  1. Like this. You're one year closer to dieing! Just kidding... :P Hope you have a great birthday and get lots of good presents! :
  2. So we should completely forget all the years of scientific research? All the graphs, charts, and data that clearly proves our point? Just ignore all the signs that point to humans, and listen to you because the snowfall in one state out of the ENTIRE WORLD changed?
  3. Kinda off topic, but I had to post about this... Bill Clinton was a great president. You're probably just calling him a 'scumbag' of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. He expanded the EITC, raised taxes on the rich, and lowered them on the poor and small businesses, and tons of other programs which can be found here. Every day you hear someone ranting about Bush? Well they're probably average people, people's whose votes don't actually count. The votes that count are the electoral college, and they can vote however they want. So, it doesn't matter if a president elect wins 100% of the popular vote, if he loses the electoral vote, he isn't the president. This is democracy? And I don't know what would be happening if John Kerry would've been elected but I do know 100% that he wouldn't get a law passed that allows homosexual marriages. You know why? Because that power is given to the states. In the constitution, article 1 section 8 clauses 1-18, spell out the powers of the federal government and any powers not in there are given to states. NO WHERE in there does it allow marriage laws, so each state can choose what it wants. There is one thing I agree with you, though. President Bush isn't completely responsible for the war. Every 60 days, he has to get congressional approval and, apparently, they keep giving it to him. So it's not just Bush's fault, it's also congress' for letting it continue. Yes, but out of all the arrests made, many of the suspected terrorists are sitting in jail. Without a trial. Without evidence. Seems like the country has a bad case of McCarthyism... But I'm sure the government knows what they're doing, it's not like they've rounded up people for no reason and jailed them before. Oh wait... they have to the Japanese. But they gave them an apology and $20,000 about 46 years later, so it's all good. Right? They only lost their homes, their jobs, their businesses, EVERYTHING they owned. I'm sure that made up for it.
  4. Yea, the Earth can balance itself out, and it probably has. But, because of everything we're doing do harm the environment, we've greatly thrown it out of balance so it might take thousands of years for it to 'fix' itself. By then, we will have killed ourselves... You say that saying we're causing global warming and it'll cause melting ice caps and our land flooding is moronic. Why? Because it's true? The ice caps are melting, and if they melt enough, tons of our land will be flooded. Many polar bears are actually DROWNING because they can't find ice to rest on. A semi aquatic mammal is drowning. Ah... money... It always comes back to this. This article says that the Iraq war is costing $100,000 a minute. (think it's a little high? go here and time it, it'll work out to almost $200,000 a minute) If we withdrew from Iraq, in 3,000 minutes, 50 hours, a little over 2 days we would have enough money for this. How's that for perspective?
  5. Holy crap that's really gonna affect me! :o It will effect you. Because you might not be directly effected by a couple polar bears dieing, but it's happening because of global warming, and I have a pretty strong feeling that you live on Earth... This is exactly the kind of attitude that's causing things like this. People feel like they can't do anything about this, that they're helpless. But if we caused this, we can stop it (or at least slow it down). Like I said before, there's TONS of alternate energy sources. There's solar power, wind farms, underwater wind farms, we're even getting pretty close to fusion. So don't, for a second, think that there's nothing we can do. There's everything we can do. Wow... That's exactly how I feel.
  6. Sorry about the double post, thought I hit edit, but I hit quote instead. :-#
  7. Yea, I said that. I think. :-k But because we sped it up, we threw nature out of balance. The Earth would be able to 'heal' itself had the warming happened naturally, but since we've sped it up, things like this are happening. So, we could either wait for the Earth to 'heal' itself (which might not be for thousands of years) or we could use greener energy. There are dozens of different energy sources out there, but people don't want to use them. Mostly because they don't want to put out the money to start.
  8. Anyone else have trouble grasping the concept of the gay bomb? I mean, the image I have in my mind is a battlefield, bombs going off and all that. And we drop the gay bomb and it's so strong that they forget that they could DIE and have sex? Seems kinda unlikely... even if we could develop that.
