  1. I agree with some other people above when they say this is totally counter-productive. This is screws the internet over for everybody else. It's like those teenagers who give all young people a bad name due to the things they do. There really is no moral high-ground for them to stand on. They are doing it to be pains for everybody else because they can.

I've watched a lot of the newer episodes recently and to be honest, to me personally I think they are as good as they ever were. I think the main problem is that people have grown up. With most programs, they will start and finish while you are still in the same age range, but the Simpsons has lasted so long. I must have seen my first episode around the age of 5. I'm now 20 and have much different tastes. Those old episodes we saw at that age will still feel better due to nostalgia but the core of the program remains the same from what I can see. I'm not sure if there was a lul due to me now only watching backwards from the most recent and having missed many seasons, but they seem good. To me personally, I always watched them on BBC2 at 6pm. Once it moved to channel 4 and you had to sit through adverts, I stopped watching it.

    Big shame.
  5. You don't have to win to have fun. I agree. Everybody has their own interpertation of what is fun, and almost all people could possibly have fun in cw of 05'-07'. You could be rich and use ice spells an the best gear pking, as well as being poor but having skill and being able to heavily influence the game. Neither were exclusive, and people could mix. Now however if you don't have the best gear, you stand no chance of being able to influence the game. Gear used to give you an edge/buff, now it is almost the be-all and end-all.
  6. High level weapons ruined castle wars. It went from basically it's own little biodome where you could play, at any level, at any 'richness' and still be skillfull enough to win. Now you need money money and money, which means you have to do non-cw as much/more than cw just to play cw. Very backwards.
  7. This is exactly why a thread for 'common knowledge' things like this is in the pipeline. I do however agree that the burden of proof should be on those making the claim. Something may be common knowledge to person A but not person B. It would turn the metagaming forum into nothing more than an elitist forum where only those already in can be. This forum caters to everybody, which means allowing newer people to gain knowledge, adding to the community. If this means you have to show why x is better than x, so be it.
  8. So yeah, everything I wanted seems true. Going back to it's roots, I could not be more excited (unless it was released much sooner) Also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dwbsQ0k4EY&feature=player_embedded#at=59
  9. I don't quite see your point on the signature issue. If it violated the rules, then it was a just removal. I doesn't matter how long it went un-noticed or how far over the rules it was. It is a very black and white case.
  10. Please read he H&A forum rules before posting advice or discussing other suggestions given: http://forum.tip.it/topic/292649-new-posting-guidelines/ You are free to politely disagree with other suggestions, but do not antagonise or flame them.
  11. The rules cover this pretty comprehensively: Confronting staff directly will only heighten the situation and make it worse. More often, it also allows the person who has the complaint to think it through more thoroughly if they compose a Private message instead of immediately reply to a topic. It is not an attempt to hide any problems as the staff members in question will be aware of the situations very swiftly if they receive a complaint. The only reason I can see to want an issue public is to stir the pot and make the problem larger than actually wanting to resolve it. Admins are the ones who can solve a problem the fastest, so it is best to message them. Also remember that staff are people too, having your name slandered across the forum you volunteer on is a horrible thing to happen and I wouldn't wish it upon anybody. It is certainly not something you should aim for. Using Private messages with Admins allows them to calmly and professionally discuss the matter. Again it is coming down to just having some respect for the staff. Give people respect and they are much more likely to respect you back. Confronting them in public will get no results and only succeeds in making the situation worse.
  12. That may be so, but being rude towards somebody when they are promoted is not the way to go. We all know that being rude on a promotion topic will be removed, not due to any personal feelings but due to it being offensive and just a horrible thing to do. I know that you are all of a fair intelligence and aren't stupid, so would know this. The only logical reason then can be that posts were made to antagonise. This is just not on. As I said, be polite and come to us in the correct places and manner and we will talk back. Give us respect and we will respect you back.
  13. I disagree. Working within the rules created the Efficiency forum. It may not be perfect, but that is because we cannot tell what people want unless they then continue to come to use within the rules. Unfortunately, discussions within the rules don't seem to have happened since it was created. We would LOVE to have input on the forum, suggestions and help to digest and mull over, but continuous rule breaking doesn't aid us at all. If anything, it slows us down. The best way to improve the forums is to talk to us, not shout at us. Don't insult us, insulting the moderators and administrators and being rude, but just talk to us. Tell us what we can add to make the forum better, a place for your community to grow within it. However, you also have to consider what we can and can't do within the constraints of this forum. In short, just talk to us without insulting us and we will start listening. Be rude and we will be much more likely to dismiss your remarks as nothing but a means to antagonise.
  14. I have to admit, I'm finding it hard to take any of your arguments seriously any more when you constantly break the forum rules. You have been told countless times now how to air your grievances within the forum rules yet do not do so. You continue to break these rules knowing full well what they are and why they are there (as it has been explained to you many times). It seems then that you don't want to make TIF better at all, you don't want to comply with the rules, you just want to disrupt the forums and cause more work for the moderators. Short story: Do things within the rules and everybody is happy, do things against the rules, both parties lose.
  15. Congrats Jimmy, very well deserved.
  16. Todays Race was an exception to the rule, but it is annoying just how lucky Vettel managed to be. The last 10 laps could have been an epic ending but by the time they restarted it was just a bore. I think they should change the rule about changing tyres when the race is stopped. I can't see any advantage to this as it basically nullifies the rest of the race. As well as the damage repairing. I still can't feel excited about Vettel winning though. I would feel different if i thought he was winning by skill, but it seems to reliant on the car, or the lack of car under other drivers.
  17. Again, what seems like the hundredth time you have ignored so much. I will simply repeat what I said last time which you conveniently ignored: So now you are actively ignoring everything everybody is saying and which is contained within the original article? They are NOT playing WoW in a 12 hour shift. They ARE being forced to grind the game for 12 hours with punishments including beating if they do not do it to a certain standard, which could lead to physical and mental harm. I'm disappointed that you cannot see the difference. Until you see that, I can't see any reason for anybody to continue discussing it with you. I also point you to Forsakenmage's post which covered the same things but in much more detail.

