  1. Zero Combat level 100, playing for 3 years now. Yeah, I'm very careful and I always research things as best I can before I start fighting something new.
  2. 360 steel bars would do it...
  3. It would take 787041 big bones to reach level 98...
  4. You could try to sell the Zammy wines in the Potions market forum. Earth strike averages about 15.5 mage exp per cast but Curse always gives 29 mage exp no matter what. Hope this helps.
  5. I haven't mined Runite ore for awhile but, IMHO, It's about as fast as Mith mining. I think that Jagex made it faster than Addy because all F2Pers that mine Runite ore must do it in a PKing area. Takes about 20 minutes or so to respawn depending on server population. Hope this helps.
  6. Fire strike gives 11.5 + 2*HitDone mage exp. The max hit of FS is about 8 with an average of about 4 so your average exp would be 11.5 + 2*4 = 19.5 Curse always gives 29 mage exp which is very cost effective. Otherwise, use the Tip It magic exp chart to guide you. You can get fast Exp with Teleports but getting the runes could be expensive. You can get fast Exp with Hi-alch but now you need lots of things worth Hi-alching. (To limit your gp losses) In general, faster Exp is gonna cost you more. Either in time or money. Hope this helps.
  7. Well, the good thing is that you can use the 50% protection ability The bad thing is that every 8 prayer levels will raise your combat by 1 level. So level 43 prayer will give you an extra 5 or 6 levels and level 52, 6 or 7. Hope this helps.
  8. I'm sorry, I was wrong. The magic exp is Exp = BaseExp + 2*Hitdone The formula for Melee is Exp = 4*Hitdone Sorry for the confusion
  9. Yes. You need your talisman and a "blank" tiara.
  10. Unfortunately, this only muddied the waters a bit because the knowledge base is wrong. The base magic experience for fire bolt is 22.5 It's easy enough to check. You can put on any full metal armor to get at least -65 magic attack and then go and cast on a monster. You will fail every time and earn only the base magic exp. 20 casts of Fire bolt will earn you 450 exp which is 22.5 for each cast. True The exp can be given all to Magic or split equally between Magic and Defense depending on the casting style that you use with your staff. IIRC, the third choice in casting, Defense, will split the overall exp. Hope this helps (Edited for accuracy)
  11. That's double edged advice. Here's why: Suppose monster "A" has 25 hitpoints and monster "B" has 75 hitpoints. Now, since monster A is a lower level monster, it's defense is weak as well and it's easy to hit and kill. Suppose you can kill it in 15 seconds and earn 4*25 = 100 melee exp. So if you had a plentiful supply of "A"'s then you could earn 24000 melee exp per hour. Monster B, being a higher level monster, has a higher defense and is harder than "A" to hit. Suppose you can kill it in 60 seconds and earn 4*75 = 300 melee exp. So if you had a plentiful supply of "B"'s then you could earn 18000 melee exp per hour. So, all other things being equal, you would earn more exp in a hour when fighting the lower level monster. However, all things are not equal. Namely, higher level monsters are, in general, not as plentiful as lower level monsters. So you would have more dead time waiting for a higher level to spawn and hope that another player doesn't get the monster first. Hence, the 18000 exp per hour is probably optimistic. Also, you could use very little food when fighting the lower level monster. But you would use a lot more food when fighting the higher monster. Hence, you would have, again, more dead time running to the bank for food when fighting the higher level monster. So, your chances of reaching 18000 per hour are even less. The bottom line is that since you earn exp per hit that you do, and not according to the level of the monster, you will probably earn exp faster whening fighting monsters much lower than you own level. It all depends on how fast you can kill the monster. Just go ahead and note your starting exp and then fight for 30 minutes. Note your ending exp. Then do that for different monsters. If a monster that gives 3x the exp takes longer than 3x to kill, then you should fight the lower monster if you want the fasest exp. Now, if you want the loot, then fight the higher level monsters. Otherwise, you are probably better off fighting lower level monsters. Hope this helps Btw, monster "A" is similar to a Pirate outside the Blurite cave and monster "B" is similar to a Lesser Demon.
  12. You don't 1 hit coal at level 85 mining either...
  13. Fire Bolt averages 34.5 mage exp per cast Crumble Undead averages 39.5 mage exp per cast So if you cast Crumble, then you did the right thing. Hope this helps
  14. Yes, south of Rimmington along the shore is a great spot for willows. You can chop and then make a burn line south of the buildings or run to the general store and sell them. Also, if you want to raise Firestarting then buying from the Rimmington store at 12 gp each and burning around the town is fast exp. Hope this helps.
