Are we overpopulating?
"We're a virus with [bleep]ing shoes, man" :P We are going to eventually overpopulate, but I'd say we haven't yet. Overpopulation is when the population dosen't have enough resources to survive and declines as a result. Our population is still increasing, so it hasen't technically happened yet, but it's on the way.

Scientology : Cult or Religion?
Spiritual freedom for your money. How quaint. From what I've heard (which is little, to be fair), it's a cult.

Chos Magick..The all and nothing in only one word?
Doesn't matter how you word it, that's still wrong. Well, since when this became a disscussion about the possibility of making impossible things? I think that everything is possible, at least in our minds that is still some plane of existence, if I imagine a man eating his own head then it exists in my imagination and if it already exists then it is possible in my mind, the problem is when we donnot know the plane we are talking about, of course, out of our minds there would be very extrange to see someone eating his own head... But if it's possible, I think it might create some sort of dark hole that will eat itself infinite time getting stronger till the destruction of the universe (I'm sure that science-man [the guy that I'm quoting and knows very much about science] will doubt about my theory). Then I ask, why you people laughts at me for trying to believe in magic with a "k" in the end "to make it more mystic" when millions of people in the world believe either some guy that defeate dthe death and was back to the life in three days or in some other who got his sacred book from an archangel? Seriously, to want is the power and all our religions can resume to only one word "mind", because from the mind emerges the faith and from the faith the power to believe whatever we want and to make it reality. P.D: I'm catholic, so donnot try to fire me for saying that believing on the resurrection of Jesus is the same as thinking you can summon mystical forces and energy. Arrggghh!! He's right! Quick!, start teaching magik in schools as an alternative for anything that isn't a law!!!!oneeeleven11!! Haha, sorry about that. Just having a subtle dig at intelliegent design being taught in schools (if this turns into a topic about ID [please, don't] I'll promise to make a topic on it so this one dosen't get dragged down.) Anyway now that I've probably insulted you (please, don't take it the wrong way. If you're into magic, I don't mind at all) I'll get onto the whole thing about impossibility. To me, all it takes is context. In the context of NOW, there are impossible things. To be honest to the limitations of human beings, we are not entirely sure what and why something will be impossible in the context of the future. We may be invaded by aliens who brain farm us into thinking that drawing a square is impossible. #-o Our brains are a tool. They don't define laws or impossibilities, they just suggest them from observations.

Underage Drinking
What was the point in saying that? Apart from attempting to distance yourself from the very forum where you have over one thousand posts on, do you believe you are somehow superior to everyone here? Denial anyone? over 38 million exp in Runescape and with a name like 'Poopingman' you are clearly the cool guy within the walls of this forum. Warrior in reply to your post you may see that what I am talking about is getting blind drunk with your friends, I'm not talking about knocking back a couple of beers while watching tv or what have you...maybe I should have made that clearer. I see. Still, not everyone drinks to get drunk with mates just because of peer pressure. I've been drinking with mates where I'd only have a sixer and they'd have half a carton. If you have friends that pressure you into drinking or you feel pressured into getting blind drunk with them, they are pretty crap friends. From what I was getting originally, you were saying the people only drink because of peer pressure. Now that we've cut that down to only getting drunk with mates, I hope I've shown you that your stance isn't entirely correct for everyone (if that's what you were getting at. If you weren't, I apologise.)

Global Warming. Whats your opinion?
Here here. Regardless of whether it's true or not, the climate is fluctuating in a way that demands us all to at least be aware that what we're doing isn't in the best interests of keeping the human race in existance. People can argue the truth of the theory till' the cows come home, it still dosen't get us anywhere in terms of ensuring the longevity of the human race in terms of pollution and the source of our energy.

Underage Drinking
um...there's a difference between a self desire and giving into the desire of others my friend. No there isn't, unless you're telling you drink on your own, like you for example play a video game on your own. Judging from your earlier example you don't drink on your own and in actual fact, yes you are vulnerable to peer pressure  or not? i drink cause i want to. peer pressure is drinking for the sole reason your friends are pressuring you to or you feel left out. and there are times when my friends drink and i don't drink at all...so you're wrong my friend...just another person who is speaking without experience also there were times when i had beers in my fridge in my dorm and after a long day i watched TV with 1 beer the whole night. Well done, you just defined the word denial =D> Do you honestly think that after the original ignorance and peer pressure associated with drinking that people will only drink because of peer pressure or in a social situation? Here's a shocker - out of around the last 10 times I've drank alcohol (each of which were 2 beers or less, mind you [haven't been wasted in a while]), around 8 or 9 times would have been by myself. But nah, I'm probably just in denial with an underlying supression of alcoholism and low self esteem, right?