You know I'm quite surprised there isn't a Simpsons thread here on TIF, even though it is losing a bit of popularity now. I'll get right to it. The last episode of the current series saw Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel start dating. The episode ended with Ned finding out about Edna's past relationships and being freaked out by them, not sure whether to stay with her or run. They are leaving the decision up to the puclic, letting people vote Pro or No to Nedna. You can vote here: http://www.thesimpsons.com/nedna/ Which are you?
  19. Why do you get to dictate what is and isn't an important issue? why should something you find important be considered important when others may find it pointless? If you find it pointless to get concerned about these actions, ignore them. Part of this freedom which is being denied for these people is the choice to to express opinions and concerns about whatever we choose. This is something we have. I find it quite arrogant that you think just because you find it un-important and funny, other people should too.
  20. :( Still only the one picture. Remember, if you don't want people to know it is you who took the picture, you can remain anonymous by PM'ing me the picture.

  22. Welcome to TIF, may I take your order? Siding with Blyaunte here, it's [bleep]ing hilarious. Don't like it, shouldn't have [bleep]ed up to get put in jail. For what ever the reasons, although they may seem ridiculous here, they know they law and what could happen had they been pushed / broken. IDC if they got 5 years for stealing a God damned penny candy, or for petitioning blah blah blah; They knew the risks. *Grabs the fire extinguisher and a fire blanket.* Go ahead TIF, give it your best. :). I'm glad people who think that way are in a vast minority here as it is a disgusting viewpoint. Spending years in jail for petitioning against a corrupt (as seen by this and countless other instances) regime should not result in forced labour and harsh punishment. Freedom of speech can sometime bring some very negative views to light in the Western world such as very concentrated religious intolerance and hate, but without it, the peoples of China and countries under their rule like Tibet have no chance at a 'free' life, or the ability to attain it. By this stage I just think blyaunte should admit when she is wrong and step down, when shown multiple times in this thread that being forced to play a game for 12 hours, on top of manual labour, which has the possibility to lead to psychological trauma from sleep deprivation, as well as physical harm from punishment and game-related issues is torture. It boils down to being forced, against your will to do something which can have a severe negative effect on your person.
  23. If I was in prison playing a video game and I was seeking sympathy for it -- yes, I'd expect people to laugh at me. Wouldn't you? No. I would say you are wording it wrong. No - I would say I am wording it correctly. Once again, like the others, you're implying something that, really, isn't even in the article. You're trying to equate this thing with some warped derisive vision of something that isn't there. You're letting your imagination run WILD and making up [cabbage] to support your point of view. If you have read the article, you would have seen that. I am therefore not implying something that isn't in the article, I am not seeing something that isn't there or imagining something, it is you who are doing those things and blindly ignoring parts of the article. This prisoner was forced through punishment to grind games. That is 100% undeniably in the article. They are not 'playing' the games, they are grinding them with harsh punishments if they do not.
  24. If I was in prison playing a video game and I was seeking sympathy for it -- yes, I'd expect people to laugh at me. Wouldn't you? No. I would say you are wording it wrong.
  25. We are actively discussing the scripts posted here on TIF. If we see them as agains the rules they will also be removed. A warning saying not to use is just not going to work and can be used to 'loophole' yourself out of a situation, knowing full well that people can and will use something to bot. Nobody had to be punished, it was the users who decided to go against our word after us telling them that we don't allow something that have been punished. Therefore the punishment didn't come as a consequence of the scripts, but as a consequence of the actions. We are not going to let something stay on the forum that could be potentially rule breaking while we gather the evidence for it. According to the evidence we have at hand, the scripts are more likely to be rule breaking than not. It would be negligent for us to just allow something until we have proof of it being against the rules when we highly suspect, that it is. We are also gathering more evidence to end the whole conflict as a final say, but while that is coming, we have to use what we currently have. If you don't break the rules, you don't get punished. It is not a hard rule to follow. Having a good history should never make you exempt from being warned or punished if you post the same amount of rule breaking that another user posts who also gets punished. That would be unfair and biased. Again, we are waiting for the evidence to ave a final say, but while we are waiting we have to use what we currently have available which tells us that certain scripts are against the rules. Until we get that evidence, we have a policy to maintain. Breaking our rules will still bring punishments.
