  1. Yes. The mage exp that you earn is BaseExp + 2*HitDone For example, Curse has a base exp of 29 and always "hits" for 0 for a total exp of always 29. Fire strike has a base exp of 11.5 and a max hit of 8 So Fire strike can give anywhere from 11.5 to 27.5 with an average of about 19.5 Also, if you cast with a staff on Def style, then your mage exp is split between Magic and Defense. That's right. Jagex has a different formula for magic than for melee and ranged. They did that because there are plenty of spells that don't do damage at all. (Enchanting, Teleporting, HI-Alching, etc) Hope this helps
  2. It will take you about 11200 Bronze or about 11050 Iron arrows to reach 70 If you use a Curse spell to "pull" the monster over to your safe spot, then you should be able to pick up about 75% of your arrows with 1 click. Hope this helps.
  3. But if you do it right, it only takes 1 click to pick them all back up...
  4. Just remember that if you do pick up your arrows then you can use each one about 4 times. That can save you a lot of money. The trick to efficiently picking up your arrows is to always cast a Curse on the monster first. That will cause the monster to walk over to your safe spot. Once it's there, then you start to range it. After its dead, your arrows are in the loot pile. If you do it this way then you don't have to run all over the area grabbing your arrows. They will be in the loot pile right in front of you. Hope this helps
  5. True, but only 2 Curses give about the same exp as 3 Fire strikes. Over the long run, that will save you thousands of runes. True So, if you want to save on clicking and/or want HP exp too, then Fire Strike is a better choice. But you pay for it by taking far longer to craft the runes and/or by spending more gp to buy the runes. Also, if you want to level your Runecrafting, making Bodies will raise your RC level much faster than Minds will.
  6. That's not a problem at all. You just have to wear (any) metal 4 piece armor, (Full helm, plate, legs, and shield) to get your magic attack stat to -65. If you want to use an elemental staff to save runes then also wear green dragonhide vambraces. That is enough for me, at level 81 magic, to always fail when casting Curse. Hope this helps
  7. Doing that wil be in a way, idiotic. ... He, the op, asked how to make a million using Steel He didn't ask for just any method of making a million... Also, please be careful in you choice of words. Flame wars serve little purpose. True, he could make more money by just selling the ores but he would give up earning any smithing exp from it. So the hidden cost in that approach is that he would fail to level his smithing. And he did specifically ask for a method using a smithing product to get the 1 million. It's gonna take either time or money to get the ores and/or bars. No way around that...
  8. Quicker to run than to drop? The 3 Al-kharid iron rocks don't requires any stepping at all...
  9. You can dig in the blue-ish swamp area in the Lumby swamp where the zombie was. IIRC, that area is east of the npc camp. Hope this helps
  10. Here are the locations of the 23 Yew trees in the F2P world: 4 north-west of Rimmington 3 south of Fally 1 north of Port Sarim 4 between Draynor jail and Lumby castle 1 in Lumby graveyard 1 south of Varrock 3 east of Varrock near Earth altar 1 next to north-east Varrock church 3 north of the Varrock palace 2 south of Edgeville bank Hope this helps.
  11. Here are a few ways to get 1 million gp using steel... 1) Mine 2000 iron and 4000 coal and make 2000 steel bars. Sell the bars for at least 500 gp each to other players. Sell them on world 1 in Fally or Varrock. Or sell them in the Tip It smithing market forum 2) Mine 5000 iron and 10000 coal and make 5000 steel bars. Smith the bars into 1000 steel plates. Sell the plates for 1000 each to other players using the places in #1 3) Mine 5555 iron and 11110 coal and make 5555 steel bars. Smith the bars into 1111 steel plates. Buy 1111 natures runes for 300 each. Hi-alch the 1111 plates for 1333200 gp. The cost of the Natures runes will be about 333300 so your overall profit is 100 go under 1000000 gp. 4) Mine 4170 iron and 8340 coal and make 4170 steel bars. Smith the bars into 834 steel plates. Hi-alch the steel plates for 1000800 gp using Natures runes that you already have. I hope that this gives you a few ideas.
