A Guide on Monsters to Kill at Certain Levels (Comments)
A few things... 1) You really need to mention that wizards are never fought while wearing armor! Your metal armor increases the magic hits that the wizzies cast on you. So, to get hit less, do not wear armor. Wear nothing, or leather, or dragonhide but not metal. Also, 2) The amount of exp that you get depends on the hit that you do and not on the monsters level. So, why do you suggest training on higher level monsters as your own level goes up? It just means that the monster will take longer to kill and require more food. For fast exp training you want to be constantly killing lower level monsters. That way, you gets hits all the time and don't need much, if any, food to train for hours at a time. Although, for loot training, you will want to kill higher level monsters such as Demons and Giants. 3) You should mention getting the 4 dose strength potion. It's available to free players. The apothecary in Varrock will make it for you for 5 gold and 2 items. You need to get red spider eggs from the end of the Varrock sewers or under the Karamja volcano. (If you are low level then wear nothing and just suicide grab them) You also need limpwort root that drops from Hobgoblins. You can usually pick some up west of the crafting guild or in any spot where Hobgoblins are hunted.

smelting help
Since you are over level 30, you can smelt and smith steel. So, just do that. Steel is popular because the supplies are easily gathered or bought and because you can make decent money from the bars or smithed products. From your stats it looks like you are F2P. If you were a member then I would say go get a members ruby ring of forging and do iron. Otherwise mine/buy 2 coal for every 1 iron ore and smelt steel bars in the Al-kharid furnace using the nearby bank. To go from level 36 to 40 requires, at most, 226 steel bars used. (226 iron with 452 coal) After you have your 226 steel bars then go to the Varrock west anvils just south of the west bank. Smith your steel bars there. You will always get the same amount of exp per bar used so the only reason to make different products is to be able to get a slightly higher price for them when selling them. You can sell them to the general store (yuck), other players, or to specialty shops. Specialty shops exist for Plate armor (Varrock), swords (Varrock), legs (Al-Kharid), Maces (Fally), Chain (Fally), Scimitars (Al-Kharid), Shields (Fally), Helmets (Barb Village), Baxe (Port Sarim), etc. Eventually, you will want to make only Steel plate and then Hi-alch it for direct cash. Hope this helps.

bored with runescpae :(
You could always try the FREE version of Everquest. You can play as long as you like for free on that server. You start off in the Gloomingdeep mines and the zone is intended to be the "newbie to the game" training place. The download takes all night on a dialup modem :x The graphics are so much better than RSs. If you decide that you want the full game then you can pay $20 for the EQ Titanium edition and then pay $14 or so per month. Although you will eventually get bored, it does offer a free peek at another game. You could also consider Guild Wars. IIRC, After paying $50 for the game the monthly fee is zero.

range xp!
Do any of those calcs include the effects of picking up and re-using your arrows?

range xp!
Well, you have to know the max hit by level and arrow type, the exp per level, and how to handle picking up your arrows. At level 56, with Addy arrows you have a max hit of about 10. We can assume that you will average half of that hit or 5. You earn 4x that in Range exp. So you will average about 20 range exp per shot. If you pick up your arrows then you will be able to use each one about 1/(1-p) times. p means the portion of arrows that you pick up. I use about 0.75 for it. So 1/(1-0.75) = 4 In other words, I can use each arrow about 4 times before it's gone. So the total exp earned by 1 Addy arrow over it's lifetime at level 56 ranging is about 4*20 (from above) = 80 To reach level 57 you need 19214 exp So that means you need about 19214/80 = 241 arrows. Now, just repeat that for each level until you reach 70. ;) Btw, you should start hitting 11's at about level 61 and 12's at level 68 Hope this helps.

curse training?
It depends on how you define "Best" If you mean "easiest to autocast and be AFK" then yes, Fire Strike is good. If you mean "most cost effective" then Curse is best. If you mean "highest exp per cast" then enchanting diamond ammies is good etc., etc, etc If I to choose between Fire Strike and Curse to raise magic then I would choose Curse. Fire strike averages about 19 mage exp per cast but Curse always gives 29 mage exp per cast. The cost for both is about the same and all required runes can be made in F2P. But, if you do use Curse then make sure that you wear full armor and be prepared for a lot of clicking. Hope this helps.

