  1. Hint: Never expect any updates in F2P, and when they arrive its like ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅOMG ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ how lucky, F2P got an update!̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  2. Buy truckloads of grey chinchompas and power range your way in the Ape Atol tunnels on skeletons. Hits 9 at once and you will get 150-200k xp per hour, more like 220k once you hit the 90̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s. Ditch the dark bow and robin set ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ neither are necessary. Snakeskin is almost as good, and that slight range bonus is not really worth it as you may die due to lag, or stupidity!
  3. You have to be in a team at Bounty Hunter, and a team you can trust at that. Unless of course you want to 1 item, but you wont get kills in F2P 1 iteming. P2P 1 iteming can be fruitful though, but you will be more than likely to die trying to get out if you make a kill in rogue mode!
  4. I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know what it is like to start the game from scratch these days. I barely remember it when I started anyway, but there were definitely a lot of people scamming/begging etc then. Numerous ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâFree Trimming̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢, ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâFollow for Massive Drop party̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ scams etc. I was helped by generous fellow scapians ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ not through massive transfers of wealth, but rather massive transfers of knowledge. On completion of Knights sword, I was gifted a set of full mith by a smither who proceeded to show me the best places to train, and for a few days he would check up on me asking if I needed any more advice. I too have done the same thing (not full mith though ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ crappy smithing ftl), but have offered as much advice in game as I can. There are definitely more people playing today than when I started, and it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s nice to know that after Jan, most level 3̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s will in fact be new players rather than experienced players training a pure. More advise to dish out, and the ability to offer a helping hand and make new friends is what RS is all about (isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ it?), otherwise why are we playing a MMORPG!
  5. What I used to do if I needed lots of money: Hunt chins, sell MTK products, sell pked goodies. What I will do now for lots of money: Chop yews, make yew longs and alch ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ or get the odd lucky drop while training slayer. MTK products sell too cheap to make a decent profit these days, so I use them for skilling instead.
  6. I would be lieing to say I have never drop traded to a pure account, but at the same time I am not complaining about the latest round of updates, nor the trading restrictions to come. They will affect the way I play of course but I will adapt and try to help others adapt as well. During the time I drop traded (from main to 2 pure accounts) there were few bots, few RWT, but heaps of fresh pures. I made myself a couple and fitted them out with the best F2P gear around ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ you know a few rune scims and some training food plus 100k cash each or so to replenish what was lost.. Do I consider myself part of the problem leading to the latest changes? Not at all. RWT were the ones who macroed to the brink of insanity, raking in cash through yews, nats, drag bones, hides etc. The ability to drop trade/death pile trade allowed these guys to xfer goods, and a loophole they happily used especially once staking was removed. My 400k total drop trading experience did in no way contribute to this update, it merely exposed the same loophole that has been in existence since day 1, and allowed me to have some fun in wildy competing against the majority of players out there.. pures. I have given out over 3M in prizes last month to members of my main clan for training ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ I won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be able to do this anymore which is a shame, but not something to quit RS over. Pile jumpers? I sincerely hope you have actually played Bounty Hunter, because pile jumping is now called being a rogue and he who is top of that list is essentially boasting being #1 Pjer in RS. Jagex changed pjing from being not only accepted, but now its applauded! I guess Pjers did influence the change then? I too read Queltar̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s "Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish" with which I completely disagreed. All pures are not scum, so don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t generalise. Tipit community is still strong, and the ones whining/moaning so hard about updates they threaten to quit are the ones we should be helping out the door. The in game community has changed significantly since I started playing, yet I enjoy the game still primarily through interaction with clanmates and setting new in game goals to achieve (or try for a few days and start a new goal!)
  7. I lost 2 DDS in the Bounty Hunter arena, and a few people on my friends list have said they will be taking a break/quitting RS pending the severity of effects the trade restrictions will have. I have found that clan wars and Bounty Hunter (F2P) are a ton of fun provided you have a group of mates keen to go explore. In fact, I would dare to say I will Bounty Hunt more often now than I would have pked before for the following reasons: 1)It is easy to quit BH, bank carry on with skilling 2)You can bank immediately after getting a kill 3)You meet many more teams more often in BH than you would have stalking GDZ. 4)It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s great to get a group of pures to scatter! 5)Reasonably quick to get to, and no need to worry about hopping every couple of minutes looking for teams. Bad things about BH: 1)No 1v1 area to truly hunt your target, or truly be a rogue. 2)Not enough in the arena to hug 3)Far to many cave openings for people to escape through. 4)When you are attacking someone who goes through a cave hole, you run towards the other side of the arena wasting run! 5)You should spawn close to others on your mates list ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ it is a large area and it can take a while to find everyone. Clan Wars is a blast in both P2P and F2P ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ and I will play it for a while yet. Give me a 1v1 area though, and voila ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ pures are again happy :) Trade restrictions will affect me a little bit, especially the ability to award prizes, give gifts etc ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ but the GE is fine for me to buy/sell whatever I want.