  12. I agree, that's exactly what I did. My technique was to hit the south rock, spin, hit the west rock, spin, hit the north rock, spin to the south and then drop, drop, drop. By that time the first rock has respawned and you start all over again. When you get higher you can 1 hit the iron. It takes about 93000 iron ore to reach 85. Hope this helps
  13. A positive + value means that the stat will be good for you and a negative - value means that it will be bad for you. So + range attack and + magic defense will mean you will be a good ranger with high magic defense. A - range attack with - magic defense means you will be a poor ranger and get hurt badly by magic attacks. Hope this helps
  14. But can you bind curse to a staff? I was wondering that.. Anyone have an answer? What do you mean when you say "bind"? You can't autocast Curse but the Earth staff will save you from buying all of those Earth runes. Hmm nice idea. Maybe I'll do it. Thanks for the tip though. You should check the Tip It magic exp table to compare exp. To get the average exp per cast, just add the "Exp gained" and "max hit" columns together. You will find that the average exp per cast is: Wind Strike: 7.5 Fire Strike 19.5 Curse: 29 Crumble Undead: 39.5 (table has an error for crumble) etc Hope this helps
  15. Look at your Defense and Offense stats when wearing both. If you want to be an effective ranger then wear full green dragonhide. Green dragonhide also offers good magic defense.
  16. Here are some things to consider about dragon-fire breath shields... You must start the Dragon Slayer quest to be able to get the Duke to give you one. To start the quest you must first talk to the Champions guild leader and then you must go talk to Oziach NW of Edgeville. He tells you to go and talk to the Duke. The shield is always free from the Duke. You can get almost as many shields as you want from him, even after you have finished the quest. The trick is that he won't offer you another shield if you have any in the bank, inventory, or equipped. So, to get more than one you must take all that you have with you and drop them at his feet. Then talk to him and get another. Then pick up everything that you dropped. Repeat. The shield is great against dragons but otherwise, it's about as weak as an iron shield with a tiny magic bonus. So, if you can't get one then you probably didn't talk to the 2 guys or you already have one somewhere. Hope this helps
  17. Well, it's faster than Addy. I think Jagex made it a little easier since F2Pers must do it in deep PK territory...
  18. Edgeville is the closest. Using the Fally bank is a safer trip though. Also, the best average exp that you can get with mind runes is about 18 per cast. But, Curse, using a Body rune, always gives 29 exp per cast.... Hope this helps.

Without picking up, about 49400 With picking up, about 12400 Hope this helps How'd you come up with those numbers? I assumed that he would make an average hit of half of the max hit for each level. I know what the max hit for each level is as well as the exp required for each level. So you just do something like this: To go from 70 to 71 ranging you need 76818 more exp. At level 70, Bronze arrows hit for about 9. I'll use an average of 4.5 Range exp is earned according to Hit*4. So the average exp earned would be 4*9/2 = 18 exp. Dividing that into the required exp gives 76818/18 = 4268 arrows needed without picking up. If I pick up 75% of my arrows then I can use each one 4 times. Hence I would need about 1067 arrows if I pick up. So, I just did the above calculations for levels 1 through 70 and added the results ;) Hope this helps.
  20. There are 5 rare tree symbols "near" Draynor. 1 west past the fence and 4 between the Draynor jail and Lumby castle. and all of them are Yew. Hope this helps.
  21. Sorta. Yes, for F2P players. I have level 85 mining and I don't bother with runite ore much. Between PKer's chasing you and empty rune rocks it isn't, IMHO, much fun to do. Mining Runite is faster than Addy. It's about as fast as Mith ore. I got 85 using the 3 iron rocks on the NW wall of the Al-kharid scorp mine. For steady money you could mine Addy ore and sell for about 1k each. Or, make Addy bars and sell for about 2k each. Addy rocks are almost always available and easier to mine. Hope this helps
  22. No, there are 23 Use the Jagex official interactive "flash" world map to highlight them. Every "rare tree" symbol in the F2P world is a yew tree. The Edgeville trees are closest to a bank. Hope this helps.

  24. I agree. I got F2P level 80 fishing and level 83 cooking exactly that way. IMHO, Lobsters are good money and good cooking exp but are slow to catch. Fishing and Cooking exps are: Trout: 50, 70 Salmon: 70, 90 Lobsters: 90, 120 Hope this helps.
  25. If you pick up 75% of your arrows then you will need about 11600 Iron or 10400 Steel arrows. Hope this helps
