  1. I'm not going to immediately slap the 'bad mother' tag on her, but it's not the best parenting, in my opinion. As Assassin said, there are plenty of mentally 'handicapped' sickos in this world these days who aren't seriously dealt with like they should be. Child molesting types are some of the select few who have little to no chance of reform (if I remember correctly).
  2. "Johnny Five is alive" Umm...right... My rude awakening came at 2:30am one Saturday in August a few years ago. My friend ran into my flat (apartment) and into my room to wake me up because the building was on fire. If they had been five minutes later they would've been too late. It was a really strange experience but it gave me a huge reality check. I've had a totally different outlook on life since then. Scary stuff, glad you're ok. :ohnoes: Anyway rude wakeups... Usually it's just some noise outside like a garbage truck or some people being really loud in thier house. Nothing special but it annoys the hell out of me. There's something so unhealthy feeling about being denied sleep. -.- :?
  3. If I were him and I didn't get to do what I trained so hard for, I'd be spewing, to put it bluntly. He should get to go regardless of any royal ties.
  4. To clarify a few things, the coldest we've got is a fraction of 1 Kelvin, as is my understanding. The reason an object would 'dissapear' at 0 K would be (as my best guess) that there would be no EM radiation exciting electrons of the object, thus making it effectively invisible. I doubt it would infinetely shrink; not all trends are constant. Yeah that's right, and interestingly when we cool down certain particles to a fraction of a billionth of a degree above 0 Kelvin, they display curious properties, and all fall into the same energy state, showing superfluid properties. See Bose-Einstein Condensate. Way cool. :D :P Good ol' Einstein had a hand in quite a few things early on last century didn't he. :)
  5. Maybe I'm way off with this speculation, but then would that make the actual part with mass less than the size of a proton? What part has mass and what part is just dust or all that space junk being pulled in by the massive gravity?
  6. I recently saw them play live and I see why you chose them (white pony reference in sig). :) :P Anyway go for some Pantera. I suppose they'd be... metalcore with solos lol. I got no idea what to classify them as to be honest. #-o Any help?
  7. Exactly. People these days have the mindset that fame is success at the highest order and that couldn't be furthur from the truth in my opinion. I'm personally more annoyed at the apparant leniency (sp?) that famous people get from the law as apposed to your regular everyday bloke. Famous people take drugs and they have 'issues' where if I take drugs (I don't), I'm a 'criminal'. Give me a break. :-X

  9. Like I said, it's a glitch in the matrix... :P
  10. How insecure of her. LOL. Anyway, happy Cinco de Mayo people. You'll have to excuse my Australian-ness, though; what is it? Edit: I googled it. :
  11. It's not really a superstition, but after handling any rubbish I wash my hands. I also hold my breath when opening any bin or generally when handling biological waste. I also make an effort not to breathe through my mouth or touch my face on public transport, while in the city or while in any bathroom. I'm not really OCD, more of a germophobe. I'd say it's payed off thus far as I haven't been sick in around half a year so far...
  12. What a malevolant bastard. What a pathetic excuse for a man. I wasn't happy with getting my pants found so I'll sue a family business for 65 million... Someone needs to slap him up the side of the bleeping head. [/frustration] -.-
  13. They're all just glitches in the matrix... :anxious:
  14. Excuse me for a moment here, I need to pick up the pieces of my brain that fell out. Lol, me too. =P~ :P
  15. I've often thought if I ever saw a small group of people beating up some poor bloke for no reason and I was insane/drunk enough, I'd go in there and expect to seriously hurt them to get it through thier thick ignorant skulls that it's not funny or cool or whatever other pathetic excuse they can come up with. This is the real sadist coming out in me, but I'd take pleasure in making life hell for any and all people like that. I'd go so far as to be the next Hitler and them the new Jews if need be. You can call me sick, sadistic or hypocritical. Irrational thoughts usually produce those results. I won't call you sick, sadistic, or hypocritical, but I will ask you something. How many days have you gone to school and cried because the kids are mean to you? That's the only thing that I can think of that would make you so sad and mad. It really makes no sense, I mean you talk like your 98lbs w/ no friends, but then you talk about beating someone's skull in and being the next Hitler. What a joke. Read a bit better next time please. He is not saying he would be hitler, it was an analogy. He is saying he hates those that just cause violence to others for no reason at all. Also please note he said if he was insane or drunk enough. You have some really interesting opinions, grapes. Has it managed to hit you yet that not all of us are in high school anymore? Thanks, Nadril, pretty much summed it up for me. :P And grapes, I'm not sad and mad, I had plenty of friends in highschool some of which go to my uni (yay :P ) and I never got beaten up or bullied. I'm not going to, with a rational mind, go up to a bunch of low lifes who are beating up on an innocent and expect to decapitate them all. I'd be the new target if I did that. The whole point of my post was to put across the message of how petty, unfair and senseless unprevoked beatings are. It makes me sick and sad for the human race, hence the rather twisted Hitler reference. As Randy Blythe from Lamb of God wrote in Sacrament (if you have any idea what I'm talking aout :XD: ) - "As for the rest of you (that being 99.9999% of humanity), you are a disease on this planet, festering and rank. You are killing the earth. If I had a genetic bomb that would exterminate you all, I'd drop it now." It's just the way I feel sometimes. If you don't see that too, perhaps you should put the beer down and take a look around. The world, to put it bluntly, is a [bleep]ed up place. Cold hard truth. But hey, I'm an optimist, it's not all bad :P .
