  1. Then why is it that I remain happy simply by knowing that there is no god, that this life is all we get and that everyone should look out for themselves? I have never been depressed, and I have never had to ask myself any of the difficult questsions of life. I already have my answers. As for the other things you said, I do not think of myself as a saint and hence I will simply enjoy not being a good person instead of trying to become one.
  2. I stopped believing in god at roughly the same time as I started to view the world with the eyes of a sceptic. I guess that was when I was around 7-8 years old. However, I have always been a member of the church against my will (no, I didn't suffer because of it...). Untill today, as I have now officially left the church. None of my tax-money will now go to religious fanatics, and it makes me feel good. The reason I actually could be arsed leaving the church was because I read an article about pro-choice people and realized I was superior to them and didn't want to be part of the same faith. So no, I am not religious, nor agnostic. I know that there is no god. There are some positive aspects of religion though, so it still has some purpose. For example, some christian articles/books that are meant to be serious are completely hillarious. Not to mention the fact that it's funny beyond words to piss religious people off now and then, which I hope this post did.
  3. I was a beta tester for the game in a pretty early stage of the game, and it was kinda odd. Perhaps because every stage of the tutorial was accompanied by 20 of these cool error-messages that popped up on the screen. Not trying that game again ever, I don't care if those bugs were fixed 2 years ago ;P
  4. There's always a chance that the installer wrote bootloader information to your MBR. In order to restore the original MBR, using a bootdisk with the Fdisk application will do the trick. The command is simply "fdisk /mbr" if I recall correctly.
  5. I believe it's how much you are worth, in United States Dollars.
  6. You seem to be missinformed. You see, in order to be able to form an educated idea of the events of the world it is not necesary to watch or read every article/movie published on the subject. As an example: There are several documentaries that claim man never landed on the moon. I find this claim stupid beyond belief, and I belittle those who believe this without even having seen the actual documentaries themselves, though I have heard the arguments used in these vidoes aswell as the counter-arguments countless times. To continue with the examples, let's assume someone here claims the Holocaust never occured. As proof he claims to have seen a video. Now, anyone with half a brain would realize how ignorant that claim is and they would do so without having watched said media, simply because it is an historical fact. You can alter a video, but you cannot alter history (though you can alter the interpretation if it). Let us assume there is a video in circulation which proves beyond reasonable doubt that those who captured the planes used in the WTC attack were not Muslims. It wouldn't take long before newspapers all around the world found this, and since the #1 goal for the majority of the newspapers out there is to make money, most of them would publish it. Yes, it is possible that a few newspapers would lie to cover this up because they have an agenda. But all of them? That is not very realistic. However, claiming that the media conspires to hide the truth from the masses is one of the most popular excuses used by the conspiracy theorists. There is also the fact that with the technology available today it is possible to modify video footage in nearly any way you can imagine. If a professional were to cut together a video where you could see who shot Kennedy, neither you nor me would be able to see if it was authentic or not. Hence we reach the following conclusions: - It is impossible to read/watch every article/video of a subject, and hence it is not necesary to truly understand the events of the world. - It is not particularily likely that the media is controlled by a world-wide conspiracy seeking to put blame on Islam. - It is possible to create digital "proof". Because of the above, I find it unnescesary to "respect your belief". It is just another conspiracy theory, and shall be belittled as such. You ARE being fooled, and I assure you that one day you will be aware of that. However, I doubt that day will be today, and because of this I can only argue for the benefit of others who may be influenced by similar videos. The world would be a better place if people were more sceptical to things they see. Edit: Of course there is a slight possibility that it is true, just as there is a slight possible that I shot Kennedy, that man didn't land on the moon and that the media is being controlled by a worldwide conspiracy. It's just not particularily likely.
  7. Know that there are not 2 "types" of muslims. Know that there are several additional ones. The main difference between the two most popular versions of Islam is a different idea of who should be in charge (there are most likely websites which explains this compliacted historical issue in detail, and hence I fail to see the need go into details), mainly of spiritual issues. There is no factual basis to what you are implying, namely that Shia is a more violent faith than Sunni. You see, Shia muslims also follow the prophet Muhammed and strive to be peacefull. Yes, it is within the realm of possibilties that there are more Shiite extremists than Sunni extremists. However, using that suspicion as grounds for claiming that Sunni equals peace and Shia equals oppression is unbelievable foolish. I am of the belief that there have been more Catholic extremists than Protestantic extremists. This does not by any means imply that Catholics are more violent than Protestants. The same applies to Islam. For your information I, and a lot of other enlightened souls who do not consider an online video factual evidence strong enough to invalidize information provided to us over the course of several years, believe you to be the kind of person who is easily fooled by theories of conspiracy because it makes them feel special.
  8. AVI is just a container-type for all sorts of movie-files, you might want to be more specific. However, I find it likely that DIKO will suit your purposes: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downl ... o_424.html
  9. I intend to take a masters degree in economics. I like money.
  10. If you do not have any idea whatsoever of what it really is, I seriously suggest not installing it.
  11. Reboot into safe mode and do a full system scan.
  12. In this day and age, simply claiming you want a board which is better to overclock with doesn't work. What is it that you don't have but need? Increased FSB? RAM-voltage? Divider-range? Chipset/CPU-voltage? AGP/PCI lock? With the right dividers, most socket 939 boards should be able to get any Athlon 64 processor above 2.6ghz, with any memory. I don't suppose you are trying to overclock while maintaining a 1:1 cpu/memoryperformance ratio? If so, I would recomend against it. It's not worth the money. In any case, additional details would really help.