  8. My team has 6-8 people with 1-2 binders and the rest full rune, or ranging. One or 2 are rune pures, range tanks, the rest are normal main accounts. All are 100cb or below, but all above 90. This setup of team does very well in Bounty Hunter, but as a preferred solo pker, the lack of any 1v1 area is a sad sight :( I hear whispers that a 1v1 area will be popping up sooner than later though :)
  9. Put it on rapid? Seems fine to me still!
  10. The subject at hand is about the future changes that will be implemented into the GE, not what happened to Phats many years ago, cheaters of yesteryear, or styles of merchanting. Again, here is a summary of proposed changes: 1)Correcting the 1% of incorrect prices (chompys, rune boots, black masks etc), great for merchants who can predict which items prices will shift significantly over the next few weeks. 2) They will provide charts/stats on price movements. Gotta assist merchants there? 3) Creating better floor prices for raw materials = prime merchanting avenue right there for all merchants. 4) They are going to improve the interface of GE ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a good thing. 5) No 5% rule on new items, another great thing for merchants. 5 things to assist merchants should be a sound reason to invest wisely now, and reap potential rewards later. What won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be able to happen is the following scenario: Newbie cuts 1k logs and has the patience to bank them. Merchant offers to buy 10k of them at 20gp each, and newbie thinks he is getting a good price as he heard willows were less than that so cuts 10k over a few weeks. Merchant rips off newbie to the tune of 800k. Ego compares the above scenario to trading stocks, but its not ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ obviously. With the new system, newbie will see what the market value of said logs is, and hence will never again get ripped off. He may have been happy to sell for 20gp each, but only because he was new to the game and did not know why normal logs would be worth so much. +1 to Jagex imo for not allowing this to ever happen again. Experienced players preying on newbies should, and has been eliminated from the game. Me, I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m a pker, and part time skiller ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ so the GE has helped me out a lot in recent weeks. I can buy range pots, dhide sets, arrows etc at bargain prices and can sell what I consider to be worthless junk for mils ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ who would have thought my 1k crushed birdsnests would get snapped up so quickly! Better floor prices will help me decide what to do with 50k maples ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ fletch, burn or sell, another update I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m looking forward to. I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m pleased to see that Jagex have taken on board many of the suggestions made on forums, although there is more I personally would like to see (fully viewable marketplace is #1 for me). In time it can only improve, even if its 1 step at a time. PS to Ego: Please stop comparing people̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s RS highscores to their ability to accurately post on these forums. I could put up my pitiful main as my RSN here, my cb 60 pure, my cb 40 pure but none show Jack about ability to post informatively/constructively.
  11. What you will find is that pures with 1 att, str, def, 60hp, 60 range, 60 mage and 44 prayer will pop up. Protection from range/melee prayers will be commonplace as you replenish prayer immediately once you leave the arena. Those under level 50 with those stats will do just great, esp if there is a large enough team of them. Level 100̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s will be range/mage tanks, i.e 99 range/mage, 90 def, 52 prayer, or strength pures 70 attack, 99 strength, 52 prayer, 70 def. Teams of those types will slaughter groups of mains in their droves. The 100+ cave will be full of 120+ maxed mains where teamwork and numbers, rather than stats will rule.
  12. The same rules apply now as prior to pking in BH, i.e. you must have done the most damage to your opponant to get the drop. If he had a battle previously where he ate 15 sharks, his attacker left, he ate up and you 3 hit him - then it would be his 1st attacker that would get the drop, not you - and there would be no pile eif his 1st attacker never got to it on time.
  13. So what is it that has got your goat? Here̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s the summary of proposed changes: 1)Correcting the 1% of incorrect prices (chompys, rune boots, black masks etc), great for merchants who can predict which items prices will shift significantly over the next few weeks. 2) They will provide charts/stats on price movements. Gotta assist merchants there ? 3) Creating better floor prices for raw materials = prime merchanting avenue right there for all merchants. 4) They are going to improve the interface of GE ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s a good thing. 5) No 5% rule on new items, another great thing for merchants. You Ego are obviously a merchant of one sort or another, so why would you complain about the above 5 things? You do realise I hope that GE etc was not an evil plan to bash merchants, but was the first step in eliminating RWT - or do you not read the RS front pages?
  14. I agree. Items that are great for training will be the ones to rise in demand, but will be bought by people getting one for the first time, rather than replacing them through pking (I am yet to see a whip or godsword in Bounty hunter). Pking items of high value will not be bought into Bounty Hunter, hence will have little value in RS. UNLESS of course a non-multi area is brought into BH. I'd prefer a 50 x 50 square in the middle to be non-multi
  15. alcoolj replied to frogspoons's topic in Questionnaires
52 with dstone bolts, 44/42 with drag arrows, 22/23 with rune arrows, 31 with whip.
  16. Who would scam for 1.5k lolz. Those leechers are merely a pimple on the bum of the fly that sniffs a dragon turd. The balanced trade thing will stop 99% of scammers in their tracks, there is no point in people trying to keylog, as they can't xfer after Jan 08. I'm sure subtle changes will be introduced prior to its release to enable the 3k gap to be widened. I mean, 3k lolz - means I can't give a power ammy/scimmy/rune helm etc to a clanmate!
