  1. The remaining third actually using it and enjoying it :)
  2. A deadlock to me would imply that there is millions of one item for sale that noone is willing to pay that price for, or that it is moving so slowly that only one or two people are actually selling any product. Refer to nats, fire runes, or maples as prime examples. If this is the case, then the price will lower to the point of equilibrium and remove the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâdeadlock̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢. Only once the minimum price on these products are what players are willing to pay, or the quantity of product available falls below demand, will the price stabalise and product will again shift. EDIT: Items I have bought in quantity always at minimum prices are: 10k grey chins (cheap 800k range experience thanks!) Diamond ammys Archer helms Weapon poison ++ (made many DD into DDs, and poisoned some rune arrows to pk with :) ) Half keys Range pots Black dhide sets Snakeskin boots All have been instant buys at a price I am more than happy with.
  3. Pros: Getting rid of items quickly and at a price I am comfortable with Don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t have to go to forums and trawl through pages upon pages to find a buyer, or keep bumping a topic to sell a few hundred hides/bones etc. If I put in a price I think is reasonable and someone has a lower sale price, I get a refund :) I can sell things while asleep! I can buy absolutely everything I need in an instant. It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s very close to Edge tele spot. Has shown up where there is a glut in the market, i.e. nats Cons: Some prices are a bit off, but they are getting to the right price gradually. Extremely oddball items are impossible to get. I.e. try buying an orange cape, nope none for sale! I can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t see how many of a particular item is for sale, so don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know if I am wasting my time having 140k fire runes for sale or not. Sometimes I get a message that items have been updated when in fact they haven̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t. Maybe this is when the prices adjust? If so, its around 10pm NZ time! A new update could see clever merchants reap great rewards in an instant due to people being logged off with items for sale at a far too low price, or having buy options on items with a too higher price tag immediately after an update (i.e. rune boots after drag boots came out) Price updates are too slow ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Jagex could speed these up for the first week or so to enable the prices to stablise quicker.
  4. yup, probably the problem. I threw in 500 games necklaces, and 400 duel rings at lowest price....nothing .....whips and darkbows flew as soon as I put them in, treasure trail items such as blessed dragonhides, robin etc...*poof* sold.....took out the pots, and jewelry. I have 5k bloods up, they havent moved either, but eventually they will, and it beats surfing the forums to sell. Things I have sold almost immediately after I put them up: Coal, iron, whips, crushed bird nests, and dragon arrows. All set at rock bottom prices. Items sold but took quite a while: Blood runes, sold 2k at rock bottom price, but took quite a while. Items been on for days, and no takers: Maple logs (these will not move ever I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t think lolz), Fire runes at 10gpea (same deal). Summary: High use items will sell fast at GE, low use ones will not! Post the ones that don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t sell on RSOF etc at prices lower than GE if you are desperate to sell them, otherwise wait til the minimum price drops and repost them. Trick: If you can figure out the timing of Jagex̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s price drops, you should repost immediately after it. That way your goods will be the first to sell at the new price.
  5. This tells me that things were way overpriced, the market was easy to manipulate, and buyers were willing to overpay. You should keep in mind that a lot of people are willing to sell low just to complete sales to test out the new update. Things will stabilize before long, and begin to reflect what items ought to actually be worth. This tells me that people in RS are quite willing to sell at a lower than ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâmarket value̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ to expediate the sale of items. A rune scimmy drop from a fire giant is essentially a free item, so any price that can be gained from its sale is pure profit. Most will sell for the lower end of market price (23k), rather than the traditional common price of 25k. Especially now through the GE as they know that the lowest price items sell first. Almost everything imaginable for sale is at rock bottom prices at present, especially pots, food, weapons. Some items are high in prices (yews) but this occurred prior to GE anyway. I would expect yews to drop in price slowly in GE also. It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a buyers dreamworld at GE these days, but a sellers nightmare if they have product they want to make profit on (i.e. they bought low, and want to sell high). Those who want to clean out their banks at low costs are fuelling the price reductions, and I for one am loving the cheap product on offer. It would appear that most RS players are not fussy when it comes to selling/buying prices of items, as long as they get something for their effort they are happy. Long may it last :)
  6. I too have around 30 of em, so they are reasonably rare. If they become merchantable, the price would be quite high I would imagine (depending on their use of course!) Can't wait til they can be used, been a long time coming. Got my 1st egg a looooong time ago it seems, and I only hope it has not gone rotten sitting in my bank!