Power-ranging Question F2P
All you really need is to shoot from a safe spot. For a level 12, you could try the back yard of the monastery. You can shoot from behind the fence at the monks and then run out and gather your arrows when he's dead. As a bonus, all of the monks will heal you for free if you talk to them. You could also try the Al-Kharid palace guards. Same deal, shoot from behind the fence. Many monsters will never walk outside of a certain region. So, if you shoot from just outside that region, it's completely safe. (The Mossies on Crandor are like that) So you may be able to do city guards that way. You just have to find the right spot to shoot from. In general just shoot from behind walls, fences, across water, etc or from just outside their wander region. Hope this helps.

how many addy arrows for 99 ranged?
Well, if we assume that you have an average hit of Max/2 and that you pick up about 75% of your arrows, then I calculate about 685600. hehe i can tell you with that amount of arrows i cant get 99 ranged x2 #-o Ahh, you're right. I added my cumulative results by mistake. The right number is 92158 Sorry.

most useless item in runescape? F2P only
Is that available to F2P only players?
-
A note about the new poll...
Round 2.5 to 2...then you can pick the "1-2 years" option.

most useless item in runescape? F2P only
Used in the legends quest... I don't know if F2P only can even get any.

I found the EXP/Level Formula!
If you read the complete thread you'll see that we know 2 perfect formulas...

I found the EXP/Level Formula!
Actually the number is 2^(1/7) which is 1.104089... and that comes straight out of Phil's formula... That's because it doesn't exist. If the exp at each level were some constant times the previous level, then that is actually an exponential function overall. But we know that the true function is an exponential plus a polynomial. At higher levels the exponential part of the function dominates and so your constant times previous level works well. But, at lower levels the polynomial dominates and there is no simple constant that works well. Hope this helps.

Power-ranging Question F2P
I always liked training on the Lesser Demons on top of Crandor Island. There are safe spots in the east and north of their area. If you do it right then you won't need any food at all. If you cast a Curse on the Lesser's then you can make them walk over to stand near your safe spot. Then you can start shooting them with arrows. After they die, about 75% of your arrows and all of the loot from the kill will be in a single pile right in front of you, so you may as well pick up your arrows. That will give you about 4x the number of shots if you do. This way you don't have to run all over their area trying to gather arrows. Just cast that Curse first. It doesn't even have to "land" to work. It just has to get them mad enough to go over to your favorite safe kill spot. Hope this helps.

most useless item in runescape? F2P only
Man I love that potion! Where do you get it from? Best Item Ever :-w IIRC, the Apothecary in Varrock gives them out for free. Just go and talk to him. (He also does the F2P strength potion as well)

pirate, under estimated? more research added
Yeah, I always liked training on Pirates. It's pretty easy to kill non-stop for hours and hours without needing any food. Are you killing the F2P ones in the cave that leads to the Blurite, Ice Giants, and Ice warrior cave? If so, did you notice that 1 pirate in particular appears to drop gems more often than any of the others...

most useless item in runescape? F2P only
Well, lets see: Ashes are used in the Prince Ali rescue quest. Tiles, AFAIK, have no use. The free Potion, AFAIK, has no use. Blurite ore is used in the Knight's sword quest. The reward is good smithing exp. Zamorak wine can be sold to P2P players. Spade is required in the F2P Pirate's treasure quest to dig in the Fally park and also to get back your F2P zombie head. Perhaps the most useless F2P items are those that can't be sold, traded, or used in quests. So, Draynor grave skull, has no F2P use. Poison cleaning cloth (can be made by F2P players), has no F2P use.

