  1. Sounds like you're talking about the tiberium from the Command & Conquer series. Volitile stuff, if I remember right. Not sure how it would work here in the game, but an interesting idea none-the-less. - Sligo
  2. Why not? I high-alch most of the hides I get (after crafting them, of course) so pulling out a few to make a cool rug wouldn't bother me in the least. Good idea, by the way. - Sligo
  3. Hmm. Didn't know that, since it didn't apply to me. I still wonder why there's nothing in the rules or knowledge base about it. - Sligo
  4. You know what? Bubsa has nearly 10k posts on this forum, probably among the highest all time post counts. I think he's made a lot of great contributions to this forum and its success, so if he wants to criticize, I'll let him. Thank you editor for mentioning my name in your article. I'll probably write more articles and submit them as the inspiration strikes. Now for the rest of you, I had no idea who to submit the article so I made a logical guess, and I guessed right. Kind of like doing a quest in RS, one about as hard as, uhm, Cook's Assistant. Having done some research into publishing professionally (though sadly lacking any real success in that endeavor), I've learned that editors who allow open submissions tend to get a lot more than they can handle. This means five things: 1. Only those articles that require the least amount of editing get considered. 2. Only those articles that the editor enjoys reading get considered. 3. Only articles of the appropriate length will get considered. 4. Only original articles about current topics will get considered. 5. If the editor is writing his own articles, then submitted articles will only get published if the editor doesn't have anything else, and only one submitted article will get published at a time. (Unless they change their format, which I don't think will happen) So, if you do submit an article, take the time to make sure you've spelled everything right, you used good grammar, and make sure it's an enjoyable read of the correct length. Take this time to make sure the article is good before you hit that submit button, but don't hold your breath waiting for it to be published. (My last article waited about 3 weeks for publication, and I thought that was rather quick!) Now Mr. Editor, since I've just layed out clear and simple rules on how to submit articles, I apologize in advance for all the noobs who will submit articles without bothering to do any of this stuff. You can't say I didn't try. - Sligo
  5. *Ahem* I draw your attention to this tip.it times article published almost a year ago: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?times=11 Written by yours truly. 'nuff said. - Sligo
  6. I wouldn't be surprise to see a Dragon pick released sometime within the next year. It will probably be a drop from a hard-to-kill monster, just like the axe. The high-alch value will probably be between 50k and 75k. The market price will be whatever people are willing to pay for it. (You cant set a market price in a free market system. Market prices are set by supply and demand.) That's all I have to say about this topic! - Sligo
  7. Thirteen plus? Where do you see that? I looked for it, have read the rules numerous times. I have never seen anything like this. I'm aware that there are some laws pertaining to forum sites that require parental approval for kids under 13 to participate, but I've not seen anything in RS like this at all. There are all kinds of things in RS that appeal to people of all different ages. Of course, because of the kids, there's no adult oriented or inappropriate material, but I see that as a good thing. When I get the frog princess random, and get the frog token, I drop it. Simple as that. - Sligo
  8. Nice article, good read. I just did M.E. II last week, and I know exactly how you feel about it. It was a very frustrating quest and I probably used up about a hundred swordies, 30-40 super energy pots, 20 sets of ardougne teleport runes, blah blah blah... Especially frustrating since after I talked to the dwarf the first time, I forgot to turn the red beam back to the entrance before teleporting out! I had to pull the lever and reset all the mirrors and crystals again. By the way, I was left with the cyan crystal in my inventory and no place to put it, so I left it sitting in one of the unused terminals. At least it isn't taking up bank space! It took me a while just to figure out how to get replace my mourner's outfit. The tipit guide says to kill a level 11 mourner. I must have killed 50 level 11, 18 and 24 mourners before I realized that the mourner it was talking about wasn't in West Ardy, but way over by the foot path into the elf lands. Arg! Now, about criticism. People, if you don't like the articles you are seeing published, what's stopping you from submitting your own? Maybe you should submit an editorial about what you don't like about the weekly tip.it times articles. - Sligo
