Thats a touchy subject, as it's based solely on opinon. There's no definite timeframe as to when the first people tied the knot, stomped the glass, etc. So it's pretty much based on your worldview, if you're anti religion you're going to say it's purely legal. But if you're pro religion, you're gonna say its not only legal, but a spiritual binding and covenant with God. (As does my religion believe) But the religion supports gay marriage. (Mine) HOw do I know? Well. I'm gay. I'm Christian, and I believe God wants us gays to be just as happy married or not as our straight/bi brothers and sisters. but I'm rushing this post if you can't tell. i gtg work. But the whole premise is based on opinion, in my opinion. :XD:

Is "civil partnership" so utterly unacceptable that you need to continue to fight so that you can change a few letters? Some scenarios the religious nuts can live with include, gays not getting married at all and gays being allowed to have "civil partnerships" which are identical to marriage. If you aren't willing to make a compromise then that's your problem. Its actually not irrelevant. The reason I chose race, is because both race and sexual orientation are unchangeable, and innate. And the point is we don't NEED to compromise. We shouldn't have to. Compromise isn't always the answer.

Also, being gay raises more problems than just legal. Gay teens (such as myself >.>) face extreme social isolation during their high school years, when most teens learn social skills. And as posted somewhere else, unlike racism, where lets say a black teen is called the N word, he can go home and unload his/her feelings on their parents, and they will understand. But unless a gay kid is extremely blessed to have gay parents as well, they either cannot go home and mention any of it, or even if they do, and the parents are ok with gays, they themselves will never fully understand. And communication is vital to the human race, and it's hard when we cannot fully communicate our feelings to the general populace because they simply cannot comprehend. Also, just two neighborhoods away, a gay young adult had his car smashed in, all the windows etc, with a flaccid penis and the word [bleep] spray painted all over it. Though I didn't know him personally, this is an outrage. And to be honest, THIS needs to be taken care of before the legal rights, because dehumanizing gay men and women is an egregious outrage. And many don't care, even some gay men and lesbian women don't realize how bad it is. Just my twenty cents

Just a note, Kerry and Lieberman's American Power Act does more at a lower cost than anything the Republicans have put up to the table (it was the Graham-Kerry-Lieberman legislation, until Graham withdrew support from a bill that he wrote); not to mention that cap and trade was the old Republican position, and Democrats used to support a carbon tax. Because its based on the idea that global warming is a very real thing that will kill all of us. That is plain foolhardy, and a slippery slope. Remember climategate? Most of the facts were faked. And because cap and trade isn't needed. And thats the MAIN problem I have with these types of gov'ts is they try to pass laws that aren't needed. And I realllllly dislike that. I honestly do think the gov't should really just stay the crap outta my life. It might not be the most sensible or logical principle, but that is mainly the core value as to which I base a lot of my anti obama ideas on.

When I say the Christian church I mean the obviously americanized Christian church/Catholics etc. I understand AND appreciate the Coptic (sp) Christians, the underground churches in China etc, and the one you speak about. And it's pretty much generally accepted that when someone says the Christian church, they are referring to the main ones generally accepted by the public. FOR EXAMPLE: Catholics. Baptists. Presbyterians. Methodists. Quakers. Amish. Lutherans etc. If you really want to take my post down to the semantics then yes TECHNICALLY I said the Church, which should include all of it. But I think we all know what we were talking about. Also, you don't know what I know. None of you do. I don't share with this forum 90% of the crap I know. But if you went and asked 1,000 people in Europe/America to name some primary Christian Churches, the Maronites wouldn't be listed. from where i'm sitting i can't see which one is more brain dead... why exactly do you even follow the church? you're free to believe in a god without following a religion Wait what. I'm not brain dead :( I dislike the church because from *my personal experience* its more of a political tool, it always has been. Ever since a few years after Jesus was crucified. If they would just teach WHAT WAS IN THE BIBLE I highly doubt there'd still be so much animosity towards us. (us as in Christians that is) But I've not been to Church in maybe a year, and despite a severe language problem I have (which I'm trying to get under control....) I'm a pretty decent Christian. Thats subjective of course. And no Shadow, the idea is the God is the religion, so I think you meant to say I can believe in God, and not follow the Church. In that case I whole heartedly agree. OT: I don't like civil partnerships. No matter if they have exactly the same benefits. I want a marriage and thats that. I tend to compromise a lot of my beliefs (except for Religion) but this one I won't. But if anyone feels different I'm in a debating mood :D

I worked a scheduled similar at one point. I don't get burnt out, thats just me personally. Some people just don't burn out. I was just pissed I had to go back to work already, but I was never "so tired i couldn't get outta bed" or anything. But then again, I'm a very high energy person...
