  1. I praise you for your effort. When you reach lvl 85, remind me to give you a present... say, a rune set? :) btw, I suggest you save up your ess up so you can sell it high, or even better, alch them for even more c$$$.
  2. A well written guide for time saving. tipit really need more guides like these.
  3. A 250gp harddrive costs less than $100 a pop now-a-day. I don't see how can JaGex use file size as an argument.
  4. If anything, high alch is the main source of new RS gp. It's where RS gets most of its cash!
  5. Thanks for this information, keep us updated will you? :)
  6. When you see fireworks above your head :P When you train a good noob to gather materials for you
  7. I think there's some misunderstanding on what the GDP means. That will give the total capital of runescape, which is different than GDP. GDP is a measurement of how much products are produced over a time period, like a week, or a year. Using the total experience or items within game will just give the total product throughout the entire game's history. Woodcutting and mining would not count towards the GDP because they're intermediate goods, ie. they are made into bows and armor/weapons. Similarly, nature runes will also not count towards GDP because it's consumed as part of making a raw into a final product (such as magic bow into money).
  8. Wouldnt this require doubling of all character models? If that's true, it's just way too much trouble.
  9. I agree with OP. If you ever been to a foreign country, you'd be in the same boat as OP's friend. Runescape is a whole new world, so it takes time to learn to navigate and figure out where you are. I agree improvements are needed. The other's suggestion on improvement in the newcomer map is definitely something Jagex should look into.
  10. How would you calculate the Gross Domestic Product within Runescape? A recent article of the TipIt Times described a clever way to calculate the total cash available in Runescape through the usage of the High Score table. Can something be done similarly on to calculate the GDP as well? Why find the GDP? [qoute=wikipedia]"GDP is a measurement of economy production of a particular territory (in this case, the world of Runescape). GDP is defined as the total value of final goods and services produced within a territory during a specified period. If we can find an accurate way to calculate the GDP of RS, it will serve as a better indicator to how well the RS economy is doing and gives stronger backing to discussions about inflation. Components of GDP: in context of runescape, this means that while food bought from a fisherman (that's eaten later on) counts towards GDP, but dragon leather does not. This is where I am stuck at. How should the GDP be calculated? Should we based on the approach similar to that of total cash, using the high score as base? If so, which skill to include? To exclude? How do we convert the experience points into gp? Morever, GDP is calculated over a time period. How long should each cycle be? How do we measure how much experience (thus gp) has the economy generated? May I have some help?
  11. This gilding idea sounds more like a new skill than an addition to crafting. From my view, crafting is already complete as a skill, much like smithing and mining. Also, why the low level armor use member gems? A bit ironic, dont you think?
  12. Oh you have, have you? So, when the game was released openly in January '01, you'd been playing far before then? I think he mean '01, '02, '03, '04, '05 Last time i count, that's 5 years.
  13. You know, for a MMORPG runescape has a really good run already. The end will not be tommorow, but I wouldnt' be surprised for another two or three years. Basically, Runescape would not be scrapped until the subscriber level drop till it's no longer profitable for Jagex. ... and that will take a while.
  14. You know, there are people who played this as a kid, and now's an adult. I am 19 now, I started at 15.
  15. This might work, but a little complicated for a new player to learn? add me anyways. The bank is due for a overhaul for a long long time.
  16. Good job. A very well written and organized guide. Just for your information, the magic guild tele isn't that much faster (because it involves an extra click, as well as needing to find the right magician out of 4).
  17. http://www.slickdeals.net not a merchant site, but a forum where people post good deals via net or b&m similar to http://www.fatwallet.com
  18. Yes Never, muahahahahah~ :D btw, it looks like chat-addict dont allow proxies. Next idea?
  19. Have you try defragging the computer? Also, check to see if you are using too much harddrive space, below 75% is usually good. Finally, you might wanna disable some of the autolaunchers in your startup menu. To do this, go to start-run-"msconfig" check selective startup, click on "startup" tap. get rid of stuff like aim, and so forth. Don't touch anything you dont know about though.
  20. I live in school, mate. You expect I learn 24/7 in my dorm?
  21. I am thinking about returning, but one nagging issue is I was not able to connect to the tip.it chat. It appears that my school has blocked all outbound irc traffic :? Any suggestion on alternative way to get into the chat? It's something that really enriched runescape for me.
  22. Intrinsic - alch value, the amount of gold pieces it represents if you convert it to cash real - it's actual market value minus alch value Might be a confusing use of word.
  23. First of all, I will like to point out to you that this article is discussing on how many gold pieces are in teh RS economy, not how big the RS economy is. Thus, having prior knowledge to economics, or better yet, accounting would help enormously. Now, what Duke written here by "Sink" and "Generator" considers actual gold lost or gained, not cash value. This is because if one player spent 1.2k gp for 5 iron and 10 coal, the gold pieces is not lost from teh economy. It's simply a transfer of gold from one player to another. The only way you can actually LOST gold pieces if it no longer stays within access of any players: ie purchases from stores, repairs, quests, etc. Comparing to real life, Duke's measurement would be the "currency" circulated by the Federal Reserve, which stands at$719.9 billion at 2004. While the figure you're looking for is the national GDP, which is $12 trillion at 2004 Q4. (US economy only) Party Hat is not gold pieces, Halloween Masks are not gold pieces, Steel plates are not gold pieces, only gold pieces are gold pieces.
