  2. Nope, they just seem to increas ewith the unlimited amount of new randoms we get. oh blessed are the days when there was only golem, sulphur vent, end, tree spirit, troll, fish, whirlpool and mime.
  3. didn't it always?
  4. Castlewars, undoubtably the best minigame jagex have aded into runescape. Also the most popular (look at rs official polls). Its easily accessable, but to be good takes skill, perseverance and knowledge. I can't help you on the first two, but i can on the last. If you have never been to Cw before, this may be a bit daunting, but dont worry, its not as confusing as i make it seem : Contents: 1: Inventory Guide 2: Getting to the Enemy Castle 3: Getting to the Flag 4: Getting out of the Castle 5: Getting Back to Your Castle 6. Rewards 1: Inventory Guide Low Populated Worlds: In lower populated worlds, you will usually need to rely more heavily on melee and range defence. However, this does not mean you should forget magic defence altogether, you can never be too sure when a mage is lurking. Because of this, i will just say, for lower populated worlds, stick to mele armour as your main armour. High Populated worlds: This is were it gets much more complicated. In worlds 28/82 or any other high populated world at cw, mage defence is the key to a good score. You could have 400+ melee and range defence bonuses and still be slaughtered in seconds if your forced to stop because of a stray ice barrage or entangle. Because of this, you should aim for as high mage defence as you can get. Here is What i Suggest:(Remember you can't wear helm or cape in cw) Top: Armadyl>>Karil>>Black Dragonhide>>Best Dragonhide You can Wear>>Splitbark>>Lunar>>Nothing Bottom: Armadyl>>Karil>>Black Dragonhide>>Best Dragonhide You can Wear>>Splitbark>>Lunar>>Nothing Boots: Infinity>>Jester>>Dragon Boots>>Lunar>>Splitbark>>Best Metal Boots you can Wear>>Wizard Boots Gloves: Barrows/Drag Gloves>>3rd Age Range Vambs>>Infinity Gloves>>Family Crest Gaunts>>Dragonhide Gloves>>Best Dragonhide Vambs Available Amulet: Fury>>3rd Age Amulet>>Defence Amulet>>Magic Amulet>>Gnome Defence Amulet Ring: Seers Ring>>Lunar Ring>>Ring of Recoil Shield: DragonFire Shield>>Mages Book>>Dragon Sq>>Obsideon/Granite Shield>>Saradomin God Book>>Elemental Shield>>Broodoo Shield Weapon: Master Wand>>Ancient Staff>>Best MTA Staff Available>>Maple Blackjack>>DDS>>Dragon Long(slight melee defence, better than nothing) Whatever you do do NOT wear a two handed weapon, you don't need to attack while scoring, so the defence of a shield is more useful. Here are a few Examples For High and Low Levels: What NOT to wear: Whatever you do on a high populated world, - mage defence is a big no no. an experience player will see you and just let you get the flag and get it out, then kill you and flag hold(very bad). Heres a few examples of what not to wear. EASY TARGET EASY TARGET EASY TARGET What to Bring With you: Change of Armour: Its always a good thing to bring a change from mele/range defence to mage defence, or vise versa. You will rely moe of you melee armour in empty worlds, and more on your range armour in crowded worlds. Weapon+Shield: If your opponent gets thier flag, you will need these to get it back. Bow+ammo: Another good item if your enemy flag holds, especially if they have ancients defending it. Castle Wars Bracelet: These little gems will truly enhance your players scoring ability. They make bandages heal 150% and you will hit 20% higher on flags. A great addition to any cw'ers arsenal. Just wear in the waiting room, and once the game has started, take it off. Pickaxe: Take the highest pickaxe you can personally use, you will NOT lose it at the end of the game, only way you can lose it is by dropping it. I cannot count how many times i have been saved by closing off a tunnel to people chasing me. Saradomin Brew: For use in extreme cases such as wars, take a dose before you enter thier castle, as it boosts your hp above max, and adds alot to defence. When The Game Starts: When the game starts, rush straight to the bandage table and full up your inventory with bandages, don't even try scoring without them. Your inventory should look something like this: Now run to the supply room below the respawn room, grab two explosive potions and two barricades. Remember, bring more explosive potions if you know that the enemy is using alot of barricades. You should now have something like this: Ok, that's the inventory sorted, now onto the important part, how to SCORE \ 2: Getting to the Enemy Castle Map of the Basic Scoring Routes(starting at supply room) RED = Zamorak Team Routes BLUE = SaradominTeam Routes It should be obvious which way to run along the routes, so i won't add arrows, I'll tell you that Zamorak team run North West to South East, and Saradomin run South East to North West. Remember were stopping mages are(icers and snarers) for later on in the guide. 