  7. There̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s no difference to putting the goods for sale on a forum, leaving for a few days and not getting a sale due to price fluctuations while you are away. It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a better system as you get the benefit of having the goods up for sale for a day or two before a price change, you don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t get that on the forums.
  8. Of all the updates, I would have to say the GE has revolutionised the way I play. More to the point, it has enabled me to get on with the way I play a lot faster ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ no longer do I need to travel all the way to Relleka if I lose my archers helm, or stand around in edge bank getting ripped off for range pots. Just hop over to GE, and buy your required pots/equipment at rock bottom prices in seconds, then go on your merry way. It is hard to sell those pesky items that clutter your bank, but it was hard before GE also. Some seemingly worthless items though have made me more than 4M since it opened. These items have made me muchos cashies: birds nests, rune scims, prayer pots, dragon arrows, and blood runes all got snapped up very quickly. Fire runes, and maples though have been stuck in the GE for 2 days and I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t expect either to move any day soon! I give GE 9/10, the others don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t affect me too much, though I did use the assist system to smith 10 rune bars that I had in my bank into full helms :)
  9. I'll beat you I'm sure, try 40k maples at 88each lolz!
  10. I posted this elsewhere, but here is a better spot for it. The only problem I see with GE is the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâ1st come, 1st served̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ selling basis. What is happening at present is those with 500k nats, flax, maples etc are holding up everyone elses sales of the same items. If the price updates pick up on 1M nats going for the rock bottom price, then surely the price should be lowered sooner than a 24 hour window? This would give others a chance of selling at 1gp less than the previous rock bottom price. My 2p, the rest of GE I really like. I have 5M more in my bank now than I did yesterday without the hassle of trawling through forums, delving into W2, and buying some much need supplies at the same time without getting ripped off. So far, a 9/10 for me. Quicker price updates would see this an easy 9.5 :)
  11. Problem with GE is that it seems as though the 1st in 1st served rule is being used, which is fair enough I guess. Problem occurs when someone has 500k nats, willows, maples, flax, etc all at the lowest cost. Anyone after that wanting to sell those resources will have to wait a long time before their number pops up. IF the price update was hourly, the new lowest price would kick into gear allowing those wanting a quick sale to price the goods 1gp lower than the previous lowest price. Apparantly it is a 24hr price adjustment though, I wonder when the UK clock will tick over?
  12. I sold all my calquat seeds in about 1 hour, so it will happen :) Other than the inability for it still hard to sell 'hard to sell items' no change there is there, I think the GE is great :)
  13. GE Offline: Quote from Jagex: Well despite countless hours of testing it seems a couple of bugs slipped through with the grand exchange system. It actually took several million trades before the exact set of circumstances that caused this problem showed up so you can imagine how obscure it is! It's nothing too major though, but nonetheless we've temporarily taken the system offline to fix it and get it working perfectly. That's because with a system this important we would rather not risk it. We hope to resume normal operation shortly. Anyhow the main point of this news post is to reassure everyone that you will NOT lose any items through this. (that's because your items are actually looked after by an older system that has been working fine for years, rather than the new system). Therefore any items currently stuck in the exchange will be retrievable/tradeable as normal as soon as we put it back online again. So no need to worry about that. Sorry for the inconveniance, we know you're all keen to try out the exchange! Sorry!
  14. It will seem slow and boring when you begin, but so do many other skills! The main problem is getting the low level seeds that you can plant on your allotments. Steal them from master farmers or the seed stall as soon as you can, and save them all in the beginning. Plant all alotment patches, bushes, herbs and hops you can until you get the ability to plant trees. Trees, and herbs are the only way I have levelled since around the level 35 mark, and it takes around 30 minutes to do a farming round, netting anywhere from 20-50k xp in the process dependant on the seeds I have sown the night before. So it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a fast skill requiring minimal effort once you getover the hurdle of low level seeds/alotments.