  16. From What ive been reading from your posts.....you know way to much about science...thats not a bad thing though...kodous to you! Yeah, I'd like to think I knew a lot :P Well physics is my first love and I did happen to read a good book on black holes and write a lengthy project on them, which is why I know more than average. Most other areas of physics fascinate me. Biology wise (I see you're doing AS?) evolution fascinates me, but other than that I haven't really read beyond the GCSE syllabus. And chemistry is so-so. Damn, i'm cool. Anyway I've rechecked the book, and yeah they do just merge to form a single black hole radiating their deformities away as gravitational waves. What causes them to spiral in together in the first place is the "kick" (like firing a bullet from a gun) of the gravitational waves leaving the black holes. Interestingly, it is not possible to determine anything about the hole's history from it. You can't tell what formed it, matter, antimatter, one star, two stars or even three. Lol @ Ernest. He was one of those sheep lovers from over the ditch. :P But a wicked good scientist. Discovered the nucleus.
  17. Although not much to do with macroevolution, I'll give you a rundown of what I learnt in uni the other day. Firstly, the big bang. I'm no expert on cosmology or serious physics so I'm no expert here. Perhaps god did this one, I really don't know. Secondly, stellar evolution and the formation of the earth. Here's where the fundamental particles begin to condense into atoms and simple molecules (to boil it down a lot) and they, in turn, begin to condense into dense masses called stars, which undergo fusion nuclear reactions to make larger atoms, up to about the element of iron. Out of interest, all of the elements heavier than iron are/were formed through supernovas - super high energy dying stars. Out of all the the wierd and wonderful new elements, planets could come from masses of gas that cooled to a point where it bacame solid. Thirdly, abiogenesis. Life from non life. Compounds thought to have existed at the beginning of earth's history (CH4, NH3, H2, H20, etc) combined with electricity (basically in the form of lightning) can create compounds such as alanine, glutamic acid, (common amino acids found in organisms) other amino acids and complex, oily hydrocarbons. Search for Miller and Urey; they experimented and got these results. After this, these monomers, as they do naturally, became polymers or formed things like polypeptides (protiens) and oily membranes (a crude form of cell membranes found around every cell on the planet). After this protobions formed; very primative resemblances of cells. Then, protobions eventually became real cells with the ability to function and reproduce independantly (these last two are hazy and I didn't add too much detail here). Fourthly, evolution; what this topic is about (well, essentially it's more about macroevolution, but I don't mind at the moment). Natural selection states that organisms best suited to thier environment and those whose mating frequency is higher are biologically fit and have a greater opportunity than organisms not fit to pass on thier genes. This leads to a population evolving, note that individuals never evolve (although they can gain mutations from thier parent/s, which occur naturally, which is the source of genetic variation [among other things]). Now there is much more detail I could go into with this one, but that's basically the mechanism which allows it to happen in a nutshell. I'm not lying to you when I say evolution (this fourth point) is a fact. Search for Hardy-Weinburg equilibrium and it might help you understand that statement a bit more. The section of the theory which is still a theory - macroevolution - is what this topic is about. Essentially a whole bunch of microevolution over time through separation of a population (or it can happen within the same population, but that's a bit more complex) and the subsequent natural selection will lead to new species being formed. All tangible evidence in nature suggests this occuring - comparative anatomy, embryology, DNA sequences (we share 98% of our DNA with chimps and about 200 of our 30,000 genes with certain bacteria!) and biochemistry along with the fossil record and the geological time scale (reinforced through radiometric dating) shows this. Hope this helps you a bit. Note that I didn't exclude god. You can always reconcile your beliefs with science, no matter what they are. Just remember to listen to what scientists say about science and what pastors say aout religion. There is no doubt in the scientific community that evolution happened/is happening. On a final note, I'd prefer we keep this purely a scientific discussion, forget I even said god or religion if that at all helps.
  18. Star Wars is awesome. I prefer the older trilogy, though. The acting in the new trilogy just seems second class to be honest. Great special effects, though. When I first saw the war scene at the beginning of episode 3, I was in awe =P~ .

  20. In my opinion, yes. What I posted above is not my mindset, just one that people with guns may hold. I added in that they needed security because of guns to make a point.
  21. Protection form people with guns. :wall: Although they are used for sport, they are mainly flogged as an impliment of security, which, coincidentally, is needed because of people with guns. LOL. But I'm sure other people have different uses.
  22. I'd always thought that protiens fold into thier confirmational (3-D) shape due to electrical interactions of thier amino acids 'R' groups. I'm probably missing something...
  23. Yeah... There's probably some truth in that. I mean, I want to hear thier side of the story, I invite them to explain why and no results so far. They seem so damn sure that it's impossible sometimes I just want to know why and what barriers prevent it. Gotta keep being optimistic...
