  1. You too? I find MMG to be much like Presidant Obama. He seems to follow the "shoot for Mars, end up on the moon" ideaology. He is fantastic speaker in terms of having good ideas and having the alibity to put them into words that will convince most anyone that it is a good idea. But when it comes to implimenting them, it's not quite as big as he says. I really like him, and find him a great improvement from Geoff but some times he says things like 'Runescape will become the worlds largest MMO'. These types of dreams are nice to have but as for them actually happening.... Either way, as long as we keep getting quality updates and continued communication with Jagex, I will be a happy member of this community. PS -> I really like that he has an open CC and the fact that he visits it on occasion. I have never heard of Geoff ever coming ingame to talk to players and MMG has done quite a bit of that. Did he ever go ingame?
  2. I didn't think it started until 8?
  3. Serious sam 3. An early version of the engine it will use has been used in the Serious sam HD game (the original, re-done). The developers just want to make a fun game, its glaringly obvious, i just hope they can stand by it. I will probably be buying Serious Sam HD soon too, with ads like this, they can't go wrong: http://www.serioussamhd.com/home.php
  4. We wouldn't have a 35+ page topic on it if they gave us more information. The lack of any is what creates the excitement. Its another 'chairs you can sit on!' moment.
  5. I hope it does not end yet. I only just started and I want to learn the ropes better before the full release.
  6. The later the better please. Preferably May.
  7. Did anybody ask about the progress of that lawsuit against Jagex and the other MMO companies by some American company?
  8. Through recent observations, i've noticed how the public perception of Mark Gerhard is almost totally positive. Is he one of the best things to happen to RS? The previous man in his job was Geoff Iddison. He is a comparison I will use as he is the person he took the job from. Gerhard, unlike Iddison is very community oriented. He had seen what had gone before and almost done the opposite. For those who do not remember Iddison, he came across almost totally money-focused. His previous job was with Paypal (from what i remember) and a majority of his influences in game aimed at advertising the members part of the game to free players. These were not all bad, the gnome-copters had a nice feel and came across as fairly fun. Despite this though, they were advertising. Mass advertising of the members game made the game feel much less of a community game, and more of a money sucker. Totally opposite to this, Gerhard has done away with many of the advertising features previously implemented. He has also focused heavily on increasing the community feel of the game. Under him, Jagex have implemented many community oriented events, Q&A sessions and insights into the workings of the company. He has in effect become the modern face of Jagex in my opinion. His professional, competent but still very fun way of working seems to have given the original creator and owner of Jagex, Andrew Gower more time to change the inner workings of the game, where he can feel safe the broad wider picture is being looked after well by Gerhard. In my view, he has changed the attitude of Jagex in that they don't want to grab our money with shady advertising, instead they want us to throw our money at them by making the game much more enjoyable and a better experience. I doubt I am alone in the feeling that Gerhard has been a breath of fresh air in the company and the community of Jagex.
  9. I was thinking of them too, but then thought they were too much of a parody to really say. I think it is just the era and how things progress. Music does not sound the same as time progress'.
  10. I don't understand how you can say that the rune full helmet is "superior" to the D med.... you should check the stats. The D med gives better defence to both melee and ranged. 70K is merely 10K higher than alching price... not much added value there. The D med's low price is not because of how rare it is, its because there are much better alternatives to it. If the D med was the best f2p could buy, the price would skyrocket. Supply would not be able to keep up with demand. The 300k-600k figure is how much they'd be in the long run, partly because people would know that after 30 minutes of wear, they'd still have something. I agree that the D med supply is actually much lower than most people realise. The price may make it look as if there are a lot of them, however, the reason is actually because it is almost a defunct item in P2P. There are so many better alternatives around that the majority of people will skip directly from rune full helm to a better alternative. For example, the Fremmenik helms are all superior (the mellee ones), cost roughly the same and require lower levels. Because of this, most people end up having a better helm by the time they reach 60 defence. I would be happy for the mole to be a F2P boss, with the light sources, no familiars, no run restoring methods and limited weapons, it would be a fair challenge, along with being marginally profitable if the dragon med rose in price. My reasons for not wanting the KBD F2P is that it has its uses in higher level P2P. A large number of slayers use it, and a large number of mid level P2P players use it for experience and a start in boss hunting. I personally would be happy for F2P to get all content which is over 6 years old. It would keep F2P a demo version, while keeping it fresh over the years to attract newer players, who may end up become members later on. But that is something for another thread.
  11. Guess it isn't so much of a 'fun' fact for him.
  12. I agree, i would call it bug abuse. The whole reason for the quest being grand-master is that nomad is a very hard fight. Nullifying by making him non aggressive is clearly a bug which was not intended. Please report it. Please remember not to post how to use bugs on these forums. Locking this. After looking at a video, I can see it is definitely bug abuse. Please do not try to replicate it or use it as it could lead to warnings or even a banned account. Please report it.
  13. between the 1500 and 2000 mark, not a clue where and the high-scores are a long distance away.