  9. I know that. Volcanic activity is kind of..ehh..'rarER' these days. But since humans have industrialized and released all of these gasses into the atmosphere, in a way, it has replaced the volcanic activity. Again, I'm not exactly sure this is a cycle. But I'm sure that if humans were not around right now, with the gasses and all..the cycle I'm talking about would take many many millions of years before we ever actually started global warming. So... you're saying that it is humans' fault? :-s
  10. Even if it is a natural cycle we've greatly sped it up. Because of other generations (and this one) feeling like someone else will 'fix it,' no one has ever really tried to stop the destruction that we're causing. People have to wake up and realize that global warming is real. That we've caused it. And that we need to do something to stop it (or at least slow it down). There are tons of other energy sources we can use, but we use coal and oil because that's the easiest. Edit: In your global warming theory you say that you think it's a cycle. First, it was caused by volcanoes releasing the greenhouse gases. Now it's being caused by us. In case you didn't know, the things that are releasing the greenhouse gases TODAY are all man made. Cars didn't fall off the trees. Oil refineries didn't spring out of the ground. Humans caused it. No one wants to admit it, though.
  11. It was interesting, but I liked the first one better. :P
  12. Public speaking, hands down. Even to a small amount of people (5 or 10) it still terrifies me. I can feel all their eyes on me, and I start to get really red, my hands sweat, and then I get really self conscious, so it gets even worse. Not a good situation for me to be in...
  13. I don't even know what to write... I'm just so ticked off at that guy and his therapist. Where did they get their college degree? A community college?
  14. It's sad to see things like this happen. Especially knowing that this could be completely preventable. I hope the polar bears don't go extinct before the world starts cleaning up its act. Also, scientists are finding polar bears that are drowning, too. They're swimming for such a long time, looking for ice to rest on, that they actually die. Really hope they don't go extinct, they're my favorite.
  15. I'd probably be kinda upset, but he wouldn't give it back, so there wouldn't be any point to dwelling on it. Just brush yourself off and start over.
  16. Seems like everyone is ignoring the still massive def bonuses... Edit:
  17. That's exactly what I want.
  18. I draw an Ace of Cups and Coins. They negate each other and the third draw is the Queen of Clubs. It will be an interesting journey, but you will succeed in the end . ;) It'll be interesting to see how it turns out. Thanks for giving me a light at the end of the tunnel. :)
  19. Seems like all you can do now is tell the truth. Explain to your mom, the judge, or whoever else that you felt completely better when you didn't take them. Tell them that you realize it was a stupid mistake to try to get rid of them by giving them to other students. It may sound cliche or corny or whatever, but honesty is the best policy. And as for people who go to your school, tell them the same thing, if they don't/don't want to believe it, then you really don't need them. Hope everything works out for the better!
  20. I just read the other topics yesterday, and was really looking foward to this one. All of them were incredibly insightful and thought provoking and really put things in perspective. Not sure what else to write though, it's so incredible. :o Well, good luck on the MCAT, happy birthday, and I hope you get to make an incredible impact in Africa.
  21. Not really sure if I have a favorite, but a least favorite is definitely George W Bush mainly because of the war in Iraq...
  22. You make it seem like they're going into a dark alley and an ex-con is hacking away at them with a meat cleaver. And they're 'very disturbed'? They aren't hearing voices telling them that they should be a woman instead. They don't go around killing the opposite sex because they're jealous of them. How do you figure that they're so disturbed that you should take away their right to do what they want with THEIR OWN bodies? Oh, you're just looking out for them? That's why they get these operations done, because they probably feel trapped in the body they're in; they probably feel awkward, like they don't belong. And how is it so dangerous to society? You put all that out there saying that they're disturbed and it's too dangerous to let them decide for themselves. If it is, then it's too dangerous to have people deciding whether or not to have a nose job, or liposuction, or any other procedures.
  23. Will I be ok? (It seems like a vague question, but it's specific for me. :P)
  24. Seems like it's their choice and no one elses. And I saw on Law & Order that there's a part of the brain that's different in males and females (like it's bigger in males or something). And they've looked at peoples brains and realized that their body didn't match that part of their brain. Soooo, it's not like all transsexuals are creepy, some of them actually have a condition.