Happy Mother's Day!
Sorry to hear about that, I know how you feel. My folks split up a few years ago, 20 years of marriage :( I remember that feeling too. Sorry to hear that. As a result of my parents being divorced and some other... issues... mothers days isn't on my calender. And I'm not keen to elaborate. Anyway I'm not trying to be here to drag the occasion down for all the true blue mothers out there who do a great job so gratz to them for being awesome and putting up with thier childrens crap 365 days a year. :P

Underage Drinking
Second hand smoke? "Smoking cant ruin someone elses life like that" :-s ? Point..? I think he was making the distinction between being drunk, driving and killing someone instantly and the years of exposure it usually takes (I know it can happen at any time, I'm just making an average) to get lung cancer and die from second hand smoke.

Why Do People Constantly Whine About Arguing?
I agree. Especially when people have opinions on science, which can often be misinformed (especially for one particular theory) to the point of being annoying and wrong. Of course, everyone is entitled to thier opinion, but the idea that it's some sort of sacred right and no one can say you're wrong gets annoying, especially when some opinions defy facts, logic and/or reasoning... ... in my opinion. :P Anyone ever heard the quote - "opinions are a lot like [wagon] holes - everyone has them"?

The Best Sport's Team In The Entire World?
For me it's the Australian Cricket Team of the 06/07 ashes series, hands down. They were goddamn invincible and were always going to wipe the floor with the poms. :P That series would have to be the best sports series I have ever seen in my 18 year existance. Guys like Warne and McGrath did so much for that team and for Australian cricket... Legends of the game. I dare say Ricky Ponting will end up in that class by the end of his career; he is one rediculously talented cricketer.

Why Do People Constantly Whine About Arguing?
I think we should have a subforum for debates in OT as, obviously, there's never much true debating going on here. Set strict posting rules and guidelines for those who want to have an intelligent debate. Just an idea...
-
Why Do People Constantly Whine About Arguing?
As assassin put it, all forms of debate are fine but then there's only a one post gap between turning a topic from a debate into an argument. It's semantically confusing but I'm sure you'll all see a point in there somewhere.

Underage Drinking
You just contradicted yourslef there mate =D> Care to explain how I CONTRADICTED myself, mate  EDIT Perhaps you should try it before commenting on it. Maybe I don't feel any need to try it? I'm entitled to my own opinion whether or not I've been drunk before. The original post was asking where my stance was on underage drinking, and I gave it. I personally don't really understand drinking to socialize. I have plenty of fun with my friends without alcohol. I don't really feel like I've really heard any understandable excuse to be drunk. My_Eggs: Pretending like you're going to commit suicide on PM's is really cool. I wonder why? You are entitled to your opinion, it dosen't make it any more valid than someone who has experience with alcohol, though. I'm wondering how sure you really are that alot of people can't really help doing stupid things while drunk, having had no experience being intoxicated. Do you get that from movies or your friends? If it's the latter, how old are they?

Underage Drinking
Perhaps you should try it before commenting on it. Granted, people do stupid things on alcohol but people I hang out with are, for the most part, responsible. You learn to realise drinking because you enjoy the drinks and to socialise while concious is more fun than drinking to get hammered beyond belief. It's not exactly like other drugs where there is a definate one-size-fits-all result. In other words, not everyone downs half a carton and feels the urge to go pee in a cop car or jump of a roof or whatever. Even when drunk, most people I know of realise that's a total party ruiner. Don't let movies shape your perception on what alcohol does to people. People do stupid things w/o alcohol too ;) Of course. :P The kind of things you'd think they'd be doing after a carton, but nope, some people can do stupid things and persist at doing stupid things while sober. :wall: :P

Wats your real life inventory?
It may not be physically addictive, but I had a mate who did it and went loco. He had to eventually seek help, we no longer talk. Ever since then I've got a lot against it because in a sense, it lost me a good friend. :( Well, he was more likely to mix it with LSD...but basically the same thing, sort of... Yeah, i had a friend die when he took E once. Now whenever i hear of a friend of mine taking it i punch them and call them stupid and tell them to remember Eric. No water can kill you; too much water can kill you. The come downs aren̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t worth it and can really screw with your mind the effects can be permanent. Not to mention screw up your jaw muscles too. Arguements like this always just spiral towards name calling. Taking drugs, any drugs, is a personal choice. Let's just leave it at that? Call it a personal risk. People saying things like taking E is safe are ignorant to who makes the stuff. A girl in Sydney died from impurities in an ecstacy tablet a few months ago and it has happened before. All in all, I don't care if anyone takes drugs. It is, as you say, a personal choice, but if people go around saying things like it's safe or there's no risk involved or it's not a big deal, they kind of have thier head in the sand. JIMMIE about 6 posts up pretty much summed it up accurately. I'm basically only saying this because this forum has some younger people who are more easily influenced.

I've heard beer (in moderation) is healthy for you too, but granted, it's probably not got as good antioxidant qualities as wine does.

Underage Drinking
You ever figured out how many burgers a beer equals in terms of carbonhydrates? They've been showing the comparison on TV around here and it's kind of frightening. Fair cop, I'm probably wrong there. I'd happily take a look at figures you have them as I don't think I've ever seen nutritional information on the side of a beer. :P #-o