  15. You can check Tip It's mining maps database for Mithril ore rock locations. Hope this helps
  16. Mostly True No. You can't cast at all if it's not one of the allowed undead monsters. Except that there are a few well documented errors in that guide in spite of numerous corrective posts in the Website Update & Corrections forum...
  17. For F2P, The Al-Kharid furnace is closest to the bank. And yes, the Varrock west anvils are good. Some players, not me, advocate mining in the Dwarven mines, then use superheat to smelt the ores, and then use the anvils in the west part to smith. I always thought it a waste of Nature runes. Hope this helps
  18. No, it's 22.5 without chaos gauntlets. The long term average exp given by Fire Bolt is about 34.5. True True Good advice, you ought to follow it...
  19. A lot of confusion in this thread. The base exp for Crumble undead was cut in half more than 1 year ago. But the overall exp from crumble is BaseExp + 2*HitDone with an average exp of about 39. Jagex was fixing an error that they made in the spell. Crumble was giving more Exp, with a lesser rune (Chaos), than the average best Death rune based spell. Since Crumble could be auto-cast with a slayer staff, players were autocasting with full armor on (to fail and keep the monster alive) and getting great exp. So, Jagex cut the base exp in half (now 24.5) to be more in line with the base exp of the other Chaos rune based spells. The base exp of the best Bolt spell is 22.5 So, now the exp earned from Crumble is more in line with Chaos and Death rune based spells. So for F2P players without the Chaos gauntlets we have the following optimistic exp: Mind rune: Fire Strike: 19.5 average exp per cast Body rune: Curse always gives 29 exp per cast Chaos rune: Fire Bolt averages 34.5 exp per cast Chaos rune: Crumble Undead averages 39.5 exp per cast Death rune: Fire Blast averages 50.5 exp per cast The Strike, Bolt, and Blast spells can be Autocast when wielding an elemental staff. Crumble Undead can be auto-cast when wielding the Slayer staff. Btw, the magic exp table that Tip It uses has had the wrong exp value listed for Crumble Undead for a loooong time. Hope this helps
  20. Exactly right! You have the charge, not the ring. That's how Jagex avoided the problem that you are all worrying about.
  21. Damage dealing spell exp is BaseExp + 2*HitDone So, for Crumble Undead it is 24.5 + 2*(0-15) which is 24.5-54.5 Or an expected average of about 39.5 Hope this helps
  22. Every little bit helps. Consider this: Cosmic rune: Sapphire jewelry gives 17.5 mage exp per cast. Mind rune: Fire Strike averages about 18 mage exp per cast. Body rune: (failed) Curse always gives 29 mage exp per cast. Chaos rune: Fire bolt averages about 34 mage exp per cast. Chaos rune: Crumble undead averages about 39 mage exp per cast. So, for F2P players, Curse is the most cost effective way to raise magic. Plus, all of the runes can be made on F2P altars. Hope this helps.
  23. It depends if you are P2P or F2P and on what you define as "best". Give us more info to get a more specific answer. But, for poor F2P players, failed Curse is a reasonably fast and very cost effective way to raise.
  24. I would suggest mining iron (level 15) or coal (level 30) A full load or iron is worth about 2800 or so and coal about 4200 or so. When you get your smithing to level 30 (29 with a dwarven stout) then you can make steel bars. A full load of steel bars can sell for 15000 or so. If you do the knight's sword quest you can jump to level 29 immediately. (according to the Jagex knowledge base) Hope this helps
  25. Personally, I would like to see more cooperative content in Rs. As the author pointed out, much of RS is based on a game model of player vs player. You compete against other players for limited resources or in PvP combat. Most of the cooperation type activities are more in the "free for all" category. That is, a mass, uncoordinated attack in a multi-combat area. There very little finesse or defined roles for players to follow. I would like to see Jagex add the ability of a player to help another player. Targetable or castable heals, strength boosts, accuracy boosts, etc come to mind. Other, much more popular MMORPGs have these abilities in game. Perhaps Jagex should consider refining the roles that we can play in-game to provide for a more diverse play style. Other games that do this charge more $ per month and yet have more members than RS. Jagex might do well to look at what makes other MMORPG more successful. and then provide new playstyle content to attract more players.