Updates usually occur in around 10-15 hours from me making this post. Hold your horses mate, coz they will probably read this and change the schedule!
  16. Also remember that 80 hunter is insanely easy to get (esp compared to rcing), and 330+ red chins per hour come rolling at magical 80 (5 traps) = 260k per hour. There is zero risk hunting, no loss of glories, and I have gained about 3 slayer levels through the massive amount of genies you get while hunting red chins. Yes, rcing is very profitable, and unbeatable at 91, but red chins are decent imo :)
  17. Tips: Hop to medium-high populated worlds. Trainers generally choose low pop worlds, so avoid em! Keep hopping til you find an empty world. It will happen, just takes a few tries. Stay away from experiments, and rock crabs. They are rubbish at your level.
  18. Changed? Since when? As of a couple of days ago, the range/r2h worked fine for me.
  19. An excellent analysis of the RS markets, and the potential of the GE. I for one am looking forward to dumping all my unused/never to be used items on the exchange and see if they sell. It truly will be a case of one mans junk is another mans treasure on the GE :)
  20. If you can last at Black Drags til 99 range, the well done! You will get multiple drops worth more than a loop, rune legs/kite/chain etc not to mention dmeds, left half and visage. The problem with black drags is that they are very slow range experience at your level. Maybe switch to fire giants til 90 range, then you will much better success with the blackies :)
  21. 99 range, 100+ combat and get all skills onto highscores. That would see me happy at the end of 08 :)
  22. I see GE as greatly enhancing everyones ability to buy supplies to level skills, at much faster rates than previously possible, with the added bonus of being able to see what others are buying/selling same product for. Will it cause detriment to your style of merchanting? Most likely it will. Will it be detrimental to the people who used to fuel your type of merhanting? Definitely not. People who used to buy big bones in W1, and resell W2 for +50% will get far less profit than previously, but its great for the person who actually collected them! More money for the person who collected a valuable resource and less profit for the middleman must surely be benificial to the game. Merchanters won't like it, but RS is likely to be much better for it.
  23. Your last 8+ posts here have not been on topic, one which you created. I suggest you either return to the topic at hand, or request this be closed and take your personal attacks elsewhere. OT: May I remind you the topic: Will GE ruin Merchanting? Define merchanting please. I understand it is split into several typers of mercher, so the GE is likely to affect each type differently. Some for the good, some not so good. Pros of GE imo: Will enable the everyday player, like me, to buy/sell items that traditionally have been hard to get with ease. Will save buying/selling time, hence provide more playing time raising skills etc. Cons: Merchants will get less profit, as it will essentially open the books. Everyone will see what the mercher has for sale, and is buying at the same time. The buy low, sell high gap will lessen, while at the same time more fluididity will occur in the market. Good merchants will still succeed, while rip-off artists will not.
  24. Someone with no RS gp will not be buying up large when the GE opens. Those with spare gp will though. Many bargains will be had on opening day, be sure of it. Yes people will sell 1gp lower than the rest to get fast cash, but again this is unlikely to cause mass panic in all markets. I sell raw materials, primarily coal. Coal is a staple of the game, and has not altered in price much for years. I highly doubt if GE will affect coal prices negatively, if anything it will show the true supply/demand equilibrium of such products causing some to rise in the short term. Please explain how the location of where someone sells their goods (apparantly the bank) determines how lazy they are.
  25. I agree with some points of the original post, and disagree with others. Yes, there will be an initial ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâdrop̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ in prices of some goods. Primarily caused by players putting up resources of goods at lower than market prices. Once these cheap goods are bought, prices are likely to stabalise. Cheap goods will be snapped up very quickly, leaving the majority of goods at market, or higher than market prices. I believe the equilibrium prices will be reached very quickly, and will prevent any market crash.
