my beauty. Had her for a month or so, and I love it. (Fender Telecaster Thinline). I've been trying to learn some John Mayer stuff, but it's pretty tough. I'm submitting a tab to ultimate guitar in a day or so for "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room". It might be a while though, I'm trying to tab it exact and its taken me an hour for the first minute of the song.
  24. Do your parents normally get presents for your cousins?