1: Low Risk/Slow 2A: High Risk/Very Fast 2B: Medium risk/ Medium speed 3: Low Risk/ Medium Speed ROUTE 1 Lowest risk of all the routes, rarely any dangerous enemies on this route. Just go straight out the big front door of your castle, and straight north to the stones if your Saradomin, or straight south if your Zamorak. Once at the stones, go across as quick as possible. Since the stepping stones update last year, this is rather slow, which is what makes this route so slow. Just right click the rocks and 'jump to stone' Option. Once across to the enemies side, run straight to thier castle, sticking as close the the perimiter wall of cw as possible. This way less enemiies will see you. Run straight to thier side door. ROUTE 2 A+B: Run Straight out of the front big door of your castle. Instead of going to the stepping stones, run to the middle of the field, onto the centre island. there will usually be alot of enemies on this route so be very careful. A ONLY: Carry on across the centre island to the enemy side of the map. This is the second most dangerous are in castle wars so be alert. You will have a high chance of being frozen or entangled ehre, so i would advise using mage defencive armour mixed with melee. you will also have to avoid thier catapault, which on the official cw world is almost impossible. Just run North off the bridge if you are on Saradomin, or South off the bridge if you are on Zamorak. From here run to the oponents small side door. B ONLY: Instead of going to the enemy side of the map, go down one of the two ladders on the central island. this will take you underground, this is usually a safe area, but sometimes can also be dangerous. Head towards the tunnels which lead to the enemy castle. (Remember North West heads towards Zamorak, South East heads towards Saradomin). Be careful when going past the collapsable rocks. This is where alot of lower levels like to stay just collapsing the rocks on people trying to go past. Jyst time it right and they will miss every time. Carry on along the tunnel untill you get to the ladder. Then go up. ROUTE 3 This is a very safe way of getting to the enemy castle, but is slightly slower than route two. Go down the ladder that is in your teams supply room. then follow the tunnels all the way to the opposite end ladder, and go up it. Watch out for lower levels at the collapsable rocks as in 2B. 3: Getting to the Flag Ok, this is were it starts to get tricky, you have to get past the enemy defence not once, but twice. Ground Floor: At the moment, you should either be at the side door, or at the ladder from the underground path: These are the Zamorak and Saradnomin bases respectively. You should be at either of the yellow dots at the respective castle. Now you will have to decide which way to go up towards the flag, either the stairs (1), or the ladder (2) Stairs (1): This way you will have less distance to travel to the stairs up to the next floor, however, most defenders are concentrated around these stairs, and will usually place barricades there. Higher risk but much faster. Ladder (2): This way, you will have to travel further once up to reach the next floor, however, there is usually much less defence conentrated around the ladder, and usually very few barricades. Lower risk but slower. Personally i go up the ladder at the start of the game and as the game goes on and the defence weakens i start using the stairs. Spawn Room: This is were the challenge starts. This can be the hardest room to get through on any world if the enemy knows what they are doing. Depending on which route you took in the enemy castle (Ladder or Stairs) you will still have a tough time here if your unprepared. The best idea would be to quickly 'pop' up the ladder or stairs to scout this floor. If there are alot of barricades, go back down, grab a couple of Explosive Potions off the enemies table and go back up. The Zamorak Spawn Room: Once up, you will have the same task whichever route you take. Run as quick as you can, blow up any barricades that you can't get around (Do NOT blow up a baricade if you can get around it, it's a waste of an explosive potion) and get to the stairs at the other end! If the enemy has stopping mages, try to outwit them. Try using a dragon spear special on them as a friend runs past to assist them, or place baricades infront of them. Second/Third Floors: These two floors have very little variety, so only need one section. Both of these floors you will just need to run as fast as you can, blowing up any baricades you cannot