  9. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a potion restore about 10-20% per dose. If it's a higher level potion, the abuse wouldn't be quite so bad because it would be rather expensive. Maybe Dwarf weed + Chocolate? - Sligo
  10. Speak for yourself. In some sense, we are all accountable. Also, you'd find that the majority of people have something called "integrity" which means they still don't break the rules even when they think nobody is watching. - Sligo
  11. Rule 1: Never loan money unless you can afford to lose it. Rule 2: Don't trust anybody in game, even if you know them in real life. Well, kinda harsh, but it works. Sorry to hear about your loss, but it doesn't surprise me. - Sligo
  12. I'm in a clan with a minimum age limit of 30. We only accept 15 new members each month and that is usually accomplished within about 10-12 hours on the first day of the month. Since I've joined, my playing experience is a lot more fun for me because most of the people on my friends list now are peers and they are respectful of my time and wishes (as I am with theirs). - Sligo
  13. I'd love to help, but I'm in the middle of working on a huge new skill suggestion that has a couple quests in it as well. Since the skill I'm working on isn't combat related, I don't see right off how giant critters would play a part, but I'll keep an open mind about it. - Sligo
  14. I'm not, and sorry if I sounded like I did. But that "ding dong" idea is awfully close to the "forum spam" line. You know what I mean? I think you might actually have some good ideas, and I think it would be awesome if you expanded on them rather than just throw out a few random suggestions. Sure, I can come up with a Giant Ape or Giant Scorpion quest, but since they are your ideas, I'd like to know what you think. - Sligo
  15. Maybe add a restaurant room to your POH? Hire a kitchen staff, servers, etc. Can't really see how it would make a lot of money, but it might be fun to do. - Sligo
  16. Actually, there is.. It's called Scorpion Catcher. But since you're into Giant things, perhaps you could combine your giant ape idea and this (and whatever you're typing right now as I type this) and make a quest along the lines of Gulliver's Travels where the character goes to a place where there are tiny people and monsters then to another place where there are giant people and monsters. And while you're at it, ya might spend a little time reading the quest ideas other people have posted, since you're evidently new at this. - Sligo
  17. Take the silly out of it and you might actually have an idea worth pursuing. Perchance, could you write up a detailed quest story for this? - Sligo
  18. Because you're talking about a "Job," the pay would never be as good as merchanting or high-alching. But, depending upon the job, the pay could actually be pretty good. - Sligo
  19. If you really want to go through the process, you can modify your Windows Accessability options to make it so you can control the mouse entirely from your keyboard. Since this is built into Windows, it would not be considered illegal by Jagex standards (i.e. autoing, etc). Mind you, I haven't done this myself, but I have heard about it and I know that i can be done. - Sligo
  20. Maybe a "Community" skill, perhaps? Kinda like the slayer skill where you are given tasks by various NPC's to perform and you gain ranks in Community. As you gain ranks, not only do you get better jobs, but gain access to cool stuff. Since a lot of Quests are "community service" based, when (if) the skill is added, you automatically get the appropriate experience from each of those quests. As you do the community quests, you get community experience as well as the normal experience. Interesting idea - I like it, but I think it would need some work. - Sligo
  21. Swearing is using one inappropriate word. Excessive swearing is using more than one inappropriate word. Hey, if it's inappropriate for children, then explain to me why it's appropriate to adults. - Sligo
  22. I agree that commas should be used. Not only here, but with skill experience totals and in your bank. - Sligo
  23. I actually like this idea. The "break-off" skill could be "baking" and consist of all those cooked items that require a range. Another aspect of it would be a tie-in to farming, allowing you to grow your cooking herbs and spices (oregano, basil, parsley, etc), then using these herbs and spices in your cooking to enhance the benefits of the food you eat. The hard part is adding the skill into the game because Cooking already encompasses many of these items. - Sligo
  24. Not true... Go back and read one of my posts on the first page of this thread where I quote from Jagex their position on fan sites. It's illegal to "say" a web address, and it is illegal to openly(publicly) advertise and promote a web site. Other than that, you can talk about fan sites in RS to your friends all you want. - Sligo