I found the EXP/Level Formula!
There have been a lot of posts on the Experience vs Level formula and using Search can reveal a wealth of information. Nevertheless... The Experience vs Level equation appears to follow this function from "Phil". I don't know where Phil got that equation. A post by Wallyweams explained how to manipulate Phil's formula into a more conventional form. Basically, the steps are: 1) Replace Floor(Stuff) with (Stuff + 1/2) The Floor function throws data away so we have to add back in a sort of average value for what was thrown away. 2) Perform the Sum function (that's the funny looking E thingy) using formulas from here. 3) Clean up the resulting expression and you end up with Exp ~= A*2^(L/7) + B*L^2 + C*L + D In other words, the proper form of the Experience vs Level function is an exponential plus a polynomial. The constants A, B, C, and D come straight from Phil's formula. The trouble with this answer is that it's not 100% accurate so we need to do step 4 4) Do a "Least Squares" curve fit on the basic form from step 3. The idea here is that we need to fix what we did in step #1. We do that by adjusting the values of A, B, C, and D until we get good results. Wally went ahead and did that except he went and made it perfect all the way to over level 126 (which is where the 200 million experience cap is). To do that he increased the polynomial until it was 5th degree. His final form that gives 100% accuracy is: This version of the formula shows us a few things -- It's basically an exponential function -- the needed experience, roughly, doubles every 7 levels. That means if you have level 50 in a skill then you have to earn, roughly, all of that experience all over again just to reach level 57. We could also use other functions for the formula (polynomial, rational polynomials, exponential of a polynomial, etc) But Wally's form is nice because it is derived straight from Phil's form. That is, it's a continuous form of Phil's equation. Now that we know a continuous form of the function that suggests that the inverse of the function would be logarithmic. For example, here is an inverse Experience function. Let E be your experience Then compute x = naturallog(E+1) The your level is approximately Level = (A*x^5 + B*x^4 + C*x^3 + D*x^2 + E*x + 1)/(F*x^4 + G*x^3 + H*x^2 + J*x + 1) where A, B, C, D, and E are 0.00565991302624555 -0.0980045250107375 0.683889491465737 -2.15204562908116 2.48782566542775 and F, G, H, and J are 0.000567384324887069 -0.00650538625289637 0.0415346760409815 -0.201061667538983 The inverse Experience function is nice because it tells you how far you are through a level. (Although there are easier ways to do that) For the inverse function we use the Natural Log function to "straighten out" the curve and then we fit it to a ratio of polynomials. A ratio of polynomials was used instead of a single polynomial because having a polynomial in the denominator allows us an extra amount of "wiggleness" to better fit the function. So, if anyone cares, there it is. Sorry in advance for all of the boring and confusing stuff. Hope this helps. (And yes, the numbers are ugly.)

question about silverlight sword
It depends on what you are fighting. If you are fighting a Demon then the Silverlight would be best. However, at your level, you probably won't fight many demons. (The base stats of the Silverlight are almost the same as a Steel longsword) So, the Mith swords would be much better for general purpose use. Use the Mith long sword if (stab) fighting a chain mail wearing monster, otherwise, the Mith scimmy is a good, fast, all around (slash) weapon. (Btw, you can always buy another Silverlight for 500 gp from Sir Prysin) Hope this helps. (all pictures by DroolMAN)

curse training?
Hmmm, I wear full metal armor, green dragon vambraces, and an earth staff. With level 81 magic and a -65 magic attack stat, I always fail when I curse the Varrock sewer zombies.

Fastest xp at 86 combat
I always liked doing Pirates for non-stop melee experience. Since you get exp for each hit and not for the level of the monster, you might as well fight in a place with a lot of frequently spawning lower level monsters. The cave before the blurite cave has about 9 pirates that spawn there. Since they are lower level, you probably won't even need food. Drops are mostly Iron junk. Lesser's have higher defense and can hurt you as well. I wouldn't train on those.

Lost my Anti dragon shield
Yes, because that explains some of the communication issues... Hmmm, I'll have to try that... Yeah, that would make sense provided that untradeable items can't be noted. Well, my point in explaining the method is to show how it can be done. Some players like to keep extra dragonfire shields, silverlight, ghostspeak, etc in their bank. It's a useful trick to know since Runescape normally hinders getting more than 1 of those kinds of items.