    Halo 2: PC

I find this irritating. I do not intend to play Halo 2 ever, but the fact remains that obviously Microsoft intends to force users to switch to the next release of Windows. This is perfectly fine when done by creating advantages for the new system, but it is not perfectly fine when accomplished by creating artificial limits for the old system. I for one do not intend to switch to Windows Vista as soon as it is released, since I do not enjoy doing the initial testing. Hence, I do not believe that it is fair to force any other consumer to become one of these testers. If there are technical reasons for this, I am willing to change my mind. I doubt it however. It's just another way to earn money by limiting consumers.
  14. I hereby predict that at least one horrible catastrophy will occur in 2006. Nations will be filled with fear, thousands will die. If I'm right, do I get to be a prophet too?

    Go Yahoo

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/0 ... index.html What can I say? While it may seem like "just bussiness", think about it. Let's assume you were living in a country where there was no freedom, the politicians ruled like gods. You were trying to spark debate on whether this was truly right on the internet, and suddenly one of the companies you hire for internet services send this information to the government, allowing them to arrest you. Once again, glorious tyranny has prevailed. Would you want to support such a company? I wouldn't, and I don't see this as any different to what Yahoo is doing. They can blame whichever part of the company they want for all I care, I for one want nothing to do with a company who would gladly betray honest men and women fighting for their rights to fascistic regimes. Whether you personally consider China a police state or not is pretty irrelevant, the point remains the same. Hence, I intend to avoid using any service offered by Yahoo, including websites hosted by or affiliated with it, and I encourage you to do the same. By using these sites, you are supporting these actions financially. Remember that this is not the first time this has happened. I don't particularily care for Yahoos excuses, if the laws of the country force you to partake in horrible actions, you simply do not operate in that country.
  16. I just watched the morning news on TV, and apparently some newspaper in one of the countries where the riots are strongest are hosting a competition to create cartoons offensive to Jews. Apparently this is supposed to prove a point. I think it will, but not in the way they intend. So, who here does not intend to burn down an embassy because of that? *raises hand* http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/0 ... index.html
  17. Hell yeah, I'm totally [developmentally delayed]ed. You just don't get it, do you? They don't have rights. Each and every one of the violent protesters are an enemy of freedom, they don't have any rights at all. Those who cannot make a difference between wanting to burn down something and doing it aren't even people, they are animals. They can protest as god damn much as they want, but as soon as they attack an embassy which belongs to my people, I will consider that an attack against ME. So yeah, I'm a fanatic. I will fight to do the death for the rights of each and everyone to speak his mind. I don't give a damn about religion, I do give a damn about freedom. I can't believe a guy who seriously thinks burning down embassies is an actual part of Islam is calling me stupid. But maybe that's what you get for keeping the weaker specimens of humanity safe from natural selection.
  18. How the hell is harrasing people just because they happen to work at a lame restaurant runny?
  19. I see no problem with self-censoring topics that can cause problems. However, I see a MAJOR problem with others censoring such topics. Who is to decide which topics are suitable and which are not, the opinion-police? I don't care if they publish comics of the most horrible sort, I value freedom much higher than this kind of ethics. Freedom is not a priviledge that you or anyone can take away (which the term 'responsible use' seems to suggest), it is a right.
  20. Each and every one responsible for this attack on liberty should be hunted down like animals, as should those in power who are now encouraging acts of violence, including the leader of Hamas. I don't care whatsoever if people want to belive in a religion, keep my rights away from it. Freedom of speech must NEVER be allowed to be restricted by fanatics.
  21. We haven't actually had a bomb in school, but some guys who robbed a bank claimed to have planted a bomb in a vehicle on the parking lot. Obviously it was just to force to police to spend resources securing the parking lot instead of following them, but it was enough for them to close one of the school buildings. Normally I wouldn't mind, but my jacket and stuff were in a locker that building. Walking home in the middle of the winter in t-shirt ftw.
  22. Will there be the Beatles reunion? No, they are all hanging out with that J-guy =(
  23. You'll be invited to an awesome party at my cave in Hell. Iron Maiden will perform and Dubya will serve drinks. We will discuss philosophy and plan our attempt to overthrow Heaven. Either that or we'll just cease to exists. Humans are just like any other lifeform, when it ends it ends. That's all there is to it, and that's all we need. Afterlife-theories are for the weak and deluded. Atheistic arrogance is for the strong and deluded.
  24. http://packetstormsecurity.org/filedesc ... day.c.html Pretty serious flaw, so unless you want to risk being the victim of an exploit make sure to update your winamp client. Well, or switch to foobar2000. That is all.