get around. On the Second floor your aim is to get to the stairs and up, on the Third floor your aim is to grab that flag! Zamorak Second Floor On the Second floor, if you are having difficulties getting to the stairs directly, try running around the back of the small building on this floor, it's risky but can sometimes work. Saradomin Third Floor The Third floor can be tricky as alot of lower levels will cram in the small space there. Just try to rick click whenever you move there to stop you randomly attacking people. If the flag isn't there: If the flag isn't there, you have a bit of a dilema. you can stay and wait for it to respawn, but take damage, or you can assist other people trying to get to the flag. the best strategy when staying, is to repeeatedly go up and down a set of stairs or a ladder. Or you can barricade yourself in a small area, both work well. If the flag IS there: If it is there, GRAB IT! that's the aim of the game. However, remember its a team game, if you have low hp, no prayer or both, take a minute to think if you will be able to make it back to your castle, if not don't risk it, being risky like that can lose the game. 4: Getting out of the Castle If you thought getting in was hard, this part is 2x harder. Now every enemy that sees you will start attacking you. You need speed and split second decision making now. You should already know the defence of the enemy as you just went through it once. Remember were the enemy were placing baricades and were the stopping mages were and avoid them at all costs. there isn't much explaining i can do for this section as its basically luck. Once you are back down in the spawn room, you have to make a decision, but QUICKLY. You can either go back down the ladder or the stairs. As before, the stairs will be heavily guarded and the ladder less so, but the ladder is the longer route if you plan on taking the flag above ground. While you are on the ground floor i the enemy castle, you will need to decide which route you will take to get the flag back to your castle. The routes are the same as the 'Getting to the enemy Caslte' Section, so refer back to that if you need to see the routes again. You should have noticed while you were getting to the castle, were stopping mages were hanging out, so avoid those areas at all costs. Once you have chosen a route, run there as quick as you can. Remember your baricades? this is were they come in handy. Any point along your route were you know the enemy have to run through, place a barricade. For example the side door leading into the castle is my favorite. This will slow down any defenders who are after you. Just click the baricade in your inventory as you are running, theres no need to stop. As you do this more you can experiment with other places as your timing improves. The best places to baricade are on the ground floor of the enemy castle as youre running out, as its a very small space and harder for the enemy to blow them up. 5: Getting back to your Castle The final step in scoring, getting the flag across the map and back to your castle. You should have chosen a route to take during the last step of the guide, so try to run as quick as you can along it, placing baricades werever you think they will slow the enemy down. KEEP HEALING. Bandages heal 10% of your maximum hp rounded down. So at 90hp, bandages heal 9, at 89 hp they will heal 8. When you have worn a combat bracelet at the start, bandages heal 15% of your maximum hp rounded down. Keep your hp as high as you can without wasting any, so if you are 99hp, don't let your hp drop below 80. Bandages also heal 30% run energy, so as long as you are healing you will keep running. That is all i can say for this section of the guide, as it is mainly all about quick thinking, and dodging enemies. Just keep an eye around you and try to outwit your enemies. Once you get to your teams castle, 90% of the time you will be safe to score. BUT, grab a few explosive potions from your teams supply room as you go into your castle as your defence may have barricades up which you will want to blow up, and very good cw players will sometimes run ahead of you and barricade your castle in ambush. And there you go, run up to the top floor and place the standard, hopefully that will be the winning score of the game. If not, just repeat the guide  . 6: Rewards Well, most of us play Cw for fun, but why can't you have rewards for having fun? If you play cw often enough. Keep scoring and eventually you will win enough games for the rarest armour set in runescape, GOLD CASTLEWARS ARMOUR. If you ahve any extra suggestions don't hesitate in saying them, i will add them in where they belong in the guide for others to see.