  17. In any case, there is going to be the 'chance' that the buyer can get attacked in Bounty Hunter, losing his items. In fact, a reasonably high chance at that. Will they risk it? Only time will tell I guess, but I for one certainly hope that my team meets them in bounty Hunter :) There will always be 10 (min) in Bounty Hunter, with someone after you. If the buyer is lucky, it will be only the seller with the buyer on his hit list, or better yet the buyer has the seller as his target. If that happened, then sure it would work. they could both keep hopping in/out until the buyer had the seller as his target. This would require both parties to be withing the required combat levels, and also meant the seller could only drop high value pking gear, godswords, 3rd age, ranger sets. One error could mean 200M+ gone in items to a lucky pker/team. A single opponant in BH is no match for a 5-10+ team, no matter how many sara brews he has.
  18. Except you can't log off for 3 minutes, cant use prayer, and can't xlog once you are a rogue. Next try?
  19. But where is the reward for effort? (Not that they could actually do it anyway). These kids are in it for quick bucks, and seeing as they can no longer trade - they are quitting cheating in RS, and moving on to pastures new. GF Bots, you may have won nearly every round, but Jagex KO'd you suckers in the 10th.
  20. I play bounty hunter with my clan, train slayer, and am even thinking about returning to some of those quests I have started but not yet completed
  21. Newsflash Folks: The time of day when the '20k' dropoff is occurring, is during normal woking hours in̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ. Drumroll please̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâæÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ. China! The peak period has the same number of players, indicating that the pkers, or real people who play RS, are actually still playing and there has not been a noticable drop off in players playing on a week day/night compared to 7 days ago. Sure there are a handful of quitters, but likelihood is they will be back. The '20k' dropoff I concur is made up primarily of bots/goldfarmers etc. Some will say "but they will play for another month to maximise the RWT window". The answer is that Jagex have already blocked them. All new bots cannot trade to mules, so they are useless. Existing bots that have been marked as showing suspicious behaviour have also been marked and cannot xfer gp/goods above the 3k limit. I am sure most bot families will have been marked with suspicious behaviour, hence few will be capable of performing, same goes for the mules, and masters. I once estimated the number of bots working on the servers, and it was around the 20k mark during my prime time (which is close to Chinas working hours). This was based on visual counts at popular bot spots on medium populated servers during normal working hours for China. I thought then it was probably on the low side, as it did not account for drag bots, nat running bots, or other low volume gold farmers. It was mainly based on flax pickers, woodcutters and fishers. Seems like Jagex have killed off the bots for the time being at least, lets hope it stays this way.
  22. The lack of a non-multi area is the problem, but what would happen according to the anti-RWT team? Bounty Hunter on certain worlds is very quiet, and that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s less than 2 days after its release! In a single only environment, it would be reasonable easy to find an empty orld and trade between two accounts of various armour/weapons. If howver, they made only the central part of Bounty Hunter multi, with the remainder all non-multi, then I believe that this would go a long to way appease pkers.
  23. 1) Your merchanting skill is not on the highscores, hey wait neither is mine, um er there isn't a merchenting skill? Oh well, nothing to worry about then is there? 2) Whats with the obsession about making screeds of money? If you want to get all skills to 99, then smith those steel bars into plates, then alch them. Mine those ores if you are losing cash hand over fist. 3) NZ > OZ :P
  24. Surely it's rather obvious? Yew logs and pure ess will both rise in price due to the lack of bots around. Flax will have a steady rate, as will bowstrings. Quite soon, yew longs will be more expensive to make and you will lose money if buying raw materials to gain xp. Hence you will have to actually go and collect the goods yourself *shock, horror!*
  25. If I can generalise your post in one sentence, it would be "This update is good as the only people who it affects are pures/pkers who are mostly scumbags" I guess I am one of those scumbags, as the primary reason I play RS is/was to pk solo at edge, and to pk with my clan on weekly trips. I also did my share of skilling, but pking is/was the part of the game I enjoyed the most. This update affects more than just pking though. Clan wars update is good for clans? Rubbish. You see, last month I initiated a training competion in our clan, with highest trained combat stats in P2P, F2P, rewarded with over 2.6M in prizes. We celebrated the 10 or so people who achived high training scores by hosting a party with beer and festivities for all and had a blast. We were to hold further competitions due to how successful it was. This update has stopped my ability to do this ever again, and feel saddened by that. Bounty Hunter mini-game would appear from all Jagex's literature to show which individual has the brawn/brains to make it big. It is not that way at all. The highscores mean nothing, merely which individual has hung around with the largest clan inside the game. Dieing inside BH is next to impossible in F2P, due to the ease of escaping through the cave holes. It is extremely rare to pk 1 on 1, and you can be sure that even if you win, a pjer will be on your back quicker than before! BH actually encourages pjing, not deterring it. I have played both P2P and F2P Bounty Hunter, and neither apeal to me a whole lot. remember, I am a pker at heart! Surely this must tell you something about the success/failure of the mini-game. Whats next from Jagex? Will they remove all chat functions from the game, as they seem to want us not to communicate with each other and play a solitary game. Should I go play minesweeper?