Well i have just found out about this film, and as I don't recall a thread for it I thought i better make one. Basically, these are a few of the people who make appearances in the film (many of them staring): Sylvester Stallone Dolph Lundgren Bruce Willis Arnold Schwarzenegger Jet Li Jason Statham Mickey Rourke Terry Crews Steve Austin (yes the wrestler) Hopefully if your any sort of red blooded male, you are now quivering on the floor with excitement. Just to make it a little better, i've dipped onto youtube to find a Trailer. This seems to be a nice one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDu2v4h7gsY (You know i'm a mod and I can't remember how to embed vids, so if anybody wants to do it for me) Anyway, i personally can't wait, it seems like an 80's action film in all senses. Comedy, action, stars, explosions.

In exactly the same way that you have yourself pointed out is what i will explain it with. Teenagers. In our culture, we still see teenagers as people who shouldn't have the right to full self control. Because of our culture we see teenagers are rather immature and as not having the right self control to have this full control. That is something created by our western culture. If we were to have true human rights, everybody would choose their own life from the word go. To us it seems 'right' that teenagers should not have full control over their lives until they mature. This has been built u over generations, and is now unquestionable almost. This is exactly the same as it is in other cultures, except it is not only with teenagers. Because of how the culture develops, different people are seen as having different rights. This has become entrenched into them as they grow and develop. So to them, for example letting women vote would be as obscene as us letting a 12 year old vote.

Whether or not Human rights are wrong or right is a touchy subject. To us they seem right, but to many cultures which have grown over thousands of years, some aspects of it are wrong. Which means just because we see it as right, does it mean they should?

I think what he means is that apologising for it does almost nothing, whereas learning from the mistake does a lot more. At least that is how i interoperate it.
  18. Once again you have proved to be a very reliable source for all things 'Jagex'. It is a good sight to see the profit from subscriptions to have been rising over the last two years, post Wilderness. Whether that is due to new members is unknown, as prices have gone up slightly as well as Jagex gaining new mediums in which to sell Subscriptions.
  19. Well as i said in my last entry, I have a 750 word assignment and a 2000 essay to do for Friday. The 750 word assignment is now complete (albeit at 837 words which I will ask my tutor whether it is acceptable or not). It really is hard to summarise three 20 page long articles into 250 words each. Well that is a load off my chest, one more and then i am free for February. I have work tomorrow afternoon, annoyingly i start 2h after my lecture finishes. This is a pain in the rear end as the bus I take to get back to my flat takes roughly an hour. Meaning there is no point in me coming back. So I will have a nice 2h break with nothing really to do while waiting for my shift to start at work. At that time of the day i'm really not in a working mood so doing the essay is a no go zone. I will probably take my laptop, sit in my car for the 2h playing either Dragon age or Roller-coaster Tycoon. Such a fun day planned.
  20. Does anybody else do the thing when they just get home, from a fairly stressful or busy day, going into your bedroom, standing right infront of your bed. Then just fall onto the bed and stay where you land for a minute or two, then just get up and carry on with whatever needs to be done.

I don't have answers for the other two, however, i do have an answer for the American slavery one. I'm currently (as in right this second) doing an assignment based on the Slave trade and its impacts on Africa. During this, my views have totally changed on how it has been morally seen through the years. A few poitns about the slave trade that you may not have learn't in school: - Slaves were traded, hence the name. Africans traded their slaves with Europeans for European goods. To begin with, Europeans rarely had a need for these slaves, but with growing need for a cheap work force in the Americas, this market for slaves had what they needed. So who was in the wrong, those who needed the slaves, or those capturing and selling them? - The slave trade did not start with the Europeans, slaves had been traded out of Africa to the north and east for Centuries. Should Egypt apologise for the slave trade too, as they were a large pre-European slave buyer? - The conditions in Africa at the time were very barren and desolate (at least on the West coast where Europeans brought a majority of their slaves). I have just read an article which stated many Africans were living in poverty and many different from starvation and malnutrition. In the Americas they had enough food to survive (should they make it there of course). So on that aspect it could be said they had been done a favour. Those are a few extra points to consider before saying America should apologise. I am not saying it shouldn't, i am simply putting out some points to show you that history which you are taught in schools can be very biased.
  22. Browsing these forums usually relaxes me a fair amount, and I like to do it after a stressful day. If i have some fruit handy it also seems to relax me at the same time.
  23. Well i think the main problem in the modern day is not the children it is the parents not teaching common knowledge. I know a lot of my 'common sense' thoughts come from things I had asked my parents as a child. I won't go into detail, as my criticisms of the modern parents could take a whole thread by itself. I knew the bacon one through the above means. Eggs i actually didn't know and got wrong (i voted yes). The reason was because my parents have a bread making machine. It has not been used for 4+ years, so i couldn't remember whether we used eggs in it or not. The oats one I knew easily as I live slap bang in the middle of a field which rotates year by year between potatoes and corn. This has lead me to ask my parents various questions about farming during my early years of sitting at the window watching tractors plough the fields etc. (Plus my uncle is a Farmer)
  24. Now I wonder how much that will go for on e-bay. Almost a famous laptop.