  5. Phree bump Thinking of writing a basic guide on scoring, wana contribute some screenies when i do?
  6. Pre-gratz on 99 hp as youl probably forget to tell me when you get it -.- Let me try on your yellow when you get it
  7. Yay somebody bumped this thread, always love people being able to see things that made me laugh. Cooks assistant #2 = the best.
  8. Got bored waiting for my team.
  9. I've never pk'd or staked and still dislike them. Pc products are people with high combat who know nothing about the game, because without fighting general monsters they have not learnt how runescape works outside of PC. Pures just imbalance the game and think because they are stronger in one skill they can be better, but not the case when i fight them.
  10. Changing that pic to this one: (hopefully you havent already uploaded these yet) http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/8509 ... 356fn2.png Danqazmlp
  11. Jmod's answer to the money cap in rs.
  12. If i was ging to get a GS, it would easily be the ZGS. I don't pk and have low str so AGS would be useless for me, BGS are so common i wouldn't want one, and SGS are just too much for me being poor and all. And being under 94 mage and playing CW every so often ZGS would be the most useful for me.
  13. I'm going to have to take another pic from my last post in here, i had my oooooollllldddd gear in that pic :( Would it be better to just post a new, or just edit the other post? all depends if you already taken the pics from the posts or not.
  14. In my experience, most of my friends in rs have social lives, most have gf's, go out getting drunk having fun etc. I think runescape attracts more casual gamers than the other mmorpg's
  15. i agree with pickaxe. No pickaxe means no runes(ess to make into runes) no armour for the ores for them. No weapons (apart from whip which is leatherish).
  16. Ive seen something really strange recently at the shanty pass. three worlds i went to there all had a player (level 3) with a macro like name walking in a pattern repeatedly saying '222'. I reported them for macroing but i have abosultely no idea what they were actually doing.
  17. Alread mentioned, but at least its hidden.
  18. Buy them from shop. no faster way, and probably as cheap as you will get too.
  19. A single air rune.
  20. I would actually love if the older holiday items were more recent. I don't like phats for the cost, just because the yellow one looks like a gold crown. I love the look of masks because if you get it right you can look like a drgon'ish thing. Ok santa's i wouldn't be hot on, or bunny ears, but the same with the scythe i would love it. i go on the looks of them more than the show off value, but i don't think the newer items fit into any outfits on thier own.
  21. Me and a few friends and friends of friends from cw clans decided to try and d/zam spear special a white knight out of falador, we got quite far: But then some noob set up a cannon, this is the death shot: So we had no choice but to spam and flame him O:)
  22. In the last couple of years, runescape has gained numerous mini-games, but some much more successful than others. Least successful i would say is the rat pits, it isn't totally deserted but is obviously much less popular than other minigames. Most successful i would say are Castle wars and the fight pits, but why is this so? All the minigames in Runescape: Barbarian Assault Barrows Blast Furnace Brimhaven Agility Arena Castle Wars Champion's Challenge The Fishing Trawler Games Room Gnome Ball Gnome Restaurant Impetuous Impulses Mage Arena Mage Training Arena Pest Control Pyramid Plunder Ranging Minigame Rat Pits Rogues' Den Rogue Trader Shades of Mort'ton Sorceress's Garden Tai Bwo Wannai Clean-up Tears of Guthix Temple Trekking / Burgh de Rott Ramble Treasure Trails Trouble Brewing TzHaar Fight Cave TzHaar Fight Pit So what actually makes the successful and popular ones popular and others less so? Is it good rewards? fun gameplay? A good challenge? or a combination of them all? Personally i think deep down people in runescape just like competition and looking good against others, which is why combat based minigames seem to be more popular.
  23. The ONLY items that stop armadyl enemies attacking are: Armadyl pendant (from quest) Armadyl hat Armadyl Plate Armadyl Legs Armadyl Godsword (but theres no point as you have to range them)
  24. Danqazmlp replied to edard's topic in Help and Advice
you get full exp, but i wouldn't suggest training there, its just a bonus. you will rarely hit on other players, and most of the time not be killing people, it would be much faster exp to just train on monsters.
  25. Dharok is 28 Verac 23/24 Torag 23 Guthan 24 Very cloe to those